Where do I begin? I usually go to the TP in Princeton/Lawrence area, because they're closer, more efficient, and the customer service is excellent. However, yesterday, I went to the Newtown PA location, and it was not a great experience. There were plenty of clean tables both inside and outside which sat empty while the line of people waiting grew well outside the door. The incredibly dense young lady left to host alone didn't have a grip on her job, and we paid for it in wait times. We waited for about 40 minutes before being seated even after we reserved a table on the website. After we were seated, I watched as it took the hostess about an hour to seat 3 or 4 tables who came at or before us--tables which sat empty from the time I walked into the restaurant to check in. Overall, food was good. Food is usually good. Never complaining there. Nonetheless, I looked into the kitchen and saw my long-haired waiter helping prepare food with no gloves on and no hair net. We got out of there faster than a chicken fleeing a coup. read more

We stopped in the other day and sat at the counter for brunch. The staff was phenomenal. They couldn't do enough to get us settled in and comfortable. From getting the kids arts and crafts to actually stepping up and cutting my kids pancakes (!), I couldn't ask for more in terms of service. Absolutely wonderful. The food was, wow, not good. I got a vegetable omelette, and my kids went with a grilled cheese/home fry combo and the strawberry and chocolate pancakes. First, I got the wrong order, though it was quickly corrected. Upon first taste of the correct order, the omelette came off as really dry and surprisingly, some of the vegetables inside weren't even cooked. If I had known it was going to be a 33% raw broccoli omelette, I'd have ordered something else. I will say that the cappuccino was pretty good. For the kids food, the grilled cheese was about as basic as you can get. It looked very bready and very dry, though my kid did eat half of it. We requested the home fries be extra crispy, but they came out like typical bad diner, soggy home fries that were sitting around all morning. My kid ate them but it was more out of hunger than deliciousness. As for the pancakes, the bottoms were burnt on nearly all of then and my kid basically didn't want to eat it. When a kid refuses to eat a batch of pancakes (typically a favorite of hers) with strawberry, chocolate and whipped cream, you know it's awful. We offered her some of the grilled cheese and omelette and she tried them, but didn't like those either. Can't say I blame her. While this is an undeniably attractive spot with top notch service, the food is really sub par. I personally don't get all the rave reviews, but if people are enjoying, that's great. This was my favorite place to eat for years. I would go once or twice a month, however the past few times were disappointing to say the least. I thought I'd give it another try today. Unfortunately this was the worst experience yet! The place was dirty, staff was disengaged and the service was terrible. It took 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee, and I would understand if the place was packed, however it was only about 50% occupied and there were multiple staff just standing around. I was very impressed with the food here, it reminded me of hipster friendly brunch places in Philly. Large menu with a lot of creative dishes, both healthy and not so healthy but delicious they also have fresh pressed juices which I didn't try but will next time. The name on the Spring Menu breakfast was: "I Can't Believe They're Vegan Pancakes." Well, now I know that was just a bit of clever marketing, because after eating the nearly tasteless, dry, syrup sponges, I now fully believe they WERE vegan, and in a word, "boring." My high hopes were dashed by reality. But, I forgive Turning Point for misleading me, because everything else about their new facility in the Village @ Newtown Shopping Center, is first class. The room is sun filled, bright and airy, with high fanned ceilings, white walls, and copious amounts of glass, letting customers be part of any sunny day outside while they sup within. A definite country cottage vibe throughout. Service is uber friendly without being unctuous, and the $2.50 house brewed java comes with a insulted pitcher of coffee, mug, and small glass carafe of milk (upon request). More than enough for me. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the coffee operation in front of me, and the dining room activity through the backbar mirrors. The rest of the menu was appealing for both morning and afternoon meals, even if the prices reflected the cost of Newtown's newly discovered sophistication (falling into the category of be careful what you wish for). Turning Point, like its sibling nearby, Harvest, is the new order of things around here. Along with all the other restaurants already there, and those being planned (Chipotle, Iron Hill, Starbucks, Melt Shop, etc.), they will either become a sought after destination for fast casual dining, or a place to be avoided because of inadequate parking, and too much sameness. There is already talk of the center becoming a food court. It definitely feels like a gold rush around here, and it remains to be seen how deep and wide the rich vein goes. It will thrive for a while, but whether it becomes a permanent part of life or a ghost town, depends on changing tastes, the local economy and how well conceived the plans were at the start. read more

