I called Larin Tree and he had his crew here within an hour. These guys are amazing. Within two hours of my call, the tree was down, the stump gone and every single piece of fruit picked up. This was not a minor trim...five branches were removed from a tree that does not belong to their client. At no point did anyone knock on my door, attempt to verify property lines, or get consent before cutting. This shows a serious lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for property rights. To make matters worse, the cuts they made left the tree looking uneven, poorly shaped, and clearly not cared for by a professional. It now looks damaged rather than maintained. If you're considering hiring this company, I strongly suggest confirming how they handle property boundaries and neighbor communication because in my experience, they did neither. I am extremely disappointed and would caution others before using their services.

My mom got a letter a year ago about her trees needing to come down per the city the were dead and dangerous (later found out they only reason the city only makes a stink if someone calls the city),nosey ass people! so after that letter she broke her pelvic bone in 2 places and was out in skilled nursing for 8 weeks. So an extension was given until July and we had several tree services come out and bid the jobs. My mom is on a fixed income so the bids were a lot...then I thought I found my saving grace. Ron hill at Hill Top Tree Service what a joke. He was going to do it for $850 and donate his time! I scheduled it and well long story short he never showed or called! This happened on 3 different times, Trevor at Ace Tree Service and cousin of my sons gf who runs a tree service with dad! (Not sure the name). So after everyone flaking out the city sent out Mark Weber with Weber Tree service and at first thought he was a good guy trying to help...of course looks can be deceiving..,he said he would see if the city would let us wait until January where it would be cheaper and it would be $3500 if we had haul off and $5500 if he hauled it off! So he called a week later to advise that the city would not extend again and we needed to get them down but they would take on the charges on the personal property taxes in July of 2022 so we could save the money! I had someone to come get it but it would be the weekend and the city told him (Mark Weber) that it needed to be removed the day they came down...well the people work. He told us to go to the city and fill out some paperwork! while Mark Weber was here he was told if the wood could not be moved the same day and if we got rude with Steven Jackson he would have a Gladstone police make us stay in our home while they wirked and finished so against my rights and well I know most all Gladstone PD. He (Mark) says the city would "make/force" my neighbors take their fence down as they were not agreeable due to Mr. Weber not wanting to take responsibility if the fence got tore up so our options were to take the fence down or he could and any repairs he would increase the price! Unmmmm no unacceptable! So my mom and I make a trip to the city an no papers had to be filled out and he backed up Weber's story. He then Steven Jackson (the city asshole) ask if I had called Darrell Day? I said "who's that"? He said he is a tree guy..."okay smartass i am aware, can I get a number"? So that is when I met a man that runs a business with the Utmost professionalism. I spoke to him and he ask me if I was just given he's number, my response! YEP! He does work for the city of Gladstone a lot and so he made some phone calls to city and he let them know how he felt about waiting to give him his number! He again tried to get them to push it out until January of course that was a NO! So Darrell called and said we will figure this out. He called me the next day and said can you schedule a electrically line drop for 21st and let me know that we had until the end of the month to get the logs out after his crew got it on the ground. He sent his guy out to take the fence down. He moved a couple of jobs around tHe informed me that he and any tree service should take responsibilityp for any fence or anything that was broken due to him and his crew. My neighbors had no problem allowing them to take the fence down. We had a snag with evergy being booked for line drops, but that's okay because Darrell knew some people and he bent over backwards to make sure a line drop was done for the tree removal. He took the cable line down and made sure it was reconnected (they forgot the cable and left) Darrell sent someone out immediately to reconnect it. He came out the night before and sat down with us to go over everything and price and what would be added money wise if he had to return to remove the logs. His crew was very efficient and came out on the 21st got started, worked all day and didn't quite get finished so the returned the next day and got the job finished early. A four day job in 2 days. He called my mom everyday to give us update. He had to cut the poles of our fence out and so he replaced all of those and had the fence put He said it would be the next day for the chain link to go up. So about 3 hours the man came back to put the chain link because he knew how worried about our dogs running off, very kind and professional. My son realized there was a huge hole in the chain that he missed. Darrell had someone out the very next day! I would recommend Day tree service to anyone. He's professional,personable, honest, fair and has amazing communication skills. He was fast and efficient. He refused but said he would come back at a later date and trim the tree further back to my satisfaction. I have since called him five times to try to get him to come back. He always has some lame excuse. On one such call he even said he was out of the country! The last time I called, after listening to my request he hung the phone up on me. I should have withheld payment until I was satisfied. That was my mistake, but that doesn't excuse his lack of courtesy or behavior nor the fact that he lied to me and never had any intention of returning to trim the tree to my satisfaction. Needless to say, I will do no further business with him or his company nor do I recommend him to anyone else. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN. If you do hire him, make sure you do not pay him until you are satisfied with the work. As the customer, you have the right to have the work done to your satisfaction, and as the saying goes, the customer is always right.

Everyone tells you when you first buy a house that you'll uncover something that requires more cash…read morethan you'd like to part with right away. For us, it was a gnarly, tall, dead, poison ivy covered, rotting tree that in my mind was ready to fall on my car or roof. My experience with A-Alpha clocks in at a 3.5 stars, with some ups and downs, and eventually rounded up for customer service. I was shocked by some initial quotes on just how much it is to not only get a tree down but remove the wood. Shocked. Like $1500/$1600. Gross. We saw the positive reviews from A-Alpha that were totally confirmed when I met with the owner, Calvin. Calvin is super friendly, super responsible and has more reasonable rates. I visited with him and requested a certificate of insurance which he was able to provide for my property faster than I could get the words out -- a great sign. He penciled us in during the busy season (spring) and had a crew out two days later chopping and chipping away. The whole thing was done in an afternoon. Now I have to say, I was bummed when I went outside and saw some massive holes in my yard and a large cracked piece of sidewalk. The crew told me they'd come back and fix that the next day which didn't happen specifically then, but Calvin stayed in frequent contact to make sure they'd make it right. He was a upset with the crew and insisted that this should never happen, that a mistake was made and again that they'd get it handled quickly. They did. They also filled the holes with topsoil and grass seed which I'll have to monitor to get it growing again. It kind of stinks because with the older neighborhood I'm in, the concrete doesn't come close to matching and sticks out like a sore thumb, but really there's nothing anyone can do about that. Spending a ton of money on something like this is never fun, nor is having something go a bit wrong with the project, but when someone makes it right that goes a long way for me. If I hadn't ever heard from them again I'd be livid, but this case was pretty much the opposite. That being said, I hope to hell I never need them again because parting ways with a lot of money to have a tree go bye-bye is not one of life's finer moments!

I explained the situation with homeowner insurance giving me notice of cancellation in 4 weeks if trees not trimmed. He promised he could get it done in that time frame. Had me scheduled for approximately 2 weeks later. Cancelled on me twice because if possibility of rain. It did not rain. It was evident by 8 am it was not going to rain. We were scheduled again and was canceled because " a worker had other plans". I. had to repeatedly contact him to get it rescheduled. He finally told me he was going on vacation and could not get it done. When I asked him about meeting the insurance companies time line he sent a text that said "I can't guarantee anything at this point over a week away. I will call you when I get back, and if you still need it done, I'll be more than happy to take care of you." I ended up signing with another tree company who completed the job in 5 days. Don't waste your time with this company.
