Two Men and A Truck (Irwindale, CA) destroyed two large sofas, ruined my printer, spilled ink on my carpet, and damaged the exterior of the walls of the entryway of the apartment I was leaving - all this damage was never revealed to me during the move. They sold me an insurance policy before the move but never sent me a copy. I was asked to sign the delivery papers at my new place but left without giving me a copy. It was been more than 3 months since my move and they will not share the additional insurance contract I paid for. The damage is over $20K and they offered me $100 to go away. Melissa C. is the representative that will not respond to my emails on a timely basis nor will she send me a copy of the contract or delivery papers I signed. The three men that moved me happily took my generous tip and ate the lunch I paid for but never pointed out the damage they caused. I've been on Yelp for 10+ years, and this my first review ever. These guys were that bad. If you ask them to plan for a move of your size, they will misjudge it and not send enough people even after you explain everything you need. Your stuff will not be packed or padded safely. They will drop your stuff and break them. If you want to start an official dispute and ever get past the army of unhelpful people giving you the runaround for months (Dennie, Valerie), and if you ever get through to the owner, Ed, there is a better chance that you win the lottery than this guy being helpful. Not only will he not concede to anything you're trying to claim, he will be rude and condescending the whole time. This happen to me over a year ago and my blood is still boiling from how bad this experience was, which is what compelled me to write this review even after all this time. They were very professional and friendly, they taken their time with wrapping, and placing the furniture in the truck. My only complaint is they drag one of the chairs, and I discovered a small spot-on the back leg of the chair where the paint has been removed, also, the dining room table one of the legs was scratch. Ignore these disingenuous yelp responses from the business -- they obviously do this to try and save face in public. The reality is they actually have no desire to speak to me, and have been unresponsive multiple times I've attempted to contact them about this nightmare. Notice also how they said they're sorry "a few" items were damaged, when we stated and documented that nearly every single piece of furniture was damaged -- this truly shows the level of dishonesty and bad faith behavior the staff at this location are willing to engage in. Attached is a Better Business Bureau response that shows what is actually going on behind your back when they post these dishonest yelp responses. The attachment shows the response from the Two Men and a Truck location at our destination admitting that our belongings were damaged due to the negligent loading job done by this Irwindale location. The truth is that if your items get damaged then every Two Men and a Truck location involved in your move, including corporate, will ghost you and then leave you these fake responses on yelp as they actively ignore you. We already started the legal process and demanded they engage in arbitration per our contract, and they continue being unresponsive which puts them in violation of federal law. I communicated with the movers multiple times to verify items and confirm the move. Our move was sent for 12/10/22. Almost a month from when I booked. I got a confirmation phone call and email on 12/9/22, movers will be there at 9:30-10:30am. On the morning of 12/10/22, at 8:30am, I get a call from the movers that they will not be coming. The driver was "sick" and another crew was "up north". Remind you, it's 8:30am on Saturday, how are they stuck already? I worked with Valerie and Dennie. Valerie was who called us the morning of our move to leave us out to dry. She had zero empathy, or care in the world that they were screwing us so badly. She said there was no manager to talk to, she was the only one in the office and there was nothing she could do. All with no tone in her voice or care in the world. Now we have an apartment full of boxes and our things are packed with no lovers on our last day of the lease. They couldn't have screwed us any harder. You won't believe this. I hired them for three days. The first day they were 1:30 late. The second day, they were 1:45 late. The third day, they were 2:30 late. (A total of 23 man-hours that I paid for but did not get.) When I called the office to ask why they were not there, I was met with a very condescending attitude. After two days of packing and moving out, they were only 75% finished. They left without making arrangements for more trucks or movers - "not their job". I had to finish the rest myself. I rented a U-Haul truck and a storage unit. I had to spend the next 36 hours of NON-STOP dragging and loading (no stopping for meals or sleep) to finish the job for which I had paid them. When they got to the move-in destination, they left boxes in random locations regardless of how it was marked. They left 72 cardboard boxes out in the grass of my front yard when there were two empty storage buildings on the property. They argued with my wife about where a night-stand should go. When she said, "Okay, It doesn't matter where you moved it from, I want it in the guest bedroom." The mover turned his back on her and walked away. All else is forgivable and laughable, but the disrespect shown toward my wife is another matter. These are things they can't do: Move liquids, paint, aerosol sprays, food, plants, decorative replica swords, ANYTHING in a crawl space, anything damp or was once mildewed, unhook or re-hook refrigerators or washer/dryers, remove anything attached to a wall. They moved us from an apartment on the 3rd floor with intricate corners, staircase, and small elevator into our house. They carefully used blankets, tapes and shrink wrap to prevent dirt and damage. Some items were built and heavy. Did all that in a couple of hours since our move was local. If the need arise I will definitely call on them again, and recommend anyone with moving need to call Two Men and a Truck. read more

