The salon may be hit or miss, but the actual store is great. I've been in several times for harder to source items, and the staff has been great in explaining what they have (or don't have) and recommending supplies. Eyebrow service done: wax and tint Do not go to the older lady for services. She RIPPED THE SKIN off both of my eyebrows. Usually, you use your other hand to help stretch the skin, but not her. .. she one-hand ripped, it hurt and left scabs. She left some obvious hairs and I let her know and she fixed them. Her tinting job went well, but I was not given any direction on showering, etc. when I told her it was my 1st time. I was so mad I didn't go back to get my money back or complain. I am just venting on here to warn others. I also had to go back to ask her for lotion or something because my eyebrows hurt so bad. She was like. "ya, I have this stuff that even reduces swelling." Really? Why didn't you do that in the 1st place!!! On the flip side, I bought some makeup and perfumes. The makeup lady was so helpful and awesome I wish I remembered her name. I typically use Rusk & Schwarzkopf products ... my wife likes Bed Head. Pretty much whatever you want you will find here. They have a decent selection of colognes & perfumes (like Prada, Gucci, etc) if you happen to be looking for a gift. I have had my black hair color done here and the girls are well educated in their field. Usually, they have someone who specialty is washing hair then your stylist will get you after that ... they use and promote Redken products. The color was almost the best I've had (product wise, I really liked the professional color from Schwarzkopf the best) - but these stylist & colorists really know how to take care of you. You can't really mess up black color, but they know how to make it sheen just a bit more than I can do at home -- as for a cut, I have quite a bit of full hair, but mine ranges from about $20 to $30 - but I always time it for product pickups, so I go out less a lot more cash. Make appointments ... they take their time, they are not pressured to keep the seat warm by rotating customers as fast as possible as some other hair-cut places will do ... the store has tons of stuff to keep you girls occupied, and I think many guys would actually like it as well. Guys with the typical short cut with a two or three guard might not need to go here, but other guys with longer hair with some style needs or color needs I think would like this place. I find no pleasure in giving a bad review but i am doing it in hopes this could prevent someone else wasting money and time for unsatisfying services. I went there for a facial , place was indeed clean, but although Sandie tried her best it was by far the worse facial i've experienced in my life! She barely extracted 3 dark spots and that was all!!! No extraction/cleaning done, just some creams thrown on your face and some hesitant face and hands massage. Golden rule in a facial is to have a clean face so the creams one's using, could actually work their best. And yes in Europe I worked in a spa for years, i know what i'am saying. I am immensely unsatisfied with my experience at Ulta, not even their 30% off didn't made it better for me. Never again! read more

I had an Ulta Master Card which I have now cut up and threw away. I had a negitive balance of -$141.83 on my account. I was charged a late fee of $30.00 and an interest charge of $2.05 which left me with a balance to be paid of $32.05 on a negative balance of -$141.83. I had a very awful salon experience yesterday when I came in for a cut and demi gloss. My stylist started my appointment 20 minutes late (not that big of a deal) and seemed very flustered Her station was a mess and still was covered in hair from the client before me (she didn't clean the entire time, there was hair all over the floor). I told her it wasn't a big deal as long as it didn't cause her to rush on my hair. She said it wouldn't. I told her I was nervous because I have had a bad experience when a stylist didn't listen to me, she assured me she would. I had hair down to my rib cage (fairly long) and didn't want to lose much length, just a trim off the bottom, mostly wanted to add defined layers to add body and texture to my hair. I showed several pictures of the cut and the color I wanted. She said she could do it, no problem. But she argued that I needed to cut a lot off. I pushed back saying I really didn't want to lose length (I definitely had some dead ends but not significant damage of any kind). She continued to push and ultimately ended up cutting my hair to shoulder length (at least 6 inches off) with a blunt cut before doing the dye so she wouldn't waste product. She then had a difficult time finding color and then tried to tell me she would have to charge me for a different service (although she had just told me they didn't charge for extra product and this product was still a Demi gloss) I asked why because I didn't understand and she just said never mind. While putting the dye on my hair, she said several times she felt like she was going to fall asleep and that she felt like she was going to pass out because she is hypoglycemic. I told her to take care of that if she needed to and she refused. After she put the gloss on, it's supposed to process for 20 minutes. Midway through my processing time, she took a walk in client. She then took much longer to get back to me and when she did she took my to the shampoo bowl and tried to really rush to get the product out. After which she left me for 30 minutes with my head in the shampoo bowl to go back to the client she took (she kept repeating "sorry haha I just can't say no to people). Another stylist came back to me after 30 minutes and offered a complimentary deep conditioning treatment which I appreciated. Another 15 minutes pass and my stylist finally returns. She takes me to the chair to dry my hair and start my cut. She tells me "they teach us to do this a certain way but that's not my style so I do it my own way" which is not reassuring as a client. I had asked for layers, all she did was continue to feather the bottom of my hair. She also burned herself twice with the hair dryer and cut herself with the scissors and had to leave to get a bandaid. When she finally finished (after over three hours), I was so unhappy. The color wasn't quite right and the cut was nowhere close to what I had asked for. I didn't feel that I could ask her to fix it because at this point I don't believe she could. She had said she could do the cut I wanted, but when I asked for defined layers she told me she didn't think it would look good but it really seemed to be because she didn't know what she was doing. Overall it was an unpleasant experience with an unprofessional stylist who didn't listen and ultimately gave me a haircut I was very unhappy with. Other stylists seemed great and were nice so I don't think this is every stylist at Ulta but it's the experience I had. Update: I ended up contacting Ulta customer service and was offered a full refund for my bad experience and was informed the stylist has been talked with. I appreciate the follow through and compensation. Customer service gets 5 stars. read more

