I booked our flights home from Istanbul originally on Turkish via United on points with a layover at Heathrow before heading to Los Angeles. After I booked the flight, I did some research and started to freak out a little. You see, there was a lot of confusion as to whether or not we had free checked bags since I booked with United, but on the Turkish app, it said 0 kg checked bags. I had to contact their customer service and got some mixed news. The person on the phone said we would get checked bags but the email customer service told us to check with United. Well, because I booked with United and I have an Explorer card, I get my first checked bag free, but United also told me to check with Turkish. All the confusion was causing unnecessary stress. I don't know about you but traveling internationally with just a carry-on is hard but not unheard of. I've done it but prefer to have the flexibility of checking my luggage. We ended up finding a direct flight from Istanbul to Los Angeles closer to our trip and I was able to refund and rebook. On my rebooked flight, we did confirm that their fine print changed and the flight would include checked bags. Whew! Fast forward to our actual flight from Istanbul to Los Angeles. We arrived at the airport around 5 am for our 8:35 am flight. The security took forever to get through. Since it is a Turkish Airlines hub, we proceeded to a Turkish Airlines desk for early flights and were redirected to a longer line to check our luggage. Mind you, there is no luggage drop off like there is in Los Angeles. You need to go to the counter to get your luggage travel tags. You also need to go through 2 layers of security just to get to the terminal, a passport check to drop off luggage, and an additional passport checks before you can board. Once on board, we were given a small Lacoste amenity kit with eye-mask, slippers, toothbrush, and toothpaste. The seats were comfortable for economy and we had 2 meals on our direct flight. The food was decent and I enjoyed it. We had huge overhead bin space and to be honest, I could have fit my carry-on suitcase in it but I ended up putting my backpack in there since I checked the suitcase. The entertainment screen was really nice and they provided headphones if you did not bring your own. I tried to get some sleep but I ended up playing a couple movies when I could not. The service was great as the flight attendants came around often. We were able to get wine or beer with our meals. We arrived at LAX without any delays. Our luggage arrived on the baggage carousel too so that was great. Turkish Airlines gets 4 stars in my book.

I booked our flights home from Istanbul originally on Turkish via United on points with a layover at Heathrow before heading to Los Angeles. After I booked the flight, I did some research and started to freak out a little. You see, there was a lot of confusion as to whether or not we had free checked bags since I booked with United, but on the Turkish app, it said 0 kg checked bags. I had to contact their customer service and got some mixed news. The person on the phone said we would get checked bags but the email customer service told us to check with United. Well, because I booked with United and I have an Explorer card, I get my first checked bag free, but United also told me to check with Turkish. All the confusion was causing unnecessary stress. I don't know about you but traveling internationally with just a carry-on is hard but not unheard of. I've done it but prefer to have the flexibility of checking my luggage. We ended up finding a direct flight from Istanbul to Los Angeles closer to our trip and I was able to refund and rebook. On my rebooked flight, we did confirm that their fine print changed and the flight would include checked bags. Whew! Fast forward to our actual flight from Istanbul to Los Angeles. We arrived at the airport around 5 am for our 8:35 am flight. The security took forever to get through. Since it is a Turkish Airlines hub, we proceeded to a Turkish Airlines desk for early flights and were redirected to a longer line to check our luggage. Mind you, there is no luggage drop off like there is in Los Angeles. You need to go to the counter to get your luggage travel tags. You also need to go through 2 layers of security just to get to the terminal, a passport check to drop off luggage, and an additional passport checks before you can board. Once on board, we were given a small Lacoste amenity kit with eye-mask, slippers, toothbrush, and toothpaste. The seats were comfortable for economy and we had 2 meals on our direct flight. The food was decent and I enjoyed it. We had huge overhead bin space and to be honest, I could have fit my carry-on suitcase in it but I ended up putting my backpack in there since I checked the suitcase. The entertainment screen was really nice and they provided headphones if you did not bring your own. I tried to get some sleep but I ended up playing a couple movies when I could not. The service was great as the flight attendants came around often. We were able to get wine or beer with our meals. We arrived at LAX without any delays. Our luggage arrived on the baggage carousel too so that was great. Turkish Airlines gets 4 stars in my book. read more
Not the best experience for me. Happy to have made it alive from Istanbul to Munich but the boarding and deboarding were extremely long and painful. Now I understand why boarding starts an hour before the flight. Be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait. The positive? My husband loved the super model flight attendants - very friendly and helpful. read more

