It sucks because kindercare has a great reputation and I want the best for my child but I do not want to have another interaction like that again with the director.

My toddler is always smiling on drop off with Janelle and Tracy. I have a demanding career in healthcare (what a time!!), and I know everyday they are so well taken care of and loved! The kids are thriving and LOVE coming to school. They are also so tired at the end of the day from the physical and educational stimulation that they sleep 12 hours straight (always helps!). I guess the only negative would be that the location might not be convenient for the work from home'rs, but I would recommend all my friends to this childcare without any hesitation, esp if it is convenient! I love the relationships the teachers have with their students. The teachers and office staff go above an beyond to touch-base and connect with families. Their classrooms are fun, lively and connected. I love the playroom, library and neighborhood walks, water play, arts/crafts/routines. Amazing daycare!

We have now been at Rainbows End 10 months and are still loving it. My daughter is 18 months old…read morenow. She has moved to the young toddler room and does very well with the kiddos. They go on daily buggy rides outside. They also have a tumble play room inside that the kids love. In the young toddler room the center provides breakfast and snack. You pack the lunch. Each child has a cubby to keep their extra clothes and diapers in. We were going to take my daughter out of daycare for the summer because my hubby is a school teacher. She just loves it so much and we didn't want to get her out of the routine so we just decreased the amount of days per week that she is there in the summer. We still receive a daily report of how much she ate, diaper changes, and what she did all day.

With my older daughter, we used another daycare in the area that was a constant source of stress for us - owner was late to open, consistently over ratio, revolving door of staff. Not at Bambinos. Everything with Bambinos has been professional and caring. Miss Donna, the owner, is a very lovely woman with a huge heart. We unexpectedly came into a bind for before and after care (and afternoon care for my 1/2 day kindergarten daughter) a week or so before school started this year. One call to Miss Donna and our problems were solved. The staff here really and truly love and care about the kids. One of our children was ill this week, and they took such good care of her until we could leave our jobs from downtown and come pick her up. They provide breakfast, lunch and two snacks. This is a relief to working parents that need one less thing to remember to do in the morning. The pre-k program had an adorable graduation. They also put on a Christmas program with the kids that will just melt your heart. The center is always neat and orderly. There are a wide variety of toys for the kids to play with, and they are always engaged in art and other activities. I cannot recommend Bambinos enough to any family looking for childcare in the South Fayette/Bridgeville area.

After lots and lots of research and so many phone calls, we chose Shady Lane School. The staff at Shady Lane are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. Drop off and pick up usually take us longer than I expect because my son wants to go around and visit different teachers and say hi to everyone. Everyone learned his name quickly and greets him warmly even when he's being grumpy. Whenever I have to talk to the administrative team, my son is thrilled to play at the large train table by the front desk. His teachers are so dedicated, and I think that is such a big part of why this school is special. Our family is big and complicated, but my son's teachers have gone out their way to learn names and faces. They offer positive encouragement and praise as well as boundaries and redirection. My son used to argue with me about going to school at his last learning center/childcare provider, but now he's always eager to get up and go. I am so thankful that we found Shady Lane, and I will certainly keep them in mind if/when we have another child.

They craft, you prepare your kids lunch, they take kids on short safe strolls in the neighborhood. No problem to start care there mid-fall and you dont have to pay for sept & half of october. They save your spot if they can. You can quit month by month (no two month full tuition penalty as with the JCC).

We had just moved into the city when we sent our younger son to Milestones. At the time we sent our older son to a local private school for Pre-K (thinking we needed to "get him in early"). In hindsight, he didn't need academic structure and rigor at age 4, he needed to feel secure, cared for and loved....knowing what I know now, I would have had him sent him to Milestones for one year of PreK while his little brother was in the 18 mo old group. For us Milestones gave us piece of mind everyday we dropped our son off...it truly felt like an extension of home!

My main complaint, which is absolutely still the case, is communication. We don't really hear many updates via email, even important ones like staff changes. We definitely got the email about the rates going up though! I'm still not sure why daycare is so expensive considering they don't pay their workers a living wage, which truly does make me sad. Most of the teachers have been great! There's a couple who I really loved and a couple who were less communicative and so I felt less comfortable with them. I clearly appreciate good communication. They're on the remind app, so that's good IF you get a teacher in your classroom who's good at sending you updates and messages, I do feel like it should be a requirement for every teacher to be active on here. I get their main job is to watch the kids, but radio silence for important things (like your kid getting bit) would be nice to know about. For those of you who are high tech there's no video feed or daily pics. I get the occasional group pic, but that's it. I do feel bad their outdoor play area seems so sad and barren. The sun beats down on it during the day which I don't think is good for teachers and kids. They claimed to be updating it this summer but so far I have seen nothing updated. The classrooms seem clean-ish. I feel like it's probably an uphill battle with dirty little kids, but it is by no means pristine or even well organized looking. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you're SUPER particular about the things I've mentioned this might not be the daycare for you. I will say I do at this point feel he's safe while he's there. I appreciate some of the very kind teachers who I felt truly cared for my son. I wish the communication would get better and the outdoor play area would be improved, but overall I'm okay with him being here. Sometimes I feel like if you're not rich and can't pay top dollar for fancy daycares, you have to weigh the good and bad for the more "affordable" options.

They are communicative and I completely trust them. The same women have been caring for my kids for 3+ years (with a few others sprinkled in). It's been great to not have staff turnover and consistent caregivers that I have grown to know and trust. It definitely has a homier, more family feel. Which I think is rare and I much prefer! I would recommend them highly!

The owner and employees of Chartiers St. Daycare are very passive aggressive and unprofessional…read more By passive aggressive, I mean that they were never willing to address our issues and just terminated us. In the cruel and highly unprofessional termination letter they snuck in our daughter's lunch box, among many other things, they said "How can you expect us to take care of your kids, when you don't?" This was even though we picked up our children and took them to the doctor, whenever they told us to. Almost always our children wouldn't have temperatures when we got home and this led us to ask questions because, as two working parents, this was affecting our livelihood. They also had us send our son to the pediatrician because they said he had thrush, but his pediatrician said it was just food on the roof of his mouth. They didn't like the doctor's finding and didn't trust the pediatrician's office anymore. Furthermore, they told our 3 year old daughter, who has asthmatic issues and frequently gets sick, that she got everyone at daycare sick, then they told us they didn't say that to her, but then told us she did get everyone sick after they gave us our termination letter. Finally, they terminated us knowing we both have full time jobs, no other daycare options, and another very complex, special needs child at home to take care of. Daycare is hard to come by, but unless you're ok with not being allowed to have an opinion and sending your children to passive aggressive, judgemental employees who can never be wrong, I wouldn't recommend this daycare.
