Long story short: Order local (from here), not from Etsy. My friends and I were considering ordering bachelorette party shirts from Etsy but were concerned about sizes fitting all members of our party and overall shirt quality. That was until we got the idea to go to a local print shop. I found Troy Cloth and Paper on Yelp and headed right there. Dave was available to chat about shirt design, shirt style options, and suggested sizing. We settled on Bella Canvas tanks which are much better than the quality Etsy offers. There was a slight communication error that delayed the design process but as soon as that was fixed I had a mock up within 3 business days. Dave was awesome about modifying my mock up to meet my design preferences. I confirmed the mock up was good to go at 7 am and my shirts were done by 7 pm. THEY LOOK AWESOME and Dave gave us a hefty discount for the communication error. Awesome customer service and easy to work with. Definitely recommend these guys for all your events that require shirts. read more

This was the first time in years that I had visited downtown Troy and this was the first store I entered. Man have things changed! Turns out Troy has turned it's sh*t around and now there's more than a dozen quality stores. I came here on Christmas Eve looking to kill time while home for the holidays. Businesses like TC&P are integral to this, a small specialty business that offers high quality small batch offerings of paper goods, tees and totes. I was impressed with their selection and would definitely frequent them if I lived close by, however since they have an online presence with a easy to use, clean interface, I'm hoping to offer them some support from afar. read more

I have purchased many gift certificates from Troy Cloth & Paper in the past. In doing so, I'd pay the amount I wanted to give and receive a sweet little card to present as a gift. In December, I went to TC&P to purchase four gift certificates for Christmas. Evidently the business has changed ownership and customer service has wildly declined in the new owner's hands. The cashier was unsure how to ring out the gift certificate, so she called the new owner for direction. He instructed her to charge me the amount of the gift card, plus a processing fee, plus TAX. I couldn't believe I was actually charged tax. It was neither a good nor service - it was, in fact, me bringing him business. I can easily guarantee that the recipients will purchase more than the amount I gifted - potentially far more. But for bringing his store a profit, I was charged eight extra dollars. To top it off, there wasn't even a gift card. The cashier apologetically handed me the receipt and said, "Sorry...this is it. We don't have gift cards anymore." So my present was a receipt that showed the amount of the card, plus the processing fee, plus the tax, plus my credit card information. So classy! With all their design capabilities, it seems that was the best they could provide. I had just come from Market Block Books where I had paid $25 for my $25 gift card and the cashier had cheerfully written out the amount on an adorable, physical gift certificate that she tucked into a lovely little envelope before handing it over and wishing me a Merry Christmas. Then I walked over to TC&P and was raped for register tape. Clearly this new owner is painfully lacking in gratitude towards those who drive his business. I can only hope the quality of the products don't decline as dramatically as he's allowed customer service to slide. read more

This place is awesome! The customer service is great, the shop is gorgeous and you can see the printing room and watch people as they do the work. It is also your one stop shop for all of your card and Troy gear needs! I've bought all of my cards here over the last few months and I bought a few prints with picture frames from here; my favorites being the "Greetings from Troy" one with the Green Island Bridge on it and the French Press one, both of which I gave to my girlfriend, who also loved them. Plus, while I have yet to get one myself, they also have some pretty spectacular event prints for each Troy Night Out. read more

I love these guys. The layout of their store, their products, the design. It's all really cool. Their shirts are top-notch, the ones I have are printed on American Apparel and have held up well over the years, enduring many many washings. When I was missing Troy I outfitted my Boston and D.C. apartments with Troybot and other cool prints. I've bought from them both in-person and online, and it has always been a great experience. When ordering online everything is shipped and prepared nicely, you can tell it was sent out by hand, not so much as a bend or nick anywhere on the poster. I love their cards, too. They are funny, original and cute. It's always nice to be able to give someone a birthday or thank-you card that's not glossy-finished, pedestrian, and Hallmarkesque. I always keep a stack of their printed cards on hand. So nice to have a local business like this in Troy, it really is a gem, and their stuff makes a great gift! read more