Unless your location is on fire and you have no other option, please please avoid this airline. The employees are the worst batch I have ever seen, and if you're a black perosn, don't bother bookin. The racism you will experience will take you back to 1900. No direct way to contact customer support except filling a feedback form and they said they will get back to you in 7 days. Do not book them!!! You would rather pay an extra £200 and use other airlines that value their customers. read more

Also when arriving in Istanbul I ran to the other gate to find out it wasn't even possible to make the flight and then it cost me another 4 hours of waiting. Not worth it at all. That's most terrible and worst airport ever in Europe. People so rude and security is the worst I ever seen. Most of them just enjoyed to manipulate with you and humiliating specially with tourists from USA, or other countries. The worst thing they are having fun to insulting you. Turkish Airlines offers solid value overall -- competitive fares, responsive customer service, and surprisingly good in-flight meals (especially on outbound flights, thanks to Do&Co catering). That said, economy class is extremely tight, even by international standards. More frustratingly, I paid an extra $78 for a seat in a 2-seat row, only to be reassigned to a 3-seat row. When I asked for a refund, customer service refused, claiming the seats were "identical." Maybe from a pricing perspective, but certainly not from a passenger experience standpoint. It's disappointing to pay extra with no guarantee they'll honor the seat or provide a refund -- feels like a breach of trust. A good airline in many respects, but beware when paying for seat selections. read more
Airlines have gotten too big for their britches. Turkish has sadly joined the list, of cattle car travel. Istanbul airport is their stronghold. I get that, but it doesn't mean change times of flights on arrival, or making you run across the entire airport for a connecting flight. Have never been a fan of American passenger flights international, but sadly Turkish is them too now. Communication in person atrocious, their call center is very good. Facebook messenger don't waste your time. Flight to here on the Dreamliner or Screamliner was ok. Yet the seating configuration for a 10 hour flight is ridiculous. Other airlines are in the same price range, and they did zilch to help my son upon arrival for the connection but making us run. Flight attendants were friendly, food was pretty good. Yet due to several errors, next time another airline. I want Turkish Airlines to succeed, but as it stands nothing special. read more

Awful experience. They changed my itinerary two weeks before travel, making me miss my connection. Their solution was an overnight layover in Turkey, and they promised to provide a hotel for me and my 5-year-old. When we arrived, they refused the hotel, said it wasn't their fault, and even the airport hotel denied us. I had to pay out of pocket. The staff were incredibly rude--one even told me I "don't need to travel with Turkish Airlines again." Filed a complaint afterward and they denied it. Never again. read more

I had a 5-hour delay in Istanbul with multiple gate changes and absolutely no attempt at an explanation or apology from anyone. Everyone in the airport was rude and unhelpful. On the plane, the flight attendants were nice, but other than at the two meal times, in which they seemed incredibly stressed and rushed, they were very hands off. It was the least helpful business class travel I have ever experienced. My charger stopped working mid-flight, which meant a nearly dead phone when we landed. The only saving grace was that the plane was clean and modern, and the food was pretty good (plus the chef guy was friendly). I will go out of my way to avoid Turkish Airlines (and IST generally) in the future. read more

