I went to the brow bar, advised I like my natural brow line and just needed them cleaned up and tinted. We discussed not going too dark because it would be too harsh, and talked at length about enhancing natural beauty and not looking fake and like a plastic doll with fake features. Apparently what she heard was give me Sharpie eyebrows. My eyebrows look like they were drawn on, like the smiley face from the 70's. Boo! Way to prove your lack of active listening and critical thinking skills. My eyebrows USED to have a natural wider end by the nose, and natural thinning towards my ears. Now it's perfectly even from nose to ear. A colleague compared them to a Sharpie marker. read more

Went to this store last night with my child. Looking to have a girls night and you would not believe the customer service I received from these women! I had some items to return and also had a basket full of products I had planned to purchase. I had my receipt with me and I also had just bought the items a few days before. When I simply asked to have the money returned to the Original account, they became disrespectful on a level IVE NEVER EVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE! My child was there so I was trying not to get confrontational however when the store MANAGER decided to make fun of my situation and humiliate me in front of my child, I decided enough was enough. I remained respectful but firm on the fact that I did not want a store gift card but I wanted my money returned to the original pay method. She then decided once all the customers were gone to then get loud with me. When I told her I was going to report this incident she then wanted to wait until the end of my return to try and make it sound like nothing happened, I WILL BE CALLING CORPORATE AND I WILL BE GIVING NAMES and NO I WILL NOT BE SHOPPING AT THIS LOCATION AGAIN! I asked India and she said she put it down but it was gone today and she thought i cancelled. I'm so disappointed as I have plans for the evening and really wanted my hair done. I brought my daughter here so she can spend her gift card. I was pleasantly surprised of how organized the products by brand and purpose. It's a little bit overwhelming if you're new to makeup like me. However, there were plenty of sales associates to provide you assistance. The prices of some of the items were not bad as long as you're not into a specific brand, the store also has sales or reduced price spread all throughout the store. The store seemed clean, and there were papers to sample perfumes, cotton balls to clean up your sample makeup and even a jar of coffee beans to clean your sense of smell when sampling perfumes. The wait on the checkout was fast and efficient, there were several cashiers open due to the after holiday shopping frenzy. Our cashier seemed friendly and has a ready smile. It does makes a difference when the person waiting on you seemed to enjoy their job and personable to costumers. read more

Normally I would not take the time to review a big box retail store but having heard so many great things about Ulta and being in need for a shishedo eyelash curler I ventured to Florence KY, Ulta. The store is far larger than other competitors but it is filled with basically the same beauty products as Walmart mixed with benefit, too faced, Clinique, and some hairdryers - basically. The products are not priced correctly. For example two face masks which were located in the coordinating compartment were priced at $2.99 but rang up 9.99. No attempt to look into the matter. Another product was buy one get one 40% off but didn't ring up correctly. The cashier couldn't do math or offer an adjustment. The only eyelash curler was revlon, a tweezerman and the Ulta brand. I bought the revlon opened it and threw it in the trash. Garbage. Went to sephora and bought the curler that Ulta was supposed to carry in stores. The brands in Ulta are nothing special. The lighting is dim and depressing, the store associates are the typical aloof and dispassionate employees found anywhere. Hard pass. read more

I went in with horrible orange/yellow bleached hair. Kristine was my stylist, she was super nice and easy to talk to and assured she was able to fix my hair. She took her time and knew exactly what she was doing. It took a total of 5 hours to finish my hair and I could not be happier, she is amazing at what she does. I highly recommend. read more

I used to love going to this store! Lately everyone seems unhelpful and are bothered by you being there. When I went in I was going to get my brows done. I walked around the counter about 20 times waiting to be helped. I finally went to the girl ringing people up and she paged someone. Nobody ever came. I grabbed someone else and they walked me back to book an appointment at the salon??? Ok maybe things have changed. After I waited in line back there I was sent back to the front because I didn't need an appointment back there. Back to the brow bar again! Waited and waited and after being in the store for over an hour with NO help I finally left. Pretty ridiculous since this is the only place I come to get them done. Now I have to find a new place. read more

