My friend told me that the upgraded this ride and now it's much smoother and I said, "YEAH RIGHT!" The last time I visited Six Flags, I heard a son tell his father, "Let's go on Colossus!" and his dad replied, "You mean spine crusher?!" I burst out laughing because it was true! I have horrible memories of my spine being crushed by the end of that ride. Rode the new version and it's now in my top five rides at Six Flags. It is much smoother and fast and I enjoyed most of it, but wish it was a little shorter. If you love long rides, Twisted Colossus is for you. read more

If you want a wild ride this is made for you. The ride feature is two tracks and you get to go around the track twice, some more bang for your buck! Originally this was just a wood ride, but it's been re-created into an RMC coaster. There's lots of airtime in versions and different features that make this ride unique. Now, Twisted Colossus is an RMC hybrid recreation. Where they take an old busted Wooden Coaster and turn it into a fantastic steel coaster. Now I loved the original Colossus and thought it was a great ride. But Twisted Colossus is so good that it more than makes up the loss of the original one and i'm glad that it got RMC'd Because yeah, Twisted Colossus is not only one of the best coasters in the park, but it's one of the best coasters in the WORLD! It's THAT GOOD! I mean, just look at the reviews, EVERYONE loves this coaster. Even the people who claim that it's overrated agree that it's still one of the strongest coasters out there. With that said, it shouldn't come as a surprise that this is one of the best coasters that I have ridden. So let's not waste any more time and ride this thing! Once you pull down the restraints to a comfortable position where you can get plenty of airtime (I'd say give yourself about an inch or two of leg room), your off! You then hit a small launch and cross over this small hills and twists which does give you some decent airtime. And if you think that airtime was cool. Imagine the ride at full speed! OH, THIS IS GONNA BE GOOD! We then climb up the lift hill where we may or may not encounter another train. If we do, we then start arguing about why we're the better coaster train and why they suck, why? WELL WE'RE RACING DARN IT! WE NEED TO BE OVERCOMPETATIVE!!! If not, well you get a nice view of all of the other coasters in the park! After that, you hit the first drop. And you get YANKED over it which provides some incredible airtime. We then hit a small bunny hill which YANKS us out of our seat. Holy crap! Such a small hill should not be so violent! But it is and it's AWESOME! We then rise up a hill, get some more airtime before we twist into the Hi Five Element. This moment is great and it gives us some nice airtime and gives us some nice G's. We then twist and drop into the massive support structure where then hit two back to back airtime hills that provide some NICE airtime. The 2nd hill though is RIGHT underneath the green side which is going through the top gun stall inversion (We'll get back to this element later). Wee then head into a 0 g roll, and I gotta admit, this is BY FAR the best 0 G Roll I've ever experienced on a coaster (And I have ridden coasters such as Kumba, Montu and Hulk), we get WHIPPED through it on top of getting the illusion that we're gonna fall out! We then hit some more crazy banked turns and airtime hills (Including an awesome double up) which VIOLENTLY throws us around through the airtime hills. And no, it's not painful. It's just AWESOME! We then hit the MCBR as the other side goes into the station (WOW! THEY FORFEITED! WE WON!!!!) We then climb up the 2nd lifthill hoping to find some new enemies to toy with. If we get them, we shake hands and delcare ourselves as enemies like before, if not. Enjoy the view. After climbing the lifthill, we then hit the same godlike first drop as before, as well as that ridiculous airtime hill and the top hat. We then head down the two best moments on this fantastic coaster, and on any coaster in general. The double down which provides some INSANE airtime on the way down. And the Top Gun Stall that I mention earlier. OH... MY.... GOD..... THIS IS INSANE. WE ARE JUST YANKED UPISDE DOWN WHILE ALSO GETTING SOME CRAZY EJECTOR AIRTIME. Seriously, this element is insane. Easily the best element on this coaster and one of the best inversions in the world. Following this, we go under the zero g roll on an off axis airtime hill following a double up and more airtime hills, which are just as violent as ever before heading into the MCBR. So yeah, we DQ'd. But we're out of breath and we just experienced something incredible, who cares about coaster racing anymore. So yeah, Twisted Colossus really is insane. There's a reason why this was my favorite coaster for 4 years up until I recently changed my mind with X2 at the same park. And even then, I'm currently going back and forth as to which ride is better. Although at the end of the day, both rides are insane so it doesn't matter which one is better. I loved the original Colossus, but RMCing it to transform it into this was one of the best things to ever happen to this park. I seriously cannot think of any flaws with this ride. It's that good. Twisted Colossus is now my favorite RMC hybrid coaster. I was already a huge fan of The New Texas Giant at Over Texas and Twisted Cyclone at Over Georgia, but Twisted Colossus is just on a whole new level. You would think it's a racing coaster just by the looks of it, but it is actually one coaster that goes up two hills during the ride, so double the fun! I guess if they dispatch the trains in perfect timing, you could dual at one point but it looks like that isn't their primary objective. Just like any RMC-hybrid coaster, Twisted Colossus used to be just a wooden roller coaster until it got its makeover. It's extra fun because of the fact that you're kinda getting two coasters in with one ride, and you won't know about it UNTIL you get on the ride. It was definitely a sweet surprise and I enjoyed every moment of it. Definitely not the most "thrilling" ride in the park, but RMC hybrids are just so unique and provide an experience of its own. I can not believe I have not done a review on this ride. Definitely one of my favorites in the park. They usually run 2 to 3 cars so the line moves quickly. Wait time varies from 30 minutes to 90 minutes on a busy day and if you go on an non busy day walk on. The ride was gotton rough over the years though but lots of ejector air time and great racing if the ride ops time the launch correctly. But it is a long ride but fun. Super fun mid/high thrill coaster! It's a dualing coaster and you get to ride both sides each time. Even though its relatively small, the first drops on both sides are super intense. Then it's mostly airtime city for the rest of the ride with a few positive G moments. No loops but lots of high speed banks. Plus it's totally smooth. And most of all, it is super fun. Twisted tracks of metal and wood combined to make an amazing hybrid coaster of wood and metal! Alright I loved Colossus the original one forwards backwards it was just an awesome coaster all around but when I found out what they intended on doing to it I was just stoked as it definitely needed an upgrade! The ride itself is insanely smooth and just an all around awesome experience. Once you pull out of the station your curve a little corner and then hit the bumpy track where it sends you down what I would call a rocky road until you hit the famous lift hill. Once at the lift hill and if you had good ride ops you will see another train not too far ahead of you, your train will gradually speed up to catch them and then once to the top of the hill the race is on! You then go through a few twists and turns sometime barreling over the other train on the track only to find yourself screaming with joy! After a few of the turns and twists you find yourself back at the lift hill going back up for a ride on the other side of the track this side has to be my favorite as this is where the real fun is! After you make the first turn and start heading back down the awesome drop only to find yourself heading in to this sick barrel roll over the other train that leaves you flying weightless for at least 3 seconds as this roll is super long and just mind blowing fun! Overall this is a really long ride and just over the top when it comes to thrills and technology without a doubt Twisted Colossus is one of the best rides in the park and has remained one of my favorite coasters to ride at any park anywhere! You so know that I can't wait to come back and ride TC all around super fun and amazing experience for everyone! read more

