One of my favorite little travel traditions is getting my son's haircut in a different place whenever we travel. This trip took us to Puerto Rico, and while it's not technically a different country, it definitely feels like a different culture in the best way. So of course the tradition continued.
I searched for a nearby barber and found Trolo's Barber in Morovis with great reviews. What I did not realize until we pulled up... was that the barbershop is literally inside a bus parked along the roadside. Instantly one of the coolest barbershop setups I've ever seen.
I popped in and asked if they were taking clients. One of the customers helped translate and we ended up using a little Google Translate and some haircut photos to explain what we wanted. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
The place was busy (always a good sign), but also really well kept. It was air-conditioned, super clean, organized, and they even had a TV going while people waited. There were two barbers working. Trolo himself didn't cut my son's hair, but the other barber did an amazing job. Even though he didn't speak much English, he kept checking in with me to make sure everything looked good, which I really appreciated.
The whole experience had some personality too. At one point it started raining and there were a couple little drips inside the bus. I had a moment of "uhhh... are we safe around the outlets?" but clearly this was normal for them and everyone just laughed it off.
What really impressed me was the craftsmanship. They use straight-edge razors, multiple types of shears, and even hand-cut individual hairs for detail. And they're doing all of this inside a bus that shifts and moves when people step in or out. The balance, precision, and professionalism it takes to do that kind of barbering in an environment like that is honestly impressive.
The haircut itself was fantastic. Super detailed, clean fade, and it styled perfectly even the next day after we washed it. You can tell they take pride in their work.
And the price? $20.
For the level of time, detail, and care they gave, that honestly felt like a steal. Even more incredible, that price includes shaving and traditional barbering services.
We tipped 50% because they absolutely deserved it and were so appreciative.
If you're anywhere near the area, I highly recommend stopping by:

It might be the only barbershop you'll ever visit inside a bus, and the haircut and hospitality are just as memorable as the setting. Such a fun experience for our family and one of those random travel moments we'll always remember. read more
