I love Tucanos. It's a bit pricey, and sometimes the meat I like best doesn't come around enough, but it's so good!!

not going to lie, dakota was the man tonight, had to name drop that guy because i came to dinner late and everyone was done eating but he kept bringing around all the food for me even though i was like the one person that needed it... literally. haha but besides that though, i really do LOVE LOVE LOVE TUCANOS! birthdays here are the best traditions! the only problem i had was that i'm a very picky meat eater and prefer my meats basically burnt but they always find a way to treat my pickiness lol. tucanos, the meat that melts in your mouth and the desserts that put you in a food coma. consider me FULL. I don't typically write reviews however, I went out to celebrate my anniversary tonight, and it was not an enjoyable time. Although the server had checked in, it was a quick one question or while he was helping another table, he would turn around and give us a thumbs up to ask if we're OK and then while we were sitting there The duration of our stay was 40 minutes and in that time I had asked for the same item about four or five times it never came and we had three or four different managers come up to us constantly asking how we were doing back to back because they were trying to seat a big party and they needed our table that was directly in the middle. The whole experience wasn't a good time. The food wasn't that great. Most of the meats that came out didn't have flavor and if we're paying at least $100 for a meal I would like to at least sit and enjoy my meal not constantly feel rushed. read more

We probably received meat 6 times in over an hour, we had to find our waiter to eventually have lemonades refilled, many things in the salad bar ran out and weren't refilled while we were there and all of this was on a Tuesday at 5 pm. It wasn't even busy! The food and service used to be amazing and now, I honestly don't think we will come back. The mango cod was 95% bread and 5% cod. So much of the meat was cold when given to us. We used to come at least once a month. To top off the evening, the waiter asked us to "tip a percentage" and write it on the receipt before he even ran our card and stood over us and hovered while we did so. It's as if he knew how horrible his service was. Sorry Tucano's, you are no longer our favorite restaurant. read more

After trying every Brazilian churrascaria in Utah that I am aware of I can tell you Tucano's is the best. From menu to food quality to service it takes the top spot. If you're debating and think you'll have a similar experience elsewhere, you won't. You just need Tucanos. Go light on the grilled pineapple so I can have more (and to preserve your tongue) and try anything wrapped in bacon because you can't go wrong unless you're allergic to bacon then you're already wrong. read more

We have always loved going to Tucanos as most of our family is Brazilian. We decided to have our big Family Christmas dinner there and we understand that it's a busy time of the year but we made our reservation months ahead and hoped that they would be prepared. I understand people have bad days but our waiter looked like he was annoyed just to have to serve on us and was rude from the beginning. From the amount of money they made out of our party and we all still tipped good despite the service. Plus they seemed to be out of a lot things on the menu. Food is delicious and the servers, both meat servers and drink servers are polite and knowledgeable. The only thing that I don't like is their new location seems a little more crowded than their old. I'm almost always impressed with their food and enjoy their drinks. Their meats are all gluten free except the Teriyaki and the cod. They label all of their sides with Gf in the salad festival, to aid gluten free consumers. Waiters come to your table with different styles of cooked meats plus all you can drink lemonade in flavors too (papaya, strawberry) just to name a few. Also, yes there's MORE a salad bar with pastas and sauces, fruits and make your own salad creations with an assortment of Brazilian and American items. I don't think I've ever updated a review from a 1-star rating to a 5-star rating and definitely not in the space of a week. I was able to speak with the manager about my experience the past few times I had visited Tucanos. She invited my wife and me back to see the improvements that had been made--on the house. I don't know if it's because it was Father's Day, because it was busy, or because permanent changes have been made, but this was by far my best experience at Tucanos so far. We asked our servers for medium doneness on our meat, and the servers remembered it. They asked several times throughout our meal if we were happy with how the meat was cooked. Also, the shrimp skewers were two thumbs up. The service my wife and I received is on par with some of the best I've ever received. We had three servers that were continually checking with us. We had a server named Thomas that made sure we remembered his name and that we knew we could ask him for anything we needed. Sometimes with servers, I feel that there is a fine line between being helpful and attentive and being a hoverer. Thomas seemed to know that line perfectly. I felt very at ease with him and appreciative for his service. As a bonus, he was funny and concerned with our personal experience. In general, I wasn't sure that any follow-up by Tucanos could convince me recommend it to anyone again. I was wrong. I will gladly visit again. Considering the price and quality of the food and service I received, Tucanos has once again, in my books, placed itself in the top rankings of restaurants in Utah Valley. read more

