We recently had an appointment at UC Davis Medical Group - Elk Grove with Dr. E., and I honestly left feeling really grateful for the experience. One of the things that stood out the most was how much time she took to actually listen to my 11-year-old. Anyone with a pre-teen or teen knows how important that is. It's something to be said about a doctor who really sees and hears their patient--especially when that patient is a kid who's starting to find their voice. From the start, the whole visit ran smoothly. We arrived a few minutes early and were seen right away. The facility was very clean and organized, and once we were in the room, the doctor came in shortly after. Nothing about the appointment felt rushed, which is something I really appreciate in a medical setting. There was also a bit of a full-circle feeling for me being there. I've actually been coming to this facility since I was a teenager myself, so bringing my own child here now feels pretty special. Helpful tip: If you have a child or teen, encourage them to ask their own questions during the appointment. Dr. E really takes the time to listen and respond thoughtfully. About a year ago I came in to see Enrico Del Pozo because I had over a weekend suddenly gotten very ill, extremely fatigued, easily out of breath, lightheaded, nauseous, weak, shaky, and pale. He said fatigue is such a broad thing and there's not really anything to test for, and when I tried to give him more details he ignored or dismissed me. He also suggested the only other thing affecting my energy could be my mood. He reordered basic labs anyway and found I had low iron, then prescribed me iron supplements, but even on the supplements I was still getting worse by the day. My mom took me to urgent care, and when they couldn't figure out what was going on but could see how sick I was, told me to go to the ER. It turns out I was severely dehydrated and I felt so much better after having an IV. With how quickly I was deteriorating over the course of just a few days, I don't know what would've happened if I had listened solely to my provider when he said to just see him again in eight weeks. I never want to see him again for anything. After that experience of being dismissed, I'd rather see literally anyone than Del Pozo again, but there weren't any other doctors accepting patients at this clinic so I went to the only other place accepting patients, the residency at Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center in Sacramento, and as it turns out, the residents are LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than these poor excuses for doctors could ever be. The residents actually listen and care about you unlike the doctors here! My new PCP who's a resident, Dr. Jacob Reed, is so kind and knowledgeable and he's helped me to finally figure out what my "IBS-D" really was--Bile Acid Malabsorption! I'm on medication and for the first time in my life I don't need to worry about being within steps of a bathroom! That medication had me eating completely normally again within a week (even coffee!), it's a COMPLETE night and day difference! I can finally leave the house again and actually see my friends again! So because my years of gut issues were finally solved, I wanted to help my dad finally figure out HIS issues, too, because doctors have brushed off his issues for decades. I accompanied my dad to his GI appointment with Asha Gupta Cogdill to help advocate for his gut issues, which he's had his whole life, but have been getting progressively worse and worse the past 18 years. He has constant left-sided abdominal pain, every second of every day, from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to sleep every day, for the past 18 years. Growing up, I can't remember a time when he's ever been able to eat normally. He lives off of tiny little bites of protein bars throughout the day because anything more, even water, makes his left-sided abdominal pain worse. He's tried everything that's recommended of IBS (low FODMAP, probiotics, antidepressants, Linzess, Colace, Miralax, peppermint capsules, proton pump inhibitors) but nothing has helped at all. He's had a few tests that have come back clean, but I'm still concerned he might have something that's going unaddressed that isn't IBS and that, as his daughter, because I DO have Bile Acid Malabsorption (which isn't IBS) I was wondering if, since we're related, that maybe I inherited a condition like that from him? Asha Cogdill then said to me, in response to that, "I really think you're just grasping at straws". Excuse me? Is it so far-fetched that genetics are a thing? I asked about more testing anyway and she said she "didn't want to go down a rabbit hole of testing and testing" and she didn't want to give him a CT scan because of the "radiation". Seriously? I've had a CT scan without any issue for MY gut issues! She acts like a CT scan will kill you! But I guess she thinks it's better to throw things at a wall and see what sticks rather than find out what's actually going on? She prescribed PPIs again and suggested peppermint capsules "Heather's Tummy Tamers" are you kidding me? Is this a joke?! We waited 4 months for this appointment--we could've gotten the same advice from CVS' MinuteClinic! I heard Asha's leaving the practice, to that I say GOOD RIDDANCE! My dad also injured his pinky finger about a week ago, and although xrays ruled out fracture or dislocation, they showed a soft tissue injury, and he hasn't been able to straighten his finger since, but NO ONE has reached out to discuss treatment for this in any way, not even to tell him if he needs a splint. I'm worried if this isn't addressed soon it'll heal wrong and he'll never be able to fully extend his finger again. Why do we as the patients have to constantly hound the doctors to get ANYTHING done? The doctors never take any initiative, I don't understand what they're even there for! If you want my advice, DON'T even bother with this useless waste of time clinic with its dismissive, disrespectful doctors. See any of the residents at 4860 Y street instead, they're sweet and listen to you. My favorite is Dr. Reed, he's the best! read more

