It is Nuremberg's Main market Square…read more Throughout the year it is mostly a farmer's market, but also has some local craft vendors and some food trucks/stands. You have your locals shopping for fresh produce and the tourists for souvenirs. In the wintertime, the entire place transforms into one of Germany's most famous Christkindl Markets. If you are there on opening day, you can watch the Christkindl stand high on a balcony of the Frauenkirche, she gives a speech and officially opens up the Christkindlmarket. During said market, you can purchase ay and all things German Christmas. From beautiful blown glass ornaments, to traditional Zwetschgenmaennle (little people made from dried prunes and other dried fruits). Don't forget to drink some Gluehwein, Germany's traditional hot mulled wine. It's sold on every corner of the market and the entire area smells like it. Year around main attractions besides the shopping would be the Frauenkirche on one side and the Schoenner Brunnen on the other end. The Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady), Gothic brick built around 1350 is famous for it's Maennleinlaufen at high noon every day. Some may feel it's not all that, but considering this clock was installed in 1509 and has been working ever since, well, I say that is impressive. It starts by the individual musicians playing their instruments and is followed by seven electors marching around Emperor Karl lV, each turns to the emperor to greet him. The Schoenner Brunnen originally built around 1390 is worth seeing by any means. It is surrounded by a wrought iron fence. Within this fence is a brass ring, which you must turn for good luck. Of course there is a legend that goes with this, but I'm not telling it here. The market place is also surrounded by various shops and restaurants. Produce vendors with fresh fruits and vegetables as well as a huge selection of dried fruits and some salami. Food vendors of assorted cuisines of sushi, gyros and Mediterranean food. Also many restaurants on the lined the outer perimeter. We shopped some and enjoyed some beer!

Mini golfing really isn't my world. Seriously, the lack of decent equipment and the amount of luck…read moreneeded just drives my golfer brain insane! However, mini golfing in the dark with fluorescent graffiti and 3d glasses is a whole different world. This place is best described as what I imagine alice in wonderland on acid looks like: vividly colourful walls with 3d figures painted onto them that really seem to lean towards you & courses that would make Salvador Dalí proud. The location is a big plus too, enough parking spaces and the best pulled pork & burgers in town next door? Nice! I'd probably take away one star for the lack of AC, but hey... those 3d murals are insane! P.s. Did you know mini golf is also known as "putt putt golf"? Who comes up with stuff like that...

Let me start off that we used to love this place. We came here last year with the kids from…read moreAmerica to go to Playmobil. The staff, amenities, play area outside and rooms were all great. Great location too, close to Playmobil. The female owner was especially nice to us during our stay. We decided to come back again this year and stay two (2) days. Again, the staff were great. Even the female owner recognized my wife from last year. We "borrowed" two (2) Playmobil sets that the front desk person gave us. She told us to return it once we leave. Long story short, the night before our check out there was a new desk person, a male. He ended up being the owner as well (husband). This male owner never acknowledged us as we were in and out of the hotel several times during that night and into the next day. He just sat at the desk and stared at the computer as we entered. So, the morning comes when we will depart and on our way to breakfast, my wife returns the 2 Playmobil sets to him. He comes up to my wife at breakfast and is basically yelling at her stating that there are pieces missing. Mind you, there was no checklist for items contained in those boxes and these are kids, they lose things. I even noticed several pieces missing too, but I paid no attention to it. Advice to the hotel, if you want to have an issue with who you lend these items to, then make a checklist. Anyway, I was upset that he talked to my wife that way, so I confronted him. He said he was going to call the police and I told him to go ahead. He then stated that we would have to pay 11.90 Euro for each of the sets. Bottom line, we got into a shouting match. This "owner" had to be held back by his wife and another employee there. The wife sincerely apologized after, but that was it for me. We went to look for the "missing" pieces, but never found them. The female owner also said we did not have to pay for the items. Anyway, if you want a great hotel for kids while at Playmobil, go here. But stay away from the male owner, as he has major issues. Unfortunately, not coming back here again, which is a shame because it was a great hotel.
