There just aren't enough awesome things to say about Michael Roos, owner and Senior DJ and I couldn't be happier that we found him. My (now) husband and I happened upon Michael and True DJs of Dallas as a recommended vendor from our venue. From the get-go, Michael took the time to understand what vibe we were looking for, our musical tastes, the type of crowd at our wedding, and how to bridge the gap between the older, more conservative crowd and our eclectic theme and musical requests. My (now) husband and I wanted a very different wedding -- one that would reflect every bit of our personality and be as unique as us. We decided on a Medieval/Renaissance theme with nods to Lord of the Rings, Monty Python & The Holy Grail, Game of Thrones, and The Princess Bride. We also wanted music that we loved (rock, 80's, goth metal, industrial) but didn't want to scare anyone into leaving early or not dancing. For any other DJ, this would be a nightmare of a task. Michael not only embraced our vision but had tons of ideas to contribute, making it even more epic. From our first conversation, we hit it off instantly. It was very clear that Michael knows his music. It was exciting to know Michael not only knew of the bands I wanted to be played but also enjoys that music as well. Our initial in-person meeting with Michael further cemented that he was the DJ for us. By nature, my (now) husband and I are introverts, but sitting down with Michael was like sitting down with a friend. It wasn't stressful, it was fun and easy-going. We could tell he knew his stuff and enjoys making each wedding/event memorable. In fact, we became great friends after the in-person meeting! Michael also offered to be our wedding officiant since we were also looking for something very specific. We considered having our officiant dress up as the Black Knight from The Holy Grail but couldn't find the costume -- as a backup, we planned on having Gandalf perform our ceremony. He was not only on board with this, but he also mentioned adding in the "mehwedge" part from The Princess Bride before we brought it up -- Michael totally "got" us. As our wedding day drew nearer, Michael was a total godsend and an absolute pro at what he does! He prepped us for our big day by creating our day-of timeline, he helped with the wedding flow, the table floorplans, he went over what songs to play and when, he even helped us with our vows and what all we wanted him as our officiant to say. I can't say it enough -- Michael is the bomb-diggity! Michael is truly an expert at his craft. If you're looking for a more personalized, true-to-you event... one that everyone attending will remember and enjoy... if you truly want your day to be special, True DJs is definitely the way to go. They're not one of those cookie-cutter, cheesy, run-of-the-mill DJ teams that have the corny line dances that belong at middle-school dances. My wedding day wouldn't have been as amazing at it was without Michael and his team. They made it easy, Michael made it fun, and he made it personal. Michael was one of the BEST decisions we made for our wedding. We used his services for our cocktail hour, wedding ceremony, and reception. We found True DJs of Dallas from our venue's preferred vendor list, and we scheduled a meeting with Michael at his studio in Deep Ellum pretty early in our planning process. Michael was personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. My fiance and I were blown away by how much time he spent with us, how much wisdom and words of advice he shared, and how well we got along. In that first meeting - before we ever signed anything or agreed to work together - Michael put together a detailed timeline of our entire wedding start to finish and shared it with us. It took so much pressure off (completely removed our need for a day-of coordinator, which was HUGE), and made us feel like we were in great hands. He also had recommendations for other vendors we still needed to hire. We booked Michael pretty much right away after receiving his proposal later that night. Honestly, the value Michael brought to our wedding far exceeds his price tag! After we signed our contract, we used Michael's online planning tool to choose some of our important songs (first dance, processional/recessional, father/daughter dance, etc.), but we really didn't want to micro manage the process. We told Michael what we liked and what we thought our guests would like, and he took it from there. We are so glad we trusted his expertise! Throughout planning, Michael was responsive to emails, and even took the time for a phone call on a holiday weekend because I was struggling to decide if we needed a day-of coordinator or not. Michael was upfront about what he could and couldn't do day of, and his insight really helped make the decision. (I didn't end up hiring a coordinator, and I don't regret the decision at all. We didn't need one; Michael was right!) The day of the wedding, Michael showed up early with his assistant and was ready to go with plenty of time to say hello, give us a run down (without bogging us down with details - so nice!), and coordinate with our other vendors, including our Rabbi to get the lapel mic set up, know what to watch for during our ceremony, etc. Michael ran our reception from start to finish (we're talking grand entrance to last dance/send off) and TOTALLY NAILED IT. He communicated with us all night, watched us for cues, and kept everyone on the dance floor until the last moments of our party! It was amazing. The only, and I do mean ONLY, thing that I wish had gone slightly differently is that our hora (traditional Jewish wedding dance) was a little longer. However, that is not something I feel we could have planned for in advance as there are too many determining factors, such as guest participation. Again, Michael was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and we recommend him and his team 100%. Working with people you like and trust goes a LONG way, especially on one of the biggest (most expensive) days of your life. I never felt stressed or questioned our decision about this aspect of our wedding. HIRE MICHAEL. He