Before we ended the call, I confirmed with the rep that we wanted to make monthly payments and he lied and said the account was setup as pay as you go, AFTER he had already deducted the $981 from our account. When we realized, we called back and got terrible customer service. They took $981 from us that we did not authorize and I couldn't even get a call back from management. I called several times to no avail! I couldn't even get a manager on the phone to speak with me. They kept giving me the run around saying they couldn't return my funds until 4 days later. I cancelled my service a year ago. They constantly went to the wrong house despite all 4 of the houses in my cul-de-sac having clear numbers in front of the houses. They would service my neighbors yard, they left my gates open multiple times. They kept charging me for "grubs," I only asked for seed and fertilizing, I don't know what a grub is and I wasn't having issues. So a year ago I cancelled it completely. The manager said he would never do another grub service at my location. He said he may call me "about this time of the year," to ask for seeding and fertilizer option. I sold my house 1.5 months ago. My billing address changed as well. I didn't update it because I didn't plan on ever talking to them again for service. Tuesday I got a message I was to have service Wednesday morning for grubs. After I saw it, I tried to contact them, they were closed. I signed into my account, deleted my forms of payments.. and emailed customer service and told them of all the problems with this service and I didn't want it, I don't live there and I had cancelled it a year ago. Wednesday morning. Got a notification my service was completed for grubs, I almost at the same time got an email that my service was cancelled and shouldn't have been charged anything. Thursday morning my account was charged $62.09. In doing this they consistently ran a bad card, with a bad billing address. This locked all my cards, locked all my banking accounts. I spent 1 hour on the phone trying to correct that and get it opened. I had to get a new debit card. After the bank did that and said I would get my new cards in 7 business days. I called Trugreen and after 40 minutes with a horrible lady she said, "I may be able to offer you 20% off the service." I told her I would see every employee in court before I accepted that. After a few emails, and reviews Sandy called me and said I would be refunded, the $62.09 and a $56 credit I had from last years issues with the grub service I never asked for. She said, the account has been removed and I can call her if there are any more issues, she did confirm my account service was cancelled last year and apologized because she don't know what any of this happened. Well since then, a company that monitored my credit has once again had the bank lock all my cards and accounts because they used old information. I never thought to tell them updated issue because it is a free service. I have no access to my credit or debit cards again. Since 3 today, after getting it back and fixed about 4 yesterday. I won't have access tomorrow, and may get it fixed sometime Monday after another hour on the phone. This has been the most vile experience I have ever had, it should have never happened. read more

When selling on the telephone, they will promise you all sorts of great treatments then, after you have paid for the wonderful treatments, they come spray the minimum required to almost kill the weeds and then argue with you for the rest of the year about all the treatments you thought you had paid for but, that they are never going to do.......until you pay for them AGAIN! I've had to call them back, after they spray treatments, to ask them to please treat the back lawn, too! Grrrrr, ridiculous! Then later, after the weeds don't die, I get to call them again! I don't even know where to begin with this company. Possibly the worst firm I have ever dealt with. Let's start with their lawn care, their product. My yard started off above average, just needed some consistent treatment through the summer months, and it could become a very nice healthy lawn. Hired Tru Green in February, let them go through October. Keep in mind, that Tru Green is supposed to treat your front and back yards. By October, my front yard looked about twice as worse as when Tru Green started. My backyard looked, literally about four times worse. All manner of weeds took over. Now granted, I don't think the technician actually treated my backyard but perhaps three or four times. Which is sadly another ripoff from this company, they cut corners. The technicians seem to have about zero interest in killing weeds or growing grass. They are just trying to rush through their routes so they can hurry home. I don't know if they are disgruntled, lazy, or just plain unsupervised. Now that we have established that Tru Green has a poor product, let's talk about the customer service. Now they are nice and helpful over the phone. They will offer you free treatments when you complain. The question you ask is "Why do I want more of your treatments that have grown nothing but weeds in my yard?" I promise you folks, Saddam's garden was looking better after a month of sustained bombing than my yard was after eight months with Tru Green. Finally, and here's my major issue with Tru Green: they are like an unkillable weed. It is okay to have a terrible service. Normally you just cancel it, and you move on to professionals that can grow grass. I cancelled Tru Green in October 2019. Come February 2020, I receive an eBill from these grass goons. They came out and treated my lawn after having been cancelled. On the phone, again nice people, they refunded my money and cancelled my service for a second time. The explanation was "We must have assumed you meant cancel the service for 2019 and pick back up in 2020." Yeah, that's kind of bordering on criminal fraud. So I get these guys cancelled again. Lo and behold, April 2020 arrives and I get another eBill from Tru Green. They simply will not go away, will not take no for an answer. They are the Harvey Weinsteins of lawn care. Get out of my life, leave me alone, stop calling me, I don't want your lawn service, I don't want your mosquito spray, I JUST WANT TRU GREEN TO GO AWAY. I have yet to