First time visit after hearing the praises of Lanhydrock from my daughter for about 10 years…read more AND....not at all disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, which took us about 2 hours. After this, we enjoyed the gardens upper/lower. Well laid out. The car park is approx 15-20 minute walk, mostly downhill, which means you've got an uphill struggle to get back. There is a "mini" taxi type service costing £1 per head each way, (well worth it), to the House. Car park charge to non-members is £3.00 all day, which is pretty good. The house is in good repair, and the history is very well recorded. Beware the Cafe.......as with most NT establishments it is franchised, extortionate and not good value for money....especially for eating and drinking in a shed...!! That aside, you will have a lovely day...

Pirate paint ball is a good place to spend a day out with friends. They have two arenas, the woods…read moreand the field and you can do paintballing in one of these places. I have only been to the woods but it was great fun. The group is split in two and the two teams play against each other for about 6 games. I have really enjoyed paintballing here, and have come back several times. The instructors are very helpful and are very careful about health and safety. I has it's own car park and they supply all of the clothing for paintballing.

Theres a game where there is a flag in the centre in the field and in the object is to capture the flag and take it to the oppositions base but my friend didnt quite get the idea and ran the flag allway back to our base screaming and celebrating doh!. The second time i went i got stitched up by my friends who half of them did not turn up and the guys at Pirate really helped me out and didnt charge me the full cancelation for which i was really grateful. fantastic place

This is my all-time favourite National Trust garden! It is located on the banks of the River Fal…read moreand numerous paths meander throughout the steep garden. In Spring there is a riot of colour from the daffodils, camellias, primroses, bluebells and cherry blossom. A bit later come the foxgloves and later still the changing colours of autumn - but there is a 'wildness' about it all, with wild flowers mingling with the cultivated, making the garden an absolute delight at any time of year. And, always, there is the sound of bird song and the distant clanking of the King Harry Ferry, which crosses the Fal from Feock to Philleigh. Of course, a visit to the garden is never complete without a visit to the superb tea room, shop and gallery. The garden is open throughout the year, although not every day in winter - so best to check the website before you visit. The house is privately owned and not open to the public but, if time allows, it is possible to walk through the parkland of Trelissick Estate, which again stretches right down to the shores of the River Fal. There is ample space for parking but, if you prefer, in summer, plan to arrive and depart by ferry via Falmouth, St Mawes or Truro.

Luckily, many were labelled as my botanical knowledge is not great. Despite the poor weather, it was a really relaxing experience meandering through the tranquil gardens. There are fantastic views across to Falmouth and the sea. The restaurant is nice, although a bit pricey (the money does contribute towards the upkeep of the National Trust properties though). There is also a shop which sells the usual National Trust goodies, some local produce, and plants that were seen in the gardens. Well worth a visit.

They have some lovely indoor and outdoor play areas for kids including my kids favourite the ball pool. There is also a nice cafe, lots of room for having picnics in nice weather, and the kids get the chance to feel ponies, goats, sheep, rabbits and lots of other animals! There's loads of nice walks including woodland ones and basically just a whole lot of fun to be had! A great day out :)

A true Gem of a place. My family come here a lot. My sister also got married at Carbis Bay and then afterwards came here for some amazing wedding shots. Here is more info about it - Godrevy is at the far north-eastern end of three miles of golden sand stretching from Hayle. Owned by the National Trust, it takes the brunt of the Atlantic swell and is one of the more exposed beaches of the North coast. From buckets and spades on sunny summer days to classic rugged Cornish splendour on a stormy winter's day, Godrevy offers the ultimate outdoor experience. The sandy beach at Godrevy is connected to Gwithian beach at lower tides to create an impressive stretch of sand. Remember to check the time of high water. as hundreds of metres of sand all but disappear at high tide so don't get caught out. The beach terminates with a low rocky headland and the famous Godrevy lighthouse (of Virginia Woolfe's To The Lighthouse fame) on an island just off the coast. Godrevy Cafe, hidden amongst the dunes, provides drinks and snacks.. Given the right conditions the waves can be epic - long walling lefts and rights. It is also capable of holding a fair sized swell, up 8ft. However this doesn't mean you'll have an easy paddle out! The break is at it's best on a low tide where it can produce a fast hollow wave. It does work through the tide but becomes increasingly slopey and bouncy.

If you have a National Trust card, you can continue up to the top car park (and out of season there are no restrictions). And if you're on foot, it's on the coastal path. When the tide's out, you can walk along the beach from Hayle or Gwithian Towans. Gwithian Sands is a fantastic beach, popular with surfers. Walk towards the lighthouse. There are various ways up from the beach to the top of the cliffs and you get fantastic views from up there. Look across the bay to St Ives, which always seems bathed in sunlight and across to Godrevy Lighthouse, which inspired Virginia Woolf to write 'To the Lighthouse' on her holidays in St Ives. It can be very windy up there, being so exposed, so take a windbreaker or coat, depending on the weather. If you're lucky, you may spot a seal in the waves.

At night the bowling alley turns into a nightclub theme, with neon signs at the end of the alleys. I am not overly keen on this, I prefer a typical bowling alley. There is a small selection of games machines although there are only a few. There also snooker/pool tables next to the bar which serves reasonably priced drinks. They also do children's parties which includes a meal and bowling. The food isn't bad but it's nothing special.

Hmm, could do better would be the main thing I'd have to say about Truro Bowl. The 'restaurant' is the main thing they could improve, this is low quality pub style food at its worst. They should have a good refurbishment and up the quality of the place if they want to attract good customers, the actual bowling is OK but they could offer more things to do as there are only a few machines and games.

There are various paths to follow and all quite pretty. There is a section for young children to play. There are some falls and ponds. Some trees are so tall you can't imagine how old they must be. The paths can lead you past an amphitheater built by hand and end up at the beach where you find some picnic tables and a small takeaway cafe with ice cream and drinks. At the entrance where you leave afterwards is a cafe with various things and a gift shop. There is also an area to buy plants. It's a pleasant place to spend a few hours. Dogs are allowed as well. The paths have some steps or hills but manageable. We all enjoyed it.

You have all the plants there you can see in private gardens or just at the side of the street when driving through Cornwall: masses of giant rhubarb, hydrangeas, rhododendron in a small valley. Maybe it's necessary to take a guided tour. The garden is small, walking through it, down and up again, it takes you not more than an hour without any hurry. You have a little artificial fish pond, a pond with a rhubarb in it with a tacky white bridge. Well there are maybe two or three nice viewpoints, but that's not enough. The toilets were very clean, that I can praise ;-). It's definitely too high priced for what you get, 3£ would be enough.

Fantastic place to take the kids on a day out…read more Lots of animals for them to look at and pet, Mini tractors to ride on, Adventure playgrounds outside, Farm animals & bottle feeding, lakes and woods, a milking parlour where they can watch the milking process, but the main attraction for my kids has always been their indoor play area The Bull Pen. With ball pools, slides, demon drop soft play area plus a good cafe it makes a great day out for our family. You can relax with a cuppa knowing that they are safely playing. Basically a fun day out no matter what the weather, if its raining when you get there you can do the Bull Pen til it stops if its ot raining its a great place to walk around in the sun and all kids love petting the animals :) x

There are displays of old tractors, a nice farmland walk-although its quite steep when returning! Endless amounts of kids playground facilities. There is a huge indoor bull pen which is jam packed with soft play equipment. The best thing about this is that the adults can acommpany the children around the soft play and slides. The food prices are reasonable as is the admission fee for the park itself. Ample car parking and a nice selection of goods in the giftshop-which is reasonably priced too. A really good day out for everyone
