I used service of Tru Green for about 5 years. no contract signed. in April 2025, they came and fertilized lawn..front and back...charge $227.21. Both areas were covered with snow and ice. I phoned Tru Green office to cancel services. I contacted an Edmonton Lawn Company to look after my yard to begin May 2025. Tru Green came again on May 13...Lawn service1..cost$92.73. Called again to inform no longer needed their services. May 20...lawn service by Tru Green $92.73. Now owe Tru Green $421.95. Before this year I had good service from Tru Green. I just can not recommend....very disappointed I had my first lawncare service with TruGreen on May 15th and I am extremely disappointed. They were supposed to provide weed control, fertilizer treatments. For 12 years, I have done this on my own and this time due to a very busy schedule, I thought I'd ask the 'experts'. And 2-3 weeks later and I see that their weed control treatment has had little to no impact. I asked for a refund and I am still waiting. They refuse to address the situation. Worse lawn care services I e have ever had ever. Call to say there coming then don't. Today they came and left a note saying no one was home and pets were out. 2 people were home and we do have a doorbell which wasn't rang because we have 2 dogs and they would have barked. ya cat was outside but we have a front yard that could have been sprayed. When they use weed killer, they use a little can which doesn't have spread to the whole yard which results in not all the weeds being sprayed. Zero stars! I just started using true green last month, because the owner of the other half of my duplex use them. TruGreen was very responsive to sell me a package, and come out and did the first application with my neighbours. They come last week and did hers but not mine. I have called a few times and have been given 3 times they would show up and nothing, I asked to speak to the branch and was told they do not have that number and I could not call them they only deal through the customer service line. Sadly after having Tru Green servicing my acreage I received a call from one of their sales personnel and had to cancel the. This person was so rude and pushy, wouldn't take no for my final answer inspire of my trying to tell him I did not want the fall aeration service. I finally had to resort to telling him he needed to listen to me and inspire of this I ended up cancelling their service. I did get a very pleasant phone call from the manager but by that time I was so upset for the way I had been treated. Truegreen sustains that they have a strict policy about make sure that gates stay closed after service. NOT TRUE. The staff left my gate open(Aug 4th 2022) and my son who is 8 years old , special needs, non verbal , escaped. Edmonton, Mactaggart area. 911, police, firemen, ambulance were involved to find him. I haven't received a call from the manager even when I texted him twice. That's their commitment with customers. I want what I payed for future services, back. Absolutely dissapointing. read more

So, I've been dealing with Trugreen lawn care since Aug 2017 about the chunks they took out of my concrete steps when the drove the aerator up them. The chips had been swept off into the rock garden beside, and notice provided that damage was done. Only after a long drawn out back and fourth did I find out that they subcontract out aeration to other people. As of last fall, I finally got the local Trugreen manager to agree to replace my steps (after calling the head offices in Canada and US). So, spring comes and I find out the manager cancels the construction saying that he doesn't like that the price has gone up since last years quote. TLDR - Trugreen subcontracts our aeration - Trugreen will try to get you to go away by not getting back to you or dragging their heels - Trugreen will try to get you to accept a non-lasting, terrible looking patch job - Trugreen will "offer" small sums of money to make the problem go away - Trugreen will balk at the final quoted price of replacement when they could have handled it for cheaper at the beginning read more

this was my first year using Trugreen and I've had a horrible experience so far. I had a technician burn my lawn by going to slow with the weed control and I had to have a deep fertilizing and extra soil and seeds to repair all the damage not to mention my time and water is trying to bring it back. I requested that that same technician not come to my house again but four weeks later he did and once again he burned my lawn with the weed control I am at my wits end I will never use this service again or would I ever recommend it to anyone read more

Need to ensure you read the fine print. They use deceiving wording.. "First Application for $34.95*" But in fact it is not first application... you need to sign up for annual and then you get the discount. VERY DECEIVING! Especially if the sales persons emphasis' first application is only $34.95 and you can cancel anytime. TERRIBLE! read more

