The ranch and ride was so much fun, being outdoors with the beautiful horses. It was my first time riding- felt nervous but excited- and the team made me feel at ease. I received a mini walkthrough on how to guide the horse to go forward, stop, and turn. My guide was Matt who made my first visit (but not last!) great - told great stories, and shared about various animal/plant activity along the trail. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking -- a crisp, snow-covered trail winding through tall pine trees under a brilliant blue sky with perfect fluffy clouds. The weather was ideal: sunny, calm, and just cold enough to make it feel like a true winter escape without being uncomfortable. Huge shoutout to our incredibly patient and helpful tour guide who made the entire experience smooth, safe, and enjoyable for everyone (especially first-timers). Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The horses are well trained and follow each other since they already know the trail, but they still respond to commands like go and stop, and you can steer them left or right if you want. That made us feel comfortable even as first-time riders. The only area I think could be improved is having a small practice area for brand-new riders to learn the basics before heading out on the trail. Other than that, everything was amazing. I didn't click as much with other stables or felt "seen" until I found NHHP. On the first phone call, Melanie + Carly were so welcoming, kind and funny! Each lesson is always a great and fun learning experience. They aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible while challenging you and helping you find that motivation from within. They are talented instructors with years of experience to help guide and mold riders to become their most successful. Even in group lessons, they take their time with EACH rider. Also, they are super quick with reaching back out in regards to booking lessons, rescheduling lessons and being flexible with your schedule. They also will blanket and flyspray as well if you provide the supplies. Owner loves your horse as if her own and really cares about its welfare. Owner is also a certified trainer and will give lessons to you on your horse at your place or hers. If you don't own a horse and would like to learn all about horses as well as riding, she teaches this as well. She teaches from small children to the adult amateur. She has summer camps and clinics through out the year as well as events that get the boarders together such as the annual painted pony parade, the ornament exchange and we have field trips to horse shows to watch and sometimes support fellow boarders showing in the event. She has shown my daughter how to take care of horses, and has been a great friend to me as well. During hurricane Beryl, she handled all the damage with care and expertise. Even with all the struggles that came with the hurricane, I couldn't trust anybody else more with the care of my horses. The other boarders have also told us how much they love Chrisi and how well she has taken care of the horses. Her lessons have taught my daughter so much, and she loves them. She always comes home with the largest smile on her face, talking about how much she loved it, and how it is the favorite part of her week. There is such a community at the barn, and Chrisi has really grown that. It is a place that is so great to be, and you'll not just get excellent care of your horses, or amazing lessons, but friends and a community to be apart of. We were at Creekside for a short amount of time…read more My daughter started taking lessons with one of the trainers there and enrolled in the riding school. For first impressions Javier and Begonia (owners) were so welcoming. Made you feel like part of the family. They do have a decent facility. Could it use some upgrades, yes. But for the price it is ok. I will try not to turn this into a book. We enjoyed the place so much that we purchased an amazing horse through the trainer (not creekside) but we chose to board our horse there. We paid for three months in advance of boarding and for the first month things were ok. Then it got very bad very quickly. Our horse was not being fed on a regular basis. The verbal agreements that were made for paying lessons up front for an entire month were all of the sudden no longer ok. Overall if you do any business with this boarding and lesson facility make sure you get any arrangements in writing. This was our mistake. We tried to resolve our issues but it was not very important to Creekside to keep our business. The owner has many horses of his own that are in stalls and those horses are most definitely cared well for. The owner cares more about his own personal dressage riding than any of his boarders or riding school students. They have a high turnover for the help that is hired and staff/workers are not properly trained to deal with horses. They don't have nor do they verify proper vet records on these horses. They don't have properly managed deworming. They are not organized. We finally had to leave because of the lack of care for our horse, we had to leave without notice due to the worry for the care of our horse. When I informed the owners why we were leaving they did respond professionally and did say they would issue a refund for the last month we had paid in advance for. We left towards the end of October and this is December and no check received. I waited this long to write my review. Just a final warning if you arrange anything with this place get it in writing, and closely monitor your horse that it is being properly cared for on a daily basis.