Both flights had a connection in Istanbul, Turkey. For the most part the flights were safe and arrived as scheduled. The check-in staff was very short and unprofessional. We had one check in staff that told us we were seated together, and than we discovered that we were in a row with other people. The flight attendants were very rude and short with their response towards the guests. Overall, we flew four long international flights over the past three weeks with this airlines. All the flights were very uncomfortable and this airlines filled every seat as well. On 2 of the 4 flights we had technical issues with our seats, either bad USB charger ports or seats that didn't recline. I'm very confident that we wouldn't fly the Turkish airlines in the future, simply based on the uncomfortable experiences of our recent flights. Its probably the worst ever airline, Im thankful we arrived and departed all our flights safely. read more
The best way I can make sense of my recent experiences (Bucharest-Istanbul round trip and Istanbul to Seattle) with Turkish Air, is in terms of multiple personalities, resulting in a somewhat schizophrenic (and rounded) 3 Star Average. PSYCHOTIC (1 Star) - Care Point desk at Istanbul Airport. I swear that the guy was smiling when he told me that my jacket left on the plane had to be retrieved in from Lost and Found in the Public Area, I would miss my business class flight, and they would offer no further assistance. Is "Care Point" an oxymoron? HORRIBLE (1 Star) - Going through Customs/Immigration in Bucharest. Long waits, confusing lines, inattentive agents, etc. The WORST. NOT SO GOOD (2 Stars) - A website that requires a lot of trial and error and both the confirmation and e-ticket numbers. - - Unresponsive Customer Service (Phone or Online). And I still haven't received my jacket back after being jerked around while following their directions to the letter. PRETTY GOOD (3 Stars) - Airport check In Agents at both Bucharest and Istanbul. Relatively friendly and flexible. - The agent at an Istanbul City office that helped us with baggage costs after we gave up on the phone and online. - Customs/Immigration (Istanbul Arrival). Long lines that moved and relatively friendly agents. - Departure gate personnel at both Bucharest and Istanbul. PLEASANT SURPRISE (4 Stars) - We flew round trip economy between Bucharest and Istanbul and were pleased with the cabin service (including food) and relative comfort. - Seamless flight transfer in Istanbul (Business Class Leg). PHENOMENAL (5 Stars) - Turkish Air Business Class Lounge. One of the best I've experienced. - Business Class service from Istanbul to Seattle. read more

We had a great experience on our Heathrow to Istanbul leg. Food is great. Boarding is complete chaos but you get used to it. We flew two domestic flights that arrived and departed in time. Our return to Heathrow was delayed due to crowded airspace in London. I would say that the only two things that keep it from a higher rating is the app is troubled. Clunky and needs some work. Struggled to get checked in for our return flights to LHR. The boarding process is a shitshow. Turks are rude and impatient and basically ignore normal cuing and just crowd in where ever they want. It's like that everywhere not just boarding. Food in every flight including domestic flights. Friendly service. On time departure and arrivals. read more
I have flown Turkish Airlines a few times and I have loved the food, service and comfort. Osman was our main flight attendant on the flight from Boston to Istanbul and he was just outstanding in terms of attention to detail and customer care. The food in Business Class was very good. I had the salmon for dinner and the omelette for breakfast. The wine selection was also very good. Once I landed in Istanbul, I enjoyed the layout of the Turkish Airlines concourses and gates. Hello my name is Roxanna Nadine Mayo and I flew Turkish airlines from Houston Texas on January 22. The flight was great. The food amazing, the staff were all wonderful! When I got here to Istanbul they couldn't find my bag, wheelchair, or sliding board. A young man that worked for Turkish airlines instructed me that he would push me in your wheelchair to look for my my bag, wheelchair and sliding board. I was so grateful and had planned on tipping him. We looked for hours and hours and finally went to a man and two women that were supposed to be in charge or supervisors, however they didn't give me their name. They were laughing and rolling their eyes the whole time that we explained what we are searching for. Finally exhausted and not knowing what else to do I got on social media. Immediately the people who said they were supervisors saw and they said here you go here's your bag your wheelchair and sliding board sorry. I looked at the guy that had been helping me look and he was looking at them in the eyes laughing. He wasn't trying to hide it either. He said "they were here the whole time" They started laughing all at the same time. Context clues would lead me to believe they had it the whole time and this was a game to them. I am paralyzed due to domestic violence after my ex threatened to hurt my child and I stepped in front of the bullet. I hurt a lot, and I needed to get to my ride. Of course after this nobody would help carry my bags and even threatened to steal my things if I didn't give them money. I was furious. Absolutely furious. I found the driver however so did the guy that was trying to pretend my bags were lost and then demanded money. So he spoke to that man and whatever he said wasn't good. That man was not happy and didn't want to give me a ride to the hotel. He did though. However on my trip back on January 27, I had already 48 hours prior signed up for wheelchair accessible assistance. However nobody would help me that worked there. My bag just stayed at the end of the conveyor belt until I could find a passenger willing to help me. Then the employees stopped then and told then they are not allowed to carry my bags for me. I'm in a wheelchair obviously. Some of them carried them anyway and the employees threatened those helpful people with police. I ended up going back and forth and it was verified with hugest services I did have wheelchair accessible assistance and she asked me why nobody was helping. I told her that's what I would like to know. She left and came back and said there's a new policy that you have to carry your own bags. Excuse me? I'm paralyzed. That didn't matter to her. We went back and forth with why and all she said is it's our new policy. Makes no sense at all. I could wheel myself but I couldn't do that and push the bag. I ended up missing my flight though I was hours early. She said I must purchase a new ticket. I'm no. Absolutely not. How then would I get my bags to the gate unless the policy changed again in the last 3 minutes. She said no. I would still have to carry my own bags. So while I tried to figure out a game plan I was in that airport 24 hours. Nobody would even help me out the airport. Strangely one medical clinic staff was able to pick up my bag without being stopped and they took me to their medical tourism place. I am now trying to make plans to leave. The lady told me she gave me a full refund but it only reflected $67 on an over $800 ticket. This is discrimination against the disabled as there was no other reason for all of this. I would like to get this resolved and get a full credit or full refund so that I can safely leave this country wi ty the assistance I will need and end up with all of my belongings. They don't give hotels if their flight is delayed or cancelled overnight - stay at airport or pay on your own. Non existent customer care - call center people lie and get you off phone without any resolution. They are liars, shame on them ! read more

