A wonderfully whimsical old school tuck shop with a new school twist! I was a big fan of the burgers, but they also have a delightful selection of baked goods (helloooo dougnuts and freakin' redskin chocolate brownies!). They also do milkshakes that come in an amazeballs range of flavours including NUTELLA and SALTED CARAMEL (allcaps added for excitement)!! The team behind Tuck Shop have some serious fine food chops that include The Fat Duck and Attica, so you know you are in for a treat. If you were born in the late 70s or 80s then this is the place to trigger your school memories. The tiny (and it is TINY) space has been so well put together with lots of interesting bits and pieces to look at. Love it. First things first - the burger. One meat and one veggie option, so keeping it simple, which I love. The meat option is excellent and great value at $10 (extra $2 for bacon which is a bit steep for one tiny bit of bacon, but it's with including). Burgers are cooked so they are pink in the middle and it's an excellent, tasty burger. Chips are ok, a bit greasy and drowning in oil, but tasty. Drinks are overpriced... But also excellent. We had the mintie milkshake and wow it was good. Not cheap at $7 a pop. But good enough that we would try another flavour next time. Fantale perhaps?! I had a raspberry soda and while it was super delicious it was quite small and $4.50 was pretty steep. We will be back again, but a lost star for the price of drinks. The jaffels looked amazing so the cost won't keep me away though! Well worth a visit if you're local. read more

Heard some good reports about this place and wanted to check it out for a while. We intended on sitting in but it's tiny, so we actually went for takeaway. The burgers were pretty good, although honestly nothing special here. Same goes for the fries. What they won on was the desserts - chocolate CHIP cookies (with actual potato chips) and redskin brownies - both tasted even better than they sound. We also tried the soda they make their but honestly it was overpriced and tasted kind of flat. Worth going for the novelty, loved the decor, and will definitely be back for dessert, the food itself though was fairly standard. read more

Having been recommended this local burger joint by an old colleague, I went in cautiously optimistic. Everyone has a different view of what makes the best burger so you learn to take recommendations with a grain of salt. However, I was not steered wrong. This place. Officially. My favourite burger in Melbourne!! It is a tiny little shop located at the end of a suburban strip of shops in Caulfield. Seating room is extremely minimal - a large communal table, plus two tiny window bench seats and a row of seats along the "bar". Thankfully, they do take away so don't be alarmed if there's no seating left. But to the star attraction. The burger. Ridiculously tasty homemade patty, juicy, cooked to perfection on a delicious bun with tasty sauce, cheese and lettuce. You immediately know why these guys sell out on a daily basis. Despite being (understandably) so popular, the staff were great. None of this too cool for school rubbish, they were totally welcoming and happy to take the time to explain the menu, including a run down of their fabulous home made soda flavours. I have nothing but praise for Tuckshop. All I ask is that you don't make them sell out minutes before my next visit! read more

Hands down the best burger I have had in 2.5 years living in Melbourne. The patty was cooked perfectly, still pink in the middle and the housemade burger sauce was delish! Got the side of chips, not bad but not the greatest (4 stars instead of 5) but the housemade tomato sauce was another win. They also do housemade sodas, i went the passiona and it was pretty tasty. The place is very small, if you're planning to eat in there are seats for about 8-9 people total so be prepared to get to know your fellow burger lovers. Would definitely go back! read more

Just tonight I ordered a Minor with a side of cuts for dinner. About ten minutes ago I got a message from Clinton from Tuck Shop telling me I'd left my wallet behind this evening! So not only do they do good burgers, but the guys and girls working there are ace. Customer for life right here. Best part? I didn't have any identifying information in my wallet... So he FB searched my name and messaged me through there! There I was thinking that going on a week day would make it easier to get a seat, how wrong I was! OK the place is tiny but this has to be the best thing, when a place is busy 24/7! People millng around outside waiting for their orders. Great check in, warm and attentive even if busy. Lovely decor inside; I love the space of the bench and cooking area. Ordered a redskin milkshake, weird but wonderful as I am old enough to have ordered redskin lollies when it was pc to say redskin and that they cost less than 1c. I got the Veggie Wedgie burger which was a little soggy but tasted great. To be expected when you're making a patty from beetroot and other vegies. Chips were the thrice fried but as they weren't their usual splendicious, got them for free (nice touch). Glad they were as they weren't as good as usual. Next time will savour their desserts. Minor burger was really good, I rate it 9.5/10. I added bacon and left off the pickles and onion. Milkshakes presented in cute old milk bottles, but far too rich. I had the Salted Fantale which was far too sweet and sickly but with a bit of extra ice cream or milk it would have been spot on. Customers and vibe tense. Full of wannabes that will never be, in leather jackets and no smiles. I would maybe go back for a takeaway burger but I wouldn't rush back. One staff member was nice, but otherwise a tense vibe and no smiling. It felt like I should be thanking them for choosing their establishment when I should be thanked for eating there.