TruGreen is very professional, on the time service, and even if a scheduling conflict comes up they let me reschedule my app for another day, also the technicians are very knowledgeable and know what to do in a timely and efficient manner, also the sales people are amazing, they know when to address an issue if I have any and know what solution to bring up upon addressing it. read more

TruGreen was supposed to spray my next door neighbor's yard and sprayed mine instead. Not only is Trillion - the pesticide that they use - not safe for children, pets or the environment (even though they claim that it is), my son breaks out in hives when he comes into contact with pesticides. We would never have used their services and I am disgusted and angry that this company has caused a health concern for my family. To Summarize in one sentence, they conducts business like scammers. Stay clear of this company at all costs...there are many lawn care companies in Edmonton now and most of them are offering to beat True Green's prices and I bet at least half of them will be honest. Now we got that out of the way, here's my full story. I signed up last year and I clearly told them that I only needed their services for a year, and they said that was no problem. Fast forward to spring of 2019 they show up at my yard, do some work for 5 min and send me a bill for $70. So I called them and informed them that they did this without my permission and are now charging me for it. Then their customer service lady tells me that they sent me letter and in the fine print it says that their services are ongoing and that they can keep charging you year after year....even though I told them clearly when I signed I only wanted it for a year( they never informed me upfront about me having to cancel, they made it seem as if the contract would end as of 2018) and now they're forcing me to pay because of some fine-print bullsh!t they know people won't read. Then I try to patiently explain this to the customer service person about my situation and she doesn't listen at all and just repeats the same thing about the fine print in the letter again and again. I try to negotiate with her about the fees and she threatens me saying that if I don't pay my bill fully she'll send my bill to a collection agency. So not only do they have hidden stuff in the contract that they don't tell you about, but their customer diservice department tries to screw you when you go to sort things out. From my experience and from a few others I can say for sure that this whole organization is built on one pillar and that's DECEIT so its only a matter of time and awareness until this business falls apart. read more

This is the first time I've written a bad review online. I'm a very patient, easy-going person. I have spent thousands of dollars with this company over the last 5 years...HUGE yard and I always got full services. Last summer, they came and sprayed the soapy substance on my trees and shrubs for insects. The next day, my 5 years old, 10 feet tall Dreamweaver crabapple tree shrivelled up! My first thought was "struck by lightning???". I called TruGreen to please send a manager out to have a look. They did not. A few days later, a second tree died, and a few days after that the third one went. I paid $400 per tree 5 years ago, ($1200). I am very upset at the loss of my beautiful trees, but am willing to let the company give me an explanation. I called again for them to send a manager and still nothing. A while later, they knock on my door wanting to do service. I said not until someone looks at my damaged trees and sent them away. (I had already prepaid for all the services for the year). Finally, they send someone, he tells me he is a manager and he looks at the trees and says they have to send a tree expert out. It's weeks later and a regular guy comes to spay the trees again. I explained the situation to him and he went back to his truck to Google it (this was the first helpful employee I encountered here) He tells me its Fire Rot and not because of the spray. Satisfied with his answer, I let him spray the shrubs, but not the rest of my trees. A few weeks later, the guy who told me he was a manager knocked on my door to spray my trees and shrubs again. I allowed him to spray the shrubs and in doing so, he managed to spray my kids who were playing on the deck!!! Clearly, he was not a manager!!! I called Davey Tree Service to have a real tree expert come out. He told me that my trees died because they were sprayed in too hot weather, which is what I suspected all along. I called TruGreen to let them know that I was still waiting for their "expert" to show up, and that I don't want any more service until that happens. While I was away for a few days, they had come and aerated my lawn AND left me a bill for it. I called and told them that this service was not authorized and they still kept sending me late bills. Again, I asked to escalate this to a manager, and still nothing. DO NOT use this company, they are extremely unprofessional. They killed my trees worth $1200, not to mention the sentimental value. The way they do their billing feels like a SCAM! I will not recommend to anyone, and in fact, my neighbours who use them will be informed of my experience. Update: The afternoon after I posted this, a Representative left a message letting me know that my final bill did not go to collections, which is what I was worried about. The company credited the $100+ back in November. My trees still remain dead. read more

