This park is nice but the bathrooms need incredible cleaning. The soaps were completely empty, the floors and every stall was disgusting. I know it's a public park and you don't expect it to be pristine but this is pretty unacceptable. Hopefully they will do better because I love this park. read more

Tucker's grove is one of my fav family bbq spots ever since I was a kid. I have lots of nostalgic memories at Tucker's Grove from hikes, church picnics and family bbqs. One of my favorite childhood parks! I've been here countless times over the years for family and business functions. Easter egg hunts, birthdays, company picnics, family barbecues, you name it. Though fairly close to the freeway, I see it as a true hidden oasis. The entrance is fairly nondescript and the park itself is rather hidden from the main road with its abundance of large trees. It's got a little something for everyone. Tucker's Grove has several areas which can be rented for events and let me tell you, these spots surely will be booked most every weekend during the spring and summer months. They can accommodate all sizes of groups. I've reserved group areas a few times through the County of SB and the process was simple. There is so much to do here. One can play on their multiple playgrounds, host a large barbecue on one of the many pits, engage in a game of horseshoes, meander off onto one of the upper trails, or simply sit back and take in the beautiful scenery. The parking lot is ample but will get completely full on a sunny weekend day so be prepared to walk a bit from one of the overflow areas. Highly recommended if you're looking for a serene yet fun space to check out! read more

Love the dog park! Fairly large and there are 2 dog wash stations. They cost $10 for 10 minutes and you can use all their shampoos/conditioners and the dryer which is very useful. To get their you have to park all the way at the end of the park and then walk a little path and pass a playground. read more

Pretty sweet park for a campground-ish feel. Last weekend I came here because I wanted to barbecue, and Girsh Park as well as Goleta Beach were completely full. Since Tucker's Grove is huge, we easily found parking and a barbecue several yards away from our car. We forgot to bring drinks but found vending machines as well as a water spigot, which we used to wash off our plates. read more

I came to Tucker's grove with my significant other and puppy, and had a fairly negative experience. First, let me start off with the good- there is ample parking to get to the dog park. It definitely took a second for me to find the dog park itself, as it's fairly tucked away, but once we got there, it was spacious and fairly well kept. I wish there was more grassy areas as our pup looked like Pigpen from Charlie Brown (dirt dust followed him everywhere). Now, for the not so good part of this review. We went into the dog park and let our pup go off leash. What first seemed to be dogs saying hi and playing soon after turned into dogs who were obviously bullying my pup even while under the "supervision" of the owners all collectively snickering by the benches (you know who you are). Now, you may wonder or think that I'm overly protective of my dog- I'm not. I know he can handle his own, but when three aggressive dogs continue to bull rush him and then I see my pup (who normally wags his tail even at the most confusing of times) had his tail between his legs. Surprisingly, when he finally broke free, he came and hid between my legs and these dogs (although they were somewhat friendly to other humans) wouldn't give my pup a break. Not only was it frustrating that out of the 10 people that were there, one person took their dog away and retreated, but I kept hearing snickering and what seemed to be a lack of respect not only towards my pup, but to myself and my significant other. On top of that, the conversations they were having obviously showed encouragement of dogs fighting one another. I don't get it. SB is an extremely dog-loving place, and I just happened to run into the 10 dog owners of SB who not only had bullies for dogs, but also had the persona of their dogs as well (or probably more vice versa). My experience really ruined the beauty of the park itself. I may come back to give it a second chance, but honestly, if I were to see the same group of people again, I would immediately turn my back to the park without batting an eye. read more

Dog friendly! This review is for the San Antonio Creek trail. There's plenty of parking space, just make sure to park all the way at the end of the lot (closer to the dog park) to save you from having to walk through boring parking lot. A mistake I made was I took a parking spot close to the entrance. I saw a brown wooden sign that said "trail" so I thought that was the start of it. It was not. It's part of the park trail, maybe .25 of a mile loop. Save yourself the time and energy and skip it. The real trail signs you want to look for are white, or the main one at the end of the parking lot that says "San Antonio Creek trail". There are a couple of minor creek crossings (there was still some water) so just be careful when rock hopping. Once we reached the end at San Marcos Pass Rd and it looked like there was more trail on the other side... DON'T DO IT. It's basically all in the sun, not scenic at all, and ends in a residential area that is closed off, forcing you to backtrack all the way to get back to your car. Don't make our mistake. Overall the San Antonio Creek trail was nice, mostly flat, shady trail. I would recommend it to people visiting with dogs. If you come in the summer, just make sure to bring a lot of water, you can stop at the dog park to refill. Also, the park opens at 8, which is a bummer to early bird hikers like me who like to go before it gets crowded/too hot. read more