contact them over this latest fake bill, because I have not made up my mind whether to pursue a civil action against them. If someone from Tru Green reads this, my simple advice is a) leave people alone that have cancelled you, and b) improve your service and you won't have to work so hard selling your business. there must be a way for them to vet the people they are hiring to treat the lawns, because lots of them are basically pulling up to the properties and pretending to treat the lawns by just sitting in their vehicles, and basically pulling off after they put the sign in the yard. How lazy can one person be? If you're already at the property, why not get out and treat the lawn like that person is paying you their hard earned money to do. It's sad because when Trugreen actually does treat the yard it's beautiful. I have had a good experience many years ago but the employees they're hiring now is going to run this company in the ground. Last year after a major landscaping upgrade to our property that included installation of of new sod in some areas of our property, we hired TruGreen to aerate the areas of old sod in hopes it would refresh those areas of the lawn. I was very specific in describing which areas were new sod and which areas were already established older sod. We did not want our new sod disturbed before it had the chance to establish roots. They sent out a worker who had no clue what it was that we wanted other than aeration, and he was not able to distinguish newly laid sod from older established sod. He proceeded to aerate our new lawn, which I understand is a very bad idea for newly laid sod. I will not use this company again. read more

I signed up for TruGreen and prepaid for a year. I saw the so-called tech Brandon treat my lawn in less than 5 minutes, and he never went over the weeds location. He also did not treat part of my yard. After reading all the reviews of how difficult it is to get a refund, and how many people have stated that Brandon stopped for a few minutes and just put flags on lawns without treating the lawn, and after talking with several different customer service agents at TruGreen, I do not trust them and want to cancel and get a complete refund. TruGreen in Memphis, TN is not providing the service I'm paying for; my yard still has weeds; several days ago TruGreen serviced my yard, on the bill it say they put down weed control and treated the entire yard.. I have pictures of dandelion weeds thriving in my yard and they could've service the entire yard because the back and side yards were lock; I never received a call that they were coming. In the past I've called TruGreen back out; when the technician arrives he put a sprayer on his back; rather than spray the entire yard they spot spray a couple of weeds and leave. When you call back they tell you it's almost time for your regular service and they'll take care of it then; it's a vicious circle. My lawn has never looked better... I am thrilled with my lawn, it is very healthy and green. James is a great technician and works with us to help us achieve the lawn we want. The weed control is great but it does take constant effort, especially with the bird and animals that continuously drop seeds in our lawn. I scheduled an extra treatment with TruGreen and I spoke with the man who came to do the extra treatment and he said that the previous people who had come to spray in February and January did not do their jobs because you have a yard full of Spring weeds. He said that a lot of the times the people with TruGreen will come to your yard and won't spray for weeds because they don't want to do the extra work and just want to get home. Do NOT use this service!! I signed up for yard care, trees and bushes and mosquito service. I foolishly paid in full for all serves $1371. The tech came out and spent 5 minutes at my home and left. My back gate is kept licked and I instructed them to call me upon arrival and I would unlock the gate. I work at home full time. As stated they never called me and only stayed 5 minutes. There was NO treatment to my back yard and there was no noticeable improvement to my yard. After reading some of the other reviews, I have had a similar experience. I prepaid for the entire year, explained that I had brown and multiple dirt spots across the front and back yards and the sales person said no worries we will seed and get your yards looking brand new. I paid for the extra seeding services "required" to fix everything in addition to the yearly service. The first visit I wasn't home but reviewed on camera as the tech completed. Not knowing what to expect beforehand, I just assumed the 5 or so mins that he was there was normal. Well here we are month and a half later and there were two people who seemed to be very rushed or just trying to get their day over with because they very carelessly "sprayed" both the front and back, with multiple areas not even getting wet etc, and there were weeds still present in those same areas on the first visit. One guy used their spreader on the back but not the front. Again.....the front is the worst and is the very reason I signed up, so that it would be "brand new". Both placed the little signs, jumped in their truck and sped off. I was literally thinking to myself.... What just happened?? Fast forward to today, I get another sales call stating that all of the bushes around my house (I don't have any bushes) are infested with bugs/disease and went on and on about that I needed this service and that he was offering a really good deal on it. I mentioned that I don't have any bushes and perhaps the tech that relayed that information could have mistaken my home for someone else's. He was persistent that it was mine, so I let him finish his pitch, and then declined. However, since I did complete the survey once the 2nd visit was completed, someone called and stated that a branch manager would be coming by and contacting me to personally review my property and make the necessary corrections. I have yet to see or hear from any said manager, so while on the phone with this person, I asked about what to expect as a new customer etc etc and I was completely appalled at his response. "Oh, well you're property is only .... Sq ft and any one could treat your yard in 5 mins" and we don't do any seeding work