I had 6 things moved from Portsmouth to Suffolk. When they removed the old items and took them outside, one of them asked if he could use my restroom in my bedroom. of course, I told him yes and the other fellow was outside getting the new items. I came downstairs. I heard the toilet flush and sat downstairs a few minutes. when he didn't come back downstairs, I went upstairs to see what he was doing. I found him with both sides of my jewelry box open.He closed it and said something fell out of it and he was putting it back. I was home alone, so I didn't say anything. I did call the company while they were still here. I did notice that my engagement ring was still sitting on my dresser. I explained this to the company. I told them he had no reason to be down by my jewelry box. The company is believing them and said they would not have their workers disrespected. I didn't disrespect them at all. I was home alone and was afraid to say anything. I can't believe that the company took up for their employees instead of their paying customers. I had no reason to call them and lie. I wasn't asking for anything except maybe a sincere apology. I didn't get that. They are basically saying that I'm lying. Just so you know, there is not a gold bracelet in there. read more

Many of my items were damaged - TV, electric fireplace tv stand, coffee table, bar cabinet wheels, along with tears and scuff/dirt marks on my couch and mattress and multiple glasses broken. I'm not fully unpacked but the more I unpack, the more I am discovering. The two guys COMPLETELY mishandled my belongings. There was a claimed filed and the manager Ashley unprofessionally bullied me into accepting a fraction of what my items cost, it's not even enough to replace only my tv. She said that the claims department wouldn't give me much of anything, but this was all she could do. I've called multiple times to get this resolved, haven't heard back from the GM... they're trying to get away with this and it's not right. It's not fair! I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Two Men and a Truck. During my move, the crew pulled my dresser away from the wall without using a dolly or having a second person assist. As a result, they broke the dresser. When they showed it to me, they immediately claimed that it had already been broken and previously glued back together -- which is completely untrue. The dresser had never been broken before. They are now trying to say the glue and screws show it was previously repaired, which is false. The damage happened during their handling. They then had me sign a form, telling me I was just acknowledging that they took photos and were starting a damage claim. I later realized the form was not what they represented it to be. I feel I was misled into signing something under false pretenses. In addition to the dresser, they dented my washer during transport and caused frame damage. Instead of properly addressing the issue, they repeatedly punched the washer in an attempt to push the dent out. They are now refusing to repair or properly fix that damage. The problems did not stop there. They removed doors from their hinges and failed to reinstall them properly. Some doors now will not go back on the hinges at all, and others were damaged during removal. They also scratched multiple walls throughout the home. Overall, this experience was careless, unprofessional, and handled dishonestly when it came to accepting responsibility. I would strongly caution anyone considering using this company. read more

We were moving in to an apartment on the 4th floor. The elevator in that building broke down the day before our move. Big change! We called to let them know we would not have an elevator and were asked if they could call us back shortly. Within 15 minutes we received a call back. The job would be done. Thank you! They did a fantastic job moving us. They changed the two man crew to a four man crew and they were able to move us into our new place without the elevator. They got the job done in 6 & 1/2 hours having estimated 8 & 1/2 with two men and the elevator. The moving crew were great! Those young men were awesome! The office staff, Rachel and Kim, were extremely nice, helpful and thorough in assuring and ensuring everything was A-OK. They went out of their way to make sure our move happened. I was shocked at the EXTRA $1,000 FEE charged. The fact that they took wayyyy too long padding (my pads) and saran wrapping to EXCESS ran up the "time slotted". HORRIBLE packers. Very young men with little experience in packing a truck or packing into a storage unit from truck. I was shocked. Again adding more time to the bill. Beware of this company. We called to make a arrange for loading help and were told that we should go ahead and make a reservation because the end of the month is so busy. We called back the next day to cancel after finding that their prices were very high. We were told at that time the deposit of 300 dollars was non refundable - this was still two weeks out. we had not been told that this was non-refundable and we had not signed anything. When I called, the girls were very sweet and answered all my questions. Our new home would not be ready for about a month and they said they could store our items, what? Game changer. All our items were in tip top shape once we moved in to our new home. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! This is the most unprofessional moving company I've ever worked with. They have no respect for your belongings whatsoever and after they make you pay $7000(!!!) for moving a 600sqft tiny one bedroom and damage/ destroy a significant part of your belongings, they'll claim your moving policy states they don't have to compensate ANY damage they caused to your moving boxes because you didn't pay an additional few hundreds/thousands of dollars for them to pack your stuff into a few boxes. 4 of my moving boxes looked like they had been thrown out of a moving truck and ran over afterwards. They were completely smashed and - surprise - anything in there was damaged or destroyed beyond recovery. Including paintings my mother made before she died 14 years ago that I obviously cannot replace. I'm still confused as to how them packing those same boxes would've changed the result of belongings being broken if the boxes themselves are smashed to half their original size... Also, in multiple boxes with clothes there was dirt all over my clothes INSIDE the moving boxes?! This doesn't even include the fact I am missing a few items that apparently got lost in transport?! And you guessed it, will not be reimbursed. Furniture was damaged badly including a metal lock being torn apart which requires incredible force. Items were wrapped improperly or not even wrapped at all. The fact that a $600 iRobot no longer functions properly cause it got so roughed up the hard plastic docking station is damaged (this wasn't wrapped in pads at all despite my requests) is waved off as "cosmetic damage". Yes there is "cosmetic damage". But it's also no longer working due to your mishandling of my property. They'll do anything to weasel their way out of taking responsibility and accountability for their gross negligence and claim "everything was fine" on their end. The fact that the guys who delivered my belongings seemed to be almost as much in shock as I was and went out of their way to send photos and get their manager on the phone, didn't matter to anyone they report to. The one franchise just points the finger at the other and nobody in this place takes accountability or even tries to make things right. The incompetence and gross negligence displayed by this company is absolutely shocking. Kim A who works for this company is deeply disturbed. She called me the wrong name in my home while doing my quote. I guess there's an hour window they give you for your quote (?) and she showed up in the last 15 minutes, only after I called to ask where they were. I responded in telling her why I wouldn't be going with her company once she sent the quote. (Calling me by the wrong name and showing up late)-She sent back a 5(!!) paragraph very rude email telling me why I was wrong. Great customer service, right? Then, after I sent a short response again, she sent ANOTHER 5(!!) paragraph email. So at this point, you know you're not getting the business then why(??)do you keep emailing? I was given a positive recommendation by a neighbor which caused me to decide to use two men and a truck for an extremely short distance local move from our old home to our new one. While I was eager to trust this recommendation, I am sorry I did. While the three men who provided service were kind, they lacked any professional moving skills. Almost all of our furniture received nicks and scratches. Two pieces has large scuffs and heavy damage. Trim in our old and new home was scuffed and scraped. And, to make matters more complicated they put a huge gouge in our hardwood floors in the new home. Top this off by the fact I was convinced to "purchase" additional protection for our possessions. I had very good experiences with this company. They were efficient and quick, and both times I used them, the prices were pretty close to the estimates. The 1st time I used them, they left an item on the truck but were quick to return the item and even help put together some furniture with me. Although the 2nd time I used them, I had to remind the movers to get a large box they almost left behind. One guy went up to get it, and didn't ask for help (even though he was clearly struggling), and end up dropping it half-way down the stairs and injuring his hand. It was around $700 to move a 2-bedroom apartment worth of furniture from a 1st floor apartment to a 2-story town house. Set up a move for 6/27, three to four weeks in advance. I was scheduled for a morning, early afternoon move. Two days before the move, received a text to confirm the move. I replied, "YES". The day of the move, I called at 12:30, to see if I could get a more specific time. I was told, "The movers have not touched base from their morning move, but I would be called 30 mins before they are heading to me." Got a call at 1:40 saying the movers are finishing up and should be to me "not too much longer." 