The twisted vine is definitely my new favorite joint in downtown fullerton! I came here with my boyfriend and when we walked in we were seated right away. They have the bar, high bar tables, and a nice sitting area that seats up to 4 on large sofas or huge sofa chairs to make the experience more relaxing. This place is definitely for a more mature crowd since its 21+ to enter and it's amazing variety of red and white wines and beer as well makes it a place to be on a thursday night. The staff was very friendly and helpful and also attentive, but sometimes too attentive as if i'm being on watch 24/7, but hey i rather have attention then be ignored for gawd know's how long LOL. Anyhow we didn't focus too much on the drinks, but my boyfriend got their "Apple beer" which was $9 and he said it really tasted like fresh juiced apples mixed with smooth white ale. Sounds yummy! White wine flights for $15 (3 varietals) and red wine flights for $20. 5 meats cured plate was similar to a Costco Charcuterie pack! Their baked Brie was very ordinary and bland. Really enjoyed this spot for dinner! Clearly based my decision of what to eat on two factors, one, the Yelp pictures, and two, the waiter! We had the Brie Bread Bowl with the Granny apples and this dish was amazing! The second thing was the grilled cheese with tomato bisque, WOW, tomato bisque was Amazing!!! Can I get that canned to pour over my pasta! I loved the flavor and dipping my grilled cheese in it was perfect, I would even take that dish with just the side bread that came with the Brie Bowl because I did both and it was just amazing!! Cute place located in DTF. There's a public parking lot at the back of the restaurant. There's different sitting choices such as outside seating, couch seating, bar seating, and table bar seating. The prices aren't too bad for a wine bar! Only wish they had more selection of food on their menu. The cheese and meat platter is really good with the fresh bread and the homemade chimichurri was super delicious. The beet salad has a citrus dressing sprinkle with cheese. The Mac and cheese with bacon was delicious comfort food. The flatbread isn't special but it was decent! We order their cheesecake for dessert and it was very interesting but super good! It looked like ice cream but it was cheesecake in a cream ball form sitting on a bed of fresh strawberries! Very yummy! I haven't tried much of their food except for the cheese platter and brie bowl. OMG the brie bowl is amazing, and I am not exaggerating. It comes in a sourdough bread bowl with melted brie cheese paired with bite size bread pieces and apple slices on the side. My boyfriend and I came here last night for a date night. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxing. It was our first time at the Twisted Vine and were greeted by every staff member we passed. We came here on a Friday night and it was rather crowded but what do you expect for a Friday night. We only had a party of two so we didn't wait longer than 30 minutes. While we waited we were recommended a wine and beer and they were both really good. We sat outside on the patio and they had the heaters on so it was perfect. We ordered the baked brie, other reviews said it was amazing and it was! met my expectations. I practically ate the whole thing myself. We did experience a 5.3 earthquake so there was a delay in our order. The staff was very accommodating and compt our meal for being so patient. I definitely loved the hospitality of the staff and whole ambiance of Twisted Vine. We will DEFINITELY be coming back to try different wines, beer and small plates. The manager Wendy is simply rude and should not be in customer service. I frequent this place often but every single time I have to deal with her it is a bad experience. Today's episode with Wendy, we arrive at 9:31pm, she's like sorry the kitchen closed at 9:30pm. I'm like I come often and it's usually open to where she replies, "I can't tell you the kitchen would be open even if you came at 9." That is no way to do business! I'm like you serve wine until midnight, you should have something for your customers. She tells me it's within their right to do that. So we brought in snacks while we drink. "Beware...". We met some friends at the Twisted Vine. We have been here several times. We purchased 3 bottles of wine from the right side of the bar when you enter the building. Not once has anyone ever mentioned there is a $20 corkage fee for wines on that side. When a different waitress brought the bill there was a $60 corkage fees. I said something to the waitress. I was upset because we have never been charged before. She explained that the left side was no corkage fees but the right side does. I said well no one explained that, I would have spent $50 or more on a better wine. Mind you the wine we choose several of them raved about it and was on their wine club. So we didn't hesitate on choosing it. The manager came over and tried to explain the difference. But I explained no one ever explained to us there was $20 corkage fee. I would have just purchased on the left side. She says well I would have to call the owner at home, then stayed quite and just swung her head around walked away. She never once said let me see what I could do, just rudely walked away. She had a bad attitude about the situation when I AM the CUSTOMER. She returned with a new bill and said we removed it BUT... I did ask the waitress and she did say it was in house or something like that. How is a customer supposed to know what that means?? Simply wrong.... if there is a corkage fee YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR CUSTOMERS NOT USE A FANCY VERBIAGE that is completely bad for business!! The corkage fee is one thing one thing But to be rude to the customer on top of it is another. The previous times we were there we purchased Caymus, Misc., Cru wines we are not afraid to spend money on wines, it's the principle of not telling us about the corkage fees and a manger being rude, trying to correct is as if we were wrong. If you value customer service and being made to feel welcome, avoid the Twisted Vine. I am highly disappointed in our recent experience at what used to be a favorite spot. We have been regular patrons until our experience last night. My wife and I had our first date at the Twisted Vine. We have celebrated anniversaries, bridal showers, baby showers, work celebrations, etc. there and have recommended Twisted Vine to others. In our patronage alone, we have spent thousands of dollars at Twisted Vine over the course of the past five years. We went to Twisted Vine this past Saturday to celebrate our first date anniversary and had one of the worst experiences at a bar/restaurant in recent memory. The main reason we have been return customers at the Twisted Vine has been the excellent customer service. Excellent customer service no longer exists at this establishment. We went in to have some wine at 4:30 PM on a Saturday. There were five other patrons in at the time. We were told we could sit anywhere and then chased off of two different tables. When I spoke with the female manager (?) she was rude, inflexible, and unaccommodating. I informed her we would be, at most, 30-60 mins at the table and out before the Saturday rush hit. She still made us feel unwelcome and did nothing to accommodate us. We would have spent about $100-150 plus a 20% tip. It is a shame she was more concerned about nonexistent customers than the ones directly in front of her. We ended up taking our business elsewhere and will continue to do so moving forward. read more