DO NOT HIRE!!!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. There is a reason the one and two-star reviews far exceed the five-star reviews, and it is not because angry people are more likely to leave a complaint. Compare with other companies and you will see that quality companies still have more good reviews than bad. Quality companies also respond to bad reviews and try to make things right. Notice there are NO replies to the bad reviews here. I know, because I read about a quarter of the 100+ one-star reviews. I can also confirm that we had many of the same terrible experiences as others when my boyfriend and I moved in together in late 2022. You will not get the services you request, they will not be adequately prepared, and they will not take responsibility for any damage caused by this (never mind immense emotional distress)... On top of all of this, the owner, Ed, will be incredibly rude and dismissive. If you manage to speak with him directly there is a zero percent chance he'll do anything to help you. - Hired for packing AND moving and they only sent two guys who thought they were there primarily to move and to pack only the kitchen. Even though I had said in multiple phone calls that NOTHING would be packed in advance. - There was no video call or photos requested to evaluate the space before determining how many people to send, they just asked me some general questions. They said I agreed to two men, but I am not a professional moving company! First of all, I thought they were sending three men, not two, and I went with their recommendation based on their "professional" judgment. - Damaged multiple expensive items, which we watched happen. Not only did they refuse to cover the damage, Valerie, Dennie, and Ed gave my boyfriend the runaround for MONTHS with no resolution a year and a half later. I recently found the receipt and handwritten damage report, followed up with my boyfriend to see if it had ever been resolved, and was livid when he said no and told me why. They gave him such a runaround for so long, he eventually gave up because he was so distressed over all of it. This is an absolute deliberate manipulation of people and completely scammy. I feel especially upset because I was the one who decided to hire Two Men and a Truck for my boyfriend's move. He works multiple jobs and I was still waiting to start school at the time, so I was trying to ease some moving stress for him. Instead, this added to it. Not just on the day, which was horrifically stressful, it lasted for several MONTHS. I do not blame the movers for any of this. They showed up to do a job, the company they work for did not appropriately prepare them. As a result, they had to rush through helping us pack and loading the truck and mistakes were made. Damage happens in a move. It's disappointing and sometimes heartbreaking when it's an irreplaceable item, but it happens. The movers were trying their best and were apologetic about the damage when we brought it to their attention. They were also clearly frustrated with the situation, like it wasn't the first time something like this had happened. And based on the reviews here, it was far from the first or the last. If you want a recommendation: I used Clutter for my part of the move, go with them. I had already been storing with them, but was disappointed in some changes to their customer service, so I decided to go with another company for my boyfriend's portion of the move. It was shocking how superior the experience with Clutter was comparatively. I also had damaged items due to the number of times items were loaded and unloaded between moving out into storage and from storage to our new apartment. I exchanged a few emails with them over the damage, they paid me almost immediately and covered the full cost of the damage. Very impressed with this company. We moved during COVID-19 and they were great about wearing masks and social distancing. The men even went above and beyond with helping us! Our large couch wouldn't fit in the elevator OR stairs (they ended up lifting it over a railing). We were pretty nervous about moving during the pandemic but the office staff (Jessica especially) were lovely in reassuring us and they even recommended 3 movers instead of 2 to make it go faster. It was pricey but I like that it was a flat rate unlike other companies that add extra cost per steps or per gas or whatever. They wrapped the furniture and did a good job there were minimal tiny scratches on a couple of items I wouldn't have even noticed had my boyfriend not pointed them out. Ed Razo, the manager, is an unapologetic, rude, and arrogant human who will defend all the bad decisions his employees make... from technology not sending receipts, Andrea Guzman providing misinformation about exclusivity to the truck and the services I asked for, packing services, not returning phone calls for over a week and having to contact the corporate office to force them to