I was road tripping across the country by myself, exploring Pittsburgh, and I decided to drive up that insanely steep hill about 2 miles from Troy Hill Garage. Coming out of the intersection at the top something went to crap in my transmission/shifter and I was stuck in second. I already didn't have much mechanical faith in my car so I thought I was screwed. Cherry on top was that I was broke as all get out when this happened so that added some nice stress. A gas station down the road told me to drive up and see if these guys could figure out what was wrong... limping along in 2nd I got to the garage. I was a stressed mess and probably came off rude and scared but the guys and gals at Troy Hill Garage got my car in the shop and dove into it. I went and wandered the city on foot for a couple hours but probably and hour and half after they started on my car they called to say it was fixed!! Ended up being a bad shift cable bushing and it was a cheap fix! These folks saved my trip and the car is still going great after putting another 5000 miles on it over the next two weeks after getting it fixed!! read more

I have been going there since shortly after they opened. I have found them to be honest , and fare value. I never feel like he is padding the work order and he and his staff are knowledgeable.Sometimes he will suggest a cheaper alternative as long as it is safe. For example; My driver side mirror was broken. New mirror was $130, a used one was $45, he suggested a glue on mirror that cost around $7 because the housing was intact. He put it on and you could hardly tell the difference. It fit so well the inside adjuster still worked. If I could have given him a 4 1/2 stars I would have. Because the only thing is that sometimes he gets backed up. He does tell you when he is really busy, so it's not a surprise. I once waited 9 1/2 hours at PEP Boys for a repair and they kept telling me " your car is next" and they had taken the bad part off so I couldn't leave.I never go to PEP boys for repairs now. read more

I have gone to their shop several times with 2 of my cars and thought things were great. I recently took my car in and they told me my front calipers were seized and that all of my rotors and breaks would need replaced totaling almost $600. I took my car to KIA because I have a warranty with them and they told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my calipers, rotors or breaks. If fact, they told me if my calipers were seized my car wouldn't have been drivable yet I drove all the way to Wexford without issue to have it looked at by KIA. I am glad I didn't pay the money for unnecessary work, truly disappointed. read more