I was getting jitters by just watching the promotion video on facebook! My brother kept reminding me about it, so I was excited to try the ride! We waited 2.5 hours. At first we were about to give up on going because 1) tired of the wait, 2) couldn't find this on the map (even though it's advertisement was all over the place). BUT I am so glad we stuck it through like champs! We got place tickets since this ride had at least 5,000 people waiting in line...and if anyone tries cutting it would cause a havoc! Magic Mountain didn't just take the old Colossus and add the word "Twisted" to the beginning. There's a double meaning here: The blue and green track is all twisted up, and the minds who thought of this monster are twisted indeed. In a good way, naturally. The first thing I noticed from I-5 is that Colossus is now smaller than it was. The first hill is the same height as before, but the left and right ends of the superstructure are much shorter. Which is a good thing. It can make for a more intense ride. But did it? Yes. Twisted Colossus is intense. If you're nervous about roller coasters, then stay away from Twisted Colossus. By now, you've seen the pictures and YouTube videos, and you know that the cars bank beyond 90 degrees and go upside down for a full second. There are dips that can throw you out of the car, resulting in instant death. But the contraption that holds your legs in is the strongest I've yet seen in a roller coaster, and once it's in place, you cannot move. The Viper could benefit from something like this, its device tends to hurt your shoulders. On Twisted Colossus, you never feel like you're going to fall out. Instead, you feel like you're thrown around every which way but loose. Old Colossus, the first drop was scary. New Colossus, the first drop is terrifying: an 80 degree angle! Old Colossus, there were many slow, boring spots, thanks to the huge tall superstructure. New Colossus, you go up the tall hill twice, and in between those times and after the second drop, it's fast, non-stop action, and pretty soon everything is a blur. It's an exciting package. Twisted Colossus must be the closest thing to the old Cyclone at Crystal Beach, Ontario. But that one was apparently poorly engineered, cracking the riders' ribs and giving them whiplash. A nurse had to be at the unloading station full-time to help with injuries. In contrast, Magic Mountain made sure Twisted Colossus was designed so that your body is not in danger of injury, and all you'll get is a case of nerves. Believe the hype. Ok. It's been a long time since I had that feeling! I've been on over 140 roller coasters in my life. I'm what you would call a coaster King. I've had the same top 10 list for at least 5 years, but this coaster just shot to #3 in the world for me. Fantastic engineering, the design has not a single flaw, and the thrills are nonstop. The ride clocks in at 4 minutes long and it's the best 4 minutes in the park. I can promise you won't have more fun on a coaster this year in Southern California. Bravo six flags. It's rare, but you've blown me away with this one. read more

