For only a $1, we had super low expectations, but were actually blown away! We were served a homestyle breakfast which included scrambled eggs, hash browns, ham slices, toast with all the fixings, and even fresh apples! Coffee and water are included or you can pay an extra $.50 for orange juice. We will be making this a regular tradition and likely donating a little extra to keep this program alive and well. They had oldies music playing in the background as well. We were told that earlier in the morning they had pancakes and beans as well, so now we'll make more of an effort to arrive earlier. The community center staff are very friendly and welcoming and I was impressed with all the various offerings they have, including an American Mahjong group which I will most definitely be joining.

We spent some time exploring the room that has antique desks, newspapers, magazines, photos, books, and other things. They didn't have many books for sale for adults, as some libraries do. Overall, it was a nice stop and fun to see some books by local authors and historic items.

People talk in their full voices on their cell phones and the librarians don't ask them to go outside. Also, teenagers use one of the Eugene Manlove Rhodes Room to hang out in, lounge on the floor, talk, laugh, socialize, etc... It's kind of a loud library, not a great place to plug in and work. More desks with plug-ins would be great. Posted signs about not talking on cell phones might help. Also, isn't there somewhere else teenagers can go be loud?

We spoke to the ranger, a middle-aged man, very fit, with chiseled facial features and a snarky attitude. Upon inquiring about some shorter, less challenging trails, his response was, "Well all of our trails are pretty much moderate to difficult. This isn't like walking in the mall in Houston". Right, thanks for that tidbit of useless information. How about the next time one of the hundred tourists with Texas plates strolls through the door, you give them a free map and point out the legend on the separate flyer that rates each trail by difficulty and mileage, and wave them off with a, "Good day!" The park service definitely doesn't pay him for his great customer service skills, but thank you to Ranger Rick...or maybe Ranger Dick for at least handing us the free map so we could be on our way on some of those "mall in Houston" hikes.

On Friday's they have kids activities at 1 pm and movies at 3. I will say we don't go to the movies because they are all 50s based and actually bore the kids. Like Kurt Russel in the Computer wore Tennis Shoes. 5 yr kids just don't understand why computers were so big and why he spoke "funny". Just too old fashioned. Would be better to do a Disney free movie day if it must be older pick things like Swiss family Robinson or old Yeller (tho that one is super sad) or just do good but less popular cartoon movies or movies like the old escape from witch mountains. 1940s movies are pushing it for today's kids. But hey at least they offer it!! My 5 yr old and 11 yr old love the activities. They've built robotic legos and had scavenger hunts and another Friday multiple tables with slime and kinetic sand and clay that was mixed with shaving cream. All in all a great small town library with an entire section for children. Very well done.

Hi, I want to leave a review for DNA MVD Title Services located at 2605A N White Sands Blvd. I had…read morea unique problem in that my car was stolen and since I lost the title I needed a replacement title for insurance compensation purposes. I went to NM DMV in Alamogordo about it and after 4 visits all New Mexico DMV would do is give me an 800 number to call in Santa Fe. I asked the office to call them while I was there and was refused that request. I talked to my insurance agent about this issue and one of them in the Alamogordo office recommended DNa Title. Several offices here but luckily the first one I went to was what I needed. I told the Desk Agent my problem and she said she could help, so I left her with the paperwork to start on it. A few weeks later she said she needed an additional document and that I would need to come by and sign it. I did so and after signing I asked how much it will cost. It was under $50 and I put it on a credit card. That was today (06/12/24), and she said the replacement title will be mailed to me in a week or 2. At this point I have to say I am extremely satisfied with DnA Title. From what I can tell there is no need for anyone to go to NM DMV when this excellent service is available as an alternative and at a reasonable price. I have seen one review that is 4 years old complaining about over-charging and I cannot dispute that claim of course. But I do note that a lot of time has gone by and maybe this specific branch was not even there at that time or was just getting started. Anyway I should be receiving my replacement title in about 2 weeks and I will definitely provide an updated review to accurately conclude this one. They are that good so far.

The Company gladly offers "Curb Side Service". This way they can transfer the title inside and bring out the sales receipt for an OUTRAGEOUS amount. The most we have paid for a Title Transfer was $40. This company charged $27 for the Title Transfer and then threw their "Sales Commission" charges of $209.80 under "State of New Mexico Fee." How can you challenge the charge AFTER the service has already been processed. DnA Title Services is taking advantage of customers during this pandemic. Sad to see a company with NO Ethics.

Of course the White Sands Missile Range is huge. It's beyond huge. It's massive. We got through the…read moregate at 9:30am (after waiting two hours in the queue) and didn't get to Ground Zero for a half hour. That's 30 minutes of driving in the military base at 30-40 mph. And we didn't even get to the *center* of the Missile Range! WSMR opens twice a year for tourists to visit the Ground Zero site under highly controlled and secure conditions. You'll need to show ID at the gate and you can't bring alcohol, weapons or drugs. The guards (yes, actual Army personnel) will ask. And you don't want to mess around or joke. I've reviewed the Trinity Site separately. This review is just for the WSMR which is secure, professional and yes, gigantic. I'll need to come back when it's not Open House day to tour the museum. I did a Silly Thing: I had Amazon send me a package to my AirBNB here in Ruidoso. I never thought…read morefor a moment that the package might be sent by USPS instead of UPS. When Amazon told me the package had been delivered, I realized my mistake. So, I texted the owner of the AirBNB, but he told me that he didn't have a mailbox here at all, because of it being a short-term rental. What to do? I went down to the Post Office on Mechem Drive, and was assisted by a gentleman named Frank. Frank took my information and enlisted the aid of another gentleman whose name I didn't get, but whom Frank called "Boss." Together, the two of them worked to locate my package and have it brought back to the Post Office where I picked it up in due course. What a great example of going "above and beyond" in Customer Service. It meant a lot to me to receive such professional and courteous and effective service. Thank you, Frank and Boss!! (By the way, you'll notice that this is posted under a different name, but it's still me, the fat old guy with the bum leg! Thanks again!)

This is Apache Summit on US-70 which has an elevation of 7591 feet. The road here is two lanes on…read moreeach side with a wide breakdown lane where you can stop to read the marker and maybe take a photo. The marker reads, "Sierra Blana, a complex ancient volcano, rises more than 7300 feet above Tularosa Basin to peak at 12,003 feet. Vertical geologic movement between ranges and basin is about 2 miles. San Andres Mountains on west side of Tularosa Basin are uplifted on east side and tilted westward. Elevation 4,670 feet." The majority of the Sierra Blanca range is within the Lincoln National Forest, and part of this is protected as the White Mountain Wilderness Area. Much of the southern half of the range, including the summit of Sierra Blanca Peak, is within the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation. The peak is sacred to the Mescalero Apache, and requires a permit from the tribe for access. Sierra Blanca is a massive complex of volcanic rocks, including pyroclastic materials, lava flows, and intrusions. An ancient and heavily eroded volcanic pile, it is the largest mid-Tertiary volcanic complex east of the Rio Grande, with an estimated volume of erupted products of 185 cubic miles.
