They also have buffalo mozzarella for those that are lactose free like my husband and it was incredible to be able to share a pizza with him and it was delicious. Saw this opening up around the corner from me for a few weeks and was so happy when I finally got to try it. So few authentic Italian pizzerias around Durham. We shocked our server by order 4 apps, 1 pizza and desert. The Caprese was excellent, perfectly seasoned. Banana-Zucchini soup was bizarrely good. The Caesar dressing was fabulous and the homemade croutons sinful. We decided to step outside our comfort and ordered the Rio Elba pizza- White pizza with pesto, potato and two cheeses! Different but very good combo. The crust was awesome. The offer by the slice as well, might have to snap one up for lunch on the go. Would highly recommend. My wife and I had dinner at Tuscan Wolf over the weekend, overall a positive experience. The food was great, we both love the thin crust pizza, and we were not disappointed. The only negative note was on table service. Our server was very nice, but towards the end of our meal she disappeared for an extended time. We were considering ordering another drink, we had run out of water, and were feeling that we had been left to our own devices for too long. Finally, a wood-fired pizza place close by, with a big menu to boot. We tried Tuscan Wolf through skip the dishes and so can't comment on the service or restaurant itself, but it was a fantastic first try. We had the Margherita, Calabrese and Paolino. It's made in the Italian style (duh) with thin crust, and isn't overloaded with toppings or sauce. The only slight disappointment is that the Margherita is actually more North American in that it has cheese all over, and more basil would've been great, but overall I highly recommend Tuscan Wolf. read more

My husband and I went there for Lunch on Valentine's Day. What we liked: The owner and the server were warm and friendly, they made us feel welcomed. The pizza was ok, not bad - I have eaten much better in the city. What we didn't like: Tables were dirty, we had to ask the server to clean it. Glass was dirty so I had to drink from the bottle. The overall look of the main floor was not clean, pile of dirty dishes and glasses where we were seating doesn't provide an appealing Trattoria atmosphere, like the ones you find in Italy. We don't know if they were having problems with the dishwasher but at least the dishes could have been brought inside the kitchen, or dealt with them in a different way. We started with the Cacio pere noci e miele (cheese, pears, walnuts with honey), which was fantastic. My wife was hoping to get the Carpaccio, but they were out unfortunately, so she settled on a Caprese salad. My son enjoyed a Amalfi Calzone and I had the Desiderio pizza, which was outstanding. Overall the food was excellent and the service was good. We sat in the upstairs dining room. For me the only issue was the extreme level of noise. I'm not sure if it had something to do with the acoustics in the room or with the crowd, but it was almost unbearable at times. I think I'll request a table downstairs for our next visit. read more

Was so excited to try this place. Here's the review for my dine in experience. *Host entry* My wife and I came in on friday night, and the restaurant seemed busy but had two tables open near the cashier. We stood at the foyer for 5-6 minites to try to get noticed but to our surprise, no eye contact from any of the 3 staff members serving customers. Not the best welcome but totally understand it's a busy night so we waived to the owner (looked like it) and he finally got us table. *Service* We then waited 10 min, for a hopeful server to come along, and take our order. Interestingly, preference and special treatment was visible for Italian speaking customers who immediately got seated, we're giving glasses of water and cutlery, and a drink menu and food menu. We had only been given menus on our table, no cutlery, no drink menu, no water. As soon as we were ready to order our pizzas, we patiently tried to wave a waitress down. One came over, and passed right by us, to serve the Italian speaking patrons who came in after us. I immediately said "Hi, actually we were here waiting for a while and we're hoping to also put our order in". She obliged. *Wait time* For the food we ordered two pizzas and two bottles of water, we waited about 50 mins for our food. They seem to focus on takeout customers, pickup customers, and skip the dishes driver over brick and mortar patrons. The Italian speaking customers next to us actually had to wait another 20 mins so 60 mins total for their pizzas. But the waitress seemed so apologetic to them and really said nothing to us for our wait. Once our food arrived we were given no pizza cutter or cutlerly and had to wait 5 mins for that as the waitress was busy. *Taste* Finally. Our food. It was all cheese pizza with basil and another with olives and sun dried tomatoes. They tasted really really good. Crispy and charred thin crust, great sauce, and tasty olive oil. *Overall* I still gave 15 percent tip, although I felt obligated to let the waitress know it wasn't the best experience. Its probably going to keep us from returning which is sad. At least 'a tavola bistro' restaurant is close by and they have 1st class service and wait staff and really great looking food. *Advice for the restaurant* One of your wait staff, a tall one doesn't do much or help out the younger one (our server). Try to enhance a mindset that patrons are patrons, no matter what language. I've tried pretty much every pizza restaurant in Durham Region, this place is terrible! 