When operating a hamburger stand it need only serve up a good-to-great burger, good-to-great French fries and good-to- great milkshakes. Every other good-to-great item offered is a bonus. If the college-aged staff offer friendly and are conversationally coherent, that's service I appreciate. And finally, if the hamburger stand is squared away and super clean, that's all the ambiance this diner needs. Oh, Twin Pines' house sauce is noteworthy and well worth the 50 cent serving. Twin Pines at the time of our visit offered great burgers, French fries and malts, and the staff get a big endorsement from yours truly. When next we travel through Cle Elum we will make every effort to sup at Twin Pines Drive In and hope you will too. read more

I dunno how I I slept on this spot for so long buts it's officially on my radar . Twin pines is right off the exit after Cle elum, if you're headed eastbound from Seattle is the second exit. Great outdoor seating with cute, rustic by modern indoor ambiance. Food was amazing. Classic roadside diner grilled cheese on Texas toast hit the freaking spot. Not sure if they local source there meat but their burgers are phenomenal. The star of the show was the FRIES. Definitely not frozen, perfectly crisp, perfect amount of oil and seasoning. The staff there is nice, quick, and overall just seem really happy to be there. Parking lot, outdoor tables, indoor dining area, bathrooms and kitchen were all extremely clean to the eye. Stopped by on a road trip and it was surprisingly busy with a long line around the afternoon. It took around 20 minutes to get our food after ordering. We were kind of hoping for something fast but appreciated the ample seating in the front and back. There was also a line for the bathroom just be aware of that! The burger and the price wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad either. I think the fries and onion rings were pretty good and crispy though. The strawberry malt was good so I recommend trying some of their milkshakes or malts while you're here. read more

The food was very good. The burgers are cooked and seasoned well, the onions rings and fries we got were hot and crispy and the shakes and malts were delicious. There is lots of outdoor seating, both covered and uncovered. Now the bad. First, they are very, very slow. We waited almost 30 minutes for our food and though, as stated above, the food was very good, 30 minutes is too long to wait for burgers, fries and shakes. Second, they have only one restroom. It appears that they actually have two but one is "staff only." The line for the restroom was well over 15 minutes. At that point, they should have opened up the second restroom. Third, they charge .50 cents for sauces, which is annoying but not unheard of. But they consider ketchup a "sauce." I don't think I have ever seen a place charge for ketchup. We only found this through Yelp, or else we wouldn't have seen it. It's a pretty popular place from what we could see. The service was very friendly and went as quickly as they could. It took 20 minutes to get the food, but that was understandable considering how crowded it was. The burger was really good. The bread was very fresh. I'm picky about topping, so I didn't get much on it, but you can get several more toppings. The boat of fries was full, with more fries added to the bag. The fish was also very well seasoned, but it didn't come with any tartar sauce. My only complaint would be how they charge extra for all the sauces. They have a bunch of flavors of shakes to choose from. We got a black raspberry and peach shake. Both were thick and good. We lime how they come in Styrofoam cups. Incredible food well prepared! The service is great in this old time roadside Burger Joint! Reminds me of what it was like in the 50's and 60's. I get the single Cheeseburger with Bacon (No relish), a 16 oz Strawberry Shake and Fries! If you're on I 90 it's 2 minutes off the freeway just east of Cle Elam. Nothing like it in Seattle that I know of anymore! It is what it is, a very old building. Clean and well maintained. Lots of parking. Give it a try you won't be disappointed! read more

Had a work retreat in Chelan a couple weeks ago my friend and I swung in here on our way back to Seattle on a Friday afternoon. We didn't know what to expect. Definitely was worth the stop. I ordered Plain Burger w/Cheese and selected onions, mustard and lettuce as my three toppings. The onion rings and a banana peanut butter shake. I usually would just get a burger and rings or a burger and a shake. I would've split the rings with my friend but she wanted her own order. The two flavor shake cost extra but was worth it! Condiments for fries/onion rings are 50 cents a tub. I didn't get one but my friend got the fry sauce and enjoyed it. She had one of the special shake flavors which was a chai. You order at the window outside they call your number and you pick it up at the window just inside the door. Staff was friendly and patient as my friend likes to ask questions The burger was tasty and delicious. Onion rings had a hood coating and stayed on when eating them. The shakes were nice and think. The ambiance is a 50s sort of thing - room on the inside for about 20-25 people but lots of good seating outside in front and back. Kind of like a picnic atmosphere when the sun is out. Service with a smile as you order outside and then grab a seat inside or out. Had the best mushroom and Swiss cheese burger (which I rarely order) that I've ever had. We love to stop at this place on the way to camping and it's always delicious and fresh. We usually get burgers and fries and sometimes a good old shake. The burgers are all done well and the fries are crispy and delicious. I think the only little sticky point is all those little extra charges. Any sauce costs 50ct (ketchup, fries sauce, tartar), water costs 50ct... if I order fries, one sauce should be included, same goes for the tartar with the fish and chips. They got a big parking lot, which does fill up pretty good during busy times, but we've always found a spot. They got dog friendly outdoor seating in the picnic area, indoor seating with AC and more tables behind the building. read more

This place is the best burger spot to stop at when passing through Wenatchee mountains. Last year I visited 3 times and so far once this year. There burgers are the best. My favorite is their mushroom burger. Along with a banana chocolate milkshake. If you like dicks burgers you'll have to come try this place out. The staff is super friendly. You'll get a buzzer for when your food is ready. You can either eat inside which is really small about 15 people max or you can sit outside on the benches they have. It comes up pretty quickly on your way back from Leavenworth but I promise it's a good place to stop. This place has been in business for many many years and they know what they're doing when it comes to burgers fries and milkshakes. I got the burger with cheese and added mushrooms on top and it was so flavorful so yummy and delicious and the bun was super fluffy yet sturdy enough to hold everything. I absolutely loved the fries I thought they were super yummy they're thinner than most but they had such a good texture and crunch and we're salted perfectly. Of course we had to go for round two and get milkshakes and ice cream because what is the burger without milkshakes and ice cream. You can ask which flavors are real or syrup. I believe I got the boysenberry which was real and I was not disappointed. The pup very much enjoyed his ice cream and let me tell you for a small serving it was a lot of ice cream and the soft serve was really delicious it's just what you expect and want when you have a vanilla soft serve ice cream. We pass this place often and it usually has big lines. This time it was a short line so we decided to try it. I had the fish and chips which came with a huge amount of fires and two tunic pieces of fish. We ordered the fried green beans which also were not bad in size. However, the fries and beans extremely salty so much so we could not finish it. The cost was pretty high compared to other places like this. The service was great people were friendly. Ambience was a typical old style burger stand. We really can't understand why the lines. It has lots of choices for shakes which I imagine is what the lines are for during the summer. The fires were crispy and seasoned well. We had the onion rings as well in our group and they were good as well.