I was impressed with this airline from check in to on-boarding. The onboard technology really impressed me. The food is the food, could have been far worse for 13 hours. One thing I didn't like was that they allowed children to run up and down the aisles w/o parents and people were allowed to stand in front of the emergency exit doors sometimes touching them. YIKES I liked that they displayed on the flight monitor when the next prayer time would be and what direction those that wanted to partake needed to face. LUV IT! Celebrate the differences. What I didn't like, although I was on the same flight flying the same miles, TK only provides me w/a snippet of mileage credits because I purchased an economy ticket! That seems very wrong! Did I not travel the same air miles? Probably in worse conditions that 1st class. So be careful and if miles are extremely important to you don't go the least expensive ticket! read more

Poor management. They don't honor their commitment to their customers. They will sell you a seat when you book your flight ticket. When you ready to check in, they will tell you the seat is no longer available to you due to operational reasons??? This is not the employees fault. It's management fault period. Also, they are unorganized at all. We had been traveling with so many different airlines. You paid for a seat, and you get it assigned to you when you check in the end of the story. read more
SO this was a much better flight than our San Frnacisco to Istambul leg. First and foremost we upgraded to business class after our less than ideal economy ordeal. It also was 3 hours versus 12. The food which is often dependent on the airport was good and the service was excellent. Our bags arrived on time as well. read more
I really thought I would enjoy flying Turkish air! First, we were quite delayed getting off the ground from IST and we were in a cramped area with little seating. In the air the experience was unremarkable. I couldn't eat the food due to a failure to properly mark for allergies and provide ingredient lists for the food. During the flight, a flight attendant was racing down the aisle and slammed very hard in to my arm. It caused my arm to hurt for the rest of the flight (about 2 hours left). I talked to the flight attendant when she came back and she took zero accountability. I wanted to know if there had been some type of emergency, which would explain her racing down the aisle the way she did. There wasn't. She didn't apologize, she didn't care. When I got to my hotel I had a bruise on the back of my arm approximately 2 inches across. It would have just been nice to have heard an apology. read more

