I came here for a wedding and the property is simply gorgeous! There was no dedicated vegetarian food option at the reception, so there wasn't much food for me to eat. I asked a server if there was anything they would prepare for me to eat, but they weren't helpful, saying they had nothing else prepared. I've been to other wedding venues that were more accommodating. The cocktail hour food was very good - cheese, fruit, etc. It's a very nice venue overall, with incredible views. read more

We had the pleasure in recently visiting this winery. Our son has never been to a winery for the wine tasting experience. Since we were visiting the area, we thought we would bring him along and give your winery a try. We enjoyed some wine as we indulged in your charcuterie board on the patio. Everything was delicious. We moved downstairs to the tasting room and the bartender "Mike" was excellent in all ways. He made the experience fun and our son totally enjoyed the experience. First the good news: Great atmosphere, incredible views, nice ride there. Now the bad news: The breakfast buffet was a major disappointment. I can honestly say that the quality of this food was the same or worse than what we have had at free continental breakfast at hotels. All the food was lukewarm at best, and the buffet table was a mess. Food and dripping all over the table itself around the food trays. We would normally not even go to a buffet but the Tug Hill Estate being such a nice high-class place we thought the food and buffet would be too. We were very wrong. The scrambled eggs were overcooked. The Bacon Cheddar Frittata was also overcooked and bland. Not sure if it even had bacon or cheddar in it. The blueberry french toast was dry, and just had a handful of blueberries tossed on top of them in the tray. The maple-glazed ham had no maple glaze whatsoever. The Applewood Smoked Bacon was simple bacon that was somewhat greasy. The strips were one big tangled mess in the serving tray. They pay no attention to detail here. The meatballs in wine sauce were the only thing tasty - I liked them. Wild rice - mushy Chicken in Vodka Sauce was not even on the table Roasted season vegetables .. nope .. just a pile of broccoli. Now the deserts looked good, but that's where it ended. Also a major letdown. The cupcakes. coffee cake frosting tasted like butter with Crisco mixed in. Truthfully something was wrong here. The cake portion tasted store-bought. Hard to shake the taste of that frosting! I saw dishes with the sign Red Velvet Crème Brulees! Onward to that .. and ohhhhh boy. Nope - not Crème Brulee. The top was not crunchy like it is supposed to be, and the rest of it certainly did not taste like cream, yolks, and vanilla beans. It was just some type of pudding. It was good, but it was not Crème Brulee - let down again! Really disappointed in this experience and hated to see $69 of my fixed retirement income wasted. The place is really nice, and from where we were seated we can see vineyards and windmills! Gorgeous. We were also able to see a few outside tables .. and we watched an elderly couple eat. They got a bottle of wine and a Charcuterie that looked great. We watched them eat their cheese, crackers, fruits, and some kind of meat. We want to go back one day but will skip the breakfast and just go for the Charcuterie. Too bad - we really wanted to at least like and hopefully love the Sunday meal there. read more

Went for a date night for their Italian food and wine pairing dinner. The food, wine parings, and service were all spot-on and made for a delicious and enjoyable evening. The only two gripes I had was that the table we were placed at was facing a wall, and there was hardly any breeze coming in, so it was pretty warm inside. Stop by for the wine and the views. Gorgeous venue for wedding receptions. Don't stop by and expect a restaurant. They serve what I consider a prix fixe menu for dinner weekend nights but the laid back turnaround coming out of the kitchen - maybe a 30 minute wait for your food - is too long for the casual drop in dinner customer. I assume it suffers from the same labor shortage I see at many restaurants today. Try stopping by for just the wine, maybe a plate of cheese, or the brunch. They're very proud of their Marquette grapes and wine - and it is very good - but I get the Frontenac. And, invest 5-10 minutes just walking around the grounds in the summer. We went here for the Father's Day Brunch. There was no wait time - we were immediately seated as soon as we arrived. The staff was courteous and friendly. There was a phenomenal view out the window of the vineyard and the decor inside was very relaxed. The brunch had a plethora of different options for food that were both adult and kid friendly. All the food was seasoned extremely well and not stale being on a buffet. There are walking trails that you can take advantage of and lots of natural greenery surrounding. Like at all the local wineries tastings are far different now at Tug Hill Winery. You choose what wines to taste and then take them outside to sit at a table. Unfortunately with brunch going on upstairs, one poor worker was left covering the whole tasting room and the cash register. One of the new rules because of Covid is that for every two people tasting, you have to pay five dollars for cheese and crackers. And the cheese is amazing. That was the best sharp cheddar I've had in years. read more

