Came here late on Saturday morning with, I admit it, a teeny tiny hangover. First of all, you might not ever find it unless you have local friends who are Tulip addicts (it's off on a side street next to a parking lot). But Tulip is well worth seeking out. I have not had a real galette since that dreamy semester of my junior year in Paris. I will not bring Guillaume into this review, even though he made the best galettes in France, because it was quite a few years ago and I have mostly forgotten the boy, although it all came back to me sinking my teeth into a very close approximation to a French galette (for those of you who don't know, it is a crepe made with buckwheat flour, a bit coarser and more substantial and delicious.) Rolled and stuffed with a variety of savory fillings. In this case, the very traditional Bretagne ham and egg with cheese (I'll pardon the cheddar, it's usually gruyere). Absolutely delicious. Almost as big a surprise was the coffee, also very strong and French. It all did wonders for my hangover. And there was an impossibly beautiful young woman seen who supposedly ran the place. I went through the reviews, and I was thrilled to see our local mega blogger had been here a while back... even though she gave it a three star, it came highly recommended. Yep, the place is another new agey-hippy divey feel - mismatched, not an elegant local. The killer for the deal is the FOOD! And so friendly service. I couldn't be happier with my light buckwheat crepe filled with spinach-feta and a crispy crunchy side salad. My husband had a fluffy turkish bread mushroom-brie and omelette sandwich BOTH SOOO flavorful! Coffee is great. Good food, nice people. Hit the spot. Why is it 5 star in my book? Loved this place. Super friendly and welcoming staff; delicious selection of Turkish-inspired dishes from savory or sweet crepes, flatbreads, panini sandwiches, regular sandwiches, and a great selection of drinks including Turkish coffee and tea. Showed up with a party of 6, middle of the day, restaurant practically empty. Kid behind the bar refuses to seat/serve us because they have a 24-hour reservation policy for larger parties. Fair enough. After all, the pandemic is still going on. However, this kid was extremely unfriendly about it. No effort to compromise (there was plenty of room to split our party into pairs, and we would've gladly done so), no offer to provide a take-out option. We stopped for a night in Brattleboro on our way home to NJ from Burlington and 75% of the reason was to come here for the Salmon crepes. Absolutely my favorite breakfast ever. They are so so so delicious, light, filling, savory and bright. I wish I could have them every day. Great service from really friendly people. My sister and I (and our 3 high maintenance toddlers) came here for lunch and were expected a frantic experience with annoyed staff as we were accustomed to. They staff tucked us in a corner, took excellent care of us AND managed to make us feel like it was a privilege. I have been a mom for 10 years and this was the best dining experience I've ever had with kids. Food was delicious. Lattes were decadent. Too bad I'm from out of state or I would make it a regular part of my life to dine out here. read more

Ok salad with grilled chicken. Very small. More side side than lunch size. So, the food was three stars tastewise, taken down to two stars for value, pushed back up to three stars for an excellent server. But there are better lunch options downtown for sure. read more

Great food with lots of flavor! These guys make you feel like you're guests at their home. I ordered the Falafel, which is my go-to anytime it's on a menu. It was chock full of scrumptious falafel, veggies & sauce. They even put a special hot sauce on it upon request. Washed it down with good coffee. Totally satisfied! Out of all the places I could have stumbled upon while I visited Brattleboro, I'm very glad I walked in here for lunch! The service was almost too good! Because I live in this town I have found myself soliciting this establishment more than once and always to my utter regret. I worried that it might just be me but my own experiences have been corroborated by others who have had similar experiences. Looked forward to coming here since our last visit 1 year ago. We drove from New York, and took the long route to our vacation spot, but when we got here, they wouldn't swap sundried tomatoes for fresh tomatoes on a panini. It was the last day of my job in Brattleboro, and my coworkers took me to eat here. Tulip Cafe had recently opened at the time. I ordered a feta and spinach crepe. I was due to start my job the next day. I went through that first day of the new job with food poisoning that worsened into the night, and caused me to miss the second day of it. This is a delicious and different breakfast/lunch option in Bratt. I've had the Kurmava crepe (Turkish seasoned beef, onions, peppers) both times I've been there and it is DELICIOUS. Stopped for brunch as we had never been in before. Quiet little spot in the middle of downtown. That's about the best I can say. Service was slow and there was only 8 customers in the place. However I counted 8 employees walking about the place in various discussions. It took 25 minutes to get French toast. The food tasted good but we paid 11.00 for two pieces of bread with fruit. That's it, nothing else. With two orders with orange juice our total was 30.00. Pretty pricy for a little breakfast. We won't be back. read more

This place is amazing! I have been here three or four times. Had the ginger chicken curry sandwich with the tabouli salad my first time here and that is all I come here for. I have never had service even close to as bad as what I just had here. We ordered 3 coffees which were brought out in intervals of 10 minutes, we never got water that we asked for twice, and I had to go up to the counter to get a muffin that I asked for twice. My family and I headed up to Brattleboro to spend the afternoon with my sister and I used Yelp to find a place to lunch. I liked the idea of a place that served crepes and sandwiches which I knew would appeal to my kids. The food turned out to be very good (I ordered the lunch crepe with chicken, mushrooms, cheddar and bechamel sauce, my husband and kids an Italian sandwich.) mine was served with a lovely side of tabouli salad and the other with chips and a pickle. I went with my visiting son to the café. I'd never been. I'm very glad I gave it a try. The coffee is great for starters. The correct cups for cappuccino and beautiful designs on the mocha latte which was neither too sweet nor too bitter. The crepes were tasty and served with an excellent shredded salad. Was so excited to see a sign advertising their gluten free crepes. Unfortunately upon making sure that they use different surfaces to avoid cross contamination, I was met with a pretty awful experience. A woman with a short black bob told me that the advertisement only applies to the batter, not the environment in which it is cooked. I thanked her and suggested that she continue to make this clear to people who order the gluten free crepes because they could make a lot of unsuspecting people very ill. She rolled her eyes and said that people who are that sensitive need to take care of themselves. So...on that note, just a warning: if you want safe gluten free food, tulip cafe is not for you. However if its willful ignorance you're after, you will find it here in spades. read more

Came in for a late lunch and everything was great until our food came. One person I was with thought their salad dressing tasted sour so she sent it back. They offered to make another one but that she would have to pay for it so she said no thanks. When her bill came they charged her for it so I went to ask them about it. They basically said they don't make food for free and that she needed to pay for it. I argued that she had taken one bite, thought it tasted sour, and sent it back. ANY restaurant that I have ever eaten at or worked at would have at least offered something else but the owner was rude and they just said No we don't ever do that. Beware if you eat here and don't like your food that you will be paying for it and leaving on an empty stomach. read more
