In town for work and twist is close to my hotel, was not disappointed. The set up is different from what I am used to but I loved the colors and mood lighting. The was class was a one hour heated - intense stretch mini flow, a good mix that got my heart racing with just the right amount of sweat! The instructor did start out with a little "life lesson" message about the ego - thought it was a bit strange but it was good message. The most important thing when visiting other studios for me, is How I feel when I leave, I felt happy and like I was meant to attend the class(ego message) - a great stop on my yoga journey! I first went to Twist for their beginners series. I had about six months of experience doing yoga but didn't know if I was doing all of the poses correctly and this class sounded like a great way to learn. I loved it. It is a series of eight classes over four weeks where the instructors really go through the poses with you and they answer any questions you may have. Although I was used to doing yoga in a warm studio, they also help acclimate you if you are new to it. (They keep it in the 80s during a regular class.) Ever since then, I've been going about 2-3 times a week for the past 10 months. The studio is bright, airy and clean. The instructors are friendly and caring and really encourage you to do the class at your own level and offer modifications. There are people of all ages and levels in the classes and the instructors are always willing to help you after class and go over a pose with you. I've been going to Twist since 2009 and consider it my "home studio". The classes I enjoy the most are with Julie Wright and Tara Munroe. Julie's classes are powerful, both physically and "soulfully," as Julie always weaves in a beautiful message based on traditional yogic teachings and applies it in a meaningful and relevant way to meet current day challenges. She's funky and raw, messy and present and keeps it real real! Love Julie! Tara offers her own unique way of teaching, throwing in lots of surprises. Get your zen on here, but also make some friends! I was nervous to leave my beloved studio, but recently moved and the drive was just too long. The owner suggested I try this place and I found a familiar face in Julie, one of the instructors. I have tried various instructors and have enjoyed all of them! The flow is the right pace for all involved and there is a focus on making sure each level of yogi has what he/she needs. As for the other patrons, they have all been welcoming and nice! I normally really enjoy Twist, but lately they have been extremely crowded. I cant even complete the moves without hitting the person in the face next to me. Whats the point? Yoga shouldn't feel like a jam packed chaotic cattle call. It should be relaxing and spacious where stretching is possible. They need to add more classes or limit the number of students per class. 1 year ago I would recommend this place. Today I wouldn't. read more

Small, clean studio. There is a changing area in the front to change while there is a class going on. There are more in the back once the studio opens up between classes, along with bathroom. They are very strict about no shoes in the studio, which makes for a nice, clean space. They provide all props, mats and towels so you really dont need to bring anything. The studio is set up shotgun style with mirrors along one long wall. The classes are taught exceptionally well, and are smaller than most, so you get a semi-private, focused experience. read more

I give the instructors five stars, each of the regular ones are wonderful. Each instructor brings something unique to the practice. And, there seems to be a teacher/level for any interest/ability. Seriously, each of the regular teachers, seem to love what they do, are passionate about it, and it carries into their class, for a wonderful and thoughtful practice. However, the studio itself leaves a lot to be desired. It is small and some classes are too crowded. (It is hard to stretch and do poses, when you are hitting the person next to you, or kicking the person behind you). The studio is in a tired old strip mall, that is literally-littered with trash... and the parking is tight. The studio is dark, with low ceilings and no air circulation....with the classes being at 85 degrees, it can be quite stifling and hard to breathe, (especially when the ceiling fans are not turned on). There is only one room and it is NOT cleaned between classes, so it is not uncommmon to slip on someone else's sweat from the previous class. This doesn't seem very sanitary to me. Likewise, when the blankets are used, they are returned to the shelves for the next class.... when are those things ever laundered? Unfortunately, it is not an inviting space...and, were it not for the excellent teachers, I would seek out a different place to practice. I would suggest to the proprietors of this business, to invest in the physical building a bit more, make it a more inviting space, maybe a better location, bigger room....maybe a wall of windows that would open to the outside...higher ceilings and definitely some type of ventilation system....as well as a more thorough cleaning of the space and equipment. read more

Attended a few classes here awhile back and I really enjoyed them. All the instructors were friendly and the location is about 2 minutes away from my home. I haven't been able to return due to my budget but Twist will randomly send me emails with specials. If your located in North Dallas, Twist is definitely worth a visit! read more

Twist is a fantastic studio to practice at! This is definitely my new yoga home in Dallas. I have found that the teachers are knowledgeable and very friendly. Amy and Julie specifically both offer challenging and well-sequenced classes. What I really enjoy is that every teacher lets their individual personality show in their class, I appreciate anyone who can make me laugh while holding side plank! The studio is well equipped with plenty of towels, rugs, blocks, and mats for students to use with no rental fee. There are cubbies to store your belongings. The back room has a shower, bathrooms, and a small sink specifically for filtered drinking water. I appreciate that the door is locked once class starts as people showing up late is my personal yoga pet peeve (it's disruptive). Contrary to what another reviewer has stated, this does not seem like a safety concern as there is a well marked exit door in the back of the studio. There is also a small boutique in the studio with cute clothes that seem like good quality as well as Manduka mats. read more

