Over the years, there have been changes, but the dining room for the most part remains the same. Big light and airy space, with massive picture windows looking out over Summit Lake, and it's a beautiful view. There's a cosy seating area right at the entrance with comfy couches to relax on. If you can get a window seat, it's well worth it. Swallows swerve by the window with mere inches to spare, catching insects on the wing, it's quite a sight while you wait for your food. It has a rustic, log cabin Alaskan feel, but the napkins are fabric, the glassware is nice, and servers are in uniform. The menu is hard backed so it feels sophisticated. I ordered coconut shrimp from the appetizers menu, which came with some kind of special dipping sauce, and I got some French fries on the side. Husband ordered the Garbage Grinder burger and a salad. The shrimp were ok, nothing special, the dipping sauce was based on orange marmalade - I didn't enjoy that at all. The fries were ok. His Garbage Grinder burger was insurmountable in the state it is presented, there is no way a normal person can fit that in their mouth. It must be 6/7 inches high. He had to remove some items to make it thin enough to get it in. Whilst I was eating, a couple were seated on the table behind us. I didn't think my chair was sticking out that far, but this woman, when being seated, kept whacking her chair into mine, forcing me to push my chair in really tightly, which I thought it was rude and inconsiderate, as a normal person would say "excuse me, could you pull your hair in a little" but she just kept battering my chair with hers until I moved. We were obviously in very close proximity, and I heard them say they were tourists, from out of state and had just got married, and would they comp the meal? This was prior to even ordering, and not because anything was wrong with the meal, just merely because they had a strong sense of rude entitlement. You got married, why are you entitled to a free dinner? It was irritating. But obviously not the fault of Summit Lake Lodge. Anyway the server promised to ask her manager. (Who refused to comp the meal, but did offer a discount) Anyway, it's a beautiful place, in a beautiful location, you're paying for an experience, not just the food - which is slightly above average. The service is impeccable, the views are stunning, and an influencer's dream. The menu used to have a lot more items on it, simpler things - I had my first ever Reuben here years ago and it was amazing, but you can't get it anymore. It seems to change annually. Anyway, it's definitely worth stopping in.

Smaller property with cabins situated right on Bear Creek.. you can hear the water when you open the window. Most of the cabins are smallish but there is a few bigger ones in the back of property that look really cool! Now, these are "Dry Cabins" meaning no bathroom or sink inside but they had a great "Wash Hut" with two spacious bathrooms that seemed to be almost brand new. Cabins really have almost everything you need... Microwave, Fridge, Electric Heat, Wood Burning Stove, even a fan! I found the cabin to be very well appointed and they have free firewood to burn as well as little things like a good lighter and Smores setups for late night munchies. The lodge area with coffee shop was very convenient and has good coffee. The restaurant is also right there and gets pretty busy as there's not many options in Hope for food. Would definitely recommend this joint!! PS- Nice shampoo in the wash hut Talk later?

This place was a great place to really enjoy nature and great place to stay. They also have a sweet collie named Scout she is the greeter. They have dry cabins so the washrooms are separated but allows friendly guests to interact. They also have a coffee shop in the lobby and very friendly staff members that helps you out. They also have a restaurant on property that has cool fire tables and good food. By the way Ester and Antwan were amazing. Overall will visit again next time in Alaska. Thanks again for having us.

If you even call it an establishment. They keep trying to bring me towels when I say "no thank you please no thank you" they just leave the door unlocked and walk away leaving me barn door wide open while I'm asleep door not even halfway locked. Their fucking insane for doing that to me. When I have been out here more than 5 nights now and they still can't even seem to do their jobs correctly no matter how long you stay here. It's absolute disregard for the customer just for the job entitlement. And they cant even give me my 20 nights stay money back pre-deposited even though they keep on accusing me of smoking marijuana although I do own a medical marijuana card I'm not even smoking any weed honest to God. And I just wanted to go to the Ramada inn way nicer hotel across the street from the government hill bridge. I can't even get my deposit back to go to the Ramada inn. For my 20 nights stay booked in advance at the bird Creek motel inn. I just wanted to stay in room # seven or nine. Where previously was a couple of nights ago, Before the cleaning lady lost her mind and accused me of smoking weed as another false accusation. I'm being held hostage in a different room now unable to get my money back and I do want to be in this room anymore.

The staff is helpful and friendly and it's the "hippest" hotel by far in all of Anchorage IMO and I've stayed in MOST of the Hilton hotels in Anchorage and the Captain Cook. The only downside of the Wildbirch is the noise -- it can be a little noisy downtown if you select a room facing 4th street. I'm a light sleeper and it wasn't TOO bad, but it wasn't quiet. They give you earplugs to drown out the noise. The rooms are really exceptional with lots of dimming capabilities for the various lights, super nice touches, nice coffee features, super cool/ cute / clean bathroom, the bed is top notch with super nice linens. Nice little coffee shop and super cool looking bar/restaurant. Anchorage has come a long way! All in all, I would stay again, as the hotel options in Anchorage are not very good, nor have they ever been good. It would be nice to have a machine to make some white noise to drown out the cars on 4th street -- I would give this place 5 stars! Nice addition to the hotel scene in Anchorage! Great location, great staff, reasonable prices.

It turns out that the two-block walk is up a steep hill, so we needed to wait about 15 minutes for a taxi because walking uphill with all our luggage was impossible. We ended up at the hotel at about 11pm and had an 8am flight the next morning, so all we wanted to do was get some sleep. We arrived at the hotel with a security guard standing by their luggage carts, watching us schlep our four rolling bags. He or nobody else offered to help. The check-in staff was efficient and friendly enough, recommending we take the far elevator because the closer one would involve steps. We walked the length of the hotel, about as long as the cruise ship, pushing a heavy luggage cart. The cart came within millimeters of hitting the smoke detectors on the low ceiling, an uncomfortable feeling like driving a minivan through a low parking garage. When we arrived at our room, we opened the door and there was somebody sleeping in it! More correctly, they were in the adjacent room and the connecting door between the two rooms was open. We closed the connecting door and found ourselves in a studio with a double sized murphy bed with a couch in front of it. We moved the couch, lowered the bed, found pillows on a shelf and tried to sleep. We ending up sleeping only about three hours. The air conditioning was very loud and we used towels from the bathroom as pillows because the pillows were far too thick to be comfortable. Now awake, we checked our reservation and saw that we had reserved a room with a king bed, not a double pullout bed. We called the front desk staff, who again was friendly enough, but there was no manager on duty so they said someone would call us back. We expect in the end we'll get back the points we used for this room as Hyatt Rewards members, but that's not going to make up for the very poor ending to an otherwise wonderful vacation.