The absolute worst, 100% unacceptable flying experience I've had in 60 years of international travel. First off, their website was chockablock with incorrect / contradictory instructions, would not let you proceed with various check in procedures it claimed to offer, and would repeatedly freeze / lock you out. Their janky, buggy, barely functional app was little better. Notifications, though turned on, did not arrive. The wifi on my flight out did not work at all. Others in group who had flown in on other TA flights shared parallel experiences regarding the website, app, and wifi. But it was my return flights that truly scraped the barrel's bottom. We sat on the tarmac for two hours. Why? Who knows; information was not forthcoming. During the flight, they turned off climate control for the final two hours, resulting in a mid-90s degree cabin, leaving all passengers sweaty, uncomfortable, and grumpy. As we were so delayed, I inquired of the fight crew before disembarking if they could find out the gate number of my connecting flight, and/or whether the flight would be held. They couldn't tell me the gate number, but they assured me of three things: A) the flight would be held, B) they knew I was coming, and C) there would be personnel waiting just inside the gate specifically to escort me to the proper gate. So. Inside the gate there were in fact two staff waiting, but not only did they provide no information whatsoever, and did not escort me as promised, but they made zero effort to assist me, and in fact barely even acknowledged my presence. They refused to even attempt to answer my questions as to my flight's status and gate number. They dismissed me with backhanded waves and said only "check board", a board which turned out to be 1/3rd of a mile through the airport. Lacking any other options I ran through the airport til fully drenched with sweat. Finally finding the flight info board, it contained no relevant info. As I continued my sprint all the way to the, ahem, "help" desk, I encountered no less than six TA employees, who, to a man, proved aloof, dismissive, and rude, with more handwaves of "check board". I informed each that having already done so, and discovering that no info was on the board, that this was the reason I was asking them, but they could not have cared less. Finally I arrived at the transfer desk. After waiting in line they claimed I needed to go to the economy transfer desk even though I was booked in business class. So I waited in a second line only to get to the desk and be told that I needed to go back to the first desk from which I had just come. When I insisted that under no circumstances was I going to be given the round robin treatment back & forth with no progress, they changed their tune about who could assist me. As I was beginning to explain what had happened and what I needed, the gentlemen kept interrupting me and would not let me finish one sentence. When I explained the obvious -- that he would be unable to find a solution without first understanding the problem, and outlining the complete lack of customer service I had received, he became amused and on the verge of giggling. I asked him what he thought was so humorous about this situation and he just laughed. Utterly unprofessional. It took twenty minutes for him to even locate any info on my connecting flight. I was at that desk for a total of two hours while he tried to figure out the difference between his head and a hole in the ground. He kept insisting that I was in economy and when I kept showing him the screenshot of my receipt he finally relented and said oh ok you must be right. Der-de-der-der. He really seemed like it was his first day on the job. He proceeded to tell me a number of things, each of which proved to be untrue and which he had to walk back. First he claimed the next earliest possible flight I could be on was more than two days away. Later he changed that to they could put me on a flight only one day away but I would not only be downgraded to economy but placed in the miserable center seat. I expressed that this was unacceptable, after which he proceeded to offer me no less than four different options. Each was a version of "fly through such and such city at such and such time and transfer and blah bloody blah" and each of these four offers I accepted, saying that's fine just put me on it it, after which another 5 minutes would pass and then he would say "I'm sorry I can't offer you that" and round & round we would go onto the next offer, which I would in turn accept, only to have him 5 minutes later say "I cannot offer you that". What new horror was this, seemingly intentionally designed to aggravate a customer? At this point in the proceedings I asked to speak to someone more senior, which he said he would go do, only to come back alone. He said that a manager could get me back into business class; this also never transpired. read more