This UC Davis Medical Group is horrible. Doctors are hired and quit within months. Patients are never notified that they do not have an assigned doctor. You can never get an appointment within the same day or week. There upper management canceled telephone operators from finding patients appointments at different locations. Your wait times are 30 mins or more for nurse screening and scheduling or they just don't pickup the call at all. I'm don't with this medical Group and will be changing my membership today to the Roseville locations. They are professional, responsive and treat their patients with respect and curiosity. read more

Office visit were ok but its the after visit that has been my worst experience in life. It makes Kaiser look really good. Horrible billing and coding staff. High turnover doctors who are incompetent. If you have a high deductible plan, do not go here as their coding dept and doctors will mess it up. I have to fight with them to change it back to the correct code every year for my wellness check up which is free thru my insurance if they can code it correctly. read more

I gave it 4 STARS only because there is no such thing as perfect anything. The care we've had at UCD/EG is the best.! The facility is always clean, plenty of parking, never crowded. Staff is attentive and basically no waiting more than 10 minutes. The down side is having to drive all the way to downtown for special services. We live south of Galt so it is quite a drive to downtown. But other than that, we are very happy with UCD. read more

I was prescribed Wegovy by my Primary Care Provider at UC Davis Primary Care in Elk Grove. Unbeknownst to me at the time Wegovy had a graduated dose due to the side effects. The provider ordered all of the graduated doses with dates except for the highest dose of 2.4 milligrams. Again, I was not aware that all doses of the medication except for the largest dose was on back order. CVS gave me the highest dose, and within hours after taking I started projectile vomiting for 36 hours non stop. I left a message with my primary care only to learn that she would be away for the week. At that point I scheduled a telephone visit and upon checking in I saw the order which demonstrated that I should have taken the dose of .25 milligrams not 2.4, it appears that both CVS and my primary care dropped the ball. In any event I was prescribed Zofran. At the same time I needed an IV. Again I called the advice nurse and was told to call Poison Control. I went to the ED at Kaiser and was given Iv fluids and had labs drawn. Since this medication can't be stopped abruptly so once again, I reached out to primary care, and didn't get a response. Finally, I left a message that whoever was covering needed to call and advise me or I was going to CDPH and file a failure to treat complaint. After this I received a call and was informed that I could stop the medication. It has now been 3 weeks and I still can't eat without getting diarrhea. I have not heard a word from my primary care.As a health care professional I am so disappointed in the poor care and zero follow-up that I received. It appears that no one cares, and I plan to escalate this to prevent this happening to anyone else. I would not recommend this practice. read more

I have been at Uc Davis for many years now, and I have zero complaints with ANY provider I have seen here. My primary care physician is Dr. Sarah Louie and she is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I don't know what I would do without her, she has the best bedside manner. She listens and is just so sweet! I can't express enough what an amazing doctor she is. Every other provider I have seen when she is not available has also been great. I will say they are very busy, if you need an appt I would recommend booking in advanced but while some appts can't wait any provider will be amazing. I will say one thing coming from dental background working as a registered dental assistant and working front, the front office receptionist are very unpleasant. read more

I've been going here for several years now and have no major complaints. As an introvert who tries avoiding phone calls when possible, I appreciate having the option to schedule my appointment via MyChart. However, it takes at least two business days to hear back, which has been longer before when my request got overlooked. Same day visits require calling in early in the morning to check availability, but it looks like they JUST launched the feature to do it online. Woo! Since being part of the UCDMG family in Elk Grove, I've had a couple of my primary physicians leave, so I would be notified of my reassignment via mail. I personally don't visit the doctor often and don't feel a personal connection to my doctor, so it doesn't bother me too much. This may be a problem for some people though! There's a lab on-site, which is convenient for blood work and x-rays. Service may not be the quickest depending on how busy things get, but they get the job done. Blood test results get uploaded to MyChart, which is great as well. Aside from that, the people I've encountered at the office (receptionists, nurses, doctors) are all really friendly. I don't usually need a doctor visit very often but twice in the last year I have had serious health problems I felt I couldn't manage at home. I have been a patient at UCD Elk Grove for 20+ years with no complaints. But this year I feel completely abandoned by their system. There are no available appointments for months. There is no Urgent Care. They want to dump you by calling 911 or heading to the ER. They don't answer their phone (during regular business hours) when you are referred to your GP's office. You stay on hold forever. They are obviously severely understaffed. As a health care provider they are absent. If you can get into seeing a doctor, they are caring and great. But their system blocks you from getting the care you need. read more