Nothing I need is ever in stock and the few times I have tried ordering it in store, I end up with the wrong item in shipment. I had surgery last Thursday, for Cancer. A really good friend of mine bought me a $50 gift card to Ulta, as a get well. She knows I love the store. So on my way to radiation today I thought I would run in a treat myself to a new mascara. I started at the Benefit counter. After browsing for a considerable amount of time, I was finally asked if I need some help. I told the woman what I was looking for, without approaching me, she stated that those products were all they had. She never offered any further assistance and never walked, much less looked my direction. I then proceeded to walk over to Urban Decay. After browsing for a few moments I was approached by another woman. I explained to her that I was looking for a good quality, waterproof mascara with a fuller wand. She walked with me, we checked two. Another woman approached her and in the middle of our conversation she left me standing, in the aisle, to help someone else. I even waited in the area for her to get done and she never came back to help me. She walked past me like I wasn't even there. I tried to call the Manager and was told, she was in an interview and I'd need to call back. No one offered to take a message or asked if they could assist me. This happened a the Ulta, Bridge Street, Huntsville Alabama. This gift card was purchase to make me feel better and it did the exact opposite!! Went to Ulta to have microdermabrasion done and I was extremely satisfied with the overall experience. First impressions do make a difference: the treatment room was immaculate and Sandie, the Esthetician, was friendly, knowledgable, and had the softest hands in the universe! I was especially pleased with her analisys of my skin and the expert way she recommended the right products to continue improving my skin's condition...needless to say, I will be scheduling regular appointments with Miss Sandie...and encouraging my friends to do so as well! read more

I walked the store 3 times watching the staff offer help to many others around me. Finally had to ask someone for help. I am appalled at the lack of customer service at this Ulta location. I have been in that store a few times in the past few months each time looking for help, each time leaving without getting any assistance or purchasing products. If the associates aren't talking exclusively to each other, they are sizing up the costumers before deciding to help or walk past them. The only interaction attainable to everyone walking into that store is "Hi welcome to Ulta!." If you ask for help in the middle of an employee conversation, you get a dirty look before you get a vague reply or some assistance with an attitude. This is so sad because I have not experienced this level of unprofessionalism at any other location I have visited. I got a hair cut and toned today. It was very well priced. And Catherine Renfroe did an amazing job on my hair. I am blonde and she toned down the brass color in my hair. I love my layers she did. I really like Ulta and this location is great as well. I have been shopping at this location since August 2010. The managers are super friendly and I had two managers sneak me in a discount on two separate occasions. I used to have my hair dyed by Amber, but from what I understand she no longer works there. They also have sales frequently so be on the lookout. You can get some great deals there, more than Sephora in my opinion. I am a happy customer. read more

I have to agree with the other ratings for this store. Worst customer service available. Placed order online for in store pick up. When I went to the store to pick up my order I will told to go to the back of the line by the General Manager Terry. The reason I ordered online was to be able to go in and pick items up without a wait. The Gen Mgr Terry told me to go to the back of the line with all the other customers. Total of 33 people were in line at the time. I left and went back the next morning when they opened. Gen Mgr Terry and 2 staff spent 9-10 minutes looking for my order. When they finally found my order the package was labeled wrong with another persons name on the package. I ask the Gen Mgr why I was instructed to go to the back of line the day before and she stated it was because they were busy. This was very unfair to me. As a Gen Mgr Terry did not properly staff Ulta that day. She said she would try to do better in the future. Not that she will do better but that she would try. Got the worst hair cut of my life there. Had to have it recut the following day by someone else. The second stylist showed me just where and how far off the first cut was. I know they tell you to talk to the stylist and they will fix it to how you want before you leave the chair. It was soooo bad that I didnt want her to touch it and screw my hair up further or make it way to short that someone else would not be able to fix it. Run away as fast as you can!!! read more

I specifically asked for an experienced hair stylist. I took a photo and had a simple request. Tone down the highlights and give me the pictured hairstyle. She said I needed a couple of low lights in the back so it would look like the pictured hair style. I said OK. I thought she was doing that, instead she was adding low lights and high lights. By the time she rinsed me and started to cut my hair (2 1/2 hours later), I noticed she kept me facing away from the mirror. I told her not to make my hair choppy and that I only wanted "subtle" layers. I told her I use "large" hot rollers and that I did not want my hair short. She dried my hair with an extra large brush which gave me a lot of body. No problem. She then tells me that my hair is too thick and that it must be thinned out. I stopped her 3 times to ask if she was doing layers. All that time she kept saying no, that my hair was too thick. I reminded her I use large rollers for the length that I requested. Then she uses a flat iron to try and style my hair. Then she goes back to thinning it out again. I stopped her. I asked her about the "blob" of bleached hair that looked orange and asked her to tone it down. Her reply was 'just part you hair differently and you won't be able to notice it". Exactly 3 hrs later, I had ORANGE STRIPED HAIR, BRILLO PAD TEXTURE, DRY FADED COLOR, and a CAROL BRADY (the Brady Bunch TV mom) HAIR. The Price: $ 220.00 I spoke to the store manager which was very nice and helpful and am waiting to hear back from the salon manager.
