Just the store portion, clean, my lady enjoys this location because it's in a good plaza, easy access, plentiful parking and a lot of stores we typically shop at. Staff is always generally nice and can help if you ask. I don't know much about these products aside what the lady teaches me which I'm always open to learn, hence having an actual skin routine lol. read more

My favorite Ulta to go to! I love that it's also in the same plaza as Target and Wegman's. This Ulta location is kept super clean and has a good selection of both drugstore and "high end" make up brands, skin care, and hair products. Best of both worlds. I am giving this store two stars because of the AGRESSIVE sales associates. I asked a sales associate for a particular brand and of course she sends me over to the most expensive section. She wanted me to sample an eye cream and I explained to her that I have extremely sensitive eyes and I did not want to try a random cream on a shelf. The worked rolled her eyes. So not professional. I told her I wanted to check out another brand and she lead me to the area and said "Good Luck" She must work on commission for certain brands. She was highly unprofessional. I regularly shop at this Ulta store and find it to be very clean and employees are always friendly. I recently checked out with Christina, and she was so sweet and helpful. I ordered a product with her that was not in store and the process was simple. I would have given 5 stars, but the store is often out of stock on products that I'm looking for. I had a Keratin Express done, and I have really fine hair. Since the treatment, my hair is a complete grease ball and absolutely no volume, therefore, I must keep it in a ponytail. Hairdresser never indicated these treatments are for course hair. Also, I was unaware stylist receive training from Ulta and not necessarily licensed hairdressers. I will refrain from posting hairdressers name, but never again. Do your research! read more

Avoid the hair salon at ALL costs. I'm in tears after a horrifying experience that resulted in my hair looking like a five year old went nuts with scissors. I booked a signature haircut, and the stylist started off the process by asking me for hair inspiration pictures. I showed her a photo of what I wanted: long layers thru out. My hair reached my lower back, and I wanted a few inches off to achieve the desired look. The stylist acknowledged the photo, and didn't express any concerns with producing that style. While my stylist was super friendly and engaged appropriately in conversation, the haircut she produced suggests she did not know what she was doing. I ended up with a choppy haircut with many blunt ends, and completely uneven hair on both sides. In hindsight, part of this is due to the fact that she randomly cut my hair with a middle part (even though my hair was a side part when I walked in...) then asked me how I part my hair AFTER she was done cutting. She simply adjusted the hair without making further cuts for symmetry. I'm not entirely sure of what she was trying to achieve here because there are NO long layers in the end result. I wouldn't even be as mad if there was some semblance of layering but I think the photos speak very clearly that this was a botched haircut. She was also a little rough when it came to handling my hair - perhaps this speaks to her inexperience - but I've never had anyone wring my hair out so roughly post shampoo or yank my hair so hard when pulling out sections of hair to cut. I am so disappointed and will be looking for another salon to fix this disaster. read more

Two visits to this location in about 10 days, and it really sums up why I have become a big fan of Ulta over the past few years: I was always a Sephora fan, but then an Ulta opened near my previous home so I wandered in and just liked it. Then Sephora had the drama following their massive lay-off in early 2020 and informed employees of that over a conference call. Sorry, I just couldn't love them anymore... But back to Ulta: I have recently become a fan of "The Ordinary" products (great skincare at a tiny price) and came in for another purchase after ordering from Ulta online. I was in the shopping center anyhow, so I went in and was greeted by a really nice girl who asked if I needed help? I need all sorts of help, but I suppose she meant related to the store so I let her know I was looking for The Ordinary. She walked me over to the display, explained that they didn't have much in stock but it would be replenished soon (it was that weird week between Christmas and New Year's). What I wanted came in a couple of days later, so I did a store pick-up (try it, it is great and then you save a trip in case it is not in stock) and was in and out in a minute. Store selection is great and typically cleaned and organized. They usually have things in stock. Cashier is usually friendly and rarely would you get someone with an attitude. Been here since they first opened. Recently this year, I decided to give Ulta a try for haircut and balayage. My hair was done a month ago by Susan. Had to come back twice which is normal for my hair but end up costing about $400 for haircut and balayage, excluding the generous cash tips I gave her twice. That is more with someone with lots of experiences with dying hair and cutting hair. Okay fine, I would have been happily to pay for it if it turned out great. It's been a month and I still hate my hair. She didn't even did anything to the back to make it a true balayage. It's just bleached at the ends of my hair. Going back to Watertown for balayage where there are expertise stylists. Oh, typically the stylists would curl your hair when you get balayage done but not here so I left not being satisfied or in love with my hair... read more

