If you're tired of all the fluff and lack of heart at other martial arts schools in the area, then " just directa your feetza" to the Shao Long Academy. Be respectful; Shifu Lefler can spin kick your head sideways before you can quote your favorite Van Damme film. Seriously though, you will learn the finest traditional Chinese martial arts techniques combined with contemporary conditioning drills to strengthen your mind and body while you become the ultimate Gongfu warrior. My daughter has been attending this academy for several months and there has been a marked improvement in her self-esteem, confidence, and general fitness. The fortitude required to teach others is a skill not many possess, and the progress I've seen in Shifu Lefler's students is a reflection of his devotion to his craft. For Shifu Lefler, this isn't just a hobby - it's a way of life.

It was a long-shot but we figured why not try something different for her. The instructor/owner, Itzak, is super nice and kept his students engaged, disciplined but still having fun. The practices are traditional and it's not hard for my child to follow. The pricing is fair and still within our budget. Along with virtual lessons, he actually has a Tai Chi app as well and I actually feel a little sore after trying it. Great options during this hard year especially. The studio is really clean and organized. The owner follows the guidelines for Covid-precautions and safety measures so peace of mind is there. The mats don't smell which is what I usually always smell when I go into other studios/gyms. That's a plus for me. The location was not hard to find, convenient and I didn't have any issues with parking. Only con is that I like to go eat the seafood place next door.

Mr. Abdo, the studio's instructor, teaches both private and group kung-fu and Tai Chi classes throughout the week. Tai Chi is taught on Monday evenings and kung-fu classes are Monday through Thursday in the evenings and Saturday mornings. The studio provides instruction for both kids and adults. Kung-fu is a great workout (both mentally and physically) and the group classes are a lot of fun! Mr. Abdo varies the workout in every class, keeping the class fun and challenging, and we frequently work with kicking and punching pads, kettle bells, medicine balls, and other props. As you progress in the class you learn more strikes (punches and kicks), animal techniques, combinations, etc. Mr. Adbo is a great instructor and does a great job explaining and demonstrating new techniques. The other students I've met during class have all been great to work with and have been very supportive and helpful. One of the best aspects of Shaolin Arts is the community of great people who study here. I recently completed my first rank review and earned my yellow sash! I hope to continue learning kung-fu for many years to come and I've been really happy with the progress I've made so far. Kung-fu is a great martial art and I'm very happy I took the opportunity to try it. If you're looking for a new studio or want to try something different, come by Shaolin Arts and give kung-fu a try. You're going to love it!

Going to start soon and seem to be very nice and wish to continue exercising in something I enjoy.read more

When we first signed him up I didn't know what to expect other than him learning to disarm a group of bad guys with a popscicle stick. His Kung Fu would be strong. So here's what I've learned so far: 1.) It's not Kung-Fu. It's Karate. Don't ask me what kind as I'm not in to the lifestyle enough to know the difference. He wears a karategi, bows on demand, and is learning some pretty cool moves that, while they aren't up to Karate Kid standards, are impressive. Especially for being a little guy. 2.) This place demands respect. The kids ask permission to enter the mat, leave the mat, and are expected to give their instructors all of the respect they deserve. It also carries in to their personal lives as they can earn ribbons for their belts based on good grades, respect for parents, etc. The munchkins take this serious and i have seen them remove ribbons as well. Participant trophies do not apply. 3.) They truly care about your kids. I was impressed that all of the staff and instructors quickly learn names and treat the kids like real people. It's good to see the littles treated with the same respect they are expected to give. 4.) Date nights. These are pretty cool. For an extremely small price (I think $15) you can drop the kids off one Friday night per month for a few hours and go on a date. It's cheap, you can trust them, and you don't have a neighbor kid rummaging through your bedroom while you're gone. I really have nothing to compare this place to. I like them for the reasons above and a bunch of others not really worth typing about. They are making a difference for my little one and I like the confidence and agility his is gaining through their program. We're still working on the popscicle stick trick.

There really isn't another one of it's kind in Utah. It is obvious from the moment you walk into the place that the kids are taught this art well. Black belts look like what black belts should. This definitely isn't a McDojo! The kids are expected to show respect to instructors, parents, and each other. This shows through and through in the way they are instructed to address each other. And despite this strict regimen it is obvious that the love and care for the kids themselves is of the utmost importance. They have a lot of safety equipment and kids are not allowed to perform various skills without the safety equipment on or around them. They also have adult classes. I haven't watched many of those but if they are at all indicative of what I have seen with the kids classes, they are sure to be run very well. Oh, one more thing, they must know what they are doing because they have dozens of world champion martial arts instructors and students there. Hard to become a world champion without at least some success at your craft.

Monk Wise will charge you maintenance fees on top of your tuition. If you cancel your membership, you still have to pay two months' worth of tuition (supposedly this has been changed to 30 days, but in all our negotiations to end our contract, we never once saw a new contract or signed it, even when we were still regularly attending the school). You're charged to advance, you're charged to participate in extra activities, you're charged to put your account on hold . . . you're even charged to attend a potluck. Monk Wise works off the idea that you pay a fee and then attend as many classes as you want. But if you have a schedule that makes it hard to come in often, or, say, children, this model is not ideal. We paid extra to receive private lessons, only to never receive private lessons or a contract for the adjusted payment. But, of course, we got $118 taken out of our account regularly, every *two weeks*. Attempts to discuss payments with the owner were either met with very salesman-like runarounds or complete silence. (We were even charged for two weeks' of lessons when the studio was closed for Christmas break, which is illegal. Like I said, you will be nickeled and dimed to the point of insanity.) If you're interested in martial arts, there are much better places to enroll. Learn from my mistakes and go somewhere else. *Their website says they have no contracts. This is a lie.

Thanks to our family member, I did some research and found that Acupuncture would help improve a lot of things and it can help with body functionality. Walking improved, hands are working before OT started, and life went back to almost 90% normal again! If you are seeking help and don't see any improvements based on your physician's recommendation, do some research on your condition with Acupuncture treatment and then, go visit and chat with Tye. He's knowledgeable and efficient. He has a strong understanding that is beyond what you get from the average acupuncturist. For those looking for a quick fix- this is probably not for you. Accupuncture takes time and repeated visits to work effectively. That said, accupuncture and Chinese medicine can treat and cure certain things that even allopathic medicine can not.