Those reviews should bring the average up to 3.5 to 4 stars. Anyways, I've never had a problem with UC Davis in Elk Grove. They are among the best medical offices I have been to. Scheduling an appointment is always easy and I'm able to find a time that meets mine & the children's schedule. Upon entering the building, there are antibacterial foam and face mask to protect yourself. The facility is clean and the staff are friendly. There's typically a line waiting to check in and there's a short 10 minute wait before seeing the Doctor. The multiple Doctors, Nurses, and staff I & my children have interacted with listen to my questions and knowledgable in answering them. read more

Dr. Lie (Lou) spent a lot of extra time explaining scientifically how the digestive system and good/bad bacteria play a role and more. He stays informed on all up to date research and actually seemed to care. I'm trying to switch all of my health care to UC Davis. Better doctors and you have "my health" so you can see all appointments, test results and even email your doctor all from your phone/computer and they directly respond. UC Davis medical group has been my family health care service provider for over 15 years and now that my kids are put to the Elk Grove location the service has gone down hill. Went in to get more information about travel shot for my son. Was told that his pcp will get a referral out for him later. Which works for us. Later that day I get a call from the office telling me that they do not do travel shot at this location ( which is understandable) but was also told that the downtown clinic does not give shots to minor. ????? That strange cause they always did before. Why the change I'm not sure, but I didn't second guess it. Thought the employee know what they were talking about. (Went downtown for my nurse visit and got my shot with no problem that same day ) The employee on the phone told me that since my son is a minor he has to go to an outsource travel clinic for his shot. She told me that she was unsure if my insurance will cover it and that most likely I will have to pay out of pocket. I call the outsource clinic and was told there is a $60.00 consultation fee for the workup and $130.00 for the actual shot and they aren't sure if my insurance will reimburse me even though they cover my shot already. So I call my insurance and they said they will cover my son's shot and that to need to get the PCP to put in a referral. I also call the UC Davis Travel clinic and was told the same thing. To get his PCP to send over a referral and yes they do administer shots to minors. So I call the clinic back and the employee that help me tried to say they already told me what I needed to do for his shot. So I had to explain to her everything again twice before she was like ok I will have the doctor send over a referral. WTH, UC Davis. Get your information correct. You are dealing with people lives, if you don't know the right answer find out and stop being lazy and using excuses. read more

I love UC Davis Medical Group in Davis but the Elk Grove Group is just terrible!!!!!!! The doctors are good, but making an appointment or even receiving accurate information is next to impossible!! I started calling them at 8:03 this morning. Every time I got the automated message that says to push 2 to make an appointment. When I pushed 2 it hung up on me! Finally at 10:04 I gave up and pushed 1 as if I was a doctor. A very nice woman transferred me to the appointment desk where I sat on hold for 43 minutes and 26 seconds before it was finally answered by a receptionist who then told me I had the flu and they don't have any appointments available for me. I don't think a receptionist should be diagnosing patients over the phone. I have an autoimmune disease so even the flu is incredibly dangerous. The fact that I can't get in to see a doctor is unacceptable. I wish this was the first bad experience that I've had with them but unfortunately, every time I need to make an appointment something goes wrong. From the receptionist telling me a different time than the appointment was scheduled for, to the doctor I see not being the one I make the appointment with, to going to my flu shot appointment and them not having the vaccine. The lack of professionalism and competency on the part of the office staff directly stems from the office manager Jaime and his lack of a work ethic! He would rather operate in crisis mode than take a proactive approach to having a well run office. If my rhuematologist wasn't amazing, I would drop UC Davis Medical Group entirely, but he is wonderful and I'm not willing to risk my overall chronic illness health. She had a very, "it's your fault" attitude when i asked about why my appointment was switched to this location. At the end of the call she yelled at me to call downtown and hung up on me. SO RUDE. Went for lab service. Check in was easy and ok customer service. The worst came my name call to draw blood..... This lady left me at chair for more than 5 minutes.......I am waiting waiting ...next window 2 person got done and left and still waiting. Finally she show up took forever to prepare.....my god it hurt. After done I am holding the cotton ball and she try tie bendage I slip finally 2 try it was done. After years of having a PCP medical insurance I was beginning to lose hope in the medical system all together. 1- nobody knows my name, yes I can choose my own doctor but how do I know what specialist is good over another and why? 2-there is just a generall coldness because well it seems you have 15 minutes and you better get it all out in the count down 3.... 2... 1..your OUTTA there. So I happened upon this clinic because well I ended up in the emergency room of UCD one cold dark night and the doctors there actually listened to me...YES YOU HEARD RIGHT...they listened. Now comes the good part- you can actually walk into the lab and they will take you right away~giggle~ yes they do...as much as I hate getting blood drawn I just sache'd right in and next thing I knew ..I was headed out the door with a piece of rolled up cotton in my elbow joint. for this alone "5" stars. read more

I need to provide a rating for some aspects of this clinic Making an appointment with a doctor: 3 stars, if I were to wrote this review 6 months ago, it would have been 0.5 or 1.0. They used to have looonnnnggg wait times (almost waited 15 mins before) on the phone to make an appointment but it has gotten much better Physician rating: 4 stars. The doctors here do listen to you and give you good advice in comparison to other medical offices in Elk Grove. Don't see my doctor much since he is a new doctor of mine, the last one moved..but so far so good. Facility: 4 stars, clean Receptionist:3.8, overal very nice. they need to have better staffing Lab appointments: I have to agree with the other person's review. It is very disappointing that after you made an appt with the doctor or seen the doctor, you have to make another appointment for a lab. More hours to take off work. The lab technicians are nice but there is somebody that works at the front office of the Lab department that seems like she always has a bad day. Bad enough, we're the ones sick and will get poke with needles and get multiple tube of blood out of us, we still have to deal with a person that is very grumpy to greet you and help you with the appointment. The facility itself is lacking. The two communal waiting areas are not designated for one field or another, so I have to sit with my immunio suppressed baby boy next to every cranky old fart with a cold. Two stars because this is 100 times easier to navigate than the BS office that our pediatrician was at before at the UPA. Oh and the staff here are at least not rude and snarky as that been at our ped's previous location. The front desk staff have a far too casual approach, though. There's neither a sense of authority or of customer service. Our nurses, on the other hand are great... So it gets 3 stars. Our pediatrician... Well she takes forever and we can wait sometimes for well over an hour. So by the time she arrives, my boy is maxed out from all that time of being restricted from touching or doing anything. On the flip side: we seem to get ample time for our visit and questions. It would all be worth it if his medical records were accurate. I'm going in today to clear some crap up and it's devastating that the inaccuracies are there and how they could affect his care down the road. That garbage takes away the third star. I have been coming to this location for almost 7 years now. The facility is always clean and quiet. The front desk staff is pleasant and move as quickly as they can. I have seen a couple different doctors in this office but Dr. David Lee and Dr. Breen are by far the best. The staff is great, the MAs, LVNs that work in conjunction with the doctors, are really sweet and provide a relaxing environment for some of those not so fun visits (ladies you know what I mean). lol read more

I went here in 2016 for my prenatal checkups. My doctor, Dr. Stein, was wonderful. I had a pleasant experience with reception and the nurses. I had my delivery via c section at UC Davis hospital and received wonderful care. I would do it all over again if I had to. read more

Counter staff actually worse because you can watch their indifference. PPO patients treated like HMO patients - Internal Referral Review and 7 day delay. Is this even legal? UC Davis uses the advertising slogan: "Patient Centered Care" -- WHAT A GROSS MISREPRESENTATION! COGNITIVE DISSONANCE ABOUNDS. Caveat Emptor. Watch out! . I can't blame the staff - "A fish starts to smell from its head." Who ever is in charge of the administrative operations at UC Davis needs a wake-up call - 'cause they're obviously asleep. Clinical Staff, just the opposite. How these two groups work in the same building amazes me. I've spent 70 minutes on the phone so far today. And, I've been hung up on 4 times. I suspect that when the call volume gets high, they just hang up so that their average wait time is less than 30 minutes. Just like the VA. I like this facility because it is closer to home in Elk Grove, with convienent and free parking. Unlike the UCD hospital and the Ellison Ambulatory buliding, where patients have to park in garages and pay parking fees. Yes, it is only 2 dollars when validated but those 2 dollars add up, especially for patients on limited income. The doctors have been nothing but impressive, at least the ones whom I have taken my mom to see. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Ever since I transferred from Kaiser two years ago because my employer discontinued their contract with Kaiser, we were all directed towards UC Davis Medical Center and I have had nothing but problems with them. When I first started with them, I had severe stomach pain and they told me I needed to get surgery and referred me over to Dr.Vidovski. During our consultation, Dr.Vidovski told me to show up 30 minutes early and I showed up 45 minutes early to be on the safe side. However, he did not show up until 1.5 hours after our scheduled time because he was running late from his appointment. He said he wanted to conduct other tests before proceeding with the surgery. For the next eight months, we ran tests on me (which cost thousands of dollars out of pocket even with insurance) and then I stopped receiving calls from his office. I waited two weeks (remember this is eight months after me passing out from stomach pain and I'm still in pain) and finally called them. They said I was now low priority and told me to consult my primary doctor. Then the case was dropped. I scheduled an appointment to ask Vidovski what happened and guess who was late by an hour again? Today, I got a call from the podiatry office saying they're located in Citrus Heights. I asked about scheduling and they gave me a hard time about it and Christine gave me so much attitude and said "You have a PPO. You are not bound by us and can go somewhere else." I've been referred by numerous people to go to Mercy because their treatment is top notch. If you're with UC Davis, expect to do everything yourself. You'll have to call them, wait for them to call you back, then wait some more before they schedule you for an appointment. You have to continuously call back for results and call to see where to go from there. They don't guide you or care about your well being. I miss Kaiser but I've heard nothing but good things about Mercy and after two years, am ready to switch over and get actual care. The only good thing about UC Davis Med Center is that they have the friendliest check-in associates. That I will miss. read more