I've come here 5 times, and although I did like the food, the menu has gone through some changes, and this past time when I went last week and ordered for 2 adults and 1 child, the food was absurdly mediocre. I expected the food to be at least somewhat good, but I couldn't even say that food was good. The plate was so lackluster when it came out. Classic roll sammy w/ potatoes: just ok, something was wrong with the egg, my child wouldn't eat it, and the potatoes were very mediocre, we could've cooked better at home. Health Freak Combo: portions were really bad, and essentially just zucchini+broccoli inside an egg that was folded. The pancake was very dry (why is there no syrup? ) I thought it was pretty insulting paying $16 for this. Enlightened Omelete: Lackluster, was ok, but could've cooked better at home. I've gone to turning point in so many locations, but honestly I won't be going to them anymore. I'm a big fan of diners and brunch places, and Turning Point did not disappoint. Their Western Omelette was one of the best I've ever had. The decor is very tasteful and the place is well maintained. And you've got to love when they give you a full carafe of coffee! The kids loved their pancakes. The servers were a little green and inexperienced, but very pleasant. Prices were what you'd expect in Newtown. When the weather is nice, they have a nice outside patio where dogs are welcomed. They have some outdoor games on the lawn if there is a long line to get seated. We arrived on a Sunday at 9 and had no problem getting seated. We will be back again! Had a terrible experience here last weekend. I was hype that they were opening a Turning Point in my parent's area as I have been to a few other locations in the past and have loved them. A true let down that this one was lacking. Came on a Saturday morning via the virtual waitlist, which is clutch! Absolutely put yourself on that because it gets PACKED and allows you to bypass the line. I think our waiter was the problem as the service is my main issue, but also the food wasn't great either. I ordered an iced vanilla latte, but instead got an iced chai mocha...I didn't say anything cause it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't what I ordered? When our meals came out, everything was wrong and we had to send back two dishes that got mixed up, so 3/5 of our party was waiting for the other two to get their meal (which took 15 minutes), while their food was getting cold. My meal came back and was missing the fruit cup...shouldn't be called a fruit cup either as there are two grapes and a melon. Should be a called "comes with a single piece of fruit." After our meal, we waited probably 30-45 extra minutes just to get our check... 2 stars instead of 1 because this spot just opened and I am feeling generous. Probably won't be back as Harvest is right next door and has never disappointed me. read more

Was here recently for a late lunch. They close at 3pm, so we just about made it. With that said, the restaurant was packed - it is new after all! And a very welcome addition to Newtown breakfast places. Inside is open and light. Looks very similar to the one in Warrington, with light blue colored paint on the walls and white trim everywhere. The waiting area is rather small, but there is a large area outdoor that can be used for waiting. There is also a coffee bar, I assume it's first come first serve seating but can't be sure. The menu is also similar if not the same to the Warrington location. We had a classic Benedict, kids chicken tenders that were served with tortilla chips and salsa as well as a dish off of their "Winter special". It was called Sweet potato Siracha Hash and tasted absolutely amazing. Such a warm combination of sweet potatoes, caramelized onions and toasted walnuts. The siracha was not overpowering at all. Our food came out within minutes, to everyone's pleasant surprise. What we love about Turning Point, is that they really cater to families with kids. Their "kid Menu" is a booklet that contains all types of puzzles and games. The food is always good and portions are pretty large. The coffee is excellent! read more

Came with elderly family who can't be in cold weather. Waited for over an hour to be told, when being seated, that heaters were not working. Manager seemed to be convinced they had propane when they actually didn't. Refused to accommodate us inside when we informed them of our situation, and told us we had to wait another hour. Lack of communication, refusal to accommodate, and terrible customer service are what you can expect from Turning Point. read more