Went here for their Valentine's Day Wine and Food pairing dinner. The food was EXCEPTIONAL and the wine they chose to pair each dish with honestly matched perfectly! They certainly know what they are doing! The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming and the service was wonderful we had such an amazing time! 100% would recommend! Whether you are going to their Sunday brunch, or planning an event - Tug Hill Vineyards is one of the best things about upstate, NY. The food is excellent, and you can try a wide variety of their wine selection downstairs, in the tasting room. I'm normally not one for sweet wines, but their strawberry rhubarb wine is to die for; but if it's a dry(er) red wine you're after, I recommend the Marquette. As far as events are concerned, we had our wedding here last year, and I cannot imagine a better setting - the view is stunning (my pics hardly do it justice). They are an affordable venue for any budget, and their staff went above and beyond to make sure our day was absolutely perfect. I do not miss living in upstate NY at all (the winters did not agree with me at all) but I do miss the heck out of Tug Hill Vineyards, their Sunday brunches, and the wine. read more

This place is pretty special. Its a vineyard on the side of the hill with excellent landscaping--its mind boggling to think of how much work they do to get it looking like that once the snow melts, wow. My Mom was a regular at the "Wine Down" happy hour type event every Thursday this summer. She looked forward to it every week--you can order wine and other beverages along with a meat or cheese platter, and even french onion soup--which is what I always pick. Then you can sit and just enjoy the view from the hill and the nice breezes. The main building has some really nice wood finishings and I always find myself imagining parties I could have in a place like that. Its a little too small for a regular sized wedding (the inside is, you could have one outside in a tent, which they do regularly), but an anniversary party for my parents...maybe hmm. My parents will be married for 40 years in 2014, so who knows. Anyway I don't drink wine so I always end up as the designated driver when my mom comes here with her guest of the week (we live in CT and Mom stays at Chase Lake all summer). The cheese is always good, the meat isn't really anything special. I love the french onion soup. Some day i am going to get here for the Sunday brunch, the menu for it looks just amazing. One time I came here and they were cooking the apple wood bacon for something-either a private party or the sunday brunch and it smelled SO GOOD in there. read more

Brunch is a buffet of typical breakfast foods, like Belgian waffles with berries, scrambled eggs with bacon and cheddar, bacon, ham, hash, and a sweet dessert bar. Food wasn't bad but we got there right when they opened and I don't think the waffles held up well to sitting on the buffet line and would be preferred to order my meal fresh. Also almost didn't get seated so make sure to make reservations in advance. Very popular place! $3 to sample 6 wines. Most of the wines are on the sweeter side (2/3 are white wines) and the bottles are a little more pricey than other area wineries (~$15). Lastly, the view is spectacular. Amazing View, wine is meh, i just bough 1 or 2 bottles that's it. Moving on every weekend i planned to go relax from a stressful week with friends they always told us even if we close at 4pm you can stay in the backyard and enjoy the place. Well the last time i went Owner just screamed at us in front of everybody else that we couldnt stay after 4pm that this was the last time she would say that to us in a very UNPLEASANT WAY! I am saying that I have been to quite a few winery's but more than likely not enough. It's on a beautiful property with amazing landscapes. The time alone spent on the view outside are worth the stop. I have to admit I like the taste of wine and know nothing about it. So take this as you will, I had a great conversation with a woman there and did not realize she was a owner. Very friendly and knowledgeable! This place is awesome! You'll have to grab the brunch in the weekend, but make sure you call ahead and make a reservation as spots fill up quickly. When you first arrive you take a slow drive up the hill, maple trees and their sap tubes to your right, and the beautiful vineyard fields to the left. You'll reach the top and see the vineyard ship and dining room. When you walk in you'll be greeted with a hand written sign menu featuring the buffet items and be walked to your table. It's a nice simple dining room with beautiful wood textures and a wonderful view down the rolling hills. The food where was fantastic and everything tastes homemade with love. The menu is a great mix of breakfast favorites, sweet homemade desserts, and evening in between. It's a self serve style buffet and the staff is super friendly and great to make recommendations for anyone with food allergies. After brunch, don't forget to head downstairs to the gift shop and pick out one of the many offerings. I suggest the blueberry wine as one of the family favorites. read more

The service always leaves a bit to be desired, but usually when I've been to brunch, the food has been great. This time the food was gross (watery poached eggs, cold food, burnt toast) and the spread was limited. For the price, it definitely isn't worth it. Additionally she rushed my group through their tasting spilling wine and and skipping a lady in my group not once twice but three times. The wine there is decent and the vineyard is beautiful but the service there from the owner is ridiculous. I'll never go to this winery again and I will not ever go back to this vineyard. read more