One of the best coasters in the park!! The last time I was at six flags was back in 2013, right before they renovated the old wooden form of the ride, and decided to make it into a hybrid roller coaster of both steel and wood, and wow, they took a cool ride and make it even cooler!! The ride lasts 4 minutes, and there are so many ups and downs and loops, it was awesome! I would highly recommend this ride, and the wait is totally worth it because the ride is so long and awesome! There's only a lap belt and a seatbelt on the ride, so just be aware that it's a pretty bumpy ride, but they do offer the little cubbies to put your items into, and they also have little zipper compartments on the seats in front of you too! HELLLLL YEAHHHH! This coaster is THE BUSINESS! I never rode it when it was just Colossus so i can't really compare it to that. All I know is that this coaster is the best I have ever been on. It's really fast, really long and suprises you with the drops and turns. When you're on the "green line" it's almost a vertical drop and is AWESOME! I did get stuck twice on this coaster my first time riding. They had to manually escort us off after riding the "blue line". I loved it so much and still risked riding it again because of the adrenaline I got from it. It was the perfect way to end our night and YOU HAVE TO RIDE IT! All that's missing is a picture because I can't imagine my face and how silly and scared it must have looked. By the time I got off, my bun was a ponytail, ha! read more

Twisted Colossus, metal meets steel. I loved the original colossus and I will continue to love this updated version. Some twists and turns and what not. The coaster is almost 1 mile of track, almost 1 MILE!!! At the beginning of the ride there is like 3 bumps which I don't know why they put that in. There is the nice big climb up the hump where you meet the car that went before you. The neat part is one car goes high and the other part goes low! Colossus tops Apocalypse. Heck this tops Batman. Sorry Bats, Colossus beats you. But all in all is on my top of the roller coaster ride and this beats the California Adventure one. read more

