When I think of BBQ, I think of brisket. But, technically BBQ is any meat that is barbecued. I have been to Tuckers twice (sometimes places have bad days) and twice my meat tasted like the saltiest beef roast I have ever tasted. The second time I took my husband, he was not impressed, nor was I. Some restaurants replace beef roast with brisket because it's a much cheaper cut, seems like this maybe the case. The atmosphere is excellent and the customer service is decent. However the food was not that great. The moist brisket was very greasy and chopped instead of sliced like we ordered. The ribs were dry, not cut correctly, and we weren't even able to eat all the meat off the rib. The Mac n cheese was pretty good, beans and potato salad were okay. Sausage link was good a bit salty. Paid 38.00. Decently priced. Will not return. When the lady in the front asked how it was we told her it was okay and she seemed to be offended. read more

In Raymondville for business and stopped in for lunch. Self seating so no wait. Rustic rough wood walls inside. Drinks served in styrofoam to go cups with lids. Metal utensils and paper napkins self served from a roll on each table. Drink arrived quickly and order take with drink delivery. Ordered the brisket plate with sausage added, double serving of broccoli slaw ( recommended as awesome) and potato salad. Place was packed with locals so must be a local favorite. It is an all metal building and I found I had no cell reception inside. So don't expect to return calls or surf the web during your lunch break lol The brisket was very good, tender and flavorful bit did not taste smoked. The sausage and side were also very good. Delicious brisket and ribs. Great smoke flavor and outstanding sides. I had the beans and pan de campo. Did not know what the pan de campo was but was pleasantly surprised. It's like a wheat thin bread not sweet but tastes a little like buttermilk biscuits. Onion rings were great and the broccoli coleslaw was absolutely delicious. It's somewhat sweet and has raisins. Good for a large group. . .called ahead and we were accommodated for a group of 29. I had the sliced brisket sandwich basket with potato salad. The brisket was very tender. You know it's good when it's sorta in the middle of nowhere and the parking lot is packed. Driving from Brownsville to Corpus and didn't want to wait the hour and a half to get to Corpus for lunch. I searched my GPS and this BBQ joint came up. The outside doesn't look like much but the cars told the story. The locals know its good and I'll confirm that it was. Hand the brisket and some chicken. They close at 8 which is a little too early. I showed up at 7:20 and after being seated was told all the stuff that was not available, which was about 75% of the menu. So I got a chopped beef sandwich which was what I was going to get anyway so it wasn't any problem for me. It was a really good sandwich and I liked the sauce. I got onion rings and they were above average. The place was clean and staff was friendly. Prices were in line with other bbq in the region. The iced tea was outstanding. They must have good water. I will eat here again but try to get their earlier before they run out of most of their food. read more

No pecan pie! Seriously, This place is probably the best place to eat BBQ in the valley. Rudy's comes in second, sorry Rudy's! I have eaten here at least a dozen times and have never had a bad meal. From their Brisket burgers to their loaded potatoes filled with any meat toping you like, you can't go wrong. The also have some of the best sweet tea...i wonder how they make it? Just wish they had more desserts to choose from. Don't think this place is open anymore. Went there on Wednesday at 1 pm and it was closed. Doesn't seem like it's been open for a while.

When you arrive and see seven state police, the game warden, and 16 DOT workers complete with orange vests/shirts you feel safe and know you're in for some great BBQ--and the four of us were not disappointed! We ate BBQ chicken, BBQ ribs and two chopped brisket sandwiches. All were stellar. Onion rings and mac n cheese were tasty. A memorable side dish was broccoli slaw...be sure to order some!
