Apparently, they want you to upgrade the package in order to be able to cancel if your child is sick? A fair sick cancellation policy should NOT be dependent on a more expensive package. That's completely ridiculous. Meanwhile, if the instructor 'late cancels', we don't get a refund....instead, we are forced to do a make-up session even when the make-up times/days is not convenient for us. We don't get a refund....they make sure THEY don't lose money, but you are out of luck if your child wakes up sick.

The instructors are so good with kids and can teach using their own interests. Once of the first things my daughter learned to play was the theme from the Super Mario Brothers game. She's now learning the Blues. Teddy is awesome - and patient; and my daughter is very comfortable with him. I recommend SOR to anyone who asks. On another note, the house band came to play at a fundraiser we are very involved in. The talent of these kids was a shock to so many who watched them walk in and didn't know what to expect. The band played for an hour and we must have had 15 people comment to us on how much they sounded like Jimmy Page, Nancy Wilson and so many of the others they covered. They were amazing. 2 of them are national SOR all stars too, so we actually had celebrities on stage! The drummer did a solo that was reminiscent of Mickey Hart or Bill Kreutzmann, only not 45 minutes long and the bass and electric guitars were just as amazing. These kids can rock.

This program really helped our family not just develop our musical abilities but also helped me and my husband be better parents. The parent education provided with the fun musical activities gave us ideas and tips on how to communicate with our daughter when she was pre-verbal and how to use music to soothe a fussy child, to teach new things (like brushing teeth), and to redirect unwanted behavior. She has a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the prestigious Juliard School of Music which is a rare find amongst local music teachers. She teaches classical vocal techniques and specializes in opera and musical theater. Classical techniques expands the vocal range, evens out the voice and develops beautiful colors to the voice and even singers from different genres of music will study classical vocal techniques to expand their vocal abilities and for good vocal health. She teaches both children and adult piano lessons. She is the best music teacher I have ever had not just because her techniques are flawless and she understands how to reach her students whether they are beginners, intermediate or advanced but she is patient and kind and she inspires me and her other students to do our very best. Barbara has many long term studen (I studied both piano and voice with Barbara for over 20 years) as she builds trust with her students and we always learn and grow under her tutelage. Many of her younger students have gone on to study piano or musical theater at the University level. One of her students even played piano for a former president at the White House!