I recently flew Turkish Airlines (to/from South Africa via Istanbul), and upon boarding my return flight TK33 IST - IAH and due to their gate security not recognizing my paperwork, I was denied entry onto my flight. Okay, so besides legalities as far as letting me on board even though USCIS confirmed my correct paperwork and Turkish Airlines refused to let me speak to a supervisor; i was treated horrifically, both by their ground staff and corporate office. No one knew who the hell to speak to as far as how their own offices, gates, officers etc worked. I was told I would be taken to the Turkish Airlines Lounge where I would have a computer and phone I could use and gather my thoughts and help, no. I was taken from one gate to the next for several hours, then taken in by security and held there for the next several hours. I was then told I had to go to the denied office and I would be assisted there, to which no assistance was available. They literally said when I asked if they knew who I could contact, "there is a phone and computer, google your help." I arrived at 5am, and left the airport that evening at 10:45pm after NO HELP from a single person at Turkish Airlines, it was just easier for them to send me from one person to the next and eventually leave me as is. I was treated like a damn convicted felon, not a valued customer. Unable to speak the language or them properly converse with me, they gave zero consideration for me and this predicament. When I asked instead of being held here in Turkey if they would fly me back to South Africa then, they said no. I was not allowed to leave. I tried to ask about booking a flight to Germany where my other citizenship is, and they told me they would not let me because my end destination was back in the United States. I am sorry but who the hell do these people think they are?? After finally being able to get money together to afford wifi, I then worked on trying to get accommodation close by, after being in the airport for a day and half, coffee shop for a day/night as I had no where to go and then finally find accommodation. I was left stranded for a week in Turkey, A WEEK with not knowing anyone there, not to mention thats a week of UNPAID "leave", where I was trying to work with the US Senate and them conversing with the Turkish Ambassador on getting me home. Finally when gathering my paperwork, Turkish airlines then refused to even honor the ticket they denied me entrance on, so I had to rush and find an extra $600, post $575 I had already paid to get an interview with the Embassy, and accommodation costs, as a part-time student, they simply emailed me with the audacity of speaking to me like an incompetent person. I am VERY sorry Turkish Airlines but, even though the flight experience was decent, with edible food, drink and entertainment, the manner in which you treat your customers is beyond appalling. I will never again fly your airline and I promise I will make sure that every network I am a part of and contacts I have, will know to never step foot on one of your planes in the future. read more

I've just had a worst customer service of my life!!! My flight number was TK009 from Istanbul to Los Angeles at 12:45 pm on April 5th 2016. And my gate number was 208. As Boarding was being announced ; on the monitor showed 2 different flight numbers were boarding. So I got confused and Approached the lady who was asking people to lineup. I asked her that which flight number they were boarding?! All of the sudden she gave me a nasty look and shout at me in front of everyone WHICH FLIGHT NUMBER? CAN'T YOU SEE!!!! I got shocked and told her what's with the attitude; I just asked a simple question!!!! She again looked at me with an attitude and turned her face without answering my question!!!! I tried to find out by asking from some of the passengers, And I saw her coming out of her booth to check passengers boarding passes group. She checked everyone and she purposely ignored me and rolled out her eyes and got back to her place. As old passengers and passengers with kids and some people getting board I thought since I paid for BUSINESS CLASS I could get on board too. As I approached her booth she gave me her nasty look again and told me it's not your group!!! I got fed up with her nonsense and disrespectful attitude which I didn't know the reason why, asked her what's her problem is and asked for her name and she removed her badge on the counter & hide it(Her name was FEYZAN SAHINLER) making me so angry that I called her idiot. And then she shouts back at me YOU ARE IDIOT!!! I told her I'm you're customer and she is here to answer questions too not to treat people like that!!! And then she start making mocking in front of everyone!!! As I was shaking, I've asked the staff who were standing there and watching the whole thing and not saying word, that I need to talk to a manager.One of them came forward and told me that there is no manager and I need to write a complaint letter!!! And then she started telling me something in Turkish which I told her I don't speak Turkish then again she start to mocking me!!! People were shocked but nobody would say anything since I guess they wanted to get on without any problem. Even Though they gave me they're phone numbers in case. I ended up crying getting on the plane. I have heard so many positive comments and been watching your ads on tv about Turkish Airlines that I decided to fly with your airline. Needless to say the way I was treated by your rude representative at the gate I'm extremely disgusted and disappointed at your airline. I do hope this is not the way you treat the passengers in daily basis as I reviewed more similar complains at your staff serving the gates. My suggestion is spend more money training and hiring the staff instead of wasting your money on advertising to bring new clients and then gets this so rude and unacceptable service. I do expect an explanation of the poor service I got in Istanbul with amount of money I paid for good seats and a great customer service all around that I never received. read more