is the most awesome. We want to throw this party every year and have him run the show. P.S. When you get compliments about the DJ, weeks after your wedding, you know you did it right. Mike loves what he does, and takes it very seriously. He is professional to the n'th degree, while being fun and compassionate to your desires for your big day. He seriously wants to know all types of music you both like so that he can incorporate as much as possible about you both, into your day - and he does it! As only 2 small examples, my husband likes Tool, and Michael nailed it and incorporated the perfect spot of the perfect Tool song into our initial walk into the reception as husband and wife - it was AWESOME, while I wanted a specific, sappy country song after our first dance, and he found it and plugged it in perfectly. We were having a fairly intimate wedding, only 70 people total, of all ages, but mostly a bit older, and he was on point making sure people were moving, up and talking, dancing, enjoying the night. He checked in with us often during our year long engagement, asking questions, getting updates - which vendors are we using, do we need referrals for anything - makeup, hair, food, bartenders, cars, cakes... nothing went undone or unknown about our big day. He even goes so far as to set up a timeline for the big day so there is no reason for confusion or wondering what is done and when, which was huge for me to be able to relax and just enjoy the moments. As my father was going to be making a speech, Mike took him aside and explained how to use the microphone - little things like that that simply make the whole day as smooth as silk. Our photographer wanted to have a bit more time after the ceremony to take pics in the vineyard, so I asked Mike if that would be ok, since he was going to be playing music during the pre-reception time, to which Mike said "absolutely, it's your day, enjoy it!!" I would have expected anyone else to throw a fit that another vendor was trying to change the timeline, not Mike, he rolls with the punches and makes sure your day is golden. I enjoyed and trusted him so much that I even asked if he would be our officiant - best decision ever. He put in some funny spots to our vows, which were personalized, and was very much a part of bringing my husband and I together that day. He even brought in Jeremy Duke to assist. He worked the ceremony music and speakers, and anything else needed, as the ceremony was outdoors and they wanted to make sure everything was taken care of and smooth. Jeremy was just as spot-on as him. Sidenote: I texted him the other day to say I had to pull over when a song came on the radio that he'd played at our wedding, and I was so happy with the memories of that night that I couldn't see through the tears to drive. To those of you trying to find that right DJ for your wedding or special event, I'd like to share our awesome experiences with True DJ's of Dallas (Michael Roos) from our wedding day which may help in your decision making. First off, I am sure you read his website and I can tell you that every word is 100% accurate. During the planning of our wedding, we met with Michael in person 3 times to figure out music/genre selections for the ceremony and all activities during the reception. We were blown away with his expertise on the overall layout of the wedding day from beginning to end, he very well could have been the Master of the Ceremony! I am sure many of you that are planning your wedding and with so much on your minds it's so easy to forget the simple things and that's where Michael and his DJs can help. In the beginning, we were not sure of the type of music to play during our ceremony, but we did know that we wanted it to be different and not the same traditional music, I'm not saying that's bad but it wasn't for us. So, Michael suggested the Vitamin String Quartet and we loved them, very cool instrumental music of popular songs from the 80s to current. When I was looking for DJs initially, the main criteria was someone good with the microphone and a solid sound system. I'm an audiophile myself and Michael's sound system is top level and will not disappoint....nice, crisp sound, solid bass and absolutely no distortion! My sister used Michael at her wedding in 2016 and he was Phenomenal, when I started planning my wedding for 2017 the first thing I told her was I wished he could be my DJ but we were trying to keep the cost of my wedding down to use more for the Honeymoon. So instead we hired someone from the family who was supposed to take care of us but instead called THE DAY BEFORE the wedding and canceled... I was in pure panic mode because I knew being that my wedding was in a bar scene that the DJ was crucial. My sister being the lovely person she is called DJ Michael on speed dial and told him what was going on and was hoping she could surprise me with him on my day unfortunately (in a good way) he had an invite for that night but worked with her in her pricing (being the DAY BEFORE my wedding) and had one of his other DJS Nick at Night avaliable not only did he show up and show out he practiced for my wedding for 24 hours before coming just to make sure he was on point! Talk about DJS that put time and dedication into their events he also showed up 3 hours early just to make sure he had it all down. We hired him til 10 but The Groom and I made sure our crowd tipped him well and ourselves because he was such a great dj he didnt mind staying an extra 30 minutes to play music as the guest exited the venue. He was the first one on the dance floor to lead the whip and nae nae and cupid shuffle (trust me i needed his lead) lol and even grabbed the single ladies and got them on the dance floor! Michael Roos DJ'd our wedding in early December 2021 and he did an amazing job. Extremely professional and our wedding may not have gone over so smoothly without him. Our first meeting with Roos was about the timeline for the wedding, the venue and what we may need from him. He stayed in touch throughout the months leading up to the wedding and checked in to make sure we were adding the songs to a special website