So disappointed with the staff on duty tonight. I've been a regular for years, but tonight was so disappointing! The staff on duty was rude, uninterested and far removed. So not Twisted Vine. What happened? My experience and review for tonight- 4/7/17: 2 minutes before my friends and I decided to leave , A couple was escorted out the back door. When we wanted to leave, we were told that the back door was no longer open. We were asked to leave through the front door. We advised the "manager with the short hair" that our car was parked in the back and asked if they could make an exception and open the door. She refused to open the door. When we were outside we noticed that the back gate was open ! Why have someone who is angry and mean representing your restaurant? She obviously doesn't care and doesn't understand Fullerton's customers. You may be losing many friends in Fullerton. Sad. And just so stupid. read more

Came here with my service dog and a lady by the name of Wendy that worked here informed me that patio was taken up for an event and that she would not be able to seat me anywhere in the restaurant and said only seating I would be able to get seated at was the waiting chairs by the entrance where there were no tables to eat off of. If you love wine, candlelight ambiance and a staff that makes you feel like you are with friends, this is where you should be! If you love wine, but aren't familiar with it or don't know too much about it, they will explain it to you without making you feel like a complete putz! And if they happen to remove your favorite for another wine, they will suggest one that makes your mouth salivate! Their food is great (wish the menu had full meals), the staff is amazing, and the ambiance is relaxing. This is a great place to take out of town friends who want to be wined and dined! I had high expectations for this place, given the Yelp rating and large amount of review, but I was unfortunately overwhelmed. The bar staff acted alarmingly unfriendly toward me and my friend. She gave the impression that she would have rather us been older patrons, likely assuming we would not tip her well. Her cold demeanor toward us was a stark contrast to the warmth and attention she gave the other patrons seated at the bar. I found the atmosphere inside to be a bit too dark and claustrophobic for my taste, but the back patio was a bit less hectic. Either way, if you are someone who has cataracts you are going to have a tough time seeing anything during your visit to this place. For the price, I think the food was sub-par, but I have been told I must have ordered the wrong dish(I think it was the caprese skewers or something like that). Although I wouldn't decline going here if I were asked, I would much rather enjoy wine and good food in the comfort of my own home for a considerably cheaper price. read more

That being said, I wouldn't necessarily regularly subject myself to sitting around middle-aged bachelorette parties, which even if that's not what was going on here it certainly felt that way. This is coming across and either ageist or sexist, which isn't good and not my intent. But it's the most interesting angle I have for writing about this place, unless you're gaga for reading about me eating melted Brie while drinking a flight of beer. Twisted Vine is a fun "Girls Night Out" or date spot. I've been here many times and always get the Baked Brie. It looks like a clam chowder bowl at first glance. It comes with apples and pieces of bread. The last time I went, I added chorizo on top of the Brie and it added a little spicy kick to the cheese. I think it's a great appetizer to order with a glass of wine. I recommend coming during the weekday. Huge Disclaimer - I'm not a huge wine person and tend to avoid places like this because I often feel mistreated when the servers find that my knowledge is lacking. But I came here to celebrate my friend graduating college and we needed up getting both the red flights! One thing that needs to be known is that these pours are significant. For 2 people, one flight is pushing it and could leave you happily drunk. I find it that it was helpful to explain to the server what exactly you are looking for and they happily will guide you to finding the right wine. The only thing I wish we had was a potential placemat or holder that would designate which wine is which. As for food, go for the charcuterie board. It's massive and really filling! The place gets packed on Saturday nights and it is a small place so you might have a hard time getting seats with a large group. However, once you're seated, someone will be quick to take your order.