Extremely Poor Service From Turkish Airlines: Refusing to Compensate for Flight Delays and Terrible Customer Support My wife and I had a flight (booking reference RT64EZ) from Helsinki to Ho Chi Minh City on July 20, 2024. The flight, TK1764, was scheduled to depart at 19:30, but due to unspecified issues--which Turkish Airlines later conveniently labeled as "adverse weather conditions"--our flight did not leave Finland until 22:04. As a result, we missed our connecting flight TK162 in Istanbul. This forced us to pay out of pocket for Turkish visas just to enter the country and reach the hotel that the airline arranged for us to stay in until our rescheduled flight the next day. After finally arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, we lodged a complaint with Turkish Airlines. We initially requested a refund for the two e-visas we were forced to purchase, a reasonable ask given the circumstances. However, Turkish Airlines responded by saying they would only refund my visa, and I would have to visit a Turkish Airlines sales office in my country to claim the money (!). They also demanded that we provide certified documents to prove our marriage in order for my wife--who was also a registered passenger on the flight--to receive her refund (?!). Despite complying with their absurd request, we then asked for appropriate compensation under the EC261/2004 regulation. Turkish Airlines outright refused to compensate us, repeatedly insisting they were "not obliged to pay compensation where flight disruption has been caused by events outside their control." This was despite the fact that we provided evidence showing there were no weather issues at the time of our flight's departure, and that the delay was actually due to technical problems with the aircraft. Instead of investigating the situation or providing any clarification, Turkish Airlines chose to shirk their responsibilities, blaming an issue that was clearly within their control and denying us the compensation we are rightfully owed. The way Turkish Airlines handled this situation was not just disappointing--it was infuriating and wholly unprofessional. It's shocking that an airline supposedly named "The Best Airline in Europe" at the Skytrax Awards would behave so dishonourably. This experience has left us both deeply dissatisfied and questioning the integrity of Turkish Airlines. read more