I have used this company for many years. Service has always been completed as agreed. I have occasionally been home and met the reps/ techs, and they have all been professional and respectful. Avoid these people like the plague! They are con artists, reviews with details are all over the internet. They will have you pay upfront for the year or offer you some free service as part of a package and then charge you after the fact and send it to collections immediately. My mom paid up front for the whole year and then they just kept coming and spraying and eventually billed her SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS. I have used Tru Green for more than 3 years. This year has been the worst. My lawn is steadily dying and I have requested service. I have emailed twice and received 3 calls which ensure me that a manager will call me. This is yet to happen. I had 3 service calls in 3 weeks to assess the problem with my lawn. I got 3 different answers, none of which made sense. I have given them every opportunity to tell me what to do to fix the problem and they can't be bothered to reply. I have had a terrible experience with this company. A representative came to my home. I told them the only way I could do their service is if they can do Saturday only services because I have a dayhome. He assured me they could. As part of doing a contract and paying in full, you get a discount. However, the guy couldn't get through to anyone to take my payment, so the discount wasn't applied to the account. I then called the company to get the charges corrected. Then I got a call about a week later from their corporate offices telling me they didn't do Saturday services, so I cancelled the contract. Then a few days later I got a call from the local office telling me they did do Saturday services and they re-activated my contract. Then today, about a week since the last call, I got a call from the local branch manager telling me they didn't do Saturday services. This company has no idea what they are doing. the edmonton office phone number automatically puts you through to their 'all of canada call centre' i pressed the button to request a call back - it has been over i hour and i am still waiting. the service i asked for on may 4th is still not done. today is may 18th and i am still waiting. i left specific instructions not to do the vegitation control when it rains on the day it is to be applied - it will just wash away that day. i have called the call centre 9 times and they say 'yes they will be out according to your specifications' - they still are not here. i have been waiting for four and one half hours and they still have not called or come today. i cancelled all my appointments to be home until noon - as i want to show them where and what needs to be sprayed in my yard. i have been a loyal good customer and have got several of my neighbors using them too. how much do you care about your customers?. i am not satisfied and i am very upset. - they obviously do not want my business!!!!! i want to talk to the edmonton manager - but the call centre won't give me an e-mail/ph# or name how am i ever going to get this resolved? - if you care about me call me s.d. at 780 468 5137 - hopefully before christmas. read more

Untrustworthy service. Called me twice to appoint for my last prepaid lawn fertilizer and I both times said to save it for the next summer as my lawn was already died and it's snowing in November. WORST COMPANY EVER!!! A representative came and sold me on a package promising that they would spray the weeds in my flower beds promising me that the spray would be safe for my bushes and flowers... A few weeks later someone came while I was at work and did my first "spray", left an invoice in my door and left. No instruction was given as to how long it would take for the weeds to die.. After about 3 weeks of the weeds not dying but in fact, multiplying, I decided to call and complain and have another technician come out to respray. When the new technician came out he confirmed that no one had actually sprayed and that the girl who had came to "spray" actually just dropped off an invoice and left! Furthermore, the technician told me that he was unable to spray my flower beds because the formula is NOT safe for my flower and bushes. Trugreen needs to train their sales staff to understand what they are actually selling!! I called this company and paid them $146. to come out and do a weed application and they never showed up. I called they said they would be out the next day for sure, no show again. When I called for a refund was told their system was down and to call back in 2 hours. Frustrated with no response I filed a chargeback with my credit card company, now they keep sending my invoices for overdue payment. The latest one says that if I don't pay it will effect my credit report. The credit card sided with me so I won the chargeback yet they keep sending me invoices. I sent them a letter explaining what happened, still no response. Today I tried to call and even though it was office hours no one is answering the phone. This company did not provide the service I paid for and is very unprofessional and has no customer service at all. My suggestion is to call another lawn care company, don't use this one, you won't get what you pay for then they will harass you for payment. read more