3:10 received a call saying the movers "turned off their communications, forgot they had another move, and went home." I've used the company in the past when I lived in KY and it was fine and so I figured I'd use them again. The booking process was easy and the movers showed up on time. However, I noticed they didn't have a dolly and so had to take everything out to the truck by hand, which definitely made the process slower (that matters when you're being charged by the hour). Also, they noted that one of the screws (out of a total 16 screws) in my bedframe could not be removed as it seemed to have a piece of metal stuck in it and so could not be moved out of the bedroom because the headboard wouldn't fit through the door. I asked if they could just removed the other screws to see if that would help but they just said they had tried everything to maneuver the bed out and it didn't work so they left the bed behind. I ended up having to get someone else to take a look and he removed the offending screw with a vice wrench in 5 seconds and took the bed down in like 10 minutes. I just feel that for a professional moving company, there should be measures in place for hiccups that can occur with moving instead of just giving up and leaving items behind. I think they should have better training for their employees so this doesn't happen to other people. read more

This was the first time I've ever hired a mover and it was a great experience. Kathleen on the phone was very nice and had great customer service skills, not sure if she's on site or at a call center but either way she was helpful over the phone and through email. Ron and Kenneth were my movers for the day. Both were very professional and worked hard the entire time during the move, they didn't try to milk the hourly time and got it done ahead of the estimated time. We usually expect a crap show but as soon as the men showed up, I felt at ease as they were professional, friendly, and attention detailed. They even navigated an impossible couch up a very awkward staircase just because it's the room I wanted it in, only to find it had mold underneath from a previous move and they moved it back down for me to dispose of without complaining an ounce. Friendly guys who took care, worked quickly and moved some really heavy items upstairs. As to price, the estimates were high based upon over-the-phone descriptions of what was to be moved. I was happy with the ultimate cost because it seemed to be completely inline with what I thought the value was of moving what I had to move from where it was to where it had to go. Absolutely horrible. All they care about is making money, not doing what is right. When I called I was told ALL employees have background checks performed, yet a felon showed up. I live in military housing therefore he was not allowed and delayed the move by over 3 hours. The move was not able to be completed, because I had to go to work and the delay caused by a felon showing up. They agreed to come back Saturday to finish, but I had to pay. I was initially told it would be free. Not much better service on Saturday. The watch commander had to grant permission to another mover. Another hour wasted. Then the lift broke so my husband had to use his jack to lift stuff up on the truck. With all theses delays they were not able to move every thing on the list we agreed upon. We had to rent a Uhaul truck. Yes there were more things initially, but we had an agreed list for Saturday that they did not complete. Needed an experience mover to help me get my daughter out of her third floor apartment. I called Two Men and a Truck at the office and set up an appointment for an estimate. Sam came on time and was very thorough. We scheduled the move on our schedule and the movers promptly arrived on the scheduled day and time. The movers had a complex task.. They had to transport the contents of a 2 bedroom apartment down three flights of stairs and then the had to pack it into a 10x10 storage room. The crew was very skilled. They treated my stuff like their own. everything was wrapped and packed into the truck very organized. Once we got to the storage building the magic that Jason and the crew performed to get the stuff into the 10x10 room was unbelievable. Everything fit and it is packed for easy access, if we need. I scheduled with this moving company to unload a storage unit and move it all into an apartment a few months ago. I was quoted something over the phone, and of course it ended up costing triple because the movers they sent took their sweet time doing everything. I had mostly everything in boxes and some stuff that wasn't in boxes, but wasn't breakable. At the end of the day I also realized some of my items were stolen, but of course when I called the next day to let them know they knew nothing of these items. I had photo evidence of the storage unit upon our arrival before they took anything out, but was still told they didn't have the items. This company comes highly recommended. It has great reviews and perhaps those were all earned. Here is my honest experience with this company. Do not use it for military moves. The military Is very specific in their rules and require the moving trucks to be weighed multiple times to ensure reimbursement. After receiving written confirmation from the owner that she understood our needs, I believed it was taken care of. Day before the move I receive a call to expect them between 8 and 9am. That 8-9 window turned into 930 before anyone showed up. No weights had been taken on the trucks, and no one had any idea how or where to get them. The drivers were perplexed that we were asking for weight tickets. I placed two calls to the office and was told by Kim that it was "being handled". Turns out it