I love this studio. I pretty much started my yoga practice here, about 5 yrs ago. I only knew a few basic moves. The instructors were so kind, helpful and encouraging to me as a "newbie" and I really grew in my practice with them. The studio itself is relaxing and clean. I went to Twist Power Yoga for their Free Yoga Day that was offered on Labor Day. Me and some friends took a power yoga class there in the evening. The staff here is very friendly, and make you feel a part of the studio the moment you walk in. Even though I hadn't registered earlier in the day to take the free class, they were still very welcoming and had me sign their health waiver. They also offered us cold bottled water, towels, and they have extra mats if you do not bring your own. The studio room was very warm, perfect for an invigorating yoga experience. By the time the class was over we were all happy and sweating buckets. It happened to be their 2nd yr anniversary as well so they offered us refreshments after the class. It was a great time and I am looking forward to checking out one of their 6 am classes they are offering right now for the entire month of September for free on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. read more

It really pains me to write this review about Twist; it was one of my favorite studios. Until last month. A few weeks ago on a Saturday, someone swapped out their old fuggly, Ugg boots for my new Ugg boots. They were the same size, but not mine. I stayed in the classroom longer after class was over to visit with a friend and when I walked out, there were only a few student's left. And only one pair of Ugg boots; I immediately recognized that they were not mine. When I put them on, I knew they were not mine. I mentioned this to the instructor and she wrote down my name and said that someone would send out a note to the students. I walked out of the studio barefoot because I was so grossed out about wearing someone else's boots. Later that week on Thursday, I went to class and mentioned the incident to someone who said she was a manager. They took my information down and she said she would send an email out the next day. The next night I went back and mentioned it again to one of the instructors and he said he would send a note to the managers about it. Finally, the following Wednesday someone sent an email out to the class asking people to "Check You Uggs". I sent a reply asking if they had heard anything and the reply was no, just lots of jokes. Well this is no joke to me. Someone stole my property at their studio and I'm really disappointed in the response. And the subsequent times I've been to class there, all I can think about is how my boots were stolen; it's totally ruined my yoga experience at that studio. read more

Twist Power Yoga is a really nice studio and i would've stayed with them if it wasn't so far away from me. It's kind of in an interesting location (outskirts of Addision) and the instructors are really nice, they have clean locker rooms albeit kind of small but they have clean showers. read more

I've attended various Gentle Yoga classes during both of my pregnancies, and I've really enjoyed all the instructors. They do a good job at having a fairly good variety of classes for only having one studio. read more

The studio was nice, small - as it only has 1 room, but very clean. They do have extra mats and towels for everyone. I will say of the half dozen yoga places over the decades, this one seemed authentic, yet modern in so far as instruction in a modern setting. Serious but pleasant and informative. The Good: The instructors are excellent; engaging, kind, helpful, instructive, etc... The Bad: Some classes are way too crowded. Saturday's class at 10 am, had too many people; it was hard to do basic poses without bumping your neighbor. And, I assume legally, they are way beyond what the Fire Code Enforcement would allow in such a small space. Further, the space is not very clean. As soon as one class is finished, another one enters the room. The floor is not cleaned, or mopped between classes, and yes, I have slipped on the floor in other people's sweat! I assume this is a health code violation for gyms? The Ugly: The studio is in a tired old strip mall. Early morning and late night classes give me a bit of a concern walking to and from my car. The parking lot is littered with trash. The parking spaces are cramped, etc... Conclusion: With the superior instructors, this place could be exceptional if it was in a better, cleaner, larger and safer facility, (although the North Dallas/inside the loop location is convenient) read more

I was in Dallas for work last week and took two classes at Twist. Great studio, and I found the instructors (both for 8:30 am classes) very knowledgeable and helpful. For an hour long class, they really pack a lot in. It is an appropriately vigorous class with modifications to increase or decrease the difficulty of the pose. They have mats and towels available free of charge (appreciated by business travelers!), and the drop in rate is very reasonable. One note (and I know they are trying to rectify this), but iphone maps put you about a mile south of their actual location. They are at Forest and Marsh, not Walnut Hill and Marsh. read more

Twist Power Yoga is a terrific yoga studio. The space is warm and welcoming with plenty of room to spread out. Unlike some studios, Twist emanates the spirit of yoga with a non-judgmental, down-to-earth air that lets students stretch, reach, fall, and laugh when they do. It is easy to get self-conscious in see-and-be-seen studios which hinders one's practice. Twist encourages the essence of yoga - accept where you are while reaching for new spaces. The instructors are excellent and there are several different styles to choose from. I love that they offer mats and towels without an extra charge; there are even quality sundries in the shower. I absolutely love this place! They had a great new student deal that I took advantage of and I'm glad I did! I've gone several times and have had a great experience each time. It offers classes that challenge me, but are definitely enjoyable too. They also provide them at different times throughout the day so it's easy for me to find a class I can go to. I feel wonderful afterwards. It's a beautiful studio too - and really nice instructors! I will be coming back regularly. read more