Definitely excited to find this place but the address on here WILL NOT WORK THROUGH GPS/GOOGLE MAPS. You have to go to the intersection of turnpike and cathedral oaks and you'll be at the park. My navi & google maps took me to a private access road that will not get you to the park. Once in the park make a right and drive into the last parking area there is, then walk past the white gate down the trail and you will reach the park! My 9mo frenchie has only been to the dog park in Encino, which we love and has small/big dog sections. This park is for all sizes! It was nice giving my puppy some play with the big dogs! I would be careful if your dog is timid though. Very beautiful and lots of trees and grass. a few benches and a water fountain but i would recommend bringing your own water bowl as the ones there were very muddy. I would also recommend bringing your own toys if your dog likes to fetch as there were only a few old tennis balls. There are a few trash cans with pooper scoopers but i still noticed a lot of poo, so be careful where you step! I plan to bring my pup back here a few times a week, definitely very pleased! read more

Wonderful park with lovely picnic sites. This park is kept immaculate and the picnic sites are always clean and well maintained. The Ranger and park hosts at Tucker's Grove are friendly and very helpful for assisting visitors. The bathrooms are very clean and we love the kids play area with lots of swings and slides. During our family's mid-winter break last month, I asked the kind staff at the SB visitors center to suggest a place for a little persons hike that was safe after the previous months mudslides. They recommended Tuckers Grove and we came here a couple of days later on a fabulously sunny & warm day. The short hike we took started on one end of the back section of the park and up the hills, next to the homes that border the park to the north side. It then looped over and descended, bringing us into the other end of the wide park space. It seems there are longer hike/bike trails that run along San Antonio creek but that is *not* the hike we took due to the kiddo. I loved all the reservable areas that we passed on our return walk across the parking lots back to our car! Some serious bbq pit areas and amenities- looks like one can accommodate 400 people. Seems like a cute park with a nice kids playground. read more

This dog park is really dusty. There is very little grass and not many dogs go there. You turn right and the entrance, drive all the way down, park and then have to walk a bit to get to the actual enclosed off leash section. read more

This is a review for the dog park at Tucker's grove park. When you drive in to the park you want to drive as far back as possible after turning left. You then need to walk through the Kiwanis Meadows bbq area and you will see the enclosed dog park in the back. There are two secure gates to make sure no dogs can leave as you enter. This is a nice and unique dog park. Lots of trees and benches for people to enjoy while the dogs do their things. Plenty of random tennis balls laying around. There are natural hills in the park which I think adds to the overall dog exploring experience. There is a watering hole with several large bowls. This area typically turns into a mud pit since the whole park is mostly dirt right now (darn drought). My dog leaves absolutely filthy because she loves rolling around in the mud and dirt. I don't mind because she is in heaven there but if you can't handle some dirt, you might want to find an all grass park. I have never had an issue with any of the dogs or owners at this park! Many people bring books to relax while the dogs play. It really is a pretty park and I would highly recommend it! I find that the park is pretty empty in the earlier hours on weekends but is nice and busy from noon onwards. Similarly it is very busy around 5 onwards on weekdays. read more

The family area of the park is great. The dog park, well... My wife and I run a local dog walking business and used to frequent this park. Unfortunately we have largely stopped using it due to the high number of dangerous, callous and inappropriate behaviors we have witnessed on a regular basis. First you have to dodge the high number of car and RV bums to get to the back parking lot. The dog park is about 400 yards from the parking lot, and it is often very difficult to avoid unpleasant confrontation along the way (pulling and barking). Antisocial dogs and their uncaring owners dominate the area during most hours of the work day (10-4). Which then gives way to a regular, larger crowd of individuals who pay little to no attention as to how their dogs are interacting with others. Other parks such as Tabano Hollow and open spaces like Evergreen and More Mesa are much more preferable. read more

Tuckers grove is a great little park, you can have BBQs let your kids play on the playground or go on a hike in the hills behind. This is one of my favorite quick mountain bike spots to ride at. Side note this is a pretty great place for Pokemon Go because it has 4 Poké stops at the entrance. read more

