The theatre itself is upstairs as you walk in and the bar area, which you have to go past to get there, is pretty good too. Very important when going to see amateur dramatics, of course. The building is Victorian so has the right monumental air about it for such works or the-atre. The stage is really big. One of my favourite memories is seeing Oliver here a few years ago when a friend of a friend simply owned the stage on his own as Fagin. They also have a lot of music on here, boasting past performances from no less than Elbow (who are from the town), Joy Division and the Pixies. Not bad, not bad. I'd say grab a drink or bite to eat in the adjoining Automatic restaurant and bar before heading in for some home grown entertainment in the Met.

A nice little play gym for young children, aimed more towards babies and toddlers than the over 5s…read more My niece had her 3rd birthday party there this summer and had a great time, she wasn't interested in playing party games she just wanted to jump on the trampoline. They provide food for the children at the party which saves you the hassle of organising it yourself, but again the kids really just wanted to play rather than eat. One thing the place seriously lacks though is air-con, it was during summer and there were lots of very red little faces after all the running around in the suffocating heat! The staff could've been a little more enthusiastic too, they were young girls who really looked like they couldn't be bothered to be there.

The place is clean and well stocked with play equipment and toys. It is great for babies to pre schoolers as there is so much choice for them. The food is exceptionally good and the prices are even better. This is a great place to socialise with the kids, there are tables and chairs to sit and eat. They do super parties, the cheapest but best around. I would recommend this playgym to anyone with young children. Excellent.

Coming up for its 20th year anniversary, the WYP has plenty to be proud about; two theatres, The Quarry and The Courtyard, a gallery, a workshop venue, a bar, a restaurant, and a costume hire department. Wow. Impressive or what. It really is a nice modern space inside, and the minute you approach the doors you are greeted by very welcoming staff that don't do the saccharine over the top type greetings, but more inform you of what is happening, what's open and if you're interested what's going on right now and what's to come. Sitting in stark comparison to the Leeds Grand, the West Yorkshire Playhouse is a lovely alternative to the traditional theatre venues without being so anti-tradition that the concept and enjoyment of the theatre is ruined. Technical wise it's a good sound venue, acoustics are grand, viewing is good, legroom isn't as snug as some venues are, which is always a plus point. Also, for all of you budding theatre goers under the age of 26, West Yorkshire Playhouse is a part of the A Night Less Ordinary scheme, whereby companies who are signed up offer free tickets on select shows for free. How awesome.

The sound quality was good for us as we were fairly near the front. Nice little bar area, pretty basic but good quality products. The staff are friendly and efficient. Drinks can be pre ordered for the interval and the system works efficiently. Lovley little kiosk selling sweeties,popcorn etc and not at over inflated prices. A lovley Theatre which is gradually being refurbished sympathetically. Loads of Parking nearby. Would definitely go again.

The room was like an oventhere are no fans or air conditioning and the windows don't open. There were so many people in there, it was so so hot. The decor in the bar is vile. This is a beautiful theatre and to me, should be decorated in rich colours to show the Victorian splendour, not disgusting plain green colouranyway thats just my personal taste. It is worth a visit if there is a show on you fancygood little theatre.

They show full length and one act plays, junior and youth group productions, musicals, cabaret and jazz evenings. Wednesdays are when they have their social evening and rehearsals for musicals. Plus, they welcome new members and I've seen many of my friends have tons of fun in the chorus or even, in some cases, a lead role. The age range of the people involved in all aspects of the production is pretty amazing too - everyone can let out their inner diva. Fond memories include Dracula Spectacular and collaborations with the Met Theatre in Bury. A relatively new venture in the way of artistic spaces and venues, but it is pretty damn good. It's constantly gaining momentum, and currently there are projects going a ahead for budding film makers, artists, musicians and creative types. Seven relies on funding and sponsorship, which is good news for the local business who wish to hire out rooms for conferences and business meetings, as all money generated from the room hires goes back in to funding more arts projects. Seven also has it's own bar, Bar Seven, which is a cool place to spend before a show, or just to go in and have a drink with some friends, as it's open from mid morning til midnight. Oh yes, the events, there are many to choose from, acoustic nights, plays, comedy nights, art exhibitions, workshops and being super festive there's a Valentine's night this Sunday, with a Buenos Aires, film set, dinner and dance spectacle vibe, with tickets at £20 a head. Housing about 100 in capacity, Seven offers an intimate setting which can be a welcome change from bigger venues, especially for plays and acoustic performances. And there's the added satisfaction that your money is going back into the production of more fabulous art events.

The Host and Compere 'Silky' aways makes it feel like the show is just for you, Picks the best of touring comedy, and new acts,,, occasionally runs over, so if you're on the bus,, make sure you have the taxi fare home. If you go there you know you'll get quality comedy, not for the faint hearted. And of course 7 Arts is a cracking venue with good beer. so what's not to like.

I have…read morein recent history had the pleasure of going to two events, a stand up/live music gig and a Kino short film event. I've fallen in love with 3MT! The place has so much character with the walls adorning various art and posters of events past/present/future. The acoustics are incredible for music and it's just the perfect size for it to be called an "intimate" venue. I was so impressed with the gig I went to the first time, I recorded three of the songs and the response on Vimeo and Youtube has been incredible. Much of that is down to the incredible lighting and sound the call theatre creates. The Kino shorts event ( http://kinofilm.org.uk/category/kino-shorts/ ) was an altogether different affair. A brilliant networking event for film makers with some great films and some hilarious Q & As. The drinks selection at the bar isn't great but the size and nature of the menu makes up for it. Three Minute Theater? The name itself is so interesting that it caught my attention but after…read moreattending one of their events I was bowled! If you are a theater fan and would like to see some brilliant performances from locals in Manchester then this is something you should not give a miss. Run by some wonderful, creative people who have a passion for life, art and everything Manchester. It is a great place for budding actors, writers and directors too because this could you your platform to meet people from the same industry and probably get involved. The plays are short and sweet and so very creative. Its strange how independent bodies like this are not as popular as they should be, same with independent cinema I guess. The environment is so warm and non pretentious that you can go alone and watch a play if you have no one to go with because you will land up coming out of there with a new friend! Verdict: Highly reccommended for all art lovers!
