While I have always loved this place I have to give a bad review because of the owner. I live less than a mile away and got a Tropical Smoothie Cafe flyer in the mail with coupons. I took one of the coupons and headed in only to be told the owner pulled the coupons off the system and wasn't honoring them. Those poor employees! People were mad! I've always been a fan of Tropical Smoothie Cafe (especially when they started serving vegan meat alternatives) but this was my first time at this location. It was packed with people and the cashier said smoothies would be a 20-25 minute wait. When our order was ready, only 2/3 of the sandwiches were in the bag. When the manager found out of this, he gave us free cookies and hand delivered the final sandwich. He was so polite and eager to correct this mistake, even during the crazy lunch rush. I love tropical smoothie, I have been to many locations. Never have any issues. But every time I have gone to the Grandville location, the quality is very poor. I pay about $6.00 for a smoothie to not end up eating it. The flavor of the smoothie is nonexistent and the texture is all off. I personally am in love with the Blueberry Bliss, but the fruit and the fruits skin is all chunky. Nasty! Plus the ice is half the size of the original. Therefore, it's like eating $6 flavored ice. Very upset today! I went to call in my lunch order, after voiding this location for 4 months due to a bad experience last time. Now, I gave my full order, and was about to hang up the phone - when this location now wants my credit card to "hold" my $5.99 order ?!?! Are you flipping kidding me! If a place is busy that is usually a good sign of a great product and excellent customer service, and this place was no exception. I was nicely greeted when I arrived and I explained that I hadn't been there before but would love to get a smoothie. The server was so informative! I told her what flavors I liked and she had a few recommendations even one that was a retired flavor, the tropicolada. I went with that one and it was a perfect choice. I came her on National Smoothie Day for my $1 smoothie reward. When I got to the store, I waited in line and tried to use my reward at the window. They said it didn't work. So I got out of line and tried to fix it myself on the app. When I finally figured it out myself, J decided to order from the app so I did not have to wait in line all over again. The app said my payment method did not go through, but 10 minutes later, I got an email from my bank that my card was charged. I waited in line again and told them my issue. They said they would make it for me, but my smoothie didn't show up in the online orders. I sat down and waited for 20 more minutes and decided to go back up and see what progress had been made on my single smoothie. They said, "it still hasn't come through," meaning they had not even started making my smoothie yet. I waited a total of 45 minutes at this store waiting for one single smoothie. Finally, I went back up for more help and they told me they could not make my smoothie without a confirmation email from the app. So I left after 45 minutes with nothing and a charge to my bank account. read more