until early fall / September so I'm not sure why they would have told you that about your front yard" I explained that was the entire reason I signed up and even paid for the whole year upfront was so that I didn't have to deal with any of it, much less do any of the work myself, and my yard would be taken care of and have peace of mind. Now that I've read getting any type of refund is almost impossible, I simply wanted to share my experience so that any potential new customers have a fair chance and know what they could be getting themselves in to. No matter how smooth the salespeople are, they are trying to make their numbers and will obviously tell you what you want to hear just to close a sale. While I do understand the pandemic, staffing shortages, etc and I tend to think I am a very patient and more than understanding person, I don't ask for a lot but I do expect to receive the quality services that I paid for. And based on this persons actions on camera and just the overall carefree sense of work ethic, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. True Green called out to Aerate an acre of land in Bloomfield Hills, MI. One man on Big machine and one man pushed small machine to go around trees/shrubs. When large machine had machanical failure, they used the small push machine to do what the large one was doing. It was NOT effective, not doing the big job/acrage effectivly. As I watch them work, he only used small push machine just to go around trees and shrubs. When I called to complain about the difference in effectiveness, I had to insist, debate, beg for them to come back out and do it right! They picked a cloudy day to send them out, started sprinkling, they put big machine back on truck and left! I called again to tell them they left without doing the work, they refused a return on good day! I sold the property without them ever completing the job they were PAID to do! read more

We are very dissatisfied with this company. After two years and about $1300, our yard looks worse than before. After the first year the lawn looked a little better so we gave them another chance. During the first year we had the same service person but the second year our technicians were all different. I cancelled our service when in the fall our technician applied a weed killer treatment over two inches of leaves. When a supervisor called to try to persuade me to reinstate our contract, I told her that my yard looked worse and that all but one of my yearly treatments were for weeds not fertilizer. She apologized and offered to provide a free fertilizer treatment in the spring. I said no thank you and just ended my service. A month or so later another supervisor called to try to convince me to reinstate my service. I told him that my yard looked worse and that the former supervisor had checked her computer and agreed with me that I had gotten weed treatments instead of fertilizer. He argued with me and said he would only do a soil test if I rehired TrueGreen. I wouldn't and recommend that you don't either. read more

After calling to request lawn care services, the guy on the other end of the phone blabbed on and on for so long trying to sell us more than what we were looking for. It was a huge turn off considering we weren't concerned with the pricing of services, but rather the quality of the job. Anyhow, fast forward to the day our service was supposed to take place and boom...NOTHING. Nobody ever showed up to service our lawn and nobody called to give a reason why. Mind you, this is AFTER they collected a pretty penny from us for the "plan" we chose--which is really just a bunch of bull. When we called the company to inquire about why nobody showed up to service our lawn after being told (and receiving text messages) confirming the date someone was supposed to show, the lady on the phone HUNG UP ON ME. Then, get this: When I called back and talked to another lady to tell her how this other lady had just hung up on me, she was extremely cocky and arrogant--even going so far as to say that it was "impossible". I signed up for TruGreen a couple of months ago because I noticed several brown spots in my front yard. The first representative that came out was only at my property for about five minutes. They never attempted to speak to me or give me advice or let me know what the issue might be, so I went out and asked him several questions but he seemed extremely nonchalant and gave me very minimal answers. There's been two more treatments with my lawn, in my lawn has only gotten worse with larger dead spots and more brown spots. I have attempted to reach out to customer service several times now and they recently sent out a rep who took a look at my front yard and said that it looks like there's a fungus and he's putting in for a soil sample. A representative was supposed to come out today to take the soil sample, however they showed up appeared to do nothing and put that they were unable to complete my request in the notes on the app. I reached out to customer service yet again which appears to just be a middleman who put your requests in to the actual branch that you were working with and they told me that they would reschedule the service for 2 days from now. Why didn't the first three representatives recommend a soil sample when they're seeing my lawn getting worse with each day, and how come my weeds in my lawn only seem to be getting worse? I also really don't like that there's no local representative that you can reach out to to speak with directly about issues that you have. I'm waiting for a response from someone local or from a customer service representative who can figure out how to fix my issue. It seems like each day that goes by I'm becoming more frustrated in my lawn is getting worse and it seems like nobody has any urgency to help me out. I pre-paid for six treatments like others on here which seems like it was a poor decision. An absolute JOKE. I called them 10 days ago about a fungus problem in my yard. I spoke with a nice and enthusiastic man who told me he would have someone come and assess the problem and either call me or leave a notice on the door. A week later, nada. No call. No nothing. Called back and got a rude and arrogant person who said his name was "Charles". He told me he had no way of knowing whom I had spoken to and that all he could do was start the process over. I asked to speak to the manager and was basically hung up on. I finally spoke to a "Danita" who identified herself as a supervisor. She said she would have someone at the "local Memphis office" contact me. I have still not heard from anybody. I've found TruGreen very easy to work with and their weed control is highly effective. They always call and let me know when to expect the technician to come to the house and, if necessary, make it easy to reschedule. Also, if it rains too hard right after an application, they come out again, at no charge, to reapply. We're very happy with TruGreen's service and will continue with them. read more

