We went here for our date night and it was sure expensive but we got a lot of food for our money. Just to be clear, this is not authentic Brazilian food in the least bit and it's Americanized almost 100 percent, but it is worth a fancy night out. I would consider them. Their meat is cooked deliciously. I enjoyed everything except for the sweet and sour chicken which was not cooked very well and didn't taste very good. I lived in southern Brazil for a year and a half and every time I go to Tucanos it takes me back. I always do the all-you-can-eat buffet and used to eat until I was sick, but now I know which meats I absolutely love and only eat those. I thought it might be her just being nice to us as part of her job but she was extremely kind, hospitable, friendly, concerned and attentive to everyone. I typically eat at Rodizio BUT after meeting Kelly and having such an awesome experience, I'm coming back to Tucanos. They clean up quickly, the meat rotates, the chicken hearts were cooked well and the table service was wonderful. I have been here several times and I've never been disappointed. Oh boy! This place is amazing! I was so worried they wouldn't have anything for me to eat (I'm not a big meat eater) so when my husband said he wanted to go there for his birthday I was skeptical. Tucanos is pretty good. In general the food is quite tasty, but I have some complaints. They don't bring around nearly as much meat as they should given that they're a churrascaria. A place like Rodizio does a far better job of bringing a good ratio of actually beef to other options like fish or chicken. Here at Tucanos I have to beg and plead for them to bring around actual beef, which is disappointing because that's what I'm here for. Their salad bar is huge which is smart because people tend to fill up on that on not feel disappointed in the relative lack of beef. Anyway for your average individual you'll probably enjoy Tucanos a lot. People who lived in or visited Brazil like myself would be disappointed that they skimp on the whole purpose of a churrascaria, the spit roasted beef. read more

We visit Tucanos often because of the amazing food and even better service. So I took my wife to an early dinner there on Valentine's Day. We arrived for our reservations about 5 mins early. They promptly sat us and our hostess came and greeted us. We hadn't been sitting there longer then 10 mins when they brought us the desert tray. I figured they were just passing by so they asked us. As a meat lover this place is one of my favorites. Round after round they bring delicious pieces of meat. Waiters are always friendly and chatty. The salad bar is a great addition. This place is sex in meat form. If you've never been to a Brazilian steak house, it is something else. You begin at their large salad bar which is filled with much more than just salad; you can graze to your heart's (and stomach's) content on sliced meats and cheeses, pasta and potato salads, and lots of other little treasures. But don't overdo it, because the headline attraction is the meat. There are 15 or 16 different items which are constantly being grilled on skewers; servers then bring them one by one to your table and slice off pieces for you to put on your plate and enjoy. There is a great variety of tastes here, and everything is cooked to perfection... and if you have a special desire (such as extra grilling time for a certain item), they'll accommodate you. I hope you were hungry, because the meats keep on coming for as long as you like. My particular favorite is the garlic sirloin, though there are many other tasty choices as well. One of the grilled items they bring you is glazed pineapple. This stuff is so delectable it feels downright sinful and it might be illegal. My wife and I always save it for last; we treat it as our dessert because the sweetness is a perfect end to all the protein. They do have actual desserts you can order at the conclusion of your meal, but we never bother because the pineapple is _that_ good. Reservations are strongly advised here. The turnover rate is somewhat slow, so you are almost guaranteed to have a lengthy wait time for dinner if you didn't call ahead. It is well worth the wait, though. There is a similar restaurant called Rodizios, though it pales in comparison to Tucanos and it also costs more! Come here instead and you'll have a better experience. Be advised: you are gonna be *stuffed* when you leave this place. If you can physically walk back to your car, you've done it wrong. So chow down and enjoy! read more

Let's get real here: there are very few Brazilian BBQ places that are actually pretty great. So here we go with one that actually checks out clean. A little about me because this is important to the review (everyone is biased through their background, right?): I'm a southern Californian who is a self-proclaimed foodie. I refuse to eat bad food. I'd rather starve. The great thing about this place: 1. Wow, can we say posh? This is in a very nice area with great shops around. Great if you have to wait a long time to get into this place, or you want to walk off the 10 lbs you just gained eating copious quantity of meat. 2. THAT SALAD BAR. Wow. Just wow. And I don't necessarily LOVE salad. From the Brazilian cheese bread to the marinated cucumber slices, I thought, this is a BOMB salad bar. Heck, I'd pay $15 a person just to all you can eat THIS. 3. Cute waiters. Not going to lie, there were some good eye candy here on the night we were here. Yes, my husband was with me. Cute, young boys who were polite and light on their feet, clean cut and used proper grammar. I found that delightful. My recommendations: A. Call for a reservation if you can. We came on a Monday evening at 5 PM and was SHOCKED when they asked us if we had a reservation. We asked, SHOULD WE HAVE ONE? and the young lady at the desk - not even joking - looked at us seriously and politely said, "It is HIGHLY recommended." HELLO. B. Know how this works before you get there. There are a lot of meat coming your way. It's really ok to say no if you don't feel up to it. For example, I didn't eat anything fowl meat. If it's chicken or turkey, I wasn't eating it because I was there for the BEEF. I didn't want to stuff myself on meats I can literally eat in my own home (sorry, but I'm a relatively good cook, so I"m a bit picky). It's REALLY ok to not have something you're not up for, OR to ask for three pieces of something you really want! C. If you like beef: I highly recommend getting as many as possible (without looking like a greedy jerk) as much as possible the garlic beef (I'm sure there's a fancier name for it that escapes me at this moment) and the teriyaki beef. I don't even LIKE teriyaki sauce and this was DELICIOUS. D. When they ask you, ask for your meat RARE even if you like it medium. If I can complain about this place, it would be about how well done the meats were. I asked for "rare as possible" and most of the meat offered to us were at LEAST medium or medium-well done. I was really disappointed. I honestly think I could give this place a 5 star recommendation had it not been for this particular disappointment. The establishment is clean, and the clientele is what you'd expect of it: lots of family celebrations, you've got your college students going on fancy dates, and couples who have money and no children. ;) read more

Every time I come, I still can't believe Toucanos can serve such quality food at such a high volume. From the ice cold peel and eat shrimp cocktail which is cooked to an opaque perfection to the flame kissed skewered steak and pineapple, it just couldn't be better. If I could change anything it would be this, the restaurant is louder than a zoo at feeding time. But that's the mere excitement of us carnivorous loving humans resorting to our Primal instincts and not the fault of the owners are staff. Keep it up guys! read more
