But I do know that it works and I am not the only one it has saved. When my printer broke down and started eating my paper. When my printer started printing out gibberish instead of my assignment. When my printer ran out of or never had any ink. Did I even have a printer? Maybe I should have paid that extra $10 for the better brand I'm thinking. When group assignments turned to their last waking hour. When important presentations needed important binding in a colour which meant 'I mean business'. When you needed a million documents copied, binded, copied again, binded again. When binding fails. This place has been there for me through all these times. The guy who runs it has run it for many many years and is still there going strong! The prices for copies are not expensive at all he's very good at binding in under 1 minute. All 76 pages, 16 000 words of it. But there was one step left before I could hand it in... I needed to print the damn thing! On Campus at the University of QLD, St Lucia, there are a number of places where you can print, but the POD (Print-on-demand) Centre offers a stress free printing and binding experience. It is located at the back of the Co-op Bookshop and everythig is orange so you can't miss it. I had left it to the day it was due to print but had gone in to POD Centre the week before just to ask how it all works. The staff were extremely helpful, very friendly, and very fogiving of my slighly sleep deprived state of not quite consciousness. They easily explained the printing process. It is as simple as setting up an accounton the self-serve kiosk, finding your file (preferably pdf as this minimises chances of formatting errors), and pressing print. Easy as. The cost was quite cheap, even for the few colour pages that I needed and all three copies of my thesis were printed and bound within 20mins. I walked away with a smile on my face, stress free and happy as can be.

However, if you want someone to hold your hand through the first time, ask one of the staff. They're easy to find- they're in orange. They're more than happy to help. POD is also useful for when you have lectures that say you need to purchase 'Course Readers'. These nifty little books are also printed by POD. You'll find them around the corner from the orange counter. At the beginning of semester, they usually print masses of them to meet demand. POD in my opinion, is definitely one of the more important and helpful services that UQ provides.

I recently got 3 winter jackets drycleaned with them which ended up costing $29.85, which I thought wasn't too bad for the quality. Alternatively, if you needed only one done, it would cost $15.20. So, ideally, you'd want to take advantage of 3 for $29.85. I've only ever noticed the same lady working there. Although she doesn't appear to be very enthusiastic about the work, she is still very friendly and helpful. A good dry cleaning place for their fast, professional and convenient service at affordable prices.

The soap box is also allowable for two loads. Be warned that it is not separated by packaging and the whole sachet can be easily dumped into one by mistake! There are 5 top loading washers to 7 front loading ones. There are also 4 drying tumblers altogether. The dryers can take a maximum of two normal washer loads. There are instructions on the walls to provide directive if needed. The washing cycle runs for 30 minutes and the dryer is dictated by how much tokens are inserted. Happy washing!

But the lady who does the repairs and sewing is very good, and has helped me alter and repair some delicate dresses over the years. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other dressmakers I've visited. They are open early on weekdays at 7am, so you can drop in before work. They are also not too far from the Geebung train station around the corner, so they are very conveniently located.

The PayPal…read morepayment system worked flawlessly -- go to the link posted on the wall (using their free wifi, if you like), specify the machine you want to use, the amount of time (for dryers), and then you're transferred to PayPal to complete the transaction. As soon as you pay, the machine is active and ready to run. The wifi worked well, and there are outlets for your laptop next to a desk at the window. There's also a big table for folding laundry, and a clever gadget to help you fold your sheets. You don't have to guess about dryer heats -- a sign above the dryers tells you the temperature of each setting. Washers are $4 each. Dryers are $1 for 8 minutes. There's one large washer -- I forget the price. Discounted prices are available certain hours, which are advertised on the notice board. The only problem I had was quickly resolved. I had tried to use the vending machine to buy detergent, but the coin slot was jammed. I was able to pay with a bill and get coins as change, but the coins I put in got stuck. I phoned the two help numbers -- the landline went to voicemail and I left a message, but the mobile number was answered right away. He said he'd come by in 15 minutes to look into the problem, and he did. Shortly thereafter, a lady returned my call to the landline. When the owner arrived, he cleared the jam (caused by a sticky 20 cent coin in the slot), gave me my lost coins back, and offered me anything I'd like from the machine. The laundromat is in a small shopping center with its own small parking lot -- a few spaces are available for laundromat customers. I never had trouble getting a spot. It's near enough to the Gabba that I was able to walk down and watch a few overs of a Sheffield Shield match while waiting for my clothes to dry. The owner told me that they hope to add a location near the CBD, if they can find a spot with reasonable rent. Spring Hill is a possibility. I hope they do, as there is a dearth of laundry options in the CBD other than overpriced hotel laundry service.
