Metro Central Transfer Station - Cleaning up

Metro Central Transfer Station

Northwest Industrial

As far as dumps go this one is pretty deluxe. Really clean (I know that seems unlikely--and indeed…read morethis doesn't include smells), and the staff here are super friendly and helpful. You drive up on a scale and they weigh your vehicle, then you drive into a massive building and dump your junk. They reweigh your vehicle and charge you based on the weight of crap you threw out. This isn't a "landfill". It's a processing station. From what I've seen watching their videos, Portland's solid waste is trucked out into the high desert somewhere and buried in a landfill. This transfer station works to pull out all of the recyclables before that happens. Remember to cover your load.

As a remodeler I go here all the time and I appreciate just about everything this place has to…read moreoffer - it's usually an efficient operation and my visits are painless. This review is really only to address the poor service of one employee - Charles (older, Black male) - who was working at my last visit. I pulled my vehicle and trailer quite far into the public entrance and waited a few minutes for someone to approach (there was no one visible). After a few minutes I looked around and to my left saw Charles sitting down in a chair - he looked to be texting on his phone. I yelled out "hello?" and he ever-so-slowly came over and proceeded to start the process (I had paperwork) so slowly without a greeting and in such a disinterested manner that I wondered if he had fallen asleep standing up. He turned a quick paperwork collection and inspection into a painfully long process where he barely moved. Felt like he was paying me back for disturbing his slumber. Maybe he can retire or find a place where he doesn't interact with paying customers?

Awful company. Awful people. Awful morales. Awful work quality. Awful environment. 0/5 if I couldread more

Rapid response bio clean is one of the worst companies that I have worked for. I worked at Rapid…read moreResponse for almost 2 years. They hire a bunch of drug addicts who they do nothing but screw with and run through the ringer while they are sober until they relapse, then cut them loose with a "random UA", while all of the supervisors that work there are coked out but don't get UA'd due to favoritism from their operations manager. If you complain about anything, they will target and harass you, until you quit, or until they finally fire you, and then they will lie to unemployment, so you don't get it. I have had multiple drivers, who they gave me who nod off, are obviously either A. Relapsed or B. going through withdrawals. It took me reporting that my driver almost hit a woman and her child, for them to finally let him go. On the private side, they had a driver, fall asleep at the wheel, who hit a parked car, in a parking lot, from the street, and the owner, Lance Hamel, gave him a brand new truck the day after, and let him go, 2 weeks later, after he did the same thing. They will rush you to get sites done, and even suggest provoking a fight, so you can get the cops involved, which in itself, is unethical. The operations manager, has intimate relations with multiple employees, and most of the business motion inside of the company, like raises, and promotions, are based off if you're friends with her, or friends with the employee that she is having relations with, you aren't getting anything. They play with your checks, with numerous people every pay day, having to go in, with missing hours. With their payroll lady, Nicole, who will give some excuse on why, with it either A. not getting fixed. or B. in rare occasion with all of the proof in front of them, they will fix it. Their so called HR, David and Nicole, both provoke fights, when it comes to situations that you are questioning them about. David originally came out saying I had to leave the property after I went in to get my last paystub from Nicole, which they did not put on my final check. Saying that 3 people have came in and said that I was causing a disturbance, and then later , on recording, said 30. If I could give them a 0/5, I would. I suggest you save your time and your money. And invest into a different Bio Clean company, so that their contract, can be taken over, by more ethical human beings. If you are looking for more professionalism, better work quality, and a friendlier interaction, while actually dealing with, whether its a family death, or getting rid of hoarding, look into Bio-One, or another company. This company is nothing but dysfunctional to work for, and deal with while not working for. From their owner Lance Hamel, who thinks addiction, is a life choice, to their operations manager, who abuses power of position, to their HR, who instigates fights, and is obviously not certified to be in any HR position. They are all terrible.

I pay a premium for service, yet my recyclables were not completely emptied. I was initially told…read morethe driver would return the same day to pick up what was missed, but no one showed up. I called the next morning and was told it was scheduled for that day and that the driver would arrive no later than 6 PM. Again, nobody came. I was then told they would come on the third day as well. By the end of the third day, after still seeing no driver, I had to call again to ask if anyone was actually coming. That's when I was finally told my pickup had been moved to the following week for a double pickup, something nobody had informed me about. I was repeatedly told "the next day" and continuously misled, while receiving no communication, updates, or follow-through. The biggest issue here is the lack of communication and accountability. If plans change, customers should be informed instead of having to repeatedly call for answers. This company seriously needs to improve its customer service and communication.

Ordered a dumpster, via phone and agreed to a 3' tall dumpster. (Rep did not mention any sizing…read morevariations to the dumpster we were ordering, so we believed we'd receive one approx 3' tall). Dumpster shows up and is closer to 6' tall. We call customer service, the rep is rude and argumentative. She explained we're getting the EXACT volume we had asked for even though the height varies, and she doesn't know why we're upset. She tells us over and over, "you can open the doors and walk in the back." We're upset because it's hard for me to step UP due to an injury and we had hoped we would be able to slide things over the low side. We ask to speak to a supervisor and she asks why. Why? Because we're not getting anywhere with your awful attitude. A supervisor gets on the line and apologizes profusely (not condescendingly or insincere like the previous rep. She asks what we think should be done, and we ask if there's any credit we can have applied because it was a bigger purchase and we didn't get what we asked for. She said they don't do credits. At all. She explains the dumpster sizing varies as they purchase from different manufacturers so they are unable to guarantee exact sizing. That right there would have been good to know when we reserved/ordered it in the first place because it would have allowed for a more informed decision based on our needs. Overall, not happy with the customer service. The dumpster worked (I was unable to help due to the climbing in, so it took our help longer than we had originally anticipated-- but still got the job done). If you need a dumpster or junk removal-- shop around for other vendors or keep in mind what you order from WM might not be exactly what you're looking for (and that their customer service isn't great).

But then, several days later, they called and apologized that they had not ordered the part. Finally, they ordered it. But they did not schedule the visit to install the new part, even though they knew when it was supposed to arrive. Once it arrived, they told us it would be 8 days until they could come out. But then, on the day they were supposed to install the new part, they called and said the part was damaged and that we would have to start all over again.