7/11 has better pizza. Pizza was way to salty. We did order pizza with capers, anchovies and black olives however there were no flavours of either anchovies or olives. The pizza had been drenched in caper juice, it seemed to be that when the cook put the toppings on the pizza he did not drain enough of the vinegar. The pizza was inedible, we did not finish and it made everyone feel sick afterwards. Save your tastebuds, stomach, and toilet from the assault we endured lol. Also, if you do decide to go, make sure to note they charge for every refill of pop and will not inform you. Overall, I recommend skipping this place. There are tons of options for authentic Italian wood fired pizza in Durham Region that's cooked in ovens imported from Italy. As aforementioned, do not go to Tuscan Wolf, we will never be back. This restaurant was highly recommended, and was pleasantly surprised it was honestly the best pasta I have ever eaten in my life!! No exaggeration! The owner/cook has only been in Durham for 5 years, he came straight from Italy and the texture of the pasta and the ama zing flavour of the sauce were phenomenal !! It's just another pizza place, nothing special. If you're ordering hot peppers, you have to be specific, because you'll end up with green bell pepper, apparently they DON'T know the difference and they end making you LOOK like you don't know what you're talking about. Bell peppers are a LOT bigger than Hot Banana peppers, if you're a chef you would know the difference! Whatever happened to 'customers are always right'? No apology received, this is after dropping the first order of pizza, then getting it wrong after making a 2nd pizza waited a whole hour. The rest of the group were finished eating at that point. Didn't even offer a free pizza or desert. The spicy oil was not spicy, just tasted like olive oil, that's it. I have ordered from Tuscan Wolf on Skip the Dishes twice now, both times the food was delicious. This says a lot in that I am pregnant and extremely picky about what I will eat at the moment. I love the Buffalo mozzarella pizza so much and I'm excited to try the pasta eventually. I lived in Florence, Italy for a year and this reminds me of the pizza there. The 2nd time ordering I asked for extra tomatoes on my pizza (again pregnancy cravings lol), and they hooked me up. Pretty sure this place is going to be a regular for my bf and I. Went for dinner on Saturday night. We had the Italian salad to start and I had Margarita pizza and my friend had the calzone pizza with prosciutto. All I can say dinner was absolutely delicious. Not very happy, went here with my family for Pizza and one of the waitresses (the owners girlfriend I think) spent 35 minutes loudly assaulting our table with their life story. I go out with my family to be with my family not to listen to the life story of someone who has only met someone at our table in passing. The food was fine but by the time we got to it, it was cold. I probably won't go back, and to be honest, the pizza is only ok, not "great" and not "fantastic". The restaurant was not busy but all the staff running around made it seem that way. Pizza is my favorite food! And along came Tuscan Wolf. I like to stay away from chains as much as possible, so this one caught my attention. Did I say, Pizza is my favorite food! But with age comes a stupid stomach, and over the last few years it's been impossible to find a pizza that doesn't make me regret it later. First comment, the owners. They actually seem to want to provide a different/better product. That must be true, because for the first time in years, I can eat pizza with no need for Tums. It must be the ingredient quality, because I get a very basic Calabrese pizza, (sauce, cheese, pepperoni and sausage). It tastes great, has amazing texture, (and almost seems healthy). A very solid 4 Star experience! Marco made us feel very welcome and ensured we understood the menu and all of the options. We ordered a variety of dishes and found the portion sizes big, and on par with our expectations for the pricing. We loved the bruschette (the fav dish for our table) the salads and the soup of the day. The one area we enjoyed, but paled a little with how great the first few dishes were, was the half pizza/half calzone (pepperoni). With all of the other dishes being so full of flavor, we were expecting to be thrilled with the pizza, but we felt it needed a little something more. The crust, cheese, and pepperoni were all great, so next time we'll experiment with other flavors to see if we find one more to our tastes. So glad my friend and I decided to try Tuscan Wolf Pizzeria! The owner Marco is as authentically Italian as his fare, and his enthusiasm and passion for what he cooks is inspirational.