I've shopped at the store for several years and I've never had that bad of an experience. But today I walked in to get a new facial cleanser. The associate that helped me assured me that she was the number one associate in the entire region so that's why I should trust her (odd thing to say, but okay). Anyway all I wanted was one facial cleanser and she tried to sell me almost $200 worth of product. And I get it--that's her job, she's in sales. But when I said "that's more than I would like to spend I'm really just interested in this cleanser", she said "well we're out", ran over my daughter, and then walked away to help someone else. When I tried to ask her another question she stared at me and said "nope we are out". It's just astonishing how rude she was because I didn't want to spend that much in the first place. read more

Out of 5 shades of shape tape. Out of all colors of the tarte eyebrow gel. When I asked a worker what's up with everything out of stock she said "get the benefit brow gel it's #1 in the country." Edit: if you don't want to read every detail of my review simply look at my pictures as they are proof of what this girl did to my hair. The refunded money I got was spent at another salon on color corrections. This review is entirely about the Salon and the Stylist Gina. ------ I came in Thursday at 1pm for a Full Highlight and Haircut by Gina. My regrowth was about 6-7 inches, but I have been getting Full Highlights infrequently since I was 16 and have had regrowth of many lengths that stylists have had no issues with. So Gina foils my hair in about an hour and sits me under a dryer for about 15 minutes, and then she then pulls out the foils and washes my hair. As she was drying my hair she notices that my regrowth is darker than the blonde on my ends. So she adds about 6 or so more foils to the hair framing my face. While those sit she gives another lady a hair cut. After about 20 minutes she pulls the foils out and washes those pieces of hair and waxes my eye brows. She realizes that the hair is still too dark and adds another set of about 6 foils framing my face and also freely brushes the hair color on pieces of my hair that still look too dark or brassy. While those foils are in she cuts another girls hair. She then takes out those foils, washes and dries, and straightens my hair. She asked what kind of cut I wanted and I told her I didn't want to take any length off but I wanted to add layers and wanted side swoop bangs. After 5 hours, she shows me only the front of my hair, which in Ultas lighting looked yellower than I wanted, but she assured me a few uses of a purple shampoo would help that. This all cost me $220 total. I did tip her $20. ----- Fast forward to coming home I inspect my hair further because I didn't totally love the yellow color. Looking closely in the mirror at home I saw major issues which I'll list: 1) I still had roots showing! 2) She ignored all the fine hairs around my face and ears so I had brown hair there still. 3) The hair on the back of my head from root to 6 inches down was a dark brassy blonde and then the rest of it was light blonde. 4) I had brassy streaks all through out my hair. 5) Lifting sections of my hair showed the unevenness of color and areas of my hair that were missed. 6) MY HAIR CUT WAS CROOKED. The left side is shorter than the right, and it does not appear she even added layers to the right side of my hair! 7) I wanted side swooped bangs and what it looks like she did was grab a piece of my front hair and chopped it straight across. ----- I came in Sunday after speaking with the manager over the phone about a refund. She said they do not give out refunds so I came into the store to show the manager my hair. I know over the phone I probably sounded like a customer who changed their mind about the service and was just trying to get their money back but I wanted my money back because Gina did a horrific job (see my pictures). The manager offered to have another stylist work on my hair. At this point I have no trust in this Ulta Salon. At no point did they agree with me or admit that my hair looked like a hot mess. How could I feel comfortable letting them work on my hair when they wouldn't even admit Gina screwed up? The manager left to call her higher ups and when she came out she was able to give me a refund. So blondes beware! read more

I was having a service done in cosmetics and I overheard a manager nearby criticizing every single person walking in the store. She was loud enough for me to hear 10-12ft away. It was so unprofessional and upsetting to the ladies working. I said something about how unprofessional it was and they both apologized to me several times for having to overhear it. This Manager has no business in management and creating such an unpleasant atmosphere to work. Attention ULTA! read more