Pessimo servizio clienti Il nostro volo da Venezia a Nairobi prevedeva uno scalo di due ore ad Istanbul. Due settimane prima della partenza siamo stati avvisati che il volo Istanbul Nairobi era stato anticipato e che quindi avremmo avuto solo un'ora di scalo ma che ce l'avremmo fatta agevolmente (prima di confermare l'accettazione del cambio volo, abbiamo parlato con il customer service Turskish che ci ha dato conferma - spero che le telefonate siano registrate, oltre che ad una mail in cui ci confermavano che ce l'avremmo fatta). Come c'era da aspettarsi, il volo da Venezia ad Istanbul parte in ritardo. Scendiamo dall'aereo alle 18.05. Il volo per Nairobi sarebbe partito alle 18.40 ma già sul pannello compariva scritto "gate closed". Ci fiondiamo al gate e alle 18.15 siamo lì (ribadisco il volo sarebbe dovuto partire alle 18.40) ed il gate è effettivamente chiuso e l'aereo è anche già partito. Ci mandano ad un desk per assistenza clienti che non è quello corretto e lo scopriamo dopo 10 minuti di attesa grazie ad un'altra cliente che ci avvisa. Dopo per essere passati per 3 desk Turkish ( l'aeroporto Ataturk non è proprio piccolo... ) arriviamo a quello corretto dove in maniera assolutamente sgarbata ci avvisano che avremmo dovuto aspettare 24 ore per l'aereo successivo. Senza bagaglio. Ci danno comunque assistenza fornendoci un albergo e pensione completa. Ci chiedono se lo preferiamo vicino all'aeroporto o al centro di istanbul e chiediamo che sia il centro. Ci fanno salire su di un pulmino senza dirci dove stessimo andando e ci lasciano in un albergo vicino all'aeroporto ... senza se e senza ma, senza neanche l'accortezza di dire: ci spiace in centro era tutto full. Perdiamo 24 ore di vancaza, l'albergo prenotato a Nariobi, le varie visite etc. vacanza rovinata. Stiamo chiedendo il rimborso. Ce lo stanno negando. dicendo che abbiamo accettato di avere solo 1 ora di scalo: abbiamo accettato di avere 1 ora di scalo, vero. non abbiamo mai accettato di perdere la coincidenza. DO NOT FLY WITH TURKISH AIRLINES. If you want to have your luggage lost, recieve the worst customer service and be treated with disrespect fly with this airline and in addition to that they are RACIST. Turkish airlines is by far the worst airline. I have travelled with dozens of airlines but nothing can compare to the horrible experience i had. I lost a bag which had 12,000 dollar worth of items in it. Did anyone care? No ! I travelled from washington DC to amman and had a transit in ataturk airport on may 19 2015 (over a MONTH ago) and i reached amman with a missing bag(AMMTK31446). I went to the turkish airline office to report my issue no one helped me, they were RACIST, rude, disrespectful and didn't care at all about what i was going through. after asking to speak to the manager they told me he wasn't available and will contact me. He didnt. And once again i repeated this experience he still didn't contact me. I then contacted the free call center 080022347 where i was subjected to fraud and a lying scheme. A representative told me my bag was found and in jordan and that they would contact me, and when i call back another representative says there is no such thing and they have no idea where my bag is?! And if i ask to speak to the manager they hang up or act like they dun hear me. After that they told me you have to complain through our website, I have now 16 complaints number and no one contacted me about them. I also sent emails to their main office as they instructed me to do(BAT@THY.COM) and I always got an automatic replay from them whatever I wrote in the email, I get the same replay. So apparently the floor opened and swallowed my bag since they have no idea where it went. And to top this off i was told by turkish airline to buy items till my bag comes and they will pay the bill for me(TAZMINAT@THY.COM). And now they refuse to do so and i am stuck here without my clothes and items in addition to losing extra money.When I will go back to DC, I will consider suing this airline with every cent they have just like they made me suffer. I have very mixed feelings as I write this review. We flew business class from Houston to Geneva and returned from Paris to Houston. Both legs of the trip were via Istanbul. We decided to take advantage of Turkish Airlines' extended layover opportunity in Istanbul and planned a layover of around 24 hours to include an overnight hotel stay and a city tour. When we arrived at the airport in Houston, we were informed that our flight had been cancelled due to a mechanical issue and rescheduled for an hour later on the next day. No other option was offered to us. As a result, we lost the opportunity to see Istanbul. Other than that, the first leg of our trip was uneventful. On the Paris to Istanbul portion of the return leg, my wife left her brand new iPhone 17 Pro on the plane. We were unable to locate the phone until we arrived back in Houston. Turkish Airlines had it in its possession. We were given two options: 1) We could come back to Istanbul to pick it up or 2) we could send someone to Istanbul to pick it up for us. Could they Fedex it to me if I prepaid the charges? Nope. They don't provide that service. Could they send it to the Turkish Consulate General in Houston? Nope. Was there any option other than picking up the phone in Istanbul? No. The phone is not lost, so I guess I could file an insurance claim saying that it is stolen. That is really what I consider the situation to be, They have possession of my property and won't return it to me. That's the definition of theft, right? Every other part of our experience was really good. Service on the ground was great. In flight service was great. The food was great. Our seats were comfortable. The business class lounge in Istanbul is absolutely amazing. The best I have experienced. My learnings: 1) Keep your options open. Don't fly on an airline that has only one departure per day from your home airport. 2) If you fly Turkish Airlines, make sure you don't leave anything behind when you get off the plane because you are likely to not get it back. read more

My seat number was k6 and the seat has no cushion whatsoever, I had to stack pillows and blanket to prevent back pain Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working.
