I repeatedly attempted to communicate concerns that I felt warranted further inquiry, yet I left the process feeling unheard and dismissed. In my opinion, the investigation lacked balance and failed to fully consider important information and the child's perspective. I also experienced the process as financially burdensome without seeing what I believed to be meaningful advocacy or protection for my child's best interests. A guardian ad litem holds significant influence in custody and family court matters, and families rely on that role to remain objective, thorough, child-focused, and accountable. In my experience, I did not feel those standards were met in my case.