They also often don't have the products advertised in the emails I get from Ulta, which is really disappointing when you've made a trip especially for that item. But! I wish no stars was an option because one is too generous. Worst customer service I have yet to experience. I went in with high hopes to get a nice ashy blonde. I ended up with completely yellow, dried out hair. I DO NOT recommend wasting your money at this salon. --FULL STORY-- I'll add the picture I showed my stylist (Alysia, the Salon Manager) what I wanted when I first sat down in the chair. She didn't really inform me of the process, how long it will take, nothing. She just went to work. Personally I feel more comfortable and feel more like the stylist knows what they're doing when they explain to me the process. But that's far from the point of this. The time it took to finish was about four hours, the whole time I was listening to the employees yelling across the store to each other, talking about getting drunk and coming into work hungover, excessive swearing, and talking about other employees in an unprofessional manner. After she did whatever she did to my hair she started to dry it. Right off the bat I saw it was VERY yellow and not at all the ashy color I wanted. I even told her before she first started that the main thing I wanted was the grayish ashy color. She went on saying how well it turned out and how it has such a nice dimension to it. I didn't mention that it was yellow to her I just paid ($174) and left. After I got into my car and was inspecting my hair more I hated it. She did a horrible job. The dimension she mentioned previously was just darker yellow strands. I decided to go back to the store, show them my hair, and ask what could be done. They said I can come back another day to get it redone. A couple days later I went back in to a stylist named Gina. The whole appointment her and another employee were going on about my hair and how bad alysia did. I 100% agree but found it very unprofessional. Gina bleached my hair once again, darkened my roots, and added some toner. I don't have any pictures of when she "fixed" it. But it ended about the same, just slightly less yellow. The next day I woke up to yellow hair once again. I do have pictures of my hair a day or two after it got "fixed." I went back to the store to get a refund and the employee told me that they do one of two things with the salon, you either get it redone or you get a refund. However I was not offered those options I was just told it can be redone. I would have gone with the refund initially. I went through an over drawn out process with that situation but ended up getting a refund. When I went back to the store to get it the employees made no eye contact with me, didn't smile, and had a very rude tone when speaking. I ended up going to another hair salon and finding out that they turned my hair slightly green, and bleached my hair too much and now the cuticles of my hair are shot. My hair can't hold any color, even toner, so it will be yellow and orange til it grows out, unless I get it died once a week. They also had to cut off a couple inches of my hair because the bottoms were fried. DO NOT. WASTE. YOUR MONEY. read more

I went in today to get my brows waxed and shaped up. I had them done there a few weeks ago and the girl did an amazing job! She shaped my brows great! Today, a different girl was there. She BUTCHERED my eyebrows. Her name was either Laura or Lauren or something similar. I was so mad I can't remember for sure. They are completely different shapes, no where near what they looked like when I walked in! I look like a clown! I am disgusted and would highly recommend RUNNING from this girl. As I open door I was greeted and informed the first hour is reserved for elderly and at risk individuals. I checked website and no mention of special hours. I understand everything feels chaotic, but this store offers curb pick up and is a beauty supply store. They are not providing groceries and were not open when only Essential businesses were open. I went to this store with my best friend, and was very very excited because I'd never been to an Ulta store. My experience was wonderful in the beginning, but it quickly went south. We were walking around, looking at all the makeup, when we were approached by an employee who wanted to know if we needed help. We said no, that we were just looking, and continued on. I grabbed on of their baskets and started to put makeup and such into it. After about thirty minutes, I was done and was ready to check out. I never even made it to the checkout before they very rudely accused me and my best friend of shoplifting! Now, that was a bit confusing. I was wearing a very very tight dress with no pockets and no purse. (My card was in my bra along with my keys.) My best friend only had to pockets but there was obviously nothing in them because her pants were tight too. I asked them what made them think that we were shoplifting and they said that we didn't look like we had enough money for the stuff we wanted to buy. They then said that they would ignore it if we just walked out. Needless, to say, we walked out and I will never go to this store again. read more

