I believed my concerns regarding my child's emotional wellbeing, safety, and living environment were not adequately investigated or taken seriously. I repeatedly attempted to communicate concerns that I felt warranted further inquiry, yet I left the process feeling unheard and dismissed. In my opinion, the investigation lacked balance and failed to fully consider important information and the child's perspective. I also experienced the process as financially burdensome without seeing what I believed to be meaningful advocacy or protection for my child's best interests. A guardian ad litem holds significant influence in custody and family court matters, and families rely on that role to remain objective, thorough, child-focused, and accountable. In my experience, I did not feel those standards were met in my case. I encourage parents involved in GAL proceedings to carefully document all communications, maintain detailed records, and seek independent legal guidance when concerns arise regarding representation of a child's interests.

GAL for a child with special needs. She did not retrieve medical records to confirm diagnoses as…read moreshe said she would. Instead got in court and self-diagnosed him herself & a Lic. Counselor. She was given those records twice during our intakes. 2nd intake provided the proof she did not look at the folder that was left in 1st intake. She confirmed in court she did not even bother with them by her words. She allowed a child to suffer and regress while in the care of a stepmother and father. To be tested for Autism for the 3rd time. Had she sought those medical records she would have known that had already been done twice. She told us she would have him tested for what he asked for and that test was not the test we asked for. So, she doesn't listen or even understand medical diagnoses. On an intake call with the oldest child she asked him if he would like to see his grandparents that summer? Which he said, "YES! But, wait I can't." She asked why he said that. His reply... "It's a secret." Then asked if he was going to see his mother?" "His reply, "That's top secret." Leading him & us to believe that she would do the right thing. Our attorney found out Ms. Chesley knew that they were brain washing this child to believe such lies, because the little brother confirmed what the stepmother was saying. Yet, she didn't care. She gaslit us and our grandson! She made promises in court and refused us those promises and lied in court and to us over and over. Every bad thing we read about her, she did to us. EVERY SINGLE ONE!!! She is not in it to mend families, she is not in it to mend children's broken hearts, she is not in it to research or do her due diligence. She was extremely late to appt's, doesn't dress professional, she is hateful, she will charge for work she hasn't done, she is not truthful under the court of law, she has horrible dysfunctional work ethics. Our own attorney said, " He was losing sleep over her industriousnes. " Not just in our case but other case 's he had with her. Speaking of that. We were told we couldn't use the Attorney Office where she worked due to conflict of interest in a different case. But yet our attorney recommends her saying, " He mentored her and she will do the case right." Even though we have already been told we could not use this office in the case. Total Conflict of Interest! Another attorney in court said, "She doesn't get back to him." And not just in our case in other cases he had with her. In court she said, " She had a professional look over the test results and "THEY" said this child did not have this medical diagnosis. Confirming she did not see or use the test results that we gave to her in our intakes or did she seek his medical records or spoke to his LIFETIME Pediatrician! The professional she was speaking of was a Lic. Counselor!!! The ONLY person who should have been giving her any information regarding this child's medical diagnosis should have been his own PEDIATRICIAN!!! NOT A LICENSE COUNSELOR! ALL I CAN SAY IS..... RUN!!!!! She will not do her job; she will pick sides; she will destroy a positive outcome to protect the family unit. She will gaslight children, grandparents and parents leading them to believe she is on your side and then get in court and lie to protect those she has sided with. It took me years to write this because I hoped she would have had remorse. I hoped for a call to right her wrongs. But she did not. There was and is no remorse from Ms. Chesley.
