We Didn't get to eat the food at this location, Because when I requested a table I was told without a reservation I only would only be seated outside. I stood and waited. I watched as the tables that were reserved had not filled. I listened to walk-in's leave as they were told the same thing: we are booked for the entire night. Though, there were empty tables. I respect reservations! I appreciate reservations. But we were NOT told "that table is reserved. They have a grace period. Once that has expired we can seat you inside". So, Our meager party of 6 left. So did the couple behind us. I don't believe we will make or break a business but empty tables will. Congratulations, you lost my family of native Arizonans as customers. And you lost our guests who will never give you a second chance. But they'll remember that restaurant they tried to go to but were turned away without a reservation while they had empty tables and customers walking away. read more

I really like how True Food Kitchen partners with companies like AZ Restaurant Week and InKind to give us customers good deals. I participated in their restaurant week deal which got me an edamame dumplings, grass-fed burger, and a small flourless chocolate cake. This cost me $39.64 (includes tax and tip). I would say that the service was fairly lackadaisical. The food itself was above average fare. My favorite was the grass fed burger as the arugula complimented the burger very well. I wasn't quite sure what was inside the edamame dumplings; it didn't taste like edamame to me and I wish there was more of it. read more

This place is interesting. It looks like it tries to blend in with nature. The windows and colors are very vibrant. There are a lot of staff there but not readily available. The charred cauliflowers was incredible! The flavor bursts in your mouth in every bite. The fries were okay could be a lot more crispy especially since they are supposedly air fried. The hamburger was good. The curry bowl with black rice and veggies was creamy with a hint of spice and the veggies were cooked perfectly. We sat on the patio on a rather warm night and the misters were not working or maybe not turned on. It's restaurant week and they have a great menu for it except they only offer one choice for dessert. I ordered an American Burger with kale salad. Two in my party ordered from the restaurant week menu, so I also had some guacamole (excellent), and hummus (also excellent). I loved the kale salad and my burger was as ordered (no pink). Our waiter was a little slow (my water didn't get filled for some time) but definitely friendly. Going to have to eat inside next time the weather is over 95, so I can enjoy my meal. It's too hot to eat much late in the evening. That's not their fault, though!! read more

Breading is a little too flaky for my kid, I do understand that every kid is different. For my kid, she doesn't like the flaky kind. Ordered the kale salad and added protein. I love coming here and treating myself every once in awhile, it's usually when I am close by for a color and cut and then will take myself here for lunch afterwards. I came in here for a late lunch and they have happy hour when I stopped in. Their happy hour is very limited now which is a bummer but the food is quite good if you like clean eating. I had an OG drink which is a non alcoholic fresh ginger honey and soda drink. This was a bit too sweet for me and could have used a side of seltzer with this but the taste was very good. I love their edamame dumplings so I had an order of that today and for happy hour, it's $2 off. I also had their charred cauliflower, I love cruciferous veggies and this had tahini drizzled on top, and with some dates too. Flavor was soo good! I also love that each dish has the calorie count next to it , so you know what you are getting into it! Overall, my meal came to about 700 calories! Sweet! My 7 year old daughter and I ordered then my daughter asked about the dessert menu and told the waitress it's her birthday, we always go there for her birthday. The waitress said she would bring her a dessert for her birthday but never did so my daughter inquired and she said she would have to buy one. Weirdest experience ever! There was no room for us to have misunderstood but who tells a kid they can have dessert then changes their mind. I had to take care of it because I try not to disappoint my kid. Such a great luck spot! My mom, sister, and I came here for a nice lunch during our shopping day. When we tried to go at 12:30 there was a 20 minute wait- which was not bad, but if you don't want to wait I would definitely recommend making a reservation. We were able to sit outside which was perfect. They had light heaters running to make sure everyone was comfortable. Our waiter was nice, but not the most attentive. It took a very long time to get our waters and our check at the end. It was ok given the business of the restaurant. My sister and I both got the teriyaki rice bowl and my mom got the grain bowl with added salmon. Both dishes were excellent. Adding protein on your dishes is an exponential added cost, but worth it in my opinion. Overall this is a really great place in one of my favorite shopping places! read more