Where to begin. I called TruGreen to establish service to help with weed control in my yard. I scheduled the service, pre-paid the year, and was told they would be there on Tuesday, 2/19/19 for my for scheduled treatment. I received the day before phone call confirming my service date. The day came and went and no service. I called the next day and they said the technician told the customer service center that he completed the job at 4:45 PM. I have ring cameras around my house and I told the customer service person that the technician never came to my house. I was told the local service manager would give me a call to discuss within 48 hours. The next day the service technician called me and said he accidentally marked my yard is complete but meant to reschedule it because he did not have time to get there. I told him that wasn't an issue if they can get to my yard this week. He said he would be back on Thursday to complete my yard.Thursday come and went and no service. I called back in to the service center asking for assistance and they said that the manager was supposed to reschedule that and he rescheduled it for March 4 Thursday come and went and no service. I called back into the service center asking for assistance and they said that the manager was supposed to rescheduled it and he rescheduled it for 03/05/19. I asked why the technician told me Tuesday that he would be there on Thursday and not next week and they said they did not know. I asked for the service manager to give me a call so we can discuss the issues. He called me and said he will ensure everything will be done to my satisfaction on the next date of 03/05/19. Well today is that day and they came by and they only use the broadcast spreader to spread fertilizer and did not spray the yard and treated per the contract. When I called customer service center again the agent told me there was confusion on their side and they failed to make note that they needed to re-spray my yard because the initial spray was not completed. I asked why it was up on me the customer to continually follow up when I paid for services that I was not receiving? They promised me a resolution this week again and hopefully they come through this time. I would never recommend TruGreen to anyone in the greater Memphis area for the lack of accountability of the technicians doing the work they said they've done, the failure of management to address the issues and respond to the customers. read more

I have used TruGreen for I can't count the years. I have always been satisfied with the technicians. However, calling the company was always a challenge. If I wanted a date changed it was hardly ever passed on to the tech and they would arrive at my house and I would have to send them away and reschedule. This happened frequently. A little over two years ago my husband and I moved, but rented the house and continued with the service. One day the billing statements stopped arriving and I called to make sure they had our new address. Next thing I know, I wake up and they are at my new home, performing a service here. That was early in 2022. Since then I received no new statements, no emails and no phone calls. Then the other day I received a letter from a collection agency saying TruGreen had sent my bill to them. I was furious. I called and not very pleasantly asked what was happening. They had an incorrect phone number for me, but had no other excuse as to why I had not received an email or any other form of warning before they sent my bill to collection. I am rarely late on a bill but the one or two times it happened I received two notices first. I also left a message on their Messenger on their Facebook page. A very nice lady named Shasta H. contacted me by phone and by Messenger and told me she would give me a refund as that was for the service they had performed at my new address and that it was their mistake, which it was and that she would re-instate my service at the other house, which they had cancelled. They didn't have my permission to do either. The next day, I received a call from a man saying that if i wanted to re-instate my service I would have to pay for the entire year up front. I contacted Shasta and asked her to get back in touch. My husband and I were driving to Vegas for my husband's 40th Navy reunion and our 39th wedding anniversary, so I told her that Tuesday at 4pm would be a good time to call me. Well that didn't happen. I told her I had more important things to do than just wait around for her to get in touch with me. In the past two years, I have had several major surgeries including brain surgery and I still have doctor's appointments all the time, plus I am trying to live a semi normal life in constant pain. So I asked for a refund, which Shasta promised me. Well, suddenly she changed her tune. Since they couldn't convince me to pay them up front and could see I wouldn't budge, she sent me copies of two services that they apparently did at the old house, even though on a previous conversation she told me they had been done at my new house and she would give me a credit towards future services at the old house and re-instate my service. She outright lied to me. So they start off being nice to you, trying to reel you back in and when you don't play by their rules they quickly change their tune. This company is all about fleecing you of your money and don't give a crap about you as a customer and certainly not as a human being. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU THE CUSTOMER. I was going to send an email to the CEO John Cowles, but all his info is hidden.