return my phone calls, being hung up on by Sabrina more than once, the drivers asking for a specific tip, etc. YOU DO NOT GET THE SERVICES YOU ARE TOLD YOU ARE GETTING OR WHAT YOU ASKED FOR....AND THEY DON'T CARE HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT IT. My concerns and negative experiences did not matter to Ed Razo. Apparently, he doesn't depend on repeat business nor does he appreciate his customers in the slightest. He kept saying he is pragmatic and only states facts, but he is condescending, laughs arrogantly over you when you are speaking, interrupts and speaks over you, and doesn't care about your experience, and his facts mean leaving out our side of the experience completely.... The good things about this company were the movers who were professional and I had no issues with anything breaking or missing. They were fast and moderately careful. The reason I am giving a 2 star review was the inconsistent and somewhat deceptive information given prior to the move. Our move was scheduled on 07/01/23 and we contracted with the company on 05/01/23. The initial estimate for $1000-$1500 less than other companies we spoke to but it was an over the phone estimate and we only learned later on that it was not an accurate. Our initial quote did not have nearly enough boxes per room and also did not take into account the actual price of moving the boxes, only the cost of the boxes themselves. As someone with no experience with moving companies, part of the low estimate was my fault with not taking into account how many boxes we would need but I think it is very difficult for someone over the phone to give an accurate estimate for an interstate move. In hindsight, I would have picked a company that had a representative that came to my apartment or did a video walk through. This initial lower cost estimate is what made us choose this company and was just not accurate. Another thing I learned about moving companies during this whole process was how they make estimates for interstate moves, they can either use weight of furniture/boxes or cubic feet of how much space your furniture/boxes take up in the van. After reading through the terms and conditions it seems the industry standard is to use weight. I requested to have the truck weighed but they said they would not do that, instead they use the "industry standard size" of each piece of furniture and calculate their estimate based on cubic feet. The majority of our furniture was cheap and does not weigh that much so we would have very likely paid less if they would have just calculated the actual weight. I also felt it was very arbitrary when they came up with their numbers, I would remove 6-7 pieces of small furniture and added one office desk and somehow the price didn't change. I made a last minute change of adding my tv and taking out the office desk and still the price didn't change? Next time I move interstate I will definitely pick up a company that actually weighs everything and then just have a rate for the amount of weight and amount of distance travelled. That is fair and transparent rather than "industry standard size of furniture" Another issue we had was with our payment options. We had an email from two men and a truck stating that we would be able to use our credit/debit card despite the contract saying we had to use a cashiers check or cash. Despite having it in writing, 3 days before the scheduled move date they tell us we cannot use a credit card, I had been planning for two months to use the credit card and did not have ~$5000 in cash, nor could I come up with that amount of cash in 3 days. What is the point of getting things specifically in writing if they just turn around and say sorry we made a mistake the contract you signed says no credit card so you need to just come up with the money. Overall it felt like they were trying to get our business with low initial estimates and inaccurate statements of being able to use a credit card. Once we placed the deposit, it wasn't until less than a week before the move that our estimate increased and we were told we had to pay with cash, by that time it was too late to hire anyone else. They also refused to just weigh the truck when asked which I think is another red flag. I would be cautious hiring this company for interstate moves. Other reviews seem to be positive when it comes to local moves however. read more

I called to confirm the day prior and was told nothing had been confirmed although they had my information. They were quite apologetic. I was told I'd get a call back from their commercial moving division. Still no call. My entire inventory plan for my company depended on this move and now everything is delayed. Poor professionalism and no follow through. Also, while I was on hold, a recording played, talking about the owner and her great charitable works. Nothing wrong with that but if you spend all of your time virtue signaling and not running your business, you won't have anything to give away. The movers were careless and did not use blanket padding on these items or the concerned railing doorways and stairwells. I paid an extra valuation fee to ensure my belongings would be covered should any damage occur during the move. I paid a professional furniture repair company to evaluate damage and furnished the moving company with this report plus purchase receipts for my damaged furniture. In addition, an email from Ashley Furniture was attached. Two Men and a Truck will not accept liability so I WILL pursue the matter via small claims ASAP. Two Men and a Truck cancelled on me 30 minutes