We were very concerned that so many contractors would not be experienced enough to deal with the challenges that a house, built in 1753 would naturally have. Dave and Mike came into an absolute mess with our post and beam construction since the damage to the fieldstone foundation impacted the entire house. They did a fabulous job, better than any of our expectations. Whenever they encountered a problem we thought would be insurmountable, they calmly figured it out; even as our house was then effected by the Columbia gas explosion, right in the middle of construction. Dave gave us good advice, made solid suggestions on how to maximize our insurance money and was calm even when we were not. The communication was quick and clear even with the other contractors. This was an unbearable situation made bearable only because of Dave and Mike's professionalism, honesty and patience. Highest recommendation for HRH Construction

In addition to that, they built a custom sliding barn door, which came out beautiful! Dave and his crew did a fabulous job. They were there every day on time and only missed 2 days due to rain. Communication was great, and Dave kept us informed every step of the way. We are very pleased and would recommend them highly.

He communicated with us throughout the project of installing a new Timberteck deck. His crew worked straight on through from start to finish without empty lapses of time. The men are so highly skilled. We continue to be happy with our beautiful deck. Therefore, we asked Ruy to install a Timberteck stair rail at our front doors, which also has withstood the test of time. We'd been concerned that installments like this would compromise the brick, whereby requiring a total rebuild, but a rebuild wasn't necessary. He also advise us on an easy and effective fix to divert water from flowing from the gutter and freezing to ice on those brick steps in winter. Based on the outcome of these projects, and our experience in their progression, we highly recommend this company.

They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

Wow. I've been hunting on the internet for some fabric to recover an antique loveseat I picked up…read morecheap on Craig's List. I've found pretty much nothing, and find it really difficult to search sometimes, because I have literally no anchor for the design. We currently rent, plan on buying in the next few years, and even if I were planning on matching the current neutral-toned living room, the loveseat's the first piece to be done, so it's totally wide open. I was thinking of a burgundy color, and was thinking of ultrasuede because it's supposed to be very easy to care for. But I basically have a blank slate, which as Amanda at George's says is "both a blessing and a curse". We went in on a Saturday at a little before noon. I went with my mother and my incredibly well-behaved baby, who was quite happy to play peek a boo with a scrap of cloth Amanda cut for us as something to walk around and use to match fabrics. I went because in annoyance with online fabric warehouses I did a search for warehouses in MA, and found a list somewhere of ALL the non-chain fabric stores in MA. I noticed George's was in Lowell and figured a 10 min drive was worth it. Their website advertised 30% off all remnants, so I went hoping to score the 9-10 yards I need for the loveseat, or at least get some ideas. There was another adult daughter-mother team in there and Amanda was working alone. She handed me a couple of books of microsuede so I could look through them. We then went wandering around looking at the rest of the fabric, which is laid out in coordinating rows. The selection of in-stock stuff is small, but there is a HUGE variety of fabric that can be ordered. The remnants were wild in their variety. We ended up with several small scraps that were only $1/each (plus 30% off, so $0.70/ea) to make some soft stacking blocks for my baby and her little cousins. We also ended up with a few remnants to do a small chair in the baby's room and a duvet cover for her bed. I found a remnant of a GORGEOUS print. I wouldn't do a piece of furniture in it because it's too light, and therefore terrible for kids and pets, but it makes great accent pillows, or I'd put it as wall paper on a single wall or something. It was inspiring. Amanda found some beautiful fabric they had in stock that matched and of course the suede books yielded several possibilities for coordinating pieces. I will end up spending more at George's than I would have if I'd been able to find something online, but honestly, given the amount of time I've spent on various websites staring at hundreds of fabrics, wondering whether or not "good for upholstery" actually meant what it says (it doesn't), wondering if my screen resolution was accurate in its color displays (it's not), and given that the prices at George's are not the highest I've been quoted from other fabric sources and upholsterers I've talked to. I also have to say that Amanda was SUPER helpful, knowledgeable and extremely nice. I've read a lot of reviews of other fabric stores and upholsterers and read about how unfriendly and unhelpful people are in them. If I didn't have an upholsterer already I'd absolutely be bringing my stuff to George's, but I'll be buying fabric from them for sure, and I would recommend them, and specifically Amanda, to anybody.

It has certainly been a combination of frustrating events, with incorrect windows and even truck fire that my, three panel, door melted in.... In my first review I think I blamed everyone and thing involved, but after reflection, I think it's more accurate to say that my sales rep. Brian Cassidy has done everything he could to right any mistakes and get me the information I needed to plan my renovation and move in date accordingly, he always returned my texts and calls and was transparent about his many efforts to sort things out for me and for that I went to three stars. The two missing stars come from beyond a storefront location and speak to some larger issues I had and am having and appear to start at the factory. Which I get given our worlds current circumstances, but it doesn't excuse an inability to get transparent information to the sales reps, so they can share that with their clients, allowing them to plan for what's happening as oppose to wonder what's happening. Or creating a system that can expedite fixing things that went wrong during the process, so projects can stay on track. So look, am I frustrated with the fact I still don't have a door that was ordered like 5 months ago, sure, do I wonder if I was a big corporate client if my calls, through Brian, to the factory and higher ups, would have been met with more information, sure, or that the door that melted in the delivery truck fire, would have been put back to the front of the line, sure, so as I mentioned it's been a frustrating chain of events, some out of anyones control, but a little transparency could have gone a long way. I hope that as the world gets back up to speed, Pella does to, in the meantime it wouldn't hurt to help your staff communicate to their customers, because I'm happy with my windows and when the door arrives I'm sure I be happy with that too and that's what we should be talking about.