wasn't, and my spouse had to supervise the trucks to the weigh station and babysit them to make sure they did it correctly. This took over two hours. The trucks were supposed to be weighed prior to arriving at our house. This oversight was chalked up to "a new guy" forgetting a form or something. This was the excuse provided. A whole house move meant to start between 8 and 9am begins after 12 noon, leaving me with no time to clean my house before passing it along to its new owner. There was also zero sense of haste or effort to make up any time lost due to their mistake. Due to their lateness, my own move with my two children (a toddler and an infant) was pushed back, forcing me to drive over three hours after dark and arrive at my new home after 11pm that night. This was because a new guy couldn't get some paperwork correct, according to the owner. The following day (Sunday) we received a call from the movers at 740 am that they were getting food and would arrive "in 45 minutes". The drivers pull up after 10 am. No update calls. No one at the office picked up the phone, and their "after hours emergency number" went straight to a voicemail. Where is the accountability for after hours if your business runs 7 days a week? A week later and I have yet to receive a return phone call from the company from the voicemail I left with their "operations director" Mike. Once you have paid it seems your usefulness to them ends. The move into the new house was the same lackadaisical inattention to detail I had now come to expect: A few examples: All of the furniture was not unwrapped, I did it myself. A few pieces were but after the trucks left and I had a tremendous pile of plastic wrap to tackle. They left a few pieces still wrapped in their moving blankets, which I suppose now belong to me? My lamps were left miles away from the tables and nightstands where they were originally picked up, and no where near their lampshades. For the amount of money this move costs I assumed I would not be ripping plastic off my baby's dresser and hunting down lamp parts on three different floors in the dark. The driver told us the dressers were too heavy we should have emptied all dresser drawers of clothes. The move instructions state in black and white that clothes can remain in dressers. Why are their employees so uninformed? Why are they blaming us for doing something wrong when their own instructions say different? Boxes were left piled everywhere in the middle of the floor, as if it never occurred to possibly leave a walking path and put boxes and against walls. A cabinet was left blocking the entrance to a bathroom. Was that really the best place to leave it? Why not just tell me that it wouldn't fit in that space? A company is only as good as its weakest employees, and we saw this amply demonstrated by this franchise. The lack of accountability and supervision is some of the worse I've ever seen. And I'm an ER nurse. I've seen a lot of bad supervision. I hope anyone who's read this far takes this review to heart when choosing who they will pay to help them tackle one of the most stressful events of their life. I used this company for a local move from one home to another. The 3 men crew showed up on time and were very courteous and professional. They made their assessment of what to do and then they got started. They were so fast and treated my items as though they owned them personally. Before long, all of my items were loaded onto the truck. Unloading went just as smoothly. All the while they continued to wrap furniture, protect the items and it was such a professional job. If a box got placed in an area that I did not want it, all I had to do was to ask them to move it and they did so. I thought the price for the move was extremely fair, especially since the move went so beautifully. These folks do what they say and come through for the customer when we need it most. And over the years I have moved many times, and this was the first time NOTHING of mine was damaged, broken or lost! We were told if all the funds were not used that they would credit it back to my credit card within 2 business days. They actually charged my card $584.35 on 3/1/19. Then on 3/4/19 they charged another $516.85 to me card. When I called because they charged over $1,000.00, they told me they never charged the $584.35 on 3/1/19. I told them I have a charge of $584.35 on my card from them on 3/1/19. She kept telling me that they did not charge that amount to my card. Had a contract with this company for a two hour block in which they were to deliver six pieces of small furniture that had been in storage in another state and take away several small tables. Per the scheduling coordinator, Kim, whom I had spoken to earlier in the week, they would have no problem doing the removal of items as long as it was within the two hour window. When they arrived (unmasked), they stated they could not help with unpacking anything because they had not been the company that packed it, even though there was a release of liability, as stated in the contract I noticed after the fact, I could sign. They said they would have their boss (Kim) call me to discuss it. Kim did call and said they could not unpack anything but when asked if they could take the packing materials away with the unwanted furniture replied, "yes", and then said she