he uses to make sure everything is organized for the big day. When it came time for the big day itself, he showed up early and was able to get everything set up on his own. We had an outdoor wedding with an indoor reception. He made sure all of the audio was hooked up in the right places and our guests could hear all of the music for the ceremony as well as making sure our officiant had a good mic to be heard. For the reception, he made sure that we were all in the right place at the right time. He wasn't just doing his job as a dj to make sure all of the music we wanted was played. He checked in on us multiple times, making sure we knew that we had 10 min before the bouquet toss, 15 min before the cake cutting, an hour before the final send-off. His communication throughout prep in the months before and the night of was amazing and just what we needed to have a special night. Michael was exceptional from the day we first met him. He was open, funny, and explained our big day in such a way that put us at ease. He helped us create something unique to who we are as a family. We knew that first meeting that we would hire True DJs of Dallas. The process was so simple, we could select our important songs and the do not play list, right from his website. When our wedding day arrived, he came and worked out the walking order with the wedding party, asked about small details and assured us that all will be well. Everything went off without a hitch and exactly as we planned. Michael went above and beyond that day, during pictures he noticed the cake had not been delivered (we had no idea)! Immediately he called and took care of it, next thing I knew the cake was on the table. He kept track of the timeline and kept us on track, we didn't have to worry about a thing, just enjoyed our day. The mother of the bride needed some emotional support and Michael stepped in. The music was flawless, everyone was on the dance floor and having a good time! The grooms' family drove from the Rio Grande Valley to North Texas and he made sure to include plenty of Tejano hits to get us going too! I've never heard set that meshed our families together with a mix of classic rock, new pop, country, rap and Tejano. A guest let us know that it simply was "the best wedding she has ever been to". True DJs of Dallas could not have been a better choice for my husband and I! We met Michael at the Dallas Bridal Show and clicked right away. We were able to schedule a consultation with him at his studio (pre-covid) to discuss what he had to offer before booking. Michael wasn't "gimmicky", he was straight-forward with his recommendations, explained why he recommended them and promised to not play all of the cliche wedding songs (but would if we really wanted them)- exactly what we were looking for! He stayed in frequent contact before the wedding and we had FaceTime meetings to hash out all of the details. He asked for our Spotify playlists to be able to understand our taste in music and provided a music database for us to search and customize must-have songs for our ceremony and reception. There was contact between him and our wedding planner about the wedding timeline and he was very hands-on throughout the whole day. He arrived early with all of his equipment ready to go. We had a November/Covid wedding and he made all of the necessary announcements to ensure our guests and himself stayed safe during our event. What stood out to me was that Michael brought his personality to the wedding and he truly felt like a guest or friend we had invited! There was one moment when got to sit down as a newly married couple to eat dinner and talk for a second and we heard one of our favorite songs playing. What a great memory to have! In a nutshell, the value significant exceeded the cost. Micheal was geniunely as invested in making our day special as we were and it made our lives so much easier. We would highly recommend Micheal! Start to finish, working with Micheal was by far the least stressful part of our wedding planning. My finance (now wife) found him online and we coudn't meet for the standard intro meeting, so he invited us to one of his sets at Capital Pub. We got a great feel for what he liked to play, how he worked and interacted with the crowd. We chatted with him for a few, set up a future meeting, but we pretty sure he was our guy. The planning process was very simple, we told him what we were interested in, what we liked to hear, what our guest like, etc. He shared with us his philisophy, his contigency plans in case something went wrong on the day of wedding, put together some info with on the spot song suggestions (guy's got quite the mental music catalog) and some other thoughts on the day. He worked great with the caterer, venue, photographer, etc and kept the show moving and the party going. He kept everyone engaged, from the young to the old and it was great mix. He arrived early and prepared and stayed late with us. We wanted to reception to feel like a party for everyone and Michael hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth. From the first time talking with Michael on the phone I was amazed by how detail orientated he was. My husband and I met with Michael at his studio on a weekday at around 6:00 but like typical Dallas fashion the traffic was awful and we were running about an hour late I called Michael to let him know and he was extremely understanding and told us to simply get here safe and don't stress. Once we arrived at the studio he asked a lot of questions about our relationship, families, guest, and what we had envisioned for the wedding. His main concern was making sure he really knew us. Then Michael built a detailed timeline for the wedding day from what time he would show up to the when the send off would be. This was all before we said we were going to sign the contract with him. Once we signed with Michael he kept in constant contact with us. The biggest thing he did to make our day perfect was the work he did with our first dance which was 2 songs I picked one and my husband pick another and Michael blended them together to make a perfect example of our