You need an appointment for their lab. If your doc requires any of the lab services you now need to make an appointment and come back later. This is absurd. One of the phlebotomists is really rude. If she can't find your vein, she gets nasty with you. I also had a lame doctor there. Not all are bad, but mine was. He would disregard my concerns before ever examining me. This review is for Dr. Liu. I needed an appointment and the locations closer to my home were all booked till June or the end of June. I was able to get into the Elk Grove location the next day. I wasn't looking forward to the 40 minute drive, however I am so glad I came to this location. I highly recommend Dr. Liu! He is amazing and took the time to talk to me about my autoimmune issues. He recommend a better probiotic to me that is way cheaper then the one I am buying. He didn't rush me at all and I loved that he took the time to take to me about my other health issues that had nothing to do with the gyno portion. I will continue to come to this location just to see him. Such a nice and caring man. His nurse was very sweet as well and very friendly. It was completely worth the drive! read more

Very Good Clinic...There are on top of things for the most part- Baby Boy has many visits already and the only frustrating thing is going there many times due to him being sick. Dislikes is the waiting- I know sometimes they get backed up sometimes but they call you in but you'll be waiting for the Doctor longer than the check up. I would give it 5 stars if it seemed like there weren't understaffed and a little more caring. My wife and I agree its much better than Kaiser though. Is it just me but I rather go to Clinic and be treated like family instead of a fastfood chain (straight in and out). But overall they are better than average. read more

I live in Sacramento, but chose this satellite clinic in Elk Grove (instead of the main hospital) due to a lack of doctors taking new patients. I don't mind the drive out to Elk Grove (20 - 30 min. from work). I now have a good doctor who is pretty available when I need an appointment. He's open to my bringing in my own research and discussing it with him (I do use academic medical sites, so he's more willing to discuss the information). read more

My doctor doesn't know who i am at all, and i always end up waiting longer for my appointment than the time my appointment will actually take. In order to schedule an appointment, i have to wait for 20 minutes just to speak to somebody. My doctor is always booked months in advance, so i never get to see my doctor, i'm always in the care of a physicians assistant. Whenever i do request to speak to my doctor, i'm always called back by a representative. I have seen my doctor maybe once in my 3 years of going to the clinic. They always call for appointment confirmation after hours, and if you call back after hours, they wont be able to help you with anything. This is the truth- My primary left this location and was replaced with Dr. Tamara Robinson. She instantly stopped filling my medicine, that I had been taking for about 6 months, and wanted to put me on anti-depressents, horrible nasty woman. And I had a female gyno Alison breen, who I went to because of all the pain I was experiencing ( I have ovarian cysts) and told her what I was doing to help the pain and she laughed at me and said nice try... no ultra sound NOTHING. and after telling her specifically I do not have 2 different things and that I did not wanted to be tested for those things she did it anyway and charged my insurance over a $1000. guess what- tests were negative but now I have to pay the remaining balance. nice office, doctors are nice but they are always in a rush, they can only give you 15 minutes of their time, i was diagnosed right but the doctors always seems they are rushing and i was actually told that sorry only one major diagnosis per visit,and i was told sorry you have to make another appointment for any other issues, does that seem right????????????? read more
