What a horrible frustrating experience. I used Troy for years and thought he was over charging me but accepted it was just par for the course. He is non responsive to emails, and requested filing extensions without my permission 2 years in a row. I found an amazing new CPA and was just going to let it go and not engage with Troy again, until I just received an outstanding bill from the IRS in the mail from 3 years ago! My new accountant charged me half as much and managed to fix all of his errors. Lastly I feel horrible that I referred a friend to him some years ago as they just received a $1200 fine because he filed their business taxes late. read more

I used Troy for taxes and it was a extremely disappointing experience. I found him to be unorganized, unresponsive and not particularly helpful. He made a serious mistake resulting in a significant amount of taxes I owed being withdrawn early. When I brought the mistake to his a attention, he demonstrated very little concern for the impact. If you search his license, he had to go through ethics training in Jan 2019 due to a previous violation of the rules. read more

I hired Troy several years ago to prepare my taxes. He was friendly and prompt with his service. He or his team made an error which cost me around $800 in penalties and interest. He did not refund the fees, but had promised to file an abatement request. That was over 8 months ago, he never provided evidence it was filed, and now doesn't respond to my emails. read more

I used Troy for my income taxes for several years and was very surprised at how proactive and helpful he was, not just at tax time but throughout the year with no extra charge whenever I had tax questions. He even educated me on finance questions - not by giving me investment advice, he is too ethical to do that - but the tax implications of investments. He struck me as very hard working, scrupulously honest, and genuinely concerned about doing the best work possible. I recommend him highly. The less-than-stellar reviews here surprise me - that has not been my experience at all. read more

To clarify, Troy Vigil runs a combination office offering Allstate Insurance and CPA/Tax services, so my review pertains to his CPA services. I first hired him back in February of 2018 to handle my bookkeeping and generate monthly P&L reports. The P&L reports were crucial to me, because my business has a massive monthly marketing budget and my expenses were getting somewhat out of control. I expressed to him just how crucial it was that I start receiving P&L statements ASAP to get a handle on things. It took me about 2 weeks max to get him access to all of my accounts, etc. Problem was, the girls in his office would never quickly access my accounts once I gave them the online access codes, instead sitting on them for several days until they timed out. Then 2 weeks later I'd get another call stating they needed me to have the bank send the same password again. This type of disorganization literally dragged on for months... until I realized 5 months had passed and I still hadn't received my first P&L yet. However, the one thing his office was extremely efficient at was billing my account $400 per month! They couldn't figure out how to get the basic information out of my account, but they sure didn't have any problem taking money out of it, like clockwork. In addition to producing P&L Statements, they were supposed to take over my payroll duties as well. Mind you, this took my previous payroll guy a couple days to set up... but not Troy Vigil. Once again, his office was hired to transition it in February, but couldn't figure out a basic payroll transfer until 5 months later in July. After asking around our office, I learned that he had screwed up the tax returns for several other agents in our office, and made basic errors like failing to file extensions for people etc. Overall, this office is a train wreck, and a rip-off. Don't waste your time, or risk your business finances with them. read more

Troy was an extremely nice person, however I would not and should not have trusted him with doing my taxes. He came highly recommended from close friend since our tax situation became too complex and confusing for us to file ourselves like we normally do. After shelling out $350 the first year we thought everything was taken care of. Come late that summer we get a notice from the state Department of Revenue saying we did not pay the full amount due. We immediately contacted Troy and he took care of the situation. Come this year we go back to Troy, and lone behold late summer we get another notice from the state saying we did not pay all of our taxes that were due. Again, Troy was immediately contacted regarding the issue. He made several attempts at making excuses saying he did not know whether we were paying or he was since he sent us the voucher, despite me sending him my signatures so he could pay it along with the fact that he has my account information. After several emails and NO phone communication he eventually agreed to pay the fine and interest and refund only a small minute portion of what I paid him for a job he did not complete two years in a row. There are plenty of great CPAs in the area, Troy unfortunately is not one of them and is not worth the headache. read more