TRASHED! This is a great park during the week when the County workers can stay ahead of all the litter that's generated, but on Friday, Sat and Sun the amount of trash and garbage that's generated on-site is un-realistic! How can people just throw their garbage, diapers, beer bottles and pinatta waste on the ground? There are 8 picnic sites that can be reserved for a fee, but no cleaning deposits are required so nobody has anything to lose by just trashing the place. The restrooms are cleaned every morning before the park opens, and are a major stop for all of those commuters from Santa Maria needing to empty their Starbucks. There's always a line waiting. The dog park is a nice feature but people must obey the leash law and not let their dogs run loose outside of the dog park. Loose dogs chase away the Blue Herons, the park's only natural predator for gopher control. The dog owners think it's cool, but it's not. Dog owners also need to be more responsible in picking up their dog's doodo as the kiddies will walk in it. Also, dogs should not be allowed in or on the playground equipment. They pee on things that kiddies come in contact with. Better reserve a picnic site on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor day, as the park is absolutely packed on weekends. There are some first-come-first-served sites available but people stake these out early, often before the park opens. Lets see: rental folding tables and chairs are not allowed. Must use park picnic tables only. So don't think you can rent the smallest, cheapest picnic site and expand it's seating capacity. There is a coke machine on-site. Vendors and pushcarts are NOT allowed unless they have a license from the County Health Department. You try to sell corn-on-the-cob from your un-licensed push-cart and the Park Ranger will HUNT YOU DOWN! Portable cooking equipment (propane or electric only BBQ's., chafing dishes, fryers, popcorn makers, griddles, etc.) are allowed. Must use park BBQ's only for charcoal fires. People don't understand: charcoal from portable BBQ's gets thrown in the bushes at the end of the day. Or the BBq's get thrown in the back of the pickup and then the driver drives real fast........ Only three of the biggest sites have electrical. WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC! KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR KIDS! PARK WORKERS GET HIT ALL THE TIME! Park opens at 8am, closes at Sunset (whenever that is). No, you can't use party lights to extend the day. And if you don't keep your music, the neighbors will call the sheriff on you. Park is at it's best during the week and early in the morning. But the park serves it's most basic use: in providing outdoor breathing space for those peoples who cram themselves into tiny apartments. I worked and lived there as a Park Host for almost 8 months. read more

Tuckers Grove off-leash dog recreation area can be reached by entering the park on Cathedral Oaks Road. Follow the parking areas on the right all the way to the back of the park. You will drive over a creek crossing and arrive at a separate parking area. From here, there is a paved path that leads to Kiwanis Meadows. As you arrive at the grassy meadow, the fenced dog run is easily recognizable. Surrounded by Coast Live Oaks and Sycamore trees, this dog park meets all expectations. Take the afternoon and relax with a picnic at one of the picnic sites, which include BBQ grills. For the kids there is a nice playground, and restroom facilities are within steps from the dog run. This is the most family friendly dog park in the area. This park is open from 8 AM - Sunset. Amenities: Dog waste bag dispensers, watering station and picnic benches within fenced area. Public restrooms, picnic area, hiking trails, and playground are located in the immediate vicinity of dog run. read more

This park is one of our favorites. There is something for everyone. The play area has something for babies up to elementary school. There is a large grassy area with a ton of picnic tables. For nature lovers, there are lots of hiking options and a creek in the winter. But what some people don't know is that there is a "hidden" part of Tucker's Grove. If you go to your right when you enter and head back through all of the parking lots, there is another large group picnic area, another (small) play structure, an off leash dog park, plus a great hiking/running trail along San Antonio Creek! read more

Tucker's Grove is one of our favorite parks in Santa Barbara. I love bringing my kids and extended family to play on the slides, swings, climb around, explore, picnic BBQ, or go for a hike up San Antonio trail. And as another person mentioned, a great place to take a nap in the shade. With the rain today the creek is flowing steadily... Been a long time since I've seen that happen! A wonderfully large dog park but very few dogs and people visit it on the regular so it's a bit of lacking for social playtime. It also tends to be 5-10 degrees warmer around the park due to it's inland location, so when it's hot it's much to hot for long haired dogs. I would imagine it would an ideal dog park for fetch-obsessed short-haired dogs who like to to run long distances! read more