Really nice experience at this ULTA location today. I came in to browse the Truly CBD offerings. I love the Truly CBD pineapple lotion, but hate the packaging, which is a thick tube with a heavy cap that falls off all the time. I asked about the other Truly options and what the consistency was like. After explaining that the other offerings were kind of greasy or grainy, the salesperson recommended a CBD lotion from Hempz that not only contains a higher concentration of CBD but is also is significantly less expensive than the Truly brand and has similar great reviews. Extremely pleased with the customer service on this purchase! The salesperson also tried to help me find some neon nail polishes. They didn't quite have the shade I was looking to buy, but no fault of hers. Really pleased with my visit to this ULTA today. It may have helped it was a random weekday afternoon, so the store was not busy. This store will continue to be my preferred ULTA location. read more

Westwood Ulta stole my heart away from the Natick spot, granted I'm not a customer who falls in love easily with places. A large portion also is attributed to the surrounding shops at University Station (looking at you: Nordstrom Rack, Target, Wegmans). Anyway other factors that they have more control over stem from the positive impression I got from their grand opening I attended with a friend last year. We were all given vouchers to redeem for a free blowout and $5 off coupon that I used on eyeliner. Since then I've had a great time coming to my makeup happy place. I usually don't ask for assistance but they seem generally helpful. I also have asked them over the phone to put some highly popular sets for me on hold that sold out online/other stores. I've also been consistently pleased with the salon even though each time I've gone with a promotion. $10 hair cut for breast cancer research, $15 living proof style and free blowout. Only issue I've had is slight attitude and begrudge when returning an item I got on sale. I tried to do an even exchange of the same product but different shade, since the one I picked out online made me look like a cartoon. It was from their drugstore brands, NYX. Seriously is the $3-$6 worth making me feel uneasy about? The manager came to her senses and told the sales associate it was fine and not to bother me to pay the messily difference. If they could work on that and respect customer loyalty status that would be fantastic. Oh and if they would let me know about the other Store specific events that aren't generic for all stores. read more

I usually shop at Sephora. I decided to give Ulta a try a few times and its been okay .I went in during prom season to buy my son cologne and the manager helped us. She was so helpful and delightful to work with that today I decided to go back to buy my make up, I gathered quite a few things ( some were hard to find especially at Lancôme) and headed to the cash register. There was such a long line and only one person working finally they called somebody else up yet I was still8 people back . I needed to leave to meet a friend for dinner. I gave the girl at the cash register my stuff and said I'd be back around six. My ETA was 602 so I called to ask if I could pick it up tomorrow, a little bit before six tonight the person who answered the phone told me all my stuff I've been put back. I'm so annoyed that I spent time shopping and getting help to only have my items put back because you didn't have enough people at the register. I hate complaining probably wouldn't if I hadn't seen people talking in a corner instead of helping out at the register. By time along with your time and your customers, time is valuable please respect it and keep an eye on the line at the register and put additional help up there when needed . I went in to do an even exchange for a $48 lotion as it was a gift , I just simply wanted the other scent . I can't believe the way I was treated by manager and more importantly the girl at the register. She offered me $12 for the $48 lotion and said I could pay the difference.. she was incredibly rude and very insulting. It was just an even exchange that clearly made her upset for some odd reason. She did not want to help me and I ended up keeping the lotion instead of been ripped off . I'll get use to the new scent But I can't get over the experience and the way I was treated , terrible customer service& attitude towards customers ! I will never shop there again and will cancel my ulta credit card , my experiences at Sephora are wonderful so I will continue to use that store as they are kind ,helpful and most of all not miserable disgruntled employees . I felt pressured to purchase something and when I did I saw the headset woman make eye contact with me before turning her back to me and give a double thumbs-up to fellow workers. This location doesn't carry kkw makeup or Chanel fragrance but I still give it a 5 star rating because of how friendly and attentive the staff was while I was shopping. On October 19th I had an appointment with Susan, at the Westwood Ulta branch, to get partial highlights. While the lady was a nice person, my hair is STILL suffering and damaged from what she did to it. The highlights weren't the color I wanted the texture of my hair has been awful. There's no way to describe it other than that it feels like a synthetic wig you've thrown around and never took care of. It appears she only knows how to style people with straight hair because the highlights are only apparent when my hair is straight and she insisted on giving me a blowout to "make it pop". She also got bleach on my eyebrow and half of the color on my eyebrow came off! This was the only experience I've ever had at the Westwood Ulta branch, but I can assure you I will never be returning, especially not to Susan!! read more

