It provides me with the opportunity to stock up on some great organic veg and meat as well as some great jams and local honey. The latter is an essential ingredient in every allergy suffers kitchen... eating honey that is grown locally can diminish the effects of hay-fever as well as a host of other allergies. The fact that the Farmers Market is in the car-park at Arthur John's is an absolute boon! Arthur John's is possibly the best hardware shop in the known universe, and I love visiting it, even if I don't have anything specific to buy. I always come out with a couple of items that I have been meaning to get, but always forget to purchase when I'm on a shopping mission elsewhere. If tools float your boat, this is a DIYers heaven! The prices are incredibly cheap considering the quality of the stock available. The Farmers Market isn't as cheap, but the quality of the goods is second to none! We followed the directions and found ourselves on a long dirt road that seemed to go on forever, but we finally made it to Taverners Farm and the much-anticipated Orange Elephant Ice Cream Parlour. It's actually a nice place, with loads of room indoors for groups of people and screaming kids high on sugar. There are some seats outside for sunny days, and plenty of parking. We thought there would be more choice of ice cream flavours, and were keen to try the 2014 award-winning salted caramel, but it was unavailable. Still, we went for two-scoop chocolate waffle cones (about £7) and enjoyed them. But this is no Marshfield Farm Ice Cream.

At the back, there is a type of table top sale with antiques, toys, clothes and furniture. The vendors are friendly and a lot of the food stalls have free samples - much to my children's delight! Don't be afraid of haggling. There are lots of bargains to be had.

Popular all day with familes, couples and retired couples, the Trevathan is a popular restaurant. They serve the biggest cakes I have ever seen, some triple or even quadrupled layered - coffee and chocolate cake amongst others. A good selection of breakfasts, snacks and lunches too. The cooked breakfast was both tasty and filling. Theres outside seating too, but unfortunately on every day we visited it was bucketing down with rain! Trevathan is also a place where you can pick your own strawberries, gooseberries and raspberries. There's even some motorised tractors and a digger for the children. A great place for families.

A huge variety of local food can be found here. Local meat (pork, chicken, beef, lamb, goat) , fish & shrimp, cheese (amazing); maple syrup, honey, seeds, squash, micro-greens, cabbages, fresh baked bread, local legumes, soap, eggs, fingerling potatoes, candy, coffee, and more. Live music too. To be expected the prices are high, but hey its local and high quality. One thing bad was that it was WAY too crowded. It was in the High School cafeteria. Could it be moved to the gym? Also by 11:00am many of the popular vendors was running out of items, like Eastmans fish (ran out of cod fish).

We pulled over on the way back from Cornwall, initially just for a coffee. However, the amazing garden centre and food hall just cried out for a rummage and I instantly knew I wouldn't be leaving empty handed. If it wasn't for the already full-to-bursting car, I would certainly have purchased more. As it was, I had to settle for some locally milled flour for my new bread making hobby and some salted caramel cookies. The farm shop is the size of a supermarket and has a huge variety of quality local produce. If I lived locally, I would shop here all the time. We sat outside and enjoyed teas and coffees, and my friends ordered sandwiches to take away. The service was really friendly here and it was a lovely spot to escape the traffic for a wee while.

we have just come back from your cafe after going for lunch,i have to say we were not impressed,i…read morecan understand that they were very busy,but i really think more staff are needed,we were told there would be a 30min wait which we were fine with but it was an hour before we got our meal,a cheddar ploughmans and toasted cheese and tomato sandwich,the ploughmans was really disappointing not worth the money one quite thin slice of bread cut in half,and two thin slices of cheese,not what i would call a ploughmans,we are local to the area,i would not go for lunch again,nor would i recommend anyone else to