Show up early afternoon and hunker down for the long haul Your waitress will sit you down and try to get you to buy some expensive drinks. Whatever. I'm not your mom spend your money how you want. So the wife and I went here for our anniversary, didn't know they took reservations so we had a bit of a wait. Not a problem. We were about to be seated when I saw a mouse peek out of a grease trap in front of the buffet area, I got up just as we were told our table was ready. Love this place!!! The selection of meats is my favorite!!! There is a Teriyaki Beef and there is a Parmesan Garlic Beef that are to die for!!! Also, Mango Cod and Parmesan Vegetables are another one you can't go without!!! There is also the Brazilian Lemonades that you can't miss!!! I used to HATE Tucanos. I have been multiple times for whatever reason and always left very unhappy. Always overcooked meat, lackluster saladbars, horrible service. An awful establishment. But i went here and I was changed. The meat was cooked correctly and the waiter was trained. They have upped their salad bar game too. The meat was coming out at a good pace. Tonight everything was working how it should. 1 in a million. You see... Tucanos suffers from the idea that should cook their meat medium. No. Keep it rare to medium rare and if one or two idiots want it cooked longer let them. But you cant uncook a piece of meat. They suffer from catering to how the minority thinks. "The meat was coming to fast" "You need more non-beef options" "It's too bloody" The list of asinine comments can go for days and unfortunately Tucanos has always catered to these few, thinking it represented the majority. Nope. So if they can keep what they did tonight, they will succeed and not have to close any more stores. I remember they tried competing in my hometown of SugarLand. Went out of business SO fast. Why? Cause in Houston, Texas you can't suck or you will DIE. And they died. If they would've been operating at the level they did tonight every night, you'd be seeing Tucanos everywhere. I really enjoyed my visit tonight. The service is top notch, very professional, fast and friendly. Both of my servers took great care of me. The first thing you have to keep in mind while dining at Tucanos is this is not Fogo de Chao. If you've ever been to a Fogo de Chao, you'll understand what I mean. But, Fogo is more than twice the money, so it is with that in mind, that I make my review. We went to the new location of Tucanos. The restaurant is a nice, casual atmosphere. Our lead server turned over our green/red thing right away. A little too soon since we hadn't even had a chance to go to the salad bar. I'll start with the salad bar. The salad selections were okay. Nothing spectacular, but again, the price was only $24, so I wasn't expecting anything super fancy. After the salad, we turned over our green thing and went to get some sides. The cheese rolls were good. The mashed potatoes were not. They were like glue. The fried bananas were good. I haven't been to a Brazilian steakhouse where they breaded the fried bananas so that caught me off guard. But, they were pretty good. I didn't bother with any of the pasta because, why? I brought back a salad bar plate because the plates they give you for the meat were tiny. I didn't understand that at first. After sitting for a little bit, I started to understand why they gave small plates. The Gauchos don't come around very often, so you have plenty of time to eat what the previous Gaucho brought you. I learned from that pretty quickly and started asking for more when they were at the table. The meat was pretty decent for a $24 meal. Again, it wasn't Fogo de Chao, but I couldn't expect that. The Picanha was good. I asked for medium rare, but never got anything under medium. Most of the meats that came through were medium to medium well. Seems like they didn't really offer medium rare. The other meats we tried were all about the same way. They were all good, but not spectacular. When we finished, they brought the desert tray. My kids got the brownie smith ice cream. None of the deserts looked very good to me so I passed. I didn't see a Papaya Cream so I'm not sure if they offer it. To me, the Papaya Cream should be a standard offering at a Brazilian Churrascaria. Overall, Tucanos was a decent place to eat. If you've been to a high end Churrascaria, don't go with those expectations. But if you go with the idea that it's less than half the price, you'll have a decent meal and come out full. read more

There's this major hype about going to Tucanos in the valley, but I was underwhelmed. The food is nowhere near authentic, the salad bar was Americanized like crazy, and rotation of meats was too fast. While the waiters were friendly, they moved randomly around tables (even skipping ours a couple times when our sign said not to). The meats were good as far as flavors go, but I don't plan on ever going back. Some of it was a little dry and I don't think all of their servers know the difference in meat rarity. Service was fantastic! Wedding Dinner!! Shout out to the staff at Tucanos for making our Wedding Dinner a perfect event. Groom wanted a great restaurant for the wedding dinner. The staff was exceptional. They did everything they could to make the event as flawless as possible. Planned on seating 60 and instead had 75 come. Staff brought in tables and chairs so that all guests were seated. Dinner service was quick paced for our large gathering. Everyone ate well. We were able to take dessert to go as individual desserts would have taken too long. A lot of people talk about how this place is too expensive,but it's really not too terrible of a price when it comes to a good buffet. You have a ton of buffet options and the meat is quality meat. It's awesome for groups because there's always a variety of options to satisfy everyone. I normally stay away from most of the other foods here because I love eating a ton of meat. I will always recommend their Brazilian Limemades. They're so much better than lemonade and they're refillable ;) read more