I was quoted a price for a highlight and when i received the bill it was twice the price i agreed upon. Furthermore the stylist just trimed the hair and charged $35.00. That is a crime to charge that for a trim. When I questioned the $130.00 bill they said all they could do was to offer me a 20.00 credit to use at the salon. Really, that is it? The highlight was not even good quality. It looks like it has grown out about 4 weeks. The roots are dark, temples of hairline dark. I don't know where they get their stylists but they are not very good. Don't Go. Save your money!!!!! read more

Went in for a wash, blowout and style. I wanted a decent amount of back comb close to the scalp. Back combing has been popular for decades, you'd think they'd teach that at beauty school. The gal who did my hair back combed far away from my scalp, making it look like I had a rats nest on the side of my head and no volume on top. I will not return. read more

I wish I would've got the staff members name but she was so unwilling to help. I asked for a sample of a certain foundation because the shade that I need is normally too orange in other lines. She told me that she couldn't give me one because they don't carry anything to put samples in. The funny thing about what she said is that I was literally in maybe a week prior and received a sample of what I thought would be my correct shade from a different associate. I asked, "so you never sample anything? because I was just in here and received one." And of course she replies with the same answer instead of reaching out to another team member to get correct information. Even if it were true, why not show some great service by finding out how I was able to the last time. I love shopping at ulta, this ulta is ok. I do have problems with products being out of stock for months at a time. The shopping experience is good, everyone is friendly. Now, for the salon, stay away. I've been to the salon 3 times, and it was bad. I got highlights the first time and they looked very brassy/Orange. Then another time I got a haircut and paid $35 for a haircut the quality of a great clips where I cld have paid $10. Then why? Yes, I decided to give them another try , highlights and color. I paid $130 for brassy highlights, dull looking hair and a blowdry. What a mistake. Unfortunately this is the last time I will visit that salon. read more

Bought $67 worth of IT cosmetics. Got home and realized they hadn't given me the free gift with $35 purchase. Went back that night and they said they didn't have any. They brought the manager, Cynthia, to the counter who told me in no uncertain terms there was nothing they could do. I asked if, as a customer service gesture, they would offer the "travel" size of the IT cosmetic item instead since I made the trip to come all the way back out to the store (remember, they never said anything at the time of purchase which they're supposed to do on GWP they told me), and the manager didn't even make eye contact with when she said "no" as she walked away. I want to like this store so much; they have good brands and I love the combination of high and low end products. The problem is that they don't seem to know very much about their products and seem indifferent to actually selling them to you. It is like you are inconveniencing them. They are pretty unknowledgeable about the way products work; things like chemical versus mechanical sunscreen, retinoids versus AHA, you know, basic things to people who care about skincare. I gave up and went to Sephora where people are much more motivated to attend to the needs of customers and professional in their demeanor. read more

Do not go to Ulta to get your hair colored! I have brown/black hair and went in about a 4 months ago for an all over color in red. My stylist asked me if I wanted to lighten my hair up before doing the color. This was my first color experience so I had no idea what needed to be done so I asked her what she thought was best. She said she wouldn't lighten it and would just see how it went. She puts in the color washes it out and then ask if I would like to have the ends trimmed since I didn't have a lot of split ends. I said sure but was never told that to trim not even 1/10th of an inch was going to cost me $38!! Then the color didn't come out correctly once she straightened my hair so she said that if I didn't like it I could come back within 3 days to have it redone and lightened. I do go back because I wasn't satisfied. She lightens my hair and then adds the color and it comes out beautifully. After I spoke to a manager about the additional charge for the trim that I was never told about and the manager kindly refunded me for the "haircut" Great I leave happy all is good. Fast forward to a month ago (beginning of August) I call to set up another color appointment. I make the appointment and hang up. An hour later they call back saying sorry we don't have enough time to do your hair. So my appointment was canceled. I call back today to try and set up another appointment and get a time to come in. I hang up. 10 minutes later I'm being called and they are telling me oh btw there is a $56 bleaching fee on top of the $63 color plus a $12 fee to straighten your hair since it's curly. So my $70 all over color just went to $130! Where were all these "fees" the first time I went in?!? They never mentioned any fees to me before so what's different now. I canceled my appointment and said I would never go to Ulta salon again. Avoid this place if you don't want hidden charges. read more