relationship. Wow! From start to finish my bride and I couldn't of been happier with Michael Roos and True DJs of Dallas. Everything from the original meeting with him, to the planning of almost song by song of what my wife and I wanted played at the wedding was on point. The things we were seeking in our music selections combined with the thoughts and opinions Michael had made everything go very easy. He had the music timeline of everything that was happening during the wedding and basically could of acted as our wedding coordinator if we needed him to be. We had to have quite the variety in music due to our guest list count to try to please everybody and in our opinion there is no one out there that could of done a better job for what we were asking of him. Everything from country, Texas country, hip-hop, rap, rock n' roll, alternative, classic rock, and a heavy dose of Latin music because my wife's family is Hispanic. I never once saw the dance floor empty or even close to it, Michael kept the music pumping and the party going all night. We only regret not being able to dance more or longer into the night. I found about True Djs of Dallas through a co-worker, and using them was some of the best advice I followed when planning our wedding. Michael took the time to sit down with my wife and I and get to know us which made our experience so much more personable. They have a super organized process which was very helpful in creating our timeline which made the wedding flow smoothly throughout the night. We had several meetings throughout the planning process to ensure the night went exactly how we wanted it. They have so much experience with weddings, and other events; I would recommend following their advice as they know what they are doing! Plus, Michael was super cool with working with our coordinator to make sure everyone was on the same page. The most important part of the DJs job, the music, was flawless. Michael Roos is truly a master! He exceeded our expectations in every way. Plus he is a really nice, sweet and cool guy! The planning process was a breeze. Michael is detailed and organized. He got to know our music preferences and offered suggestions that were spot on. He took the time to research and collect music that would be a good fit for our personalities and our guests. He worked with us and our wedding planner to make sure all of the most important cues of the wedding worked logistically in the space, offering advise and paying special attention to the details I cared about most. The songs he found to play during dinner had people singing and dancing in their seats. He blew us away with his ability to read the crowd on the dance floor and played a great mix of new and old songs that multiple generations could dance to. I found True Djs of Dallas on Yelp as the 2017 AT&T Byron Nelson was in need of an official pavilion and special events DJ & emcee. I reached out through Yelp and Michael responded immediately with interest. As the tournament was rapidly approaching, several last minute sponsor changes took place and Michael was more than flexible and willing to work with our schedule. I sincerely appreciated Michael coming to visit the site early in the week knowing myself and the staff would be busy and scattered all over the course championship weekend. When working with a lot of vendors for a big event, it was so refreshing to not hear from either Michael or Jeremy during their shifts. They knew exactly where to be, when to be there and who to contact with any questions. At some points during the weekend I almost thought "oh my gosh I didn't check on the pavilion, I hope they're here!" I'd walk in to see either Michael or Jeremy set up and playing with a smile on their face. They engaged, entertained and kept the crowd going all weekend long. Seriously, I cannot say enough positive things about True Djs of Dallas. I hired Michael for a VERY last minute corporate event and he NAILED IT! After working with a different vendor for two days preparing for our tenant event, I felt as though I was getting the run around when I was told it would cost over $1000 for two hours of music. I jumped online and goggled "Djs in Dallas", True Djs was the first option. I called for pricing originally but Michael was so eager to help and forthcoming with information that I knew right away he was going to be the right choice for this event (which was the next day, mind you). His contract and payment process is seamless and effortless. Michael showed up on time (ahead of schedule), set up, looked professional and played every song on our request list and in addition added a few songs we wouldn't have thought of for our Summer/Beach themed event. The DJ can make or break your wedding reception. My only tip, hire Michael Roos! You will be beyond impressed. Michael isn't your typical DJ. He does more than just show up and play music. He is emotionally invested into your wedding. Michael got to know Cannon & I prior to our wedding, and he also got to know what our family and guests would be like. That helped give him an idea of what we like to hear and what we know our guests will like. Michael did our music for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. He met and exceeded every measure of what we wanted for our wedding day. I am still getting compliments on the music, and our wedding was weeks ago. Michael read the crowd and played the music that went for the type of guests we had at our wedding. He can please the line dancers, the freestylers, or the good ole sit and chatters. Our best man had an unexpected death in the family, the night prior to the wedding. The speech he wrote was so breath-taking, we asked Michael to read it at our reception and Michael obliged. Michael Roos was both our DJ and officiant. I couldn't have dreamed of a better scenario. When we met Michael to go over the music side of things, we shared how much trouble we were having finding an officiant we meshed with. Without hesitation, he offered to play both roles. We were thrilled. Although it was our first meeting, it felt like we were hanging out with a lifelong friend. Planning was so easy.
