I hired tuff shed to build a custom shed for me in a unique space. My space was a 9 foot x 24 foot slab on the back of my two car garage. I opted for a leanto style shed due to numerous large trees that are in the back of my garage. The leanto style would allow me to slide it up under my eaves, thus leaves and acorns would have no way of getting trapped between the shed and garage and decaying there. I hired a contractor to shorten my eaves so that I could maximize the height on the wall next to the garage. Overall I got about the most shed I could for the space that I have. My sales Rep Bill Johannessen was pleasant to work with and always available, even on his day off. I would rate this experience a 5 star rating for the people experience I had and the constant communication that they had with me about my desires. The reasons I don't are because of several factors. 1. Luckily I know enough about construction to challenge the constructors on how they were building the shed. I wanted a window to marry up to my garage window so that I could have emergency access to my garage if need be. In retrospect I didn't need that window at all, I only needed them to leave me an opening and not put a window in. Instead, as part of the cost of the shed, they put a window in that I'm considering taking out now. The height of this window was an issue and I had to measure it myself so that I could explain to the carpenters that they could put the window in at the appropriate height. They were adamant that this could not be done but I challenged them by having them measure from the top down and proving there was enough space. In fact, they could have put the window all the way up to the header but instead made a cripple and cross beam thus putting the window lower on the wall than it needed to be, but it is functional the way it is. I suggested that they put the window in sideways and they accommodated my wishes. Again, in retrospect I only needed the opening. The other issue I had was that I was not given an option for a flatter roof despite making this very clear that the pitch was important to me. Instead I was told the pitch had to be what it was due the shingles and building code, etc. I was told once they started the shed that I could have a different roof instead of shingles that would allow me to have a lower pitch and thus a higher short wall. I was even told I could have had a steel roof had I wanted. I would have absolutely opted for that option had I been told. In any event, they changed the roof from a shingle roof to membrane type roof on the site and thus gave me a lower pitch and a higher wall on the low side than I would have had with a shingle roof. The other issue I had was that I was told the shed would have to be on blocks in order to slide the shed back to the wall. This was not true at all. We slid the shed with the help of a come-along no problem. In fact, I did it by myself after they left just to slide it a couple more inches one way. Fortunately, the guys who assembled the shed knew they could slide it so they maximized my roof height on the garage side to just barely fit under the rafters as it was positioned by the wall. Like I said, the people experience was great but I feel fortunate that I've built a few things in my life and was able to get the most I could for the space that I have. read more

From start to finish, my experience was dealing with Tuff Shed has been 100% on key, perfect, no complaints. I started doing some homework, looking online for a Tuff Shed back in December. My old shed was torn up during Ida and it needed to be replaced. I've driven by the office in Jefferson many times and I decided to stop by after playing around with some ideas on their website. The process was easy, we came up with an estimate based on my ideas and I was able to come home with a firm price. Zero high pressure selling. I'm returned basically the next day and gave Julie the okay to proceed. I was contacted by the company and we scheduled a firm install date. They handled the permitting process with minimal requirements on my end. They remained in contact with me throughout the process and arrived as promised on the build date. I had a great experience with Tuff Shed. Dee designed the shed according to my specifications and completed the paperwork in obtaining the building permit. She was easy to talk with and answered all my questions. If she wasn't available, she always returned my calls promptly. Great product. My first one is 15 years old, and with the exception of painting it a couple of years ago, it is maintenance free and like new. Solid and well built.
