Great sandwich and pretty dang good friendly service as well. Can't say enough about the sandwich and how yummy the flavor was. The portion was HUGE! Ate half and was completely satisfied. Ordered the sandwich at the recommendation from a friend who lives in the area and he was spot on! Wish I would of ate here before but now I know. This is a bar as well so keep that in mind. Sometimes these are the best lunch venues!

For a visitor to the south side of Terre Haute, this place is kind of a ways away to get to, but well worth the drive. Local Trivia: Come to find out "Twiggy" was the nickname of one of the owners mother, thus where the name came from. Not really a dive bar, because it is actually clean and well decorated for a beer and pizza joint, this spot is a local gem. Judi our server was friendly, fun, personable and despite other reviews, was not slow and we did not experience bad service. I think the trick to overcoming slow service though is to not go when it is busy. We showed up at 4:45PM on a Friday, had a great experience, but by 6:00pm when we were leaving, the place was packed. We had sampled kind of an array of stuff from their menu, including a calzone, pizza, wings, Shock Top on tap and pretzel sticks. All food was served hot from the kitchen to our table in a timely manner. Kind of surprisingly, for my bar for pizza in a random spot on the east side of Terre Haute was low, the calzone and the pizza were exceptional. It is the dough! Go for the dough! The dough is the foundation that set the stage to our really great meal at Twiggy's. Their pizza dough and calzone dough (which is probably the same) is exceptional. You can tell that the dough was actual dough at some point and that the calzone shell and pizza crust were not some pre-done, frozen to thaw, bulk purchase item. It almost has a artisan taste, but it is fresh, soft, hot, tastes hand rolled out on a table-top taste and is delicious. Then add a bunch of cheese and veggies and you have one hell of a pizza. If it was a toss up, I would say the calzone was better than the pizza, only because when the veggies and meat are nestled into the pocket, they simply taste a little better. Their red pizza sauce is a bit sweet, which is not a favorite to many, but I enjoy. One of our pizzas was the special of the day (so ask for their specials!) was a baked chicken with butter and no red sauce, plus garlic and cheese and because the dough is so good, the pizza was a special treat. They have an indoor seating area, bar seating (which appears to be where the locals hold court and houses a full bar) and an outdoor area that is like a large screened in porch. Not sure going when this place is slammed and potentially service is slow is the way to go to enjoy this place, but I would absolutely enjoy consuming another meal from Twiggy's again.

Me enjoying your delicious food, with my dad.

It's dated in the best possible way: dim lighting, worn-in character, familiar faces, and that unmistakable local hangout atmosphere where regulars clearly outnumber first-timers. The highlight here is the Tweety Burger, and honestly, that's the reason to come. It reminded me immediately of the classic Midwest style you'd find at places like Minor-Dunn in Highland, Indiana. The patty is smashed thin and cooked flat on the grill, giving it those crispy edges and deep, savory flavor you only get from a well-seasoned griddle that's seen years of use. It tastes homemade--not engineered, not trendy, just a straightforward burger done right. You can tell they take their time with the food. Nothing feels rushed or mass-produced. The burger comes out hot, flavorful, and satisfying without trying to be gourmet or overcomplicated. No towering Instagram presentation--just a solid, honest burger that delivers exactly what you want from a local pub. Service matched the vibe perfectly. The staff were personable, welcoming, and genuinely friendly in that small-town way that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest stopping by a neighborhood spot. Charlie's isn't flashy. It's not modern. And if you're looking for upscale dining or trendy décor, this isn't the place. But if you want an authentic mom-and-pop tavern experience with a burger that locals clearly treat as a tradition, it's worth the stop. Best advice: stick with the Tweety Burger. Don't overthink the menu. Order it, enjoy the atmosphere, and experience a piece of local Terre Haute character. Not a destination restaurant--but absolutely a solid local classic you should try at least once.

It didn't take long for a server to say hello and get us our drinks. Food didn't take long. Mother in law like her fish and onion rings , she said they were good and not at all greasy. Husband liked his omelette and tater tots. I got the gravy and biscuits and a side of bacon. The gravy was good, not the best ever but good. The bacon was crispy and flavorful. Drinks were kept filled even though our server got slammed with a huge party that trickled in little by little. Prices were super reasonable, We'd do this again when in the area.

Not only are dogs allowed to dine inside, but they offer water bowls AND a good doggie dining menu! This is especially great when the weather is cold (or too warm!) There were no complaints from my pup as she downed her 'Lucky' meal. Our waiter, John, mentioned that all of the doggie dining menu options were actually named after the owners current dogs! Cute touch! Service was warm and attentive (thanks John!) and they were incredibly accommodating on our food substitutions since I don't eat meat. I was also excited to see that they had a good sized menu with a variety of options-- sandwiches, burgers, salads, appetizers, hot dogs, and desserts. I wouldn't say it's a full 'dinner' restaurant, but great tasting, fresh, AND flavorful meatless options which are great for vegans/vegetarians. They had dedicated parking, patio area, an upstairs (I'm sure is amazing in the summer!) and clean restrooms. I even noticed signage in the women's restroom that encouraged safety for 'Angel shots' in case anyone felt unsafe and needed to communicate safely with the bartender for a ride home or the police! They also have live events, music, and great drink specials. It's right on Indiana State University campus so it could be missed, but don't overlook this gem! -- 5/5 from this Pup Mom

I was so glad to see him be our server. He is genuinely nice and might be one of the more efficient servers I've ever seen. He quickly connects with his customers. I opted for their Mogger Salad but substitute the crumble cheese for shredded. I'm not a fan of blue cheese crumbles. Wife had chicken on rice with some very good mushroom sauce. Pretzel bites and beer cheese for appetizer and bread pudding shared for dessert. My wife discovered their beer cheese is excellent on baked potatoes. We joked with server that they need to have tat as a side option. He said he'd "promote" and also have a talk with manager/chef (Dalton?) We left very fulfilled!! The setting is always quiet and comfortable. But we go through mid-week. Weekends with winter sports and such can be a little more lively...if that's what you like. Kudos to them for 30 years. Good job.