This place is FANTASTIC! I love the inventive menu options, the service is spectacular, the coffee is fantastic, and food comes pretty quickly. I've come here several times with my fiance and then also with my sister and nephew yesterday. My sister, who's a big breakfast person, said this is her new favorite spot. Yesterday we were told there'd be a 20-30 minute delay to be seated but the wait was actually probably closer to 10-15 minutes at most. Here's what we got yesterday and the reviews: Bacon lollipops - I've never seen "breakfast appetizers" before, but we thought we'd try these out. They're delicious! I'll attach a picture so you can see how neat they look. Waffles - My nephew finished his plate completely for probably the first time in his 5 year old life. He LOVED them. Veggie omelette - I asked for the veggie omelette with feta cheese instead of whatever it came with. It was delicious! Chicken sausage - This was just "OK", probably not something I'd order again, particularly given how filling the omelette is. Eggs Benedict - My fiance usually gets this and loves it. Yesterday was an off day as he said his egg was overcooked, but most of the time he thinks it's flawless. OMG French Toast - This was french toast w/ mascarpone (which I don't think was in there?), candied walnuts, and chopped bacon. My sister was quite happy with this. Service - The service here is always superb. Any substitution we ask for are always made. One time I mentioned I didn't want an English Muffin and the waitress offered me more potatoes or fruit. Coffee refills are fast and we get a pitcher of water at the table so we're never waiting. Everyone is always very friendly. The other thing I love about Turning Point is that it's in a great shopping center. When we finished our meal yesterday we walked over to Learning Express to pick up a toy for my nephew. Came here for a weekend trip and was taken to this place for brunch. Even though it was snowing we decided to take the trip out before we headed back to NY. Luckily we were not disappointed- we were seated right away and everyone was covid friendly. We all got hot chocolate or coffee and all were scrumptious. We shared the bacon lollipops for the table and omg so good! I never had candied bacon so I was skeptical but I was impressed. Finally our meals were very good - I got the huveos rancheros and it was so good and very filling. I was stuffed and still had plenty for leftovers. We decided to try this place out and I was not disappointed. I started with the Apple bacon lollipops that we all shared and it was a hit. I had the salted Carmel chino and oh my goodness! My mother and husband ordered the French toast and said it was good.. a little dry and expected it to have a little more going on. I ordered the g.o.a.t with a side salad and it was very good. Decent place. Very nice inside. Water glasses were dirty but replaced quickly when asked. The Avocado Smash Benny was decent, there is a lot of avocado though so be prepared. I got the Classic Pork Roll Sammy, asked for eggs medium not hard, they came hard anyway. The potatoes were not fully cooked, mediocre to be honest. My daughter said the iced lattee was fantastic. Beware their gift cards have an expiration date. I did not realize that when I purchase them. They are the only restaurant that will not honor cards after expiration date. Avocado toast wasn't really that good - so much we left several pieces on the plate. Avocado itself was fresh, had to douse it with more salt and pepper despite it saying on menu it was seasoned, tomatoes were kind of slimy but the toast wasn't really toasted. Lobster in the lobster Benny was bland as was the hollandaise sauce. Breakfast potatoes were hit or miss. Some potatoes tasted fresh others were hard like they were sitting in the hot lamp far too long. My daughters bacon and sausage was cooked way too or they were sitting under the hot lamp too long. Pancakes were okay. It was mildly busy but no wait at door (we got there before the breakfast rush) but we waited awhile for our food to come out. Service was good. I don't think I'd come back again nothing wow'd us. We thought it would because they seem to have an elevated menu but I honestly think I could of had a better meal at an IHOP which isn't saying a whole lot. So I think my 3 stars is rather generous. The layout of the restaurant is simple and clean. It's not too cluttered and during the day there's a lot of sunlight going into the room. I ordered the chicken and waffle and it was phenomenal. The only problem I had was that there wasn't enough of the gravy because it was absolutely amazing. I could probably scarf down a pound of that gravy just by itself. It went really well with both the pancake and the chicken. The portions are also pretty big so it's definitely worth the money. This was my first visit to Turning Point on Newtown PA. We were a party of 5 for lunch. The wait was a good 20 to 25 minutes. There are very few tables that seat 5 or more. I wanted a vegetarian entree so I ordered the veggie omelette. It was unimaginative, with zero taste. There were very few veggies in it and the cheese was just slapped on top. I asked for the greens on the side and that's all it was, a small mixture of lettuce green with dressing. This lunch was plain and boring. I don't see what all the fuss is over this place. read more

I ordered the "I can't believe it's vegan" pancakes, and although I was thankful for there being a vegan option, it wasn't THAAAAT interesting. I am so glad to have found this place. A great place to meet up with people; the noise level is just right that you can have a family/group brunch, or an intimate conversation with a friend. The service is great, too!! While you wait to get seated, you can start with a mug of coffee stationed at the counter. I love their coffee, but I just had to try their French press hazelnut coffee. I just wish there was a way to have kept the French press coffee hot as well as the regular which was kept in the thermos at the table. We ordered different dishes but shared most of it. The traditional eggs did not disappoint, but it was outshined by the KEY WEST SHRIMP omelette which we loved the best. With the Flight of the Pancakes we sampled three different kinds. We liked the plain the best, the middle adult liked the cinnamon. For some reason, the blueberry was ignored. My daughter who cannot have gluten picked the blueberries off of it. Lol. We also had avocado toasts; regular and gluten free. The avocados were a bit off, so we did not enjoy it as much as we expected. They sprinkle the season salt on the top so there is a bit of salt shock when you first bite into it.