Service is always great here and folks that sit at the bar are friendly. The good today was less ending than usual. The charred cauliflower wasn't very charred. Very soft and didn't love the sauce it was in. The guac was ok. I would have enjoyed chunkier. It was better with lime juice added. I substituted soft gluten free bread instead of lavish crackers. The bar was the best part of my meal. For $30+ I would choose differently next time. I still give it 4 stars as toast was an anomaly and other food dishes are generally great. Every time I've come here I've felt very catered to. I think this is one of my favorite restaurants because there is such an intentional focus on the entire environment, like their branded and soft napkins, eco friendly straws, and an emphasis on sustainability in all regards. One waitress I wanted to give a shoutout to was Olivia, who I had spoken with in passing when I did a to-go order, but I was able to get a better understanding of her personality when she waited on my table. She was really sweet and attentive. As for the food, I ordered a cranberry spritz (seasonal) and the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. The person I was with got their Asian wild -caught shrimp, which they enjoyed because of its diverse palette. Everything was great across the board and I love when good restaurants make me take home leftovers and I have another day to enjoy it. What a great place! The moment we walked in, we were greeted and seated. Our sever came over very quickly to greet us and brought us water. I was here with my daughter and one of her best friends. We came over after a nice morning of making lipstick. This was our first time and the server was patient giving us time to look over the menu. A friend I hadn't seen in quite some time recently suggested we dine here and catch up. Since I hadn't dined in at a True Food restaurant for a few years now I said why not. On this visit we decided to start with the edamame dumplings and the Mediterranean hummus to share. The edamame dumplings were as we remembered, the truffle oil was subtle and not overpowering. The hummus was good, had a nice zest of spice to it, the accompanying flatbread was a bit hard for our preferences. For our main entrees, we decided to order one ancient grain bowl and two orders of the grass-fed burger with a side of kale salad and sweet potato hash. The grass-fed burger was cooked to medium rare perfection. It wasn't soggy, too salty or overwhelming. The two sides also balanced each other well, a nice combination of sweet, sour, and savory. Overall, the service was warm, friendly and attentive. Our server Hayley was fantastic! Since the decision to dine here was kind of last minute, we weren't able to make reservations ahead of time. There was about a twenty-five-minute wait when we went for lunch on a Friday afternoon, so I highly recommend making reservations since this restaurant is in a prime area. One thing I liked about this location is that they have ample seating options both indoors and outdoors. read more

They have a good menu with a ton of variety on it. Portions are good sizes too. Since you're in Scottsdale, it is a little pricey. They do have a good happy hour though! Recently, I had their Jambalaya Pasta and it was excellent. Paired it with a Spicy Mango Margherita that had the perfect kick to it. Very good! I am disappointed and I had such high hopes because I've been a long time lover of True Food. I heavily support the healthier mission and love the extensive gluten free options. We came for my sister's birthday which was noted in our reservation. The hostesses acknowledged this. Yet this information seemed to have been lost as after we finished our entrees the server set down our bill... we looked at her in confusion and said it was my sister's birthday and she had no idea. Once we picked out a dessert it took 15 minutes for it to arrive which was ironic because our food came out even faster. And there was no candle on it. There was a lack of communication once again and we had to ask the food runner to grab a candle, to which she then said the dessert would be taken off the bill (as if it wasn't going to be already). We wanted a great experience for my sister's birthday because she chose True Food herself but we were disappointed in the restaurant not properly celebrating her or making her feel special. The food - seems to have gone slightly downhill. We started with the seasonal butternut squash pizza on a gf crust and this was definitely as tasty as I remember from years ago. Sweet and savory, buttery, yum! I got the Asian shrimp and it was very beautifully presented and had a lot of shrimp but it needed salt - and I never say this for a meal. It had a milder ginger Asian taste to it, but the rice was cooked beautifully and the shrimp had a good smokiness to it. My dad got the gf buffalo chicken sandwich and said it was okay as the chicken was dry. He did love the butternut squash soup side and we all tried and agreed. Warming and comforting. My sister got the chicken Parmesan and we didn't notice until later but the server must've assumed everyone was gf when we are all not and gave her the gf penne not the Campanelle pasta it usually comes with.... I don't know if true food makes their own regular pasta but they definitely don't make their own gf pasta given it's the Typical penne so it was disappointing she didn't get her fresher regular pasta. Otherwise she enjoyed her meal and the chicken was a large portion. My mom got the teriyaki quinoa and enjoyed it, nice amount of veggies but also needed a touch of salt! We overall weren't super impressed and left saying it was "just good but could've been better ". I know true food prides itself on its service and unfortunately it missed the mark several times. We gave it another go- because everyone has an off day. Well, I'm not sure what's going on at True Food but it's just not what it used to be. Service was pretty good but it's falling down in the food flavor and quality of preparation I guess! I can't resist the Tuscan kale salad- I love it so much I have the recipe and make it at home. I make it. Better than they do now apparently- because last time I ordered it my taste buds nearly cried- all the flavor the bunch of the dressing- Gone! My husband's Turkey burger was overcooked, had been over sauced and he even commented on the kale salad being so different. The portions are smaller, meals less flavorful and yet prices are increasing. I'm so saddened to say with these recent experiences...we may be skipping True Food for dining out.