OMG. So I just have to rave about two employees at Ulta in Westwood. Taylor at the benefit brow bar and Melissa D in the salon. Holy hell these two. First of all Taylor gives your brows her full attention. She creates shapes that are amazing out of my overgrown (sorry!) brows. Then she also did the impossible and matched me with the correct brow gel (I am too lazy for pencils and powders and pomades) that I newly love. Sorry dipbrow you were too bold for me. Benefit gets me. Now for Melissa D in the salon. I'm coming off a fairly traumatic toxic relationship with my last stylist and Melissa is everything she wasnt. She's attentive, asks smart questions about how much effort I'm willing to put in, her product recs are unparalleled, and then there's her actual talent. I came to her with a haircut so patchy that it looked like my sides never talked to my back. She fixed it perfectly. And the color!! I challenged her to color block me on our first appointment and man did she deliver. So precise!! She is a master stylist and so worth the money. I'm so happy with my cut and color! read more

I shop here regularly. So I was kind of thrown off on my latest trip. I was there to pick up a few items. The young lady greeted me which was nice because others just stared awkwardly like I was interrupting their conversation. It was was weird whenever I asked a question. I got one worded answers or very short phrases. For example I would state my dilemma and the response I got was "word" another response I got was "heard" and then when I expressed my annoyance when she pointed me in a direction that was completely off from what I inquired about I got a "come again?" I really wasn't sure why this young white lady felt it necessary to start talking in this vernacular. The last thing I would say is ... it is not impressive to work in a make up store and have no product knowledge and confidently say "well I'm not sure about foundation I'm really a mascara and lipstick kind of girl". I could go on and on about why this foundationally ( pun intended) wrong but customer service skills training should be updated as to how to interact with customers in this store. I ended up helping myself that day as I grew tired of her lack of knowledge and the socially awkward hiccups that kept happening. Another time I came in and there was a young lady with a cute curly hair ( maybe it was dyed) cut who knew her stuff, products, undertones, coverage type and long wear and transference. Went here with my wife and she wasn't impressed by the customer service. They weren't very helpful to her with finding specific stuff. She had me running around the store looking haha! She got the stuff she was looking for but without the help of any employees. The lady at the register was beyond rude, had a very disgusting attitude towards my wife and I was put off by it. I was orginally was looking for MAC Foundation. One of the girls told me they do not carry MAC at this location but suggested I talk to Shelley at Lancome about what I was looking for in a product. I work long hours in customer service and do not have time to reapply, so I need something that will last. She asked a few questions and found the correct shade to match my skin. She was also very informative about some other products that may be helpful. She showed me how to apply each one as she magically brushed all of my dark circles and problems away. I've been using the foundation, powder, eye cream, eye brow pencil, and eyebrow gel for a few days now. My skin feels so much healthier already and I'm in love with the perfume sample she suggested aswell. A clean and organized store, convienently located, with wonderfully helpful staff. I will definitely visit again and see Shelley, who wrote down all of my product numbers in her book for me so I don't have to remember them. That girl is gold! read more

I used to come here a lot because I lived close by, and haven't made it back as often as I would like. However, I finally made the schlep today, in search of hair products. My hair is extremely long, fine and pin straight, and I don't like using a lot of product. The woman from the hair salon I spoke to spent about 15 minutes with me talking about what I was looking for and showing me my options. I mentioned that I typically buy my shampoo and conditioner in bulk (duh), but I did not feel pressured to do that today. She gave me regular-sized bottles of the new hair products, and told me they do come in large bottles, but to take the small ones in case I don't like the products. WOW, talk about feeling helped but not sold! She also said they have a policy where I may bring back my products within 30 days, even if I have tried them and don't like them. This place is clean and well organized. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable; they aren't teenagers sitting around on their phones ignoring customers-- or getting annoyed when a customer has a question. This store has a wide variety of products, so shoppers with any budget can find what they are looking for. This is a great shop, and it's conveniently located at the Westwood plaza, so there's no excuse not to pop by! read more

I want to start off by saying Taylor at the Benefit Brow Bar does the best brow wax. She is also very attentive and listens to what you want done! I frequent this store and I have to say I got lucky with Ariel working the cash wrap tonight, she was also overly generous with samples which never really happens, but as consumers we greatly appreciate it! It was so relaxing, and the best way to end a hectic day. It was far more gentle than previous microderms I've had, but the results are just as good - 2 days later and my skin looks incredible, and all my skincare products are working even better for me.
