We were slated to have a meeting and when I found it was to be at El Pueblo, I was like, "What the hell is in El Pueblo?"
Sure, there's a decent Mcdonald's there, and the upscale Cafe 1771, plus the newer restaurants in the area, but when I was looking for Tubbsy's I wasn't very excited about going through the old El Pueblo structure to get to the somewhat rough-hewn establishment within.
I admit I was wrong about it going in though, as inside it was a little more made up than it looked from the outside. The wall color, fixtures, and shelved knick-knacks were wonderfully flamboyant and kitschy, and set the tone for the night ahead.
We had our meeting over dinner, which was fairly cheap and okay taste-wise. The beer we were having was decently priced as well, but when we ended our discussion, that's when the best surprise came on: free videoke!
I realize that free videoke isn't fun for everyone, especially when everyone else in the restaurant is your audience, but if you're a shameless diva and mic-hog, Tubbsy's could be good for you. read more
