I used to enjoy going into this store until recently. Black Friday was a disaster. Sales were mispriced, not advertised correctly, and by 10 am after opening at 0800 they were out of one of the items advertised for an all weekend sale. They lady said the store received two sets....for the entire sale. I understand we are a rural community but we do have more than a few ladies here in Helena, Montana. I have even emailed corporate about promotional sales items not being available as advertised before. Then to boot....the people in the store are not friendly. Lastly, I have even emailed corporate office regarding issues with local store and have received back generic responses with links to spend more money or subscribe to more emails from ULTA. Overall, the store only gets one star due to lack of product of product and personnel assisting customers. Very upsetting since there are so few places within Helena to shop...but given that I still won't shop at the store and can find what I want at other stores or online from the companies themselves. read more

This Ulta is like every other Ulta. I am just so glad one was available. Additional star for proximity to the airport. Good selection of products- at least from the hair styling tools standpoint. I urgently needed a straightener as mine decided to not work this morning. Luckily, this location had plenty from which to choose. I was really hoping for a travel size flat iron, however due to no availability chose a slimmer 'full-sized' model. As I made a beeline for the hairstyle tools a couple of unique product offerings caught my eye, but unfortunately didn't have time to check them out. Will go back for further review of these products and report back! Service was prompt and friendly. No wait at checkout. Additionally, I see in other reviews cost was mentioned, unfortunately as someone that is not familiar with the cost of living here in Helena and am not price conscious I can't offer much, but, in general, prices seemed to be consistent with other Ulta locations I've frequented. read more

This new Ulta store opened the middle of May. It's the only location in Montana. It's a huge, bright, new store and the staff is very helpful. As always, there's a hair salon in the back and they also do waxing. I just happened to be here for their grand opening and they had all kinds of specials and give-aways. I got a coupon for free foundation, powder or concealer. They also had most of the Ulta brand cosmetics on sale. Nail polish was a bargain at $2 each. The store is nicely laid out with the prestige brands all along the right side, fragrances down the middle, hair stuff on the left at the back, drugstore brands left side with Ulta brand at the front right before the check out counter. I will definitely be coming back to this store whenever I get down to Montana. It's worth the extra drive. read more

This ULTA is super nice. The salon is huge and super clean. I love all of the services they offer and they use OPI gel polish to do their nails. Every person that has every helped me at this location has been super sweet and genuinely helpful. It has made me feel like such a valued customer every time I walk in the door. They are also expanding around this entire area which is nice because it is a great commodity to the area. This store is perfect for the area and they always offer double rewards points your whole birthday month and then they also give you a free birthday gift! Become a rewards member if you aren't one already and remember to check out the salon-definitely never have had a disappointing experience. Thanks ULTA! read more

Ulta is the Sephora that I need in Helena Most of the time, they have what I need, but if they are out of stock they are more than willing to order for me. Manager with short grey hair seems to have her panties in a twist sometimes but otherwise great, clean store. read more

Just had Kayla cut my hair. She listened to me, looked at my pictures and took the time to see how my hair would lay with the cut I wanted. She did a great job and my cut is exactly what I had pictures in my head. Highly recommend her!!! read more

I have been here a few times mostly because I was happy to find somewhere to buy bare minerals other than on line. The last two times i was there the customer service was horrible. I had to look for someone to help me so I could make my purchase after waiting at the counter for about 15 minutes. I will not be returning. read more

I moved here 5 months ago and was not happy leaving Ulta in Mankato, MN but found Helena's Ulta to also be one of the best. Meagan in the salon is a favorite! She is so accommodating. I wish I remembered the name of the staff person who assisted me with makeup issues and assistance. She was very helpful and worked to make everything I needed possible. Such great staff!!!! My wife and daughters love this store. I've had to awkwardly go in and buy gifts for them before but the associates always make me feel comfortable and they are always so upbeat! The only negative thing I have to say is that the manager with grey hair is very rude and aggressive. My daughters will not go in the store if she is working because of their past experiences with the manager with grey hair. read more

First visit here & I was in the store for an hour, there seemed to be lots of staff but not one person asked me if I needed help. I've been a retail manager for several years and think this is a glaring sign that leadership & training here is inadequate. I honestly would have dropped a pretty penny if someone would have offered me an opinion on what I was looking for. I ended up grabbing some Ulta brand things on sale, buy 2 get 2 free. Checked out but looked at my receipt after leaving and realized I didn't get the sale price so I went back in, the supervisor? explained (annoyed) that I didn't buy 4 things on sale, the makeup wedges I bought were not considered beauty tools lol so I asked to return she said yes but it felt the entire return process from her was unwelcome, ended up saving $10 got extra stuff though! read more

So disappointed in the Ulta store in Helena Montana. I took my almost 3-year-old granddaughter into the store or at least tried to. We were turned away at the door because I had her in a cart. I had her in the cart to keep her from running around the store. This seemed like a reasonable thing to do.There was a lady with short dark hair and glasses standing at the door, and she told me I couldn't bring her into the store in a cart because their aisles were too narrow. By the way, the cart was a shopping cart that was very small-not the average sized shopping cart-about as wide as a stroller. I wonder what they'd do if somebody were to come in in a wheelchair or a walker. Are you kidding me? So women with children are not allowed in Ulta? Kind of killing your customer base aren't you? Sadly, the only reason I even give this store a one star is for product selection and convenience. Unfortunately, what could have been a pleasant shopping experience was, in my experience, ruined by the general lack of enthusiasm, professionalism and expertise of store associates who looked as if they would rather be anywhere else.The quality of competent service has never been ideal, but it has significantly declined over the years and I have little confidence in the proficiency of Ulta's *beauty advisors*. Even more frustrating is the feeling of being aggressively *stalked* while shopping. I just took my daughter shopping for her birthday and I felt like we were being stalked by a pack of wolves. And not in that *helpful* way either. I felt terrible for my daughter who already has social anxiety and is very sensitive to her surroundings in public places. I was just hoping to get her out of her apartment and treat her to a fun shopping experience for her birthday but I felt like I needed to be standing right next to her most of the time-it was awful. I have observed this happening every single time a particular manager is on duty. It's a terribly uncomfortable feeling and absolutely destroys the experience. There is nothing more disturbing while shopping than being greeted with what looks like glaring suspicion whenever you turn a corner. I couldn't wait to leave! I thought possibly it was a matter of profiling because my daughter has tattoos, and perhaps it is to a degree, but I have had the same experience myself when going alone. On one occasion I couldn't even examine a product line without the manager literally hovering over me and suddenly needing to frantically organize the display. I will shop online in the future until Helena acquires a Sephora or Ulta gets a complete make over. read more

I made an appt. well in advance for my color to be done. They didn't have the dye colors on hand that I requested before my appointment. So I settled for a different color. The lady doing my hair did permenent, then had to go mix more dye...only this time she mixed only semi- temporary. Needless to say half my hair is permenent and the other half is not.....they don't know what they are doing there. Plus I am not coming back to a salon where I have to listen to all the employees complain about there jobs. Unprofessional and embarrassing for the establishment. My relaxing salon day turned into a nightmare that day and two weeks later when half the dye was gone from my hair. read more
