I hadn't eaten all day and came from a 3 hour hike, and I still did not eat this soup (starvation won over bland, tasteless, lukewarm soup). The best thing was the papas fritas, and it was mediocre at best. The service was not only terribly slow, but inattentive. We all finished our lemonade within 20 minutes and sat around with empty glasses for the rest of the meal. Don't worry, we are not horrible human beings and still tipped the server for his efforts, but gee golly you are so bad at your job dude!

The food: great tempura shrimp tacos (pics) accompanied by a hot salsa that is not simply "snappy", but also quite flavorful. My wife had the chicken soup first served as a simple bowl filled with chicken, of course, along with a bevy of veggies into which hot chicken broth is poured! Yummy yum yum! Finally, the guacamole was fresh and flavorful with fresh chips and passed the "far too salty" test with a flourish. And not to overlook service: friendly and very helpful assisting my wife with some dietary issues. All in all, a great place

There were other tourists at the bar so we decided to stop. It was colorfully decorated, nothing fancy but typically Mexican. We ordered the mango margaritas. Normally margaritas have salt on the rim, ours had tajin instead, a more peppery lime like seasoning, a refreshing change, and the drink was delicious! We ordered the guacamole and seafood ceviche full of the freshest medium-large shrimp and octopus. The guacamole was very fresh. Definitely 5 star food for taste, presentation, quantity, and price. Victor also gave us a lesson in Mezcal and Tequila, then gave us a sample taste of his best tequila. This was definitely worth the stop and highly recommended, we plan on returning!

Normally, this would cause a red flag but perhaps it was early or an off night. Los Campos is located on the south-eastern side of Centro Historico district and is an easy walk from Jardin de la Union. What drew us to Los Campos was the referenced diversity of their menu. My companion eats chicken and fish, while I am a vegan and plant-based. Their menu has multiple vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. While the flavors were pretty good, it was the plate presentation that was exceptional and we both felt that Los Campos was a little too pretentious for us. I was limited to order the Chaminones con Mezcal. Mushrooms flambeed in Mezcal with orange zest and dried chile. My wife, although not excited to try, did have the Burrito de Cerdo Ahumado en Salsa Colorado. It wasn't that Los Campos was too fancy, it was more like we, as diners, were more comfortable in other settings. We would suspect that diners from the United States or from Europe would fall in love with the avant-garde interiors and plate presentations. From all accounts, that all seems to be true, it's just our style.