Now THIS is how you enhance an old classic ride! I did visit the park last year specifically to say goodbye to their classic wooden coaster Colossus as soon as I knew they were "taking it down"... after all, it was their logo (and still is at the parking gate). I'm really glad instead of making something completely new they re-vamped this one the right way. Surprisingly the wait was only about an hour. That section of the park and this ride has been converted in a steampunk style. The ride itself is a million times smoother than the original (thankfully). But also, you will have no idea what you're in for until you experience it. Not only are there 80* drops on a wooden coaster, but the dips that made your heart stop in the original are a bit different and integrated well into the ride, and you kind of get to go twice every time. The second time around is even more impressive (it's different tracks). It was better than my friends and I expected, we really enjoyed it - so much that we rode it one more time before leaving and got the very front seat which was an amazing experience! I love roller coasters and the Twisted Colossus makes me love roller coasters even more. From the twists and turns and the zero g experience, this is definitely one of my favorites. This is the best coaster I have ever been on. Period. Imagine filling a balloon with air, then letting go of whatever you call the filling thingy, but still holding onto the balloon as it flies around the room. That is what this ride is like. From the near vertical drop, to the barrel rolls, to the whatchmacallit that makes you feel like you are flying left then right, this thing kept me guessing the whole time. Oh, then you do it again. Biggest ever, nope. Tallest drop, nope. Highest loop, nope. Laying flat on a bed of nails, nope. It doesn't need any of that. It's just a fun coaster that leaves you wondering what the heck just happened. read more

Oh boy, Twisted Colossus. This coaster is an amazing Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) coaster but is severely overhyped. The problem with this coaster is the fact that the pacing is awkward with the second lift killing any action that it had. Out of the 4 RMC's I've ridden, this got beat by New Texas Giant, because after riding it a couple hundred times, I've realized that unless it actually duels (and I really mean a good duel) it's pretty much an above average steel coaster. Honestly, the drop is good but it's not great like other RMC's out there. If you want the fastest train, wait for the green train, cause that runs the fastest. I don't care for the marketing term of it being a "hybrid"cause when it comes down to everything, the type of coaster is determined by the track. Now, there are a lot of issues I have with this which I didn't deduct because it's either RMC's fault or Six Flags'. First of all, for larger riders all seat belts aren't equal length. Row 12(the very back) by far has a longer length than all other rows. Secondly, the way RMC engineered the lap bars stink. RMC's are notoriously unfriendly for larger riders and that's just plain dumb on RMC's part because there are other rides (X) that do much more and those restraints are extremely forgiving. Nevertheless, it's still a top 10 coaster for any enthusiast such as myself. read more

After a year of intense anticipation, I finally got to ride Twisted Colossus, my first Rocky Mountain Construction coaster. Did it live up to the hype? Eventually. My first run in the morning left me a little conflicted. Sitting up front definitely gives you intense ejector airtime. Violent even. I just feel like the front seat ride is a little jerky. Still enjoyed it, but not quite the nirvana I was hoping for. Luckily, we were at Magic Mountain for an "Exclusive Ride Time" event. Before the park even opened to the public, we came back and were able to go again twice in a row. I've always had a preference for the back seat anyway and personally, this is where Twisted Colossus delivers. With that feeling of being pulled around the track, the coaster is relentless and the transitions between elements are much smoother. This thing is an airtime machine. First drop. Second hill leading up to the "High Five." Blue side dip beneath the green track double down. You even get some nice floater airtime through the blue side's barrel roll element. Of course, what truly makes Twisted Colossus shine is when it duels. I was able to sneak in one last ride at about 11pm and the trains synced perfectly both times around. There is nothing more satisfying than watching the green side train float over you during the "Top Gun Stall." Well, except for the fact that they may or may not be giving you the bird. And when you are on the green side experiencing the stall, it's amazing. You really are floating. It never feels like you are relying on that lap bar to remain in your seat. Bravo to Alan Schilke and RMC for engineering an incredible roller coaster. I definitely need to start traveling more so I can experience more of their crazy creations. read more

What a awesome redesign of a historic marvel. That first drop is sick ridiculous and unexpected. If timed right, you get to race the other car which the engineers ingeniously designed because you ride racing that car to begin with, but you come around to become the car you raced so you get to ride twisted colossus twice! I just rode this ride for the first time today for my 25th birthday and it is just as "twisted" as advertised! I remember riding the original Colossus and enjoying it but I probably like this new wooden/steel hybrid version even more! It is a wild coaster with steep, near-vertical drops and crazy loops as it weaves its way through the wooden structure that supports itself. RMC did an amazing job retrofitting this structure for a new age of roller coaster thrills and Alan Schilke helped create a masterpiece of coaster design! I love this ride so much I even got a T-Shirt of it at the Emporium! An absolutely essential ride to go on at Magic Mountain, your visit won't be complete without going on it! read more
