The team drove all the way out to Hot Springs from Garner--a 5+ hour drive--the morning of the event to start setting up hours before the guests arrived, remaining in contact the whole time despite only spotty cell-phone service (we were in the middle of the mountains). When there was an issue with the power supply at the venue, Trey Richardson kept everyone involved calm and saved the ceremony, delivering a flawless soundtrack that included spot-on timing for a rather tricky recessional. After the ceremony, he and Brittany Sanderford kept the party alive and rockin' the whole night, again with spot-on timing for the cake cutting and dances. I wasn't sure our guests were the kind that liked to dance, but Metal-Ward got nearly everyone shaking their stuff on the dance floor--one guest even danced with the DJ himself! Karaoke was a huge hit, and to top things off, the DJ even participated in an impromptu acoustic guitar jam session with some of the guests! The most professionally done sound for any event I've ever been to, and under such crazy circumstances--Metal-Ward came through and then some. He was…read moreflexible with my busy schedule and with my off-the-wall music ideas (lord knows how many vocal stacks he tuned only for me to change things up on him the next meeting, thank you and I'm so sorry lol). This was my first time recording outside of my own home studio, let alone with another person, so I had a LOT of learning to do. Dick not only was patient as I figured out the protocols, but also took the time to instruct me on how to be better prepared, how to turn out better mixes, and overall best studio practices. He knows that time is money, and would often point out the things I could be doing at home to make things run more efficiently/have less work to do in the studio itself. He is also able to make fun and interesting suggestions for subtle effects and enhancements that I never would have known about, and that really elevate your music to the next level. I feel like I came out on the other side with great mixes and a LOT more knowledge--not a bad deal, especially considering the price point! It's worth noting also that Dick has a lot of great "studio cats" for guitar, drums, bass, piano, organ, etc. who don't just 'fill in' other instrumentation as needed, but are truly masterful and make it sound amazing! One thing to be careful of is the scheduling. The studio can be busy, and weekends are booked far in advance! If you're like me and working a full time job where you can't take a lot of time off without advance notice, it may be worth setting out a recording schedule far in advance--as long as you have the drive to stick to it, so you're not wasting that precious studio time. All in all, a great experience.