wanted to check on something with her supervisor and would call me right back. She also asked where the men were and I said out at their truck and I added I hope they didn't leave. She replied they should not leave as I need to sign for the delivery. The movers pulled up in a spotless white truck and the men jumped out wearing sharp company uniforms with a can-do attitude, creating a very professional presentation. The gear in the back was clean and squared-away precisely. They looked entirely trustworthy and totally ready to roll and indeed they were. GM Ryan White and his three-man team were systematic and efficient. They enthusiastically analyzed the challenges of the many tasks at hand and seemed genuinely concerned about doing things the right way at every turn. Their organization and focus on the job was reassuring and refreshing to experience. They were extremely careful with my goods...ranging from 18th century antique furniture to heavy industrial equipment...and loaded everything logically and very neatly. Fragile and valuable items were very well protected with moving blankets and shrink wrap and handled with great care. Pricing was very fair and came in at the estimated figure, even though my move turned out to be quite complicated and time consuming on both ends due to the nature and quantity of the items transported and the tricky architecture of the Dupont Circle home I moved into. Yeah, moving is a terrible ordeal but Two Men and a Truck in Virginia Beach made it a lot less painful than it could have been. Their customer service isn't great. I'm not sure about the movers. The people charge you 150 bucks if you talk to them two days ahead of time, I talked to them today, Thursday, the move is Saturday. I had scheduled other people because they had a way better price.... The lady calls to confirm and i told them i no longer needed them and that i had forgotten that i had scheduled with them. They said ok and that they'd charge me the fee. Their cancellation policy states, Cancellations: "We request 48 hours advance notice for a move cancellation. If our movers arrive and if for any reason you cannot move at the scheduled time, a penalty may apply." I was a couple hours off of the 48. I talked to them a little before 11. I can't believe that you actually can't work with people. You called me then to confirm, i confirmed that i wasn't using the company. read more

The first part of my move, while expensive went well. My items were in temporary storage and I received the back end of the fee no problem. The problem I'm currently experiencing is they lost some items and damaged some items and I'm having to chase them down to get those items either returned or paid for - and I paid for their insurance $300. In addition, their Ops manager came and surveyed what was missing or damaged - again no problem, even though it was later than the agreed upon time. But then he called and left a message and said that he had a replacement cord for my tv and would "drop it off later that evening, and just give me a call on my personal cell to let me know when to come over." I did not call, what woman would? I wanted to wait until the next business day and address it then, but at 7:20 pm I hear my doorbell. There he is on my front stoop stating that he called and told me he'd be over. WT*)&&)#! NO, you do not go to a woman's house late at night to "drop off a cord". I called and asked several times following that encounter, to speak with senior management, and Ashlee repetitively gave me the run around or directed me right back to the Ops manager. Enough already, if you pay insurance, and then through no fault of your own, your items are damaged or misplaced, you deserve to be compensated, that's the whole point of insurance. I will not recommend this company to anyone I know and because I am a Veteran, I would recommend that military members avoid them as well. I am sure it depends on which crew you get, but our crew just didn't do a good job. First of all they were expensive (more expensive than what they first offered - but what choice do you have on the day of your move?). After ten minutes the first box was dropped (a box with kitchen ware labeled FRAGILE), many more followed and several boxes were stored upside down (among others a wardrobe box with hangers / bottom-up shirts, clearly labeled). All our furniture was wrapped together with tons of brown tape, which is impossible to get off again afterwards and things were pushed around on the floor, stacked without any protection and handled very careless. They had offered all materials to wrap and protect our things, but didn't use any of it - I guess to make more money. Consequently most of our furniture is totally ruined with scratches, dings, remains of tape glue and other damages. Besides being unprofessional, three of the four guys often were just standing around watching one guy doing the work and they were all rather impolite. I do not recommend this company. read more

I just wanted to say how great this company was! They were on time, fast! The quote they gave me, was great, but even better was the fact that it was even less then the quote! All the guys were very polite and extremely friendly, even on this very cold morning! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Definitely use this company!!!! read more