before their scheduled move. I was told one man injured himself the night before and another was out due to Covid protocols and that every other mover was tied up with another job. If that was the case, I'm sorry to hear it but was shocked that the company does not have any other movers on standby in the event a situation like this arises. Further, the company was not able to offer accommodation until four days later. I was luckily able to find another moving company for the next morning, but I'm writing this review so that those who may not have such wiggle room for a move are aware of this possibility. My move did not go well, for the following reasons: 1) The movers lost 3 pieces to my kid's bunk bed. Because of this, they left the beds unfinished and I had to pay someone the next day to buy the missing parts and build the beds. The movers used the excuse that they don't guarantee Ikea furniture because it breaks so easily. First off, this wasn't from Ikea. Secondly, the furniture didn't break; the movers actually lost the pieces. They even asked me to drive back to my old apartment and look around on the floor for the pieces they lost, which I did (the parts were not there). 2) They forgot their tools at my old apartment and I had to drive back to my apartment to get their tools for them (a second trip). 3) They took a very long time. I even helped with loading and they went way over on the quoted time. They took an hour off of my bill which did not feel like enough for the hassle. They said that was all their boss would allow. 4) The movers complained to me about the hours that they work, and that the customer service people make promises that can't be kept (like that the movers know how to put furniture together). One even had to step away for a "mental break." Altogether unprofessional. 5) I sent all of this to their customer service department after I got an email asking how my move went. I haven't heard back in a week. I was also told that their manager would be calling me and he never did. In the future, I'll just buy some pizza and beer and ask friends to help, or hire a different company. This was a waste of over $1,000 to move into a two bedroom apartment. read more

They were flexible about adjusting inventory size to move. The two men were great. They were friendly and accommodating. They wrapped our furniture well and took it apart when needed and put it together upon arrival. They were wonderful to deal with. We had things to move from my moms house to ours and then they made a second stop at the thrift store with the rest of the stuff. We would highly recommend them. read more

Wednesday 2/22/23 at 3:20pm their moving truck 108 hit my property and damaged it. Luckily I had two witnesses since I was out of town when it happened that told me about it when I got home a week later. I have camera footage of this truck damaging my property but yelp won't let me post the video. No note was left or attempt to let me know the damage happened. I contacted the office and didn't hear from them till next day saying the drivers told them of the incident which made it worse that the company didn't try and reach out to me after they were told about the incident. I had an estimate done and it will cost me $2500 to fix. They said they would have someone come out this week but they have no urgency to rectify what they've done to my property. Big trucks have no business turning in and out of my narrow alleyway and most will enter in the other way and back in. Regardless, I'll see them in small claims for my $2500 as it's being repaired today since they have no desire to have this situation handled with any urgency whatsoever. Like I want my property sitting around damaged and I'm just supposed to wait and hound them when they're the ones that damaged my property. Fucking terrible company all the way around. read more

They were extremely young and inexperienced with only one mover that had a couple of years of experience who was running the show. They caused a lot of damage to my furniture that needed to be wrapped up carefully. They applied cheap sticky tape directly to expensive furniture that only comes off in little pieces. They coupled my two dining room table leaves in such a way that the hardware of one leaf was applied to the table, top of the other leaf during transit and resulted in damage. read more

When I looked under the bed, I realized 2 out of 3 of the supporting legs were missing! The crew started early morning and didn't finish until the evening. We didn't have our lights/electricity so weren't able to assess how the move went. We were just happy everything was in the new home and also felt relieved that the movers were done because it's laborious. Come to find days later, when we were unpacking our items were missing and my dresser was scratched completely on the side. I think the movers were exhausted towards the 2nd leg of the trip and didn't care at that point to be careful. They just wanted to get everything into the house and complete the move. I thought - Good thing we bought insurance! NOT!!! - I reached out to customer service asap, providing pictures and detailed explanation. They didn't follow up until 1.5 months later after I sent and called several messages. When I finally heard back, they said they weren't going to cover my damages because their crew claimed, we did a walk through and Ok'd everything. I would give zero stars if I could. Cancelled on us with less than 24h to go to our move, now I have to scramble to find someone else. I've never dealt with someone so unprofessional